pundamoti: What you are talking about exists and is called IHDI.Kenya still ranks higher than Nigeria
51 Mauritius 75 Algeria 82 Tunisia 90 Gabon 97 Egypt 102 South Africa 110 Kenya 112 Namibia 113 Ghana 114 Eswatini 115 Tanzania 116 Angola 117 Zambia 119 Madagascar 120 Uganda 121 Rwanda 122 Cameroon 123 Lesotho 125 Mauritania 126 Nigeria
Please fools close this thread and stop exposing your ignorance.Nigeria`s data is even worse considering the differences in street level exchange of dollar to naira (around 365) and the 325 the imf uses!
http://hdr.undp.org/en/content/inequality-adjusted-human-development-index-ihdi You are only ignorant fool here. You suggested Nigeria need to grow economy by 10% for 5 years to reach the level of Kenya's development that's why I try to show you how HDI is calculated and among those three dimensions, the one that you suggested Nigeria is ahead of Kenya by having GNI per capita of 5700 while Kenya has 3430. You would have been reasonable if you suggested Life expectancy or Education.

pundamoti: HDI captures everything that you guys have been talking about here for ages! As it stands,Nigeria needs sustained 10% economic growth for at least 5 years to reach Kenya`s level of development! Unfortunately, Kenya is doing 6% growth and Nigeria 1 % economic growth! Third world country went into recession 3 years ago! Crazy! Remove oil from Nigeria's economy and it`s the world`s poorest nation! Oil generates 90% of forex! Already it has the most poor people in the whole world.1% economic growth for 3% population growth means poverty rate in Nigeria is only increasing. Please don`t compare Nigeria with Kenya.Btw Kenya will start producing oil and can foresee her GDP tripling in around 5 years time.Nigeria is a disaster waiting to happen. You are misleading people, if HDI was measured by GDP Nigeria would be Higher in the rank than Kenya. The Human Development Index (HDI) is a summary measure of average achievement in key dimensions of human development: a long and healthy life, being knowledgeable and have a decent standard of living. The HDI is the geometric mean of normalized indices for each of the three dimensions. The health dimension is assessed by life expectancy at birth, the education dimension is measured by mean of years of schooling for adults aged 25 years and more and expected years of schooling for children of school entering age. The standard of living dimension is measured by gross national income per capita. The HDI uses the logarithm of income, to reflect the diminishing importance of income with increasing GNI. The scores for the three HDI dimension indices are then aggregated into a composite index using geometric mean. The HDI simplifies and captures only part of what human development entails. It does not reflect on inequalities, poverty, human security, empowerment, etc. http://hdr.undp.org/en/content/human-development-index-hdi

gallivant: I specifically asked you to stop deflecting your insecurities on Kenya. I honestly care less about your 32% connectivity. You fools need to stop stalking Kenyans everywhere. Read the title of the thread carefully and go post your mountains elsewhere. gallivant: The Kenyan shilling is greater in value than the worthless Naira. It's also 22 times valuable than Tanzanian toilette currency. So why you keep talking about Tanzania? |

tylann: You are deluded
Kenya's connectivity to the grid is more than 70% So you are comparing Kenya's figures in 2013 to Tanzania's figures in 2017 why are you biased Have you read that report? Thank God it was posted by your fellow countryman. It cover mid 2017 up to mid 2018.

gallivant: Instead of cooning like AskiaHarem, you should tell us how many Tanzanians are connected to the grid. Don't deflect your insecurities on Kenya. At 2017, 32.8% of Tanzanians were connected to the Grid and I dont know how much now. Do you think we are like you Kenyans bragging here about access of electricity and insulting Nigerians of using Generators while you in your country only 13%, the rest are Generators and solar. |

Mkenya2019: I think the issues was - when to count - those customers - when they apply for an account or when they turn the light. That controversy was alive when Kenya Power had like 4M customers...now they are nearly double.

Here is one for last year
https://www.kplc.co.ke/AR2018/KPLC%20Annual%20Report%2017_12_2018_Wed.pdf For example - last year --
In the course of the year, we connected 578,808 new customers to the grid, growing the overall customer base by 9.4 percent to 6,761,090 million. This was largely achieved through the government funded Last Mile Connectivity Project. As a result, the national electricity access from both grid and off-grid solution as at end of June 2018 had risen to 73 percent compared to 29 percent five years ago. The connectivity drive is premised on our strategic goal to secure the power distribution and retail market and support the country’s goal of providing electricity to all Kenyans which is an important ingredient for socio-economic transformation and development. So only 6,761,090 of Kenyan have been connected to the grid that bring ( 6761090/52000000)= 13% of Kenyan that have been connected. The rest 60% are using Generators and Solar. |

Stevoh18: When Tanzania practically use everything that has a "made in Kenya" tag from medicines, plastics, books everything in your shops even matchboxes are made in Kenya....
Check the balance of trade...despite the stupidity exhibited by Magufuli, Kenya still have a edge Exports to Tanzania 2018 $298m Imports from Tanzania 2018 $172m So do you want Tanzania to ban your goods? That will be against East African free trade or single custom. The problem between Tanzania and Kenya start when Tz Gov ban milks from Kenya especially Brookside. They were given a Milk factory in Arusha as new investors and they turn it to be a warehouse for their milk from kenya while deceiving they produce from there. So the government ban them. After that your government ban Tanzania's LPG. There are Tanzanian, kenyan, India, China, Egyptian, Italian etc medicines in Tanzania market so what's wrong with that. Plastics, Steel, Iron sheet, matchbox and books are all produced in Tanzania but that doesn't make other countries to export their things here.

PetroDollax: Nonsense post. Dangote is exporting sub standard cement to Ghana Is Dangote still exporting cement to Ghana? It seem Dangote has dominate your market such that he made your cement manufacturers to lament. Ghanaians were talking about Nigeria's resistance in signing of Africa free trade pact,h ere again they are talking of banning Dangote cement in Ghana. Don't you think in that free trade pact Dangote will dominate more? If Dangote cement was substandard, users would not buy them. Why would Ghanaians buy Dangote cement up to the state your local manufacturers want to ban him. |

Be the best with what you have Kenya is not rich in mineral resources like Tanzania Kenya doesn't have huge arable land like Tanzania 89% of Kenya's landmass is arid So we maximized the small that we had and that is tea kenya is the largest tea exporter in the world We are among the largest exporters of flowers in the world And very soon we will be among the largest exporters of avocados Good for you |

chrisagyei: Actually, Ghana exports far more than Kenya although you're right about majority of it being minerals buh Kenya is not much different with majority of Kenyans exports being primary natural products buh Ghana's economy is not a small economy because it's currently among top ten in Africa and industries make up 24% of Ghana 's economy. The GDP PPP of Ghana is 190 billion dollars. That is not a small economy.Ghana is among the top ten exports country in Africa and is number 7 Ghana is doing so great. I hope that reflects also in Ghana's citizens quality of life. I think African countries should do more in developing manufacturing industry. Kenyans has been bragging here of diversified economy but in reality is just Tea and flowers. |
