Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr bans players from eating goat meat & pepper soup.

Super Eagles head coach, Gernot Rohr has banned players from eating goat meat and pepper soup as they prepare for the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia.
This comes after consecutive losses to England and the Czech Republic in the World Cup friendly matches.

Rohr is now restricting the players who are camped in Austria from some certain meals as he bids to keep them in good condition for the tournament.

In an interview with Omasports TV, the German tactician stated that the Super Eagles players will not be permitted to eat goat meat, pepper soup, and other spicy foods.

He said, “The reason is because nutritionist will tell you that too much spicy foods is not good for athletes.
“We have to observe what they tell us, and the medical team agreed that we cannot eat too much fat and too much spice."

But he also revealed that there may be instances whereby the ban could be lifted.

He said, “For instance, there can be an exception on Sunday the night we will be here, there will be a little Austrian music, perhaps a little African food, from Madam ambassador so we will see.”

Ogun State government has declared Tuesday, June 12, 2018, as a public holiday to enable residents to celebrate the new Democracy Day.

The Secretary to the State Government, Taiwo Adeoluwadisclosed this in a statement today saying the day would also be used to celebrate the recent conferment of a posthumous national honour of Grand Commander of the Federal Republic on Chief Moshood Abiola by President Muhammadu Buhari.

The Amosun-led administration had consistently declared June 12 as a public holiday in the state in recognition of the democracy hero and annulment of the June 12, 1993, elections.
“This year will be no exception as befitting events including a Democracy Walk to be led by the State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun have been lined up for the celebration. “The walk scheduled to take off from the June 12 Cultural Centre, Kuto, Abeokuta at 7: 00 a.m will take participants through major roads in the state capital to the Abiola’s family house at Oke-Ido, Gbagura where prayers will be offered for the martyr,” the statement read in part.
The State Government officials, activists, civil society organisations, democracy volunteers, civil servants, labour and trade unions, students, market women/men and other stakeholders are expected to participate in the Democracy Walk.

Popular Nigerian musician, Iyanya has insisted he is not jealous of Tekno’s success.

He also maintained he is not surprised at how Tekno’s career has risen.

DAILY POST reports that the ‘Pana’ crooner is signed on the Triple MG record label, which Iyanya founded alongside his friend, Ubi Franklin.

Ubi later left to pitch his tent with Mavin Records owned by Don Jazzy.

However, Iyanaya is currently on the Temple Music platform.

Wale Aboderin, Chairman of Punch Newspaper, has died.

He died at 6.05 a.m. on Wednesday after a heart surgery at the First Cardiology Consultants, Ikoyi, Lagos, Punch newspaper reported Thursday.

Mr Aboderin, until his death, was also the Chairman of Punch Commercial Printing Limited and Lukahed Properties Limited.

He attended the Government College, Ibadan, Oyo State and trained as a pilot in the United States.

Mr Aboderin was a sports enthusiast and philanthropist. He was the Founder and Chairman of Dolphins Female Basketball Foundation, and also a former Chairman of the Lagos State Basketball Association. He was also Vice-President of the Nigerian Basketball Supporters Club.

Aged 60, he is survived by his wife, Titilayo, and children.

Zinedine Zidane has confirmed he will leave Real Madrid this summer.

The Frenchman has decided to walk away after guiding the club to a third Champions League victory in a row.

Zidane took over at Real in January 2016 as Rafa Benitez's replacement after working with the club's Castilla side.

Los Blancos defeated Atletico Madrid to win on penalties to win the Champions League that season before beating Juventus last year and Liverpool on Saturday.

Music producer GospelOnDeBeatz, whose real name is Gospel Chinemeremu Obi, has been robbed at a hotel in South Africa.

The producer, who went to South Africa for a shoot, lodged in Maslow Hotel only to have 7,000 Rands stolen from his room, leaving him with no money to get by for the remainder of his stay.

He took to his Instagram Story to say that the hotel wouldn't cooperate with him and release CCTV footage to explain what really happened.

Gospel says that he was placed in a room in the hotel where he unpacked all his things then put his money in a drawer. He was later moved to a different room at about 8pm yesterday but he forgot to remove the money from the drawer as he moved. He then left the hotel for a shoot only to remember the money later on.

When he returned to the hotel this morning and reported the incident, he was granted access to his former room to search for the money but it was no longer in the drawer.

Hotel record shows that someone used the key card to gain access into the room at about 10pm, two hours after he left the room. He has asked the hotel to check CCTV footage to know who went into the room but his request was denied. Instead, the hotel promised to carry out investigations later.

He has now been asked to move out of the hotel because he is unable to pay for a room after his money was stolen.

Manchester City assistant manager and former Gunners captain Mikel Arteta was strong favourite to succeed Arsene Wenger.

Emery emerged as the unanimous choice following a recruitment process in which all candidates were spoken to.
