It's sad to read some of the comments on this topic. Everything is not black and white. Every rich person in Nigeria is not corrupt. Not every government official is a crook and not every poor or young person in Nigeria a lovely saint. Where do you think half of the new crooks and thugs in government came from? The young. And there are many waiting in line for their turn. People are saying NOI stole money and sold out Nigeria to 'her white masters'. OK if that is the case show us the proof and explain your position. Some said she should have changed the country. Do you think it's easy to change a country full of powerful people who would kill you and your family if you try and stop them from maintaining their power base? It is very easy to shout from the sidelines that you would change the country if you were president etc. Of course people are angry with the leadership but the bad situation in the country is too deep and complex. It is not that easy. Read between the lines and try to objectively see who is actually doing a good job and who is stealing. I know I could not handle the pressures and danger involved in trying to single handedly battle the dark forces that exist in this country. I hope her mother comes back safe. |

Here is a link to the campaign page. http://igg.me/p/221599?a=34228 . It is to help raise the capital to produce a full season of the show. Here's a write up about the crowdfunder. Created by Adamu Waziri, a Nigerian animator and produced by his company EVCL, Bino and Fino is an African educational cartoon show, currently in production, about a brother and sister who live in a modern day city in sub- Saharan Africa. In each episode Bino and Fino, with the help of their friend Zeena the Magic Butterfly and their family, discover and learn things about the world. The show is for children mainly between the ages of 3 and 6. The series teaches aspects of African history, culture and languages to them. To help make the completed 26 episode full 1st season possible, your assistance is needed. The filmmakers want to raise $50,000 in 45 days. They currently have a 24-minute TV feature of the cartoon show which has been broadcast in the UK, South Africa, online for free and at festivals to a growing fan base of kids and parents. Here are some quotes from fans on the show's Facebook Page. ‘I LOVE BINO AND FINO, and so does my son!!!’ ‘We don’t have African cartoons so this coming now is a breath of fresh air. But I’d love it if kids can get to watch it on local stations. Job well done.’ ‘Our daughter, 19 months old, just counted to 10 in Yoruba while watching Bino and Fino!’ With the funds raised, they will be able to produce the 26 episode season and get it to market. $50,000 is only part of the budget needed. The project has already received production funding from various private investors and institutions. The show has been featured on Vox Africa, CNN, the BBC amongst others. It's also already received interest from sales agents, broadcasters and distributors. The goal is a 2013 debut of the series. You can ‘like’ its Facebook page here. http://www.facebook.com/binoandfino Watch the Pilot episode here http://youtu.be/rQ5sOMOYwkQ and then head over to their Indiegogo crowdfunding campaign here http://igg.me/p/221599?a=34228 to make your contribution. You will be a part of introducing a new African voice into the world of children’s entertainment. |
OKX: @AdamuW@OKX Please feel free to use it. It's all brainstorming and ideas. Glad you like the idea. |
Hi OKX, Let's work on the principle that I don't know your brief from your client of the direction you intend to take the short if it's your own private work. That aside, here are my thoughts. 1: Based on the story/previz at the moment the reaction of the big guy is funny but for my personal taste lacks a sharpness. The way he looks around to see what hit him and where it came from then walks around to hit him is currently one smooth motion. In my mind I see a more Daffy Duck and Bugs Bunny interaction between the two. Quick, fast, snappy with speed variations to bring out the comedy more. But that could just be my taste and direction. Damseremie was fine with it. 2: If one could change the story then I would handle it differently. I would go nuts with the effect of the guy throwing the match over his shoulder. For example the match would hit the guy, set him on fire. He would run around like a mad chicken bumping into stuff, setting off a chain reaction that eventually results in the destruction of the office in about 15 seconds or less. Meanwhile the smoker is oblivious. You could still even incorporate the slap at the end. I'm just brainstorming. But as I said before what you have is cool already and my way isn't necessarily better. Just feedback. Looking forward to the finished piece. |
It's looking very promising. Looking forward to the final piece and the final edit. I maybe would have made the reaction of the bigger guy quicker and snappier if that makes any sense. To push the laughs. Maybe try different reaction times/speeds to see which feels funnier. Nice one. |
Wonderful work by the talented guys at Sporedust studios. Nigerian animation is starting to pick up. There are many projects going on behind the scenes that will be completed in the next 2 years which will step things up. Luckki1001: I must commend the maker/author of this animation for this top-drawer cartoon. And to think that it was done by only one person, a Nigerian for that matter, using one computer (I guess) makes me really proud to be a Nigerian. The quality is top notch. Please keep it up. I don already download amIt was actually done by a team of guys which is great because it shows team work. |
maclatunji: Don't get me wrong, I just wanted to confirm that my memory is intact and I wasn't hallucinating. Trust me, I understand how difficult it is to build a brand/business in Nigeria. Your efforts are acknowledged and appreciated. No problem at all @maclatunji we're not really in this to be appreciated. Your memory is well and intact! The project has been on for a while now. And you are right building from scratch in Nigeria is not easy. Kobojunkie: What the heck kind of nigerian names are bino and fino? And those do not look anything like Nigerians. Abeg make una add real Nigerian/African features o jare! What 'Nigerian' features would those be and what names would you like? |
maclatunji: ^You guys have been working on this for some time. If I am not mistaken, Bino and Fino started out as muppets. These things take time. A lot goes into it. We'll keep working on the project because we passionately believe it is needed for kids out there and so do parents we've spoken to. We've finished the 1st TV feature and are the first in this region of the world to do so. We are now producing a whole new season of 26 episodes which will be completed next year. The muppets as you put are still here. ![]() |

The wonderful Nigerian educational cartoon for kids, Bino and Fino, is now available for download and streaming here http://www.binoandfino.com/ . The show has been aired in the U.K. and in South Africa to great reviews. It has been featured in Arise magazine, CNN and the BBC to name a few. The Bino and Fino cartoon is focused on helping to educate and entertain children whilst giving them Nigerian and African cultural references. Here are reviews from fans of the show: [flash=420,315] https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HlLds_J0HMs?version=3&hl=en_GB[/flash] [flash=420,315] https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4ZVk5aRyyH8?version=3&hl=en_GB[/flash] |
@Lafem, good to see you are still cooking up stuff. Looking forward to seeing it. A while back you were threatening to leave the animation thing entirely so it's great to know you didn't. |
Lafem:Lafem. Thanks man. It's been a long time. How are things? I was actually thinking about where you might be and if you were still doing your pioneering work in the Nigerian animation field. |
igbo2011:Thank you very much. popoyeh:Trust me when I say we don't intend to rest. We'll see this project to it's natural conclusion good or bad. It's been going for over 3 years so one CNN article, though nice to have, doesn't mean we've arrived. lynx200:Thanks. Don't worry we know many improvements can be made. As you know it's a step by step process. As for 'Empty Barrels' that's fine. Constructive criticism is welcome. The rest is ignored. |
Aseye:Well it's a nice spotlight for a few seconds which will be forgotten soon so we keep pushing on. But as you said we have to let the world know about the industry in Nigeria. But more importantly we need to let Nigerians know we exist and to respect the profession. There's a lot more work to be done on that front because I know many people don't respect the sector, especially when it comes to paying for it. |
Hello @Doncigalo. All enquiries can be sent to info*at*evcl.tv . |
@Xto . I hear what you are saying. To be honest I think we might be on the same page. Slightly different standpoints but that's life. All the best with 'Things Fall Apart' . I had no idea you were part of the production crew. I wish you and your team all the success with it. And as @Reactor said, well done for making Nigerian history. Thank you for the feedback on Bino and Fino. Nice to hear your kids were hooked on the trailer. The more kids we reach and educate with it the better. We're working on pushing forward so we'll see how far the project goes. All the best. |
Thanks to everyone for their support and kind words. PHIPEX:We're working on getting it on Nigerian TV. Here you have to pay to get on TV. So we're in the process of locking down sponsors. Once done you will get to see the show on Nigerian TV. pretty_boi:Thanks. We're already 3 years deep into this project and are implementing most of what you said. We had to prove it is something that has an audience first. And that has been proved. We're just going step by step. adozie:Don't worry. This isn't a scam project!lol. |
@Zpixel . Thanks man. We're ALL exposing our industry though. The competitions you have won for your work on the international front. The animations especially the political ones you do. Airing them on Youtube so people could get some light relief earlier on this year. It all goes in phases. Bino and Fino could tank and another project like the 'Things Fall Apart ' one from Xto or something from you could take over. We all just keep pushing. Have a good week. |
Hello Xto. First of all let me say I'm not interested in beef but progression. Read my posts both current and past. Even in what I posted on this I said there are two angles. And gave the crew respect for finishing the project and getting it out there because this is a business. I also said that our own cartoon Bino and Fino could be a lot better with more budget and time. In fact I'm working hard to get the financing to do new better episodes. I always objectively critique my work against the target I want to achieve. Isn't that what all the companies like Pixar and Disney do? We must keep pushing. I am not beefing because I say something could be better. Beefing is counter productive and immature. However, in this creative field I feel we have to be able to criticize constructively and also take it. I want Nigerian animators to shine on the world stage. that means we have to be ruthless when we assess ourselves against the U.U> , S.Korean, European, Chinese, South African and Japanese companies. You don't have to agree with me on this and vice versa. As long as there's a progressive dialogue with no insults then I'm fine. All the best. |
so as to inspire myself to aspire for far greater thingz. Seriously in love with your work and will be looking forward to buying the full movie, if there will be one.
