ManAdii:Where are you located, please? |
ManAdii:Thanks for the response. Sometimes, pinpointing the exact issues with cars is just hard, no matter what, especially when they don't throw any DTC. I have run a live data stream before, but I will investigate the EGR, as you suggested, to see how it progresses. If only I could find a professional who understands these things and can walk with me. Are you one? |
Hello all, I’m seeking a reliable automotive electrical engineer in Lagos to diagnose and fix the ongoing fuel consumption and power loss issues in my car. I’ve tried many mechanics and electricians, but most don’t understand the problem. No disrespect, but my experience has been frustrating — many rely on guesswork, delegate work to apprentices, or rush jobs without proper diagnostics. This issue requires coordinated live data readings and interpretation, rather than trial and error. Vehicle Details: - Car: 2013 Honda Accord - Engine: 2.4L 4-cylinder i-VTEC (K24) - Location: Ikeja, Lagos The Problem: - Extremely poor fuel economy: Between 7–11 MPG (3–4.5 km/l), even after repairs. - Loss of performance: The car drives okay for the first few minutes, then the power drops, and the throttle feels hard to press - No current CEL (Check Engine Light): I’ve resolved the previous P0420 by replacing the cat with an OEM Tokunbo - All basic sensors and components have been replaced Replaced Components So Far: - MAF Sensor - Upstream & Downstream O2 Sensors - Catalytic Converter (OEM Tokunbo) - Fuel Pump & Fuel Rail - High-Pressure Fuel Pump (HPFP) - Purge Valve - Cleaned throttle body - Checked for vacuum leaks - Reset adaptations Despite all this, the issue persists. I’m convinced it’s one or two remaining faults, likely electrical or ECU-related, but I need someone who truly understands data stream diagnostics, electrical signals, and real-time performance analysis — not someone who just reads OBD codes. Could the exhaust system (muffler) be blocked, causing the car to choke? Could it be the ECU malfunctioning? Whatever it is, I'd rather use a verified diagnosis to figure it out. I scanned, and there are no DTCs. I’m exhausted and almost considering selling the car because of this. What I Need: - A real electrical engineer, not a guess-based mechanic - Someone with access to advanced diagnostics (OBD, live stream, volt/amp checks) - Preferably with Honda experience - Lagos-based. Any recommendations will be greatly appreciated. I'd also answer any questions you have for me regarding the car. Thanks! |
Sadly, I went to Ladipo yesterday, but they were all lost as I discussed it. The scan result shows I have a small EVAP leak. My car runs rich and seems to go into limp mode. I changed the purge valve and a hose connecting to the throttle body, which fixed a “check fuel cap" issue. After I did all these, my car came back to life. However, after two weeks, the problem started again. I suspect the MAF sensor, as it failed the traditional manual test. However, I do not want to change it yet, as I learnt that the MAF sensor can still fail this test if there is still a minor leak in the airflow. So I want to rule out all leaks before changing the MAF sensor. I hope I am making sense, my people. Please, what can I do moving forward? |
accelion:Hello again, Sirs. I am still waiting to hear from you ooo. Can I please get a recommendation for this? Do you know of any garage or car shop where I can do this in Lagos? I do not want these guys to be guessing where the leak might be from. I know there are some homemade DIY, but I'd use a professional. Thanks to you all and good morning. |
Good afternoon. I need help with running a smoke test to detect a vacuum leak in Honda Accord 2013. Is there anywhere I can do this in Lagos on the mainland? Thanks. |
Indeed |
@Op, you should get a reimbursement from the supposed winner. The question was made to look straightforward, but it isn't with a deceptive grammatical emphasis (colour) on the numbers just as in a typical mathematical or accounting exam setting. But here is the twist: The question was how much money was lost, not how much money and goods were lost. I’ll explain further... I am in the IT world but I know that money and goods are not the same in accounting, and will never get recorded in the same book. One is constant while the other isn't. $1 will always be $1, but the value of goods may vary due to many factors, like bulk purchases, low sales, etc. For instance, you can't give $1 to get $2, but you can get 3 goods for the price of one and the stock account will still balance (applying the discount code). So while $100 is missing from the sales book, which might be because of any other reason, even damage, the goods didn't get missing. It was sold. It wasn't a loss. However, another piece of money ($30) from the same cash register was taken out at the same time, making the total money (loss) taken out between the “thief and the cashier” during that transaction, that day, a total of $130. We can hypothetically say that the cashier gave $130 to the thief (assuming he didn't steal it) but didn't give the goods for free. Think about it, the answer couldn't have been that easy. Everyone will quickly say $100 without a doubt. There definitely must be a twist. |
devoracle:Do you mind sharing your portfolio through the email address provided, as instructed? Thanks. |
Balo7leke:My apologies for how it all seemed. Every other person sent their portfolio to the job email, and I don't see anything wrong with that. The job requires that you have a couple of websites you have worked on as an experienced expert. Again my apologies. |
Hello guys. Would you be kind enough to send the following details below to oily-mundane-0l@icloud.com? Thanks. - Your first name - Your portfolio (websites you have built.) - Your location should be Lagos, as I need to meet with you. - Any other work you have done that might help you get an edge. - How you want to be contacted. - P.S. You must know WordPress very well as you would be tested on it. There is no learning on the job. I'm sorry. You must be experienced. |
Well, it depends on what you use WordPress for but trust me, it goes way beyond the ordinary. This opportunity isn't for junior-level WordPress developers. You are being paid handsomely as a senior developer. I wish I could say more than this. By the way, it's a bad work ethic to learn on a live job; so many things can go wrong. |
Hello guys. I have an opportunity to bring a very experienced WordPress developer onboard a platform I am part of. I know this thread is about Upwork, and I won't want to derail it. But as I see there are a lot of developers here, I thought I should share. If you are confident, please find more details about the opportunity on this other thread. https://www.nairaland.com/7305730/need-two-seasoned-experienced-front-end |
I still need one more experienced WordPress developer with sound knowledge of the above languages. Unfortunately, the guys aren't satisfied with the portfolios shared. They need someone who has done a whole lot with WordPress, etc. If you are based in Lagos, that will be a plus, as I'd like to meet you. You can use the email address provided to share the requested details. I already got one person but there is still space for another. |
Unfortunately, you must know WordPress because you would not only be working with these languages but mostly on WordPress websites. Do you have a portfolio? Please email me at the address provided. You never can say. I might be impressed. |
Chatflick:Are you Dan? I emailed you through your website. I need your contact number. |
Hello guys. Here is a quick update: I went through the websites, but unfortunately, I would only proceed with two people for now. My apologies. While you all have great portfolios, I think more work needs to be done. The majority of the websites I saw were simply templates that were edited. Sadly, I'd need more than that. As I wrote earlier, this is a very competitive platform where only the best of the best can be accepted. Please see this update as a rejection mail if you don't hear back from me, and I hope you will not take it personally. However, I still need one more experienced WordPress, HTML, CSS, and Javascript expert to onboard. If you know anyone (including a female) that is very skilled, please don't hesitate to share this thread with them. Thanks. |
Hello guys. I am checking the portfolio websites sent and will revert accordingly. There are a few things I am looking out for. If I have any questions, I will be sure to ask. Thanks. |
MannyEl:Did you send me an email? Guys, if you could also include your Nairaland Username and phone number, please? So I can know who it is. Thanks, guys. |
Hello guys. Would you be kind enough to send the following details below to oily-mundane-0l@icloud.com. Thanks. - Your first name - Your portfolio (websites you have built.) - Your location (if you are Lagos like me, you’d be able to work with me.) - Any other work you have done that might help you get an edge. - How you want to be contacted. Also, guys, I have had a few still ask me the same questions I answered in my first post. But those that I was asked on the phone and I didn't address, please see below: - The pay is $50/hour at minimum, depending on how many hours you will take to deliver on the project. - I am not an agent! I am also a developer on the platform and just helping out. - Yes, you must know WordPress very well as you would be tested on it. There is no learning on the job. I'm sorry. You must be experienced. |
MannyEl:Yes, fortunately, there isn't much hardcore programming or coding to do, as most jobs would be done for businesses and individuals. I have replied your email. |
etoluw:Hello, please provide me with a number to call you on. Thanks. |
@etoluw, are you peradventure also familiar with WordPress? |
simplesol:Okay. I will get in touch with you soonest. I'm in transit now. |
simplesol:1. The job type can be anything from function calls to editing website codes or converting PSD to WordPress. It could also be conceptualizing a website based on a client's need. You could also be required to help fix simple things as small as updating a plugin or making a button change style on hover. The job type just varies depending on what clients want to be done. 2. You will make as much money as you can work. There is no limit to how much you can earn. In fact, you would be encouraged to take on as many jobs as possible. More money for you; more money for the company. Do you mind sharing a portfolio with me? |
donsheddy1:Sure, we can talk. It’ll be a pleasure. But you haven't asked me any questions as I requested. Also, I would like if the process I outlined could be followed. That way, other people can learn from my answers. If I have to call everyone, I might be by my computer all day. I hope you understand. Also, I want this to be imbounded. |
Hello guys. I am privileged to work for a foreign company that hires web designers and developers, and I want to bring two Nigerians on board. Male or female. I need a developer with cutting-edge skills in front-end languages, especially HTML, CSS, and Javascript(most important). What are the requirements? - You must be very good with the above languages as you will be tested with them by my guys abroad and me. - Knowing how to use WordPress will give you an edge. You will be tested on these too. - You must have a portfolio of websites you have develped and are running. They will be checked. - You must be able to communicate in the English language very well. Luckily, it is our lingua franca. - This is a life-changing opportunity that requires patience. It will take a few weeks for the onboarding process. So you must be patient as so many people are trying to get into the program. Those are the technical requirements for now. Benefits - You will be paid handsomely in USD. - You will gain a lot working with me. Trust me. - It isn't a 9-5 job; you work when you want. - It is a remote job. - If I am impressed with your skills and portfolio, I can provide a work environment for you. - Once again, you will smile to the bank in USD. As this is a life-changing opportunity, as it was for me, I will only be able to bring just two or three people on board yearly. You’d have just one shot at it. If you miss it, there isn't another opportunity. But I'll help out where possible. What do you need to do? - Ask me your intelligent questions. - Show me your portfolio websites or projects. - If I like what I see, I’ll schedule an online discovery meeting with you. - We move to the next step. Are you paying for anything to get selected? A CAPITAL NO! I REPEAT, NO. To the mods, I am not trying to sell anything. I am just a lucky person who doesn't want to hide what he found and wants to help a fellow Nigerian. If you need to cross-check anything with me, please let me know. Thanks. |
Collione:Thank you so much, @Collione, and @tobisunday, for the details shared. I will contact both of them to get their input and revert. I sincerely appreciate your time. |
tobisunday:Good morning. Thanks for this information. I will ask my mechanic to check the spider bearing and see if that fixes the issue. The noise is really giving me concern. Where is the “small boy” located? Do you mind sharing his details? I live around Ikeja environs in Lagos. Thanks. |
Collione:Okay, I won't. The gear selects just fine. It's just the terrifying scraping sound that's the problem. Could the problem be with the gear oil being short or gone? I plan on checking it today (DIY). |
Thanks for the response, Conner44. Do you have a check engine light? No, I don't. I have also comprehensively scanned the engine and the gear, and both came out clear. Break Caliper and wheel bearings? They have both been checked repeatedly without any issues. The mechanic I met here checked and said it had to do with the gear, as I guessed and thats the scary part. |
