Like Cindino said, anyone who thinks Germany is really bad and unbearable, there's nothing stopping you from packing your luggage and returning home...really, I think deep down the german people will be happy as there is one less foreigner to worry about!

@fesobi92. Someone who is deny visa has the right to collect his or her money back from Deutsch bank.the form to fill is on Deutsche Bank website so far u can give them evidence that the embassy deny u visa. It is different from someone who is already a student in Germany and want to go to another country to study. I don't think the person will b able to retrieve his money back until the end of one year.please house I stand to b corrected

wrong! if you get your admission to the US, you can apply for the visa from germany, close your blocked account and withdraw all your money. I know of someone in Bonn who did exactly this last winter.

Good Morning everyone

I am an ardent follower of this new thread since it began a while ago and it's been filled with amusing, annoying, helpful and snobish folks... All facets of every human characteristics is ably represented here.

But I have also noticed that there are very few people taking up bachelor's degree in Germany, as most are going for masters degrees. Bearing that in mind, I feel it's time to start a new trend/line of information for people who are willing to take up bachelors degrees in Germany.

I will be documenting my experience here (as I am in the process of applying for a bachelor's degree) and will be answering any questions that anyone may have in that regard. I also in return will be looking forward to learn more from the experiences of others

SOME BACKGROUND INFORMATION

I will be applying for a Bsc in Computer Science and a Bsc in informatics as my second option. All my documents are being processed in Germany from Language school, up to Studienkolleg and the University afterwards. I will be based in Cologne (this is where I hope to have my language course done). The student advisor in charge of my application suggested I take up an offer at a University of Applied Science (UAS) rather than a traditional research university (TU) because of the availability of job opportunities for students even before graduation. The jury is still out on what I will choose (Whether TU or UAS) but for now I will go along with his advice. They will also be handling the processing of my insurance as well.

I am being sponsored and therefore do not require opening a blocked account. Currently I am in the process of getting my WAEC and other certifications I had gotten afterwards, notarized at the German Embassy in Abuja. Hope to get that done by the end of today and I will be sending it via courier with DHL (I no get strength for NIPOST and their wahala abeg... Better soup na money kill am). If all goes well today, my documents should arrived in Germany by Thursday or Friday this week as DHL promised to have it delivered in 3 days.

My Journey So Far
My sponsor is an old friend of my dad and they lost touch for many years. Sadly he passed away while I was in high school. Fast forward to early this year, thanks to the power of social media (and my penchant for unnecessary research when I cant sleep) I reconnected with my dad's friend and turns out he was visiting Nigeria and Abuja was on his list. We met up and talked, asked about my plans for the future and I told him about my plans for Germany. He was really impressed when he found out I spoke a bit of German on my own (I studied online and can maintain a semblance of a basic conversation) and later said I should begin looking at study options in Germany for which he would pay for.

He recommended a Language school and I got in touch with them (and a few others in Berlin and Cologne as well), But the one my sponsor recommended were more than willing to work with me (they also have a campus in Berlin as well in case anyone is looking to go there). They offer a university pathway program for about 2600euros (incl. Language courses from A1-B1). Then studienkolleg and Universty afterwards.

I have other certifications but they are not recognised but Anabin (the directory for all things certification in Germany). So it is deemed that I have only WAEC, and this is why I have to take up studienkolleg for 2 semesters after my B1 language course (you cannot go past B1 if you are heading to Studienkollege).

If you are already in a public university or any institution recognized by National Universities Commmission (NUC) and want to transfer to Germany, you can avoid 1 year of studienkolleg by providing them with your transcripts of your time in school. With these you can apply directly to University after completing your B2 or C1 German course and taking the TestDAF exam.

So today, I will be visiting the German Embassy in Abuja and will get my documents shipped off afterwards... Its free what from what the embassy told me if you are notarizing you documents for University.... Will keep you updated

Cheers

Nice write up! Kudos to you. Try TNT instead instead of DHL, it's slightly cheaper but they take the same time to deliver.

God bless you real good bro. I have never been wrong choosing you as my right hand man.. (no let your head dey swell grin). Maybe we go end up as Merkel lawyer, so we fit dey maga some pipu cheesy cheesy

But truth of the matter is this: Some pipu needs to go back to school to do some more learning (Most especially english language). Imagine someone had to consult a dictionary to convince us about seal/stamp. grin grin and them say na over sabi book dey worry us. Issokay. As for me, I dont need to consult the dictionary at least for issues like this, neither do I need to inform a charge and bail lawyer to educate me on what has been written everywhere on Uni-assist and some respective school's website

Oga, If english is your problem, that's none of my business but telling me na over sabi book dey worry me shows you are not "well-cultured". most times, you give out wrong information & advice and when we try correcting you, you take it down south. whereas, your case and duel with the German embassy is still fresh in our RAM memory. we wont bring that further cos its of no need. So bros, biko wise up and be mindful of your public conduct.

That was rather insensitive, immature, ruthless and tacky of you. The guy feels bad already. Why would you conclude that this happened to him because he has ill luck. Why would you even attach something that involves error-vulnerable human processes to luck. Mistakes like this one happen occasionally and could fall on anyone. You think it cant happen to you? Do some growing up!

Don't criticize what you neither know nor understand! I was born and raised in the South west of nigeria and i'm used to hearing words like 'sorry', 'eeya', 'pele' and the likes being used to console and show sympathy in the occurrence of unfortunate incidents. But then I served in Benue and while serving I lost my dad and then all that people told me was 'Hard luck'. I had to ask why peeps were saying that and I was made to understand it's their own way of showing sympathy. That is their own equivalent of 'sorry', 'eeya', 'pele' e.t.c. So please try next time to find out the meaning and context of stuff before coming out guns blazing and using such harsh words.

Yes I did Boss.

Thank you for reaching out. I actually have certified all of my documents. My issue basically is
(a) I earlier applied only to a school and got reject; Now I want to apply to any other school that still have the admission for Winter on before it's closed. I hope it's not too late
(b) I don't want to have to send hard copy documents again with another 12k until I'm quite sure the admission is secured. I'd prefer schools with online application before final sending of hard copies.

Do you know any that fall into this category??

Danke Bruder!

Unfortunately I don't know of schools with only online applications but I see some peeps have informed you of some already. You don't have to spend 12k to post. with TNT u can post with around 7k and your docs will get to Germany within 3 days.

Hi everyone. Welcome to Part3: me sef join those wey dey pray for testimony oo!

Please folks, I applied to TUM before the deadline for 2 courses but I just got a reject for one!!!
So, it just dawned on me that I have been stocking all my eggs in a basket. If the other one doesn't work out too( which I'm seriously praying against), then my hopes for Winter is.....

Hence, my plea: which school with admissions for October still open can I apply for that is relatively easier and probably won't need me to send certified copies until admission is sure??

I'm looking at applying for Elect/ IT courses. I graduated with 5.7/7.0 in Elect/ Elect and have 8.0 in IELTS.

Any suggestion will be greatly appreciated!

Thanks Fam!

did u attend U.I?

i'll advise you to not limit yourself to only schools that don't require you to send certified copies of your docs. it doesn't cost so much to certify an send your docs if you plan well ahead. with your cgpa and IELTS you have a very high chance of getting admission offers to your choice courses if you write convincing letters of motivation and apply to other institutions that may require you to send certified docs, especially schools under uni-assist.

Lol. At your own exchange rate grin 09027822212 Thanks a lot!

According to what i've gathered from both this thread and the part 1 which preceded it, you can apply to uni assist and other schools in Germany with duly certified photocopies of your transcript regardless of whom it was addressed to. I stand to be corrected tho.

That is allowed, nothing wrong with dropping email address for ielts material.

There is nothing visa/admission related that can not be discussed here. If you can't say it here then there is something wrong with that question.

you refused to answer my question about why you took down my post describing how to use the pm feature tho.

It does.

Please stop asking for whatsapp number and other contact details, ask your question here

I see, so teaching a person how to use the pm feature too is in violation of the rules of the thread. Mind you, I see peeps here asking for and exchanging whatsapp, email addresses and facebook id's on this thread everyday. at least i've seen peeps drop emails on the thread almost on a daily basis for the past 1 Month especially those asking peeps to send them ielts materials.

You ought to know better and use your discretion to judge that not everything can be discussed on a public forum like this. I'm not yoruba but the Yorubas have a saying 'Gbogbo Aso ko la n sa loorun' which translates to : Not all types of fabric/clothing items are to be dried under the sun(in public). I know you're doing your job but please use your discretion in the discharge of your duties.

Vielen Dank.

Bros I hail o...

I Know you're not here to convince anyone, but pls advise a brother. I am a married man, as some may remember, and my mrs has a UK engineering degree in the bag already. what we are looking for is a place where there wont be much of a problem with her finding work while i am studying, cos this might be how we fund my second year. I am just trying to decide if canada or germany is best for her and for us. you know in the end, this whole struggle is for work after studying, and not for studying itself. pls advise your guy abeg. I am asking because i dont really follow the canadian threads. up until a few days ago, my heart was set on germany.

You ask a complicated question. In this case both Germany and Canada have their respective merits. If your wife is able to secure a good job upon arrival in Canada, which I think will be relatively easier compared to Germany, then most if not all of her earnings will be used to pay for your tution. It will be easier for both of you to settle into the country due to the fact that english is spoken there. The disadvantage here is the high cost of tution.
If you choose Germany however, you have the advantage of not having to pay tution fees, but it'll be more difficult for your wife wife get a job cos of of language. she will need over a year to learn the language to a level where she'll she'll able to secure a good job. You can also work while studying....but the bottom line is, nobody can give u the perfect advice. You know all the facts and intricate details we aren't privy to so you're in the best position to weigh all your options and choose d more feasible option, we can only give u a few facts and near accurate assumptions. Weigh your options and most importantly, PRAY. God will never mislead you.

I think he has already deposited €8040. The argument is whether or not DB will send confirmation without extra €50, making it €8090.

I say he will get it. However, he knows he won't be getting €670 per month...that too can be settle later anyway.

the thing is DB deducts a transfer fee of 50 €. so you need to make a deposit of 8090 so that after DB takes their charges you have 8040 in the account and then this amount gets blocked in the account and you can then get the notification. but if you don't have up to 8040 in your account the account won't be blocked and you won't get a notification. I stand to be corrected on this tho.
