@Op, you should get a reimbursement from the supposed winner.

The question was made to look straightforward, but it isn't with a deceptive grammatical emphasis (colour) on the numbers just as in a typical mathematical or accounting exam setting.

But here is the twist:

The question was how much money was lost, not how much money and goods were lost.

I’ll explain further...

I am in the IT world but I know that money and goods are not the same in accounting, and will never get recorded in the same book. One is constant while the other isn't.

$1 will always be $1, but the value of goods may vary due to many factors, like bulk purchases, low sales, etc.

For instance, you can't give $1 to get $2, but you can get 3 goods for the price of one and the stock account will still balance (applying the discount code).

So while $100 is missing from the sales book, which might be because of any other reason, even damage, the goods didn't get missing. It was sold. It wasn't a loss.

However, another piece of money ($30) from the same cash register was taken out at the same time, making the total money (loss) taken out between the “thief and the cashier” during that transaction, that day, a total of $130. We can hypothetically say that the cashier gave $130 to the thief (assuming he didn't steal it) but didn't give the goods for free.

Think about it, the answer couldn't have been that easy. Everyone will quickly say $100 without a doubt. There definitely must be a twist.

Okay am not saying you should consider me or not, but you too think of it , at the high levels of fraud here in the world right now, you wanted to give me work to do and you are hiding your number (no caller ID) ,
And you are telling me to go to one email and submit me portfolio and other credentials right, and I told you that you should use your real number to call me or message me on WhatsApp or send me your email, and I added that am afraid of you now because you are hiding your IDENTITY, immediately I said such you drop the phone, not that I cannot get full details of you if I want to, even though you hide your phone number.
It shows that you are not sincere with the so job you posted here, and am sorry.

My apologies for how it all seemed. Every other person sent their portfolio to the job email, and I don't see anything wrong with that. The job requires that you have a couple of websites you have worked on as an experienced expert.

Again my apologies.

Hello guys.

Would you be kind enough to send the following details below to oily-mundane-0l@icloud.com? Thanks.

- Your first name
- Your portfolio (websites you have built.)
- Your location should be Lagos, as I need to meet with you.
- Any other work you have done that might help you get an edge.
- How you want to be contacted.

- P.S. You must know WordPress very well as you would be tested on it. There is no learning on the job. I'm sorry. You must be experienced.

Well, it depends on what you use WordPress for but trust me, it goes way beyond the ordinary. This opportunity isn't for junior-level WordPress developers. You are being paid handsomely as a senior developer. I wish I could say more than this. By the way, it's a bad work ethic to learn on a live job; so many things can go wrong.

Hello guys. I have an opportunity to bring a very experienced WordPress developer onboard a platform I am part of.

I know this thread is about Upwork, and I won't want to derail it. But as I see there are a lot of developers here, I thought I should share.

If you are confident, please find more details about the opportunity on this other thread.

I still need one more experienced WordPress developer with sound knowledge of the above languages.

Unfortunately, the guys aren't satisfied with the portfolios shared. They need someone who has done a whole lot with WordPress, etc.

If you are based in Lagos, that will be a plus, as I'd like to meet you.

You can use the email address provided to share the requested details.

I already got one person but there is still space for another.

Do you have a portfolio? Please email me at the address provided. You never can say. I might be impressed.

Hello guys.

Here is a quick update:

I went through the websites, but unfortunately, I would only proceed with two people for now. My apologies. While you all have great portfolios, I think more work needs to be done. The majority of the websites I saw were simply templates that were edited. Sadly, I'd need more than that. As I wrote earlier, this is a very competitive platform where only the best of the best can be accepted.

Please see this update as a rejection mail if you don't hear back from me, and I hope you will not take it personally.

However, I still need one more experienced WordPress, HTML, CSS, and Javascript expert to onboard. If you know anyone (including a female) that is very skilled, please don't hesitate to share this thread with them.

Thanks.

What a nice offer and your requirements are quite very easy for every pro developers. I was expecting to see some high end back-end technologies. As regards the Javascript you mentioned, is it just vanilla JS you were referencing to or the developer must also possess some of its framework's? Nonetheless, I possess them all and more.

As regards my portfolio,

@accelion, I have more than enough to show but i can't post the links here for confidentiality reasons but i have sent you mail via nairaland, kindly reply with your contact and i send them to you.

Let me ask just two questions for now, till we continue further on what's app:
1. Do you work with models when giving out jobs, or you propose a totally new design/idea to be implemented?
2. What's the frequency of the jobs?

1. The job type can be anything from function calls to editing website codes or converting PSD to WordPress. It could also be conceptualizing a website based on a client's need.

You could also be required to help fix simple things as small as updating a plugin or making a button change style on hover. The job type just varies depending on what clients want to be done.

2. You will make as much money as you can work. There is no limit to how much you can earn. In fact, you would be encouraged to take on as many jobs as possible. More money for you; more money for the company.

Do you mind sharing a portfolio with me?

Hello guys.

I am privileged to work for a foreign company that hires web designers and developers, and I want to bring two Nigerians on board. Male or female.

I need a developer with cutting-edge skills in front-end languages, especially HTML, CSS, and Javascript(most important).

What are the requirements?

- You must be very good with the above languages as you will be tested with them by my guys abroad and me.

- Knowing how to use WordPress will give you an edge. You will be tested on these too.

- You must have a portfolio of websites you have develped and are running. They will be checked.

- You must be able to communicate in the English language very well. Luckily, it is our lingua franca.

- This is a life-changing opportunity that requires patience. It will take a few weeks for the onboarding process. So you must be patient as so many people are trying to get into the program.

Those are the technical requirements for now.

Benefits

- You will be paid handsomely in USD.
- You will gain a lot working with me. Trust me.
- It isn't a 9-5 job; you work when you want.
- It is a remote job.
- If I am impressed with your skills and portfolio, I can provide a work environment for you.
- Once again, you will smile to the bank in USD.

As this is a life-changing opportunity, as it was for me, I will only be able to bring just two or three people on board yearly.

You’d have just one shot at it. If you miss it, there isn't another opportunity. But I'll help out where possible.

What do you need to do?

- Ask me your intelligent questions.
- Show me your portfolio websites or projects.
- If I like what I see, I’ll schedule an online discovery meeting with you.
- We move to the next step.

Are you paying for anything to get selected?

A CAPITAL NO! I REPEAT, NO.

To the mods, I am not trying to sell anything. I am just a lucky person who doesn't want to hide what he found and wants to help a fellow Nigerian. If you need to cross-check anything with me, please let me know.

Thanks.

Chief please don't tamper with the gear box that's not the issue I have same issue some months ago .....I changed linkage, bushing and ball joints lo and behold the sound persist not until one small boy mechanic pointed out the issue to be spider bearings and after he changed it the noise disappeared.
Each bearing cost 1,500 for tokunbo I changed 3 of them for 4,500.
Since then na the small boy I dey work with o ... I'm preparing to change oil seal this week.

Good morning. Thanks for this information. I will ask my mechanic to check the spider bearing and see if that fixes the issue.

The noise is really giving me concern. Where is the “small boy” located? Do you mind sharing his details? I live around Ikeja environs in Lagos.

Thanks.

Do not touch the gear box so long as you have no check engine light

Okay, I won't. The gear selects just fine. It's just the terrifying scraping sound that's the problem.

Could the problem be with the gear oil being short or gone? I plan on checking it today (DIY).
Car Talk / Re: Maintenance Tips For Honda Cars by accelion(m): 12:10pm On Aug 08, 2022
Thanks for the response, Conner44.

Do you have a check engine light?

No, I don't. I have also comprehensively scanned the engine and the gear, and both came out clear.

Break Caliper and wheel bearings?

They have both been checked repeatedly without any issues.

The mechanic I met here checked and said it had to do with the gear, as I guessed and thats the scary part.
Car Talk / Re: Maintenance Tips For Honda Cars by accelion(m): 9:32am On Aug 08, 2022
Hello Guys, good morning.

Can I please use your recommendations on fixing my Honda Accord 2014 model issues?

Here goes:

1.The car jerks (lightly) when I accelerate from a halt or make a turn. I know it is supposed to pick up immediately after I turn, but it jerks/bounces before it eventually does. And this happens every time I accelerate.

2.There is a persistent scraping sound on the driver’s side of my car. I have investigated and found that the sound isn't from the tire or the “hand” of the vehicle; it comes from the inside—through the inner shaft to the gear.

I also discovered the following about the issue(2):

a).When both front tires are raised and the gear is put in drive, while the right tire keeps spinning, the left slowly and strangely comes to a halt.

b).If I take the tire off the driver’s side, I don't hear this sound except if if the wheel is manually spun. Can I say the tire’s weight is a causing effect.

c).I don't hear this scraping sound when the car is put in reverse.

3.When the car is in motion, instead of gradually coming to a halt, it sharply does and withdraws as something pulls it back. You’d feel it, and I'd have to rev again. Sometimes, when it seizes (withdraws), it will free itself.

Thank you, guys, as I await your response. I will be happy to respond to any questions you have to help.

I am currently at Oyingbo (as directed) to get the best hands to work on the car since all the parts I will need are here (supposedly).

If you also can refer a trustworthy engineer here (Willoughby), I will be happy.

Cheers.
Car Talk / Re: Maintenance Tips For Honda Cars by accelion(m): 9:18pm On Jan 16, 2022
Hello guys, can I please get your sentiments about the 2014 honda accord? I plan to purchase the car week, and I am contemplating the Nigerian used to save cost. Is this a wise decision, or should I just opt for the tokunbo?

My budget for the Nigerian used (upgraded is 3.8m - 4m), while the price for the tokunbo (not upgraded) starts from 5m+. I don't have 5m now, but I can match it up. I am of the thought that if I get a well-maintained Nigerian used one, it'd be great as I hear the car hardly gives issues. Am I being Pounds foolish, Pennywise? I know you guys would say I should go for the tokunbo obviously, does that mean I can't get a good Nigerian used one?

I also think the car is for people in the middle class who can afford to maintain it. So the risk of buying an ill-treated, not-maintain Nigerian used one will be less. Is that a wrong assumption?

Now for the mechanical aspect,

Is the car an overall good one? (Yes, I will properly maintain it when I get it). If it is prone to issues, I'd instead save myself the stress. I am coming from the German and American car manufacturers' side - BMW X5 and Ford Edge 08.

What should I be prepared for in terms of expenses, minor and major issues, etc., if I buy the Nigerian used (most likely)?

Lastly, is anything wrong with getting the V6 version compared to the V4? Thanks a lot for your response and forget my questions. I can't be too careful.

Thanks, guys.

Hello guys,

I need a flatmate to share an apartment with on the mainland (but close to the Island). I'd be working in Ikoyi and would have preferred the Island, but there are just so many issues with living on the Island. From water problem to the power supply, traffic, choosing what part of Lekki to stay(because one part is better than the other) e.g. The right part of Lekki is better than the left part, don't go beyond so so round-about, don't live downstairs, hidden fees, etc. I am just so confused.

My budget is 500k-600k so I'm looking to get a place around 1m-1.2m total package and split. I haven't found a place yet, but have seen some really standard & modern houses online (I've got a taste, I hope you do too?). If you're interested, please quote me and we can take it from there.

I am male, mature, Christian, work for myself, into I.T and open to both sex (preferable male, but a cool female is great too). I don't smoke, rarely drink, very conservative, and can show proof that I am working class - you should be too. This is urgent!
