NaijaEfcc: so how come the North is the most backward and least developed, despite having ruled Nigeria more than the south? Believe me the south would have gone far if not for the north that is holding us back!!! and how is the north holding you back? When even at the state level you can't progress.... The north has contributed to the development of Nigeria. And I doubt if u have ever been to the north... If not Lagos which is the most developed.. Were in the south is moving forward ..is it Niger delta or the erosion ridden south east, the least region contributing to Nigerias gdp |

Mrchippychappy: Normally I wouldn't create a thread such as this because of the possibility of atheists and other unscrupulous characters hijacking this thread to promote their agenda, however at some point I believe the truth MUST be brought to light.
I read through G.O Adeboye Sunday speech here (excerpts quoted below) and I was terribly shocked to read what a so called revered Man of God (or as some would say these days, god of Men)shamelessly said to his church members from the pulpit on Sunday. This god of men went against ALL what the bible talks about in regards to the qualities of a TRUE Man of God. All through the bible, it is written that as Christians we should :
1. NEVER make a show of our righteousness.
Matthew 6:1 When you do good deeds, don’t try to show off. If you do, you won’t get a reward from your Father in heaven.
When you give to the poor, don’t blow a loud horn. That’s what show-offs do in the meeting places and on the street corners, because they are always looking for praise. I can assure you that they already have their reward.
When you give to the poor, don’t let anyone know about it.[a] 4 Then your gift will be given in secret. Your Father knows what is done in secret, and he will reward you.
2. NEVER mock or rejoice over the unfortunate events that has befallen others, be them your enemies or friends. Proverbs 24:17 - Do not rejoice when your enemy falls, and let not your heart be glad when he stumbles.
Proverbs 17:5 - Whoever mocks the poor insults his Maker; he who is glad at calamity will not go unpunished.
Proverb 19: 29 - Judgments are prepared for scorners, and stripes for the back of fools.
Ephesians 5:4 ESV - Let there be no filthiness nor foolish talk nor crude joking, which are out of place, but instead let there be thanksgiving.
So you could imagine how shocked I was when I read that a Christian, let alone a so called man of God could make fun of the unfortunate events that befell his fellow country men in the past. Below are some excerpts from the filth that this so called man of God recklessly spewed on his Sunday service
Does this sound like what a responsible man of God would preach to his members on a service day? if truly he adopted someone then it would be said he did it out of his good will and if that truly is the case, then what did the bible say about good deeds? see Matthew 6:1 -3 .
Does the man of God really have to make fun of the adopted girl's traumatic situation? Does the Man of God have to be so insensitive to the unfortunate event of starvation that led to the death of 3 million people during the Civil war? Has he truly not read the bible verses
Proverbs 24:17 , Proverbs 17:5 , Proverb 19: 29
Did he not read the part in the Bible when the starvation was so severe that people ate their own children? Does he not know about the fate of the Edomites and Amorites when they refused to help their starving Israeli brethren?
All these are sensitive issues and if no one in the bible thought it necessary to mock the people who went through such then how can a so called G.O say such things from the most holy place in the Church, which is the pulpit?
Also, does the man of God really need to use a trumpet to sing his own praise? does he really need to talk about the unfortunate events of others in such a demeaning manner? Aren't there other ways to speak in favour of peace and unity without the subtle mockery (a very poor subtlety if I may add ).
I would conclude with the following verses:
Matthew 24:24 NIV - For false messiahs and false prophets will appear and perform great signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect.
Matthew 7:15-20 NIV -15 “Watch out for false prophets. They come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ferocious wolves. 16 By their fruit you will recognize them. Do people pick grapes from thornbushes, or figs from thistles?
John 14:15 New King James Version - “If you love Me, keep[a] My commandments.

TimFisher: *BIBLICAL TRADITIONS OF IGBOS WHICH SHOWS THAT IGBOS ORIGINATED FROM ISREAL*
More facts are still emerging about the Origin of Igbos which shows their customs and traditions was traced from the ordinances of the Jewish religion from the tribe of Gad,it was assumed that Gad assimilated and imbibed the ordinances to his sons which are the present Igbos during his sojourn.
*1. NSO NWANYI* In Igboland women live apart from their husbands and neither cook for them or enter their husband’s quarters when she is in her period, she is seen as unclean . Even up till today such practice is still applicable in some parts of Igboland especially by the traditionalists. Before a woman can enter the palace of Obi of Onitsha , she will be asked if she is in her period, if yes, she will be asked to stay out.
*Leviticus 15: 19-20* When a woman has her monthly period, she remains unclean, anyone who touches her or anything she has sat on becomes unclean.
*2. ANA OBI* An Igbo man’s ancestral heritage, called “Ana Obi” is not sellable, elders will not permit this. If this is somehow done due to the influence of the West the person is considered a fool and is ostracized by the community.
*1 king 21:3* I inherited this vineyard from my ancestors, and the lord forbid that I should sell it, said Naboth.
*3. IKUCHI NWANYI* Igbos have practiced the taking of late brothers wife into marriage after the death of her husband. Now it is rarely done but except in very rural villages of the bush.
*Deuteronomy 25:5* A widow of a dead man is not to married outside the family; it is the duty of the dead man's brother to marry her.
*4. IGBA ODIBO* In Igboland, there is a unique form of apprenticeship in which either a male family member or a community member will spend six(6) years (usually in their teens to their adulthood) working for another family. And on the seventh year, the head of the host household, who is usually the older man who brought the apprentice into his household, will establish (Igbo: idu) the apprentice by either setting up a business for him or giving money or tools by which to make a living.
*Exodus 21:2* If you buy a Hebrew slave, he shall serve you for six years. In the seventh year he is to be set free without having to pay you anything.
*5. IRI JI OFUO* In Igboland , the yam is very important as it is their staple crop. There are celebrations such as the New yam festival (Igbo: Iri Ji) which are held for the harvesting of the yam. New Yam festival (Igbo: Iri ji) is celebrated annually to secure a good harvest of the staple crop. Those old days it is an abomination for one to eat a new harvest before the festival. It's a tradition that you give the gods of the land first as a thanks given.
*Deuteronomy 16:9* Count 7 weeks from the time that you begin to harvest the crops, and celebrate the harvest festival to honor the lord your God, by bringing him a freewill offering in proportion to the blessing he has given you. Celebrate in the lord's presence together with your children, servants, foreigners . Be sure that you obey my command, said the lord.
*6. IBE UGWU* In Igboland it's a tradition that the male children are circumcised on the 8th day. This tradition is still practice till date.
*Leviticus 12:3* On the eighth day, the child shall be circumcised.
*7. OMUGWO* In Igboland, there a practice known as "ile omugwo ". After a woman has given birth to a child, a very close and experienced relative of her, in most cases her mother is required by tradition to come spend time with her and her husband. In which she is to do all the work of the wife, while the new mom’s only assignment to the baby will be to breastfeed. This goes on for a month or more. In the Igbo old tradition, at this time, the new mom lives apart from her husband, would not cook or enter his quarters.
*Leviticus 12:1-4* For seven days after a woman gives birth, she is ritually unclean as she is during her monthly period. It will be 33 days until she is ritually clean from the loss of blood; she is not to touch anything that is holy. thanks man u just cracked me up ,how did someone as dumb as u get hold of the internet. U need this

Foreign Affairs › Re: Panic On London Train After Man Reads Passages From The Bible by Acepen(m): 10:25pm On Oct 02, 2017 |
FisifunKododada: Nigerian society is too tainted with religious extremism for even the highly educated to function properly. If you are highly educated and you still believe Jesus walked on water/rose from the dead or Muhammed was a peaceful human being - then your education has failed you. The purpose of education is to promote awareness/consciousness. That's why if you meet the top scientists/intellectuals in the world, they tend to exude a zen like (or yogi like) quality. One possible reason for this is that they have reached a point were they are fully convinced that their ignorance far outweighs their knowledge. Only arrogant people say things like: "There is God." or "There is no God." The truth of the matter is nobody knows. And I mean NOBODY. Look at all the problems we have created in Nigeria because of people who are "absolutely sure" of the existence of a sky Daddy - Boko Haram, killing of twins; prosperity gospel aka spiritual corruption; killing of 'witches'; etc. Yet, the most significant consequence of our extreme religious belief is that Nigeria is a country of 180 million people, the vast majority of whom are AWAITING the end of the world. If you believe the world is coming to an end, why would you be FULLY committed to make your society a better place? Most Nigerians believe that this world does not matter because they are gonna START A NEW LIFE WITH THEIR SKY DADDY after the world ENDS. This is one of the most fundamental reason behind Nigeria's underdevelopment. So, until a sizable number of Nigerians are committed to creating HEAVEN on this Nigerian EARTH, rather than awaiting some sky Daddy to descend from the sky and save us, corruption and underdevelopment continues to no end. let wait and see If God is or not death will reveal the truth |
