postmann: says who, thief? The article said your neighbours would wipe you off at a go....
Evidence will be nice, military facts, statistics..... not a mere article.
postmann: You keep looking for military battles Internationally credited to SA, i wish you good luck in your search.
WWI - kicked the Germans out of Namibia WWII - kicked the Italians out of East Africa and battled them in North Africa Korea - Medals of Honor from the USA Angola - Killed almost 10 000 Cubans, countless insurgents DRC - Bombed the M23 out of existence and snatched a sniping record, best ever recorded in African soil.

....just to add, we not interested in "logic", we're interested in FACTS that can be proven.... If you cannot prove it, don't bother posting it. |
Foreign Affairs › Re: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by ActivateKruger: 12:56pm On Oct 29, 2014 |
postmann: And there's a minimum acceptable level of logic here. If one presents a source, do not assume it has been thrashed before, it doesn't matter how often it has been said. Fact is fact,no matter how worn.
Also simple truths don't always need source, it just a tactless and lousy excuses you fools use to deny truth. Paper tigers. Them your posts are nothing but derailments. Military facts in a military thread or go start your own runaway thread which we won't bother entertaining. |
Foreign Affairs › Re: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by ActivateKruger: 12:40pm On Oct 29, 2014 |
postmann: on paper, boy, on paper. SA military = paper Tigers. There's a way we debate in this thread, you post something you back it up with a valid source. So far you are failing to provide any. |
Foreign Affairs › Re: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by ActivateKruger: 12:36pm On Oct 29, 2014 |
postmann: which country turns around a pariah, dilapidated weak military institution around in 2 years ? Answer : no country. So if SA is military is down and out in 2012, it still is today. Have another try.
And i don't fall for the well-worn "out-dated news" strategy. When the article was released, SA was the best military in Africa after Egypt. What's your point? |
Foreign Affairs › Re: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by ActivateKruger: 12:32pm On Oct 29, 2014 |
EVarn: Outdated and poorly researched articles does not carry any weight, isnt it this same 'poorly fed and underequipped' troops that have been pushing boko haram back into gwoza and sambisa forest in the past three months?,if the NA didnt have jets and helicopters as alleged by the article, what are they using in their continous bombardment and aerial assault in the north-east,the air force has conducted over 5000 aerial bombardment on boko haram bases and hideouts,in the last five months,i say again, what are they using in conducting these assaults?,kites?,hot-air balloons?...seriously,you embarrase yourself whenever you attempt to think and then write.no wonder south africa has stagnated! Article is less than a week old, Its very dated. And we need links which prove your statement to be valid, independent sources. |

postmann: I was actually expecting your excuses. A 2012 article is outdated ? You think military structures are built likr blocks of flats. That article rightly pointed that it would take decades of 7billion to 11billion rands anually for your pathetic military to even be up to par with Rwanda.
I never thought you'd own up. You're the hallmark of a new level of shame and cowardice. Hehehehe. Let me see, another dummbo who has never seen this article... page back to 2012 in this thread, you will find bullet holes South Africans made in that article.... Augububu and Henry don't even bother talking about it.. And yes, we have spent R4bn on a single exercise just a few months back. Invalid argument |
Foreign Affairs › Re: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by ActivateKruger: 11:47am On Oct 29, 2014 |
EVarn: really, saffers on this thread must be getting really desperate,to resort to so much lies and half truths.how can you call a country that is spending over N1trillion{approx:$7billion} + a $1billion supplementary in 2014,is has a weak and underequipped military?,how can a nation that is giving advanced training to its troops in advanced military nations of the world,a weak nation?,if the current military budget were to continue over the span of the next 10 years, then the NAmF is going to be the most powerful military of the continent.even now most african nations cannot match us in sheer firepower,if the whole ECOWAS countries were ally together to fight nigeria,we will simply make quick work of them, they know that, thats why the ghanaian military chief said "an unstable nigeria,is an unstable west africa,it also spells doom for africa.that can never be allowed",can the same be said of SADAC?,tanzania alone will pose more than enough threat to SA.south africa can never lead the black race, its a puppet nation! These make the Nigerian Armed Forces weak; - Corruption in leadership - Poor training - Poor equipment - Infiltration by BH
Money is not solving your problem because of the first point. |

overhypedsteve: no. Boko haram was a comical group before the aftermath of the libyan war and the Tuareg militants in the Maghreb. The connection, experience and equipment that Boko HAram has in its control will make the M23 rebels look like a Boyscout club. I ask Nigeria to ask the SANDF to get rid of BH, it will be a job done - easy. |

Wow, so professional. Ass-handed for loosing 13 soldiers? Nigeria lost 3000+ soldiers while trying to cross a river..... Do you want me to do a comparison graph? |

Henry120: They have 100 times better militaries than the SANDF, so what does that make you? My friend, I only take NATO FORCES (and Israel) seriously because they take themselves so. You can be a 100 times bigger in numbers than the SANDF but our professionalism can blow a hole in you, go check how many holes our armed forces have made through out history. |
Foreign Affairs › Re: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by ActivateKruger: 12:08am On Oct 29, 2014 |
agaugust: The current military weapons and equipment of Nigeria CANNOT be fully known by internet search because of massive purchase of secret hardware for Boko Haram war.
However, a few points on what we know shows Nigeria is superior overall to South Africa, e.g.
150,000 man battle tested army
30 + 40 = 70 combat helicopters
World class ISTAR aircraft with very long range capability and state-of-the-art EW equipment
660 Artillery guns
500 Amphibious armoured vehicles
One of the world's biggest and most modern OPV and IPV force
Military use spy Satellites
. I said counter my post with Google links not make-up your own stats. ...... I'm waiting. |

Henry120: I don't think the russians, poles, Indians, turks, and Brazilians can be classified as less professional armies.
It is at the discretion of the soldier to seat where he thinks it's comfortable for him.
Gecko, Seleka already imported those. We'll pass. Third-world armies. Hardly anything professional about them. |

Henry120: It is common military practice, Nothing wrong with it. Besides you fight from outside the APC, not inside it. Common in which formal army besides the aged less professional eastern European armies, Taliban, Toyota-riding militias and Nigeria? And besides, why waste money in designing a vehicle with a roof when soldiers would want to seat outside..... Then come buy our Gecko ATV, it's well suited for that purpose. |

Dummy, the Igirigi is an LAV with a ballistics protection of Stanag level 2, and boy are we happy with it.
Our IGIRIGI doesn't go to some AAD show, it goes straight to the field where it is needed.
Like a true Armoured personnel carrier. For sure it wouldn't go there, people wouldn't even look at it. |

Foreign Affairs › Re: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by ActivateKruger: 10:53pm On Oct 28, 2014 |
postmann: A large and long overdue review of South Africa's defence capabilities and needs, now in the phase of public consultation, paints a grim picture. The country has too few fighting men and women, often with old or useless equipment, often without the discipline required to constitute an effective fighting force, little ability to deploy them rapidly, little by way of heavy equipment to back them up and a severely limited ability to communicate with them once they are in the field. You making me wanna sleep..... do you know how many things have happened since that article was released? Osama Bin Laden was still alive, Gadaffi was still running Libya and all are history together with that article. |
