A 35-year-old woman from Delta State, Mrs Anibor George Jite is critically ill and has been diagnosed with Rheumatic Heart Disease with Severe Arotic Regurgitation. She is in need of a heart surgery to replace her failed valves, the total cost of the surgery is twenty five thousand dollars, that is twelve million five hundred thousand naira and the surgery is scheduled to take place in India.



In 2011, she underwent a heart surgery for this same procedure, which cost her life savings and now there is a relapse.



Jite is critically ill in Warri, Delta where she resides with her three young children ages, 8,7 and 20 months respectively. Presently, Jite urgently needs another surgery because she can hardly breathe without difficulties, having lungs pain and dizziness even when doing nothing and her doctors in India have given her an ultimatum of three months to do the surgery which has expired. She is only living on the mercy of God.

Salimo-Wits Foundation, an initiative established to train and mentor a new cadre of young leaders and entrepreneurs in order to achieve their full potentials has launched three chapters of its youth leadership clubs across different locations in Lagos state. The new chapters were launched on Saturday 24th, November 2018 at Ibeju/Lekki, Yaba and Alimosho.

In his opening remarks, Mr. Roland Eyetu, a board member of the foundation, welcomed the youths and encouraged them to work closely with the foundation. He added that Salimo-Wits will provide the necessary infrastructure and enablement needed in uplifting youths in order to be productive in the society. He went further to state that Salimo-Wits is all about Empowering the youths. “Salimo-Wits Foundation will work with you as a partner, as an ally and as a friend. Salimo-Wits will provide you with the training, tools, mentorship, guardianship and support required to achieve what God created you to be.” Also speaking at the event, Mr. Emmanuel Owoyemi, a member of the board of the organization, went further to emphasize the vision of the foundation. He said “Our vision is to build leaders that will berth change in our generation. What we are doing today is to officially launch Salimo-Wits Youth Leadership Clubs in different parts of Lagos state so that we can raise more young people who would become leaders that would berth change in our Country.”

Some of the beneficiaries who spoke at the event also expressed their delight on how the foundation has transformed the lives of so many people. “When I came into this foundation, I was confused and I had no direction in life, they were able to guide me and now I have my own business. No one in this life is useless, all we need is a mentor, thanks to Salimo for transforming my life”.

Salimo-Wits foundation is a registered NGO founded by Mr. Dan Ekoko in June 2012. The organization is committed to harnessing and maximizing the leadership potentials of youths through value, principle and character-based training.

It was a beehive of activities on the 23rd of November 2018 at the Moot and Mock Court of the Faculty of Law Obafemi Awolowo University as the SM Jury in partnership with Prima Strata Club brought together thought leaders to discuss Social Media for Growth.

According to Seun Ajayi, We are in the world of digital democracy.There is a digital democracy and we are in the "broadcast yourself" era. In the words of Asiri Comedy, ''Social media is the current GOLD MINE and if you are not on this space, you are missing out. Leo Dasilva said Growth is very important and shouldn't be joked with. ''You can go to the top with a good and consistent strategy''. Ubi Franklin who joined via skype also shared his wealth of experience to the Students.




The highpoint of the event was the presentation of an award of Excellence to all the Panelists by the Convener of the SM Jury, Miss Tonia Odili and the President of the Prima Strata Club, Mr Jiboye Toluwani David. The Panelists also thanked the organizers for providing a platform like this to share their wealth of experience thereby giving back to the Society.

The event which witnessed a huge turnout of undergraduates and staff of the school was moderated by on air personality , Onoge Tega Ben.

At the 6th edition of the Social Media Jury Conference, Entrepreneurs from all walks of life gathered together on the 26th of July at the Prestigious Oriental Hotel to discuss the theme ‘’Leveraging Digital Channels for Growth’’.

In her opening speech, convener of the SM Jury and award winning Public Relations Consultant, Tonia Odili, challenged all Participants to unlock new opportunities in their various sectors as they tap into a great network of influencers.

Laura Ikeji Kanu while addressing the audience said failure is part of success. Triple MG boss Ubi Franklin on the other hand mentioned the importance of finding one’s passion and growing it as a brand or business from the scratch instead of trying to scale hurdles and looking for immediate success.

Sound Sultan however emphasized the importance of putting up good content, being up to date on trending societal issues as well as using social media as a tool for startups who want to become big brands. He also said youths should identify a problem in whatever endeavor they choose and provide a solution to it.
