I know many igbos who attend military and federal government colleges in the north, no-one treated them differently because they were Igbo.
One of my good friends attended the Nigerian Military School in Zaria and never had any problems there.
On the other hand i know many black people who attended white elite schools in the US and the UK that had serious problems simply because of the colour of their skin. Fallacy u ve believed as result of delusion. So Igbos should be treated differently in Naij military? How of ur Igbo friends were saved when Islamic fundamentalist started sectarian riot in the north?! |

Weird in most places right? Not in America, as for most places, you must be properly identified before you are admitted. If you are a foreigner, you can only be admitted if you come along with your international passport. Imagine how uncomfortable it gets putting your passport in your back pocket or hip pocket or the risk of losing it all together. Well, to be admitted in most places of revelry in MAerica, it is your passport that gains you entrée. because of strict liability, bars and clubs must verify ID and age of patrons before you are served alcohol. US drinking age is 21; and it's strictly enforced unlike in Naija where it's 18 and nobody enforces it. |

castro316: Bros abeg if u feel too big to take a job, then take a hike. This job came with descriptions that u can take or leave why criticize it when u weren't forced to accept it. There are ppl like me who will be happy to do what it takes to get that truck. Most of the trucks u see on the road are more than 10 yrs oldand still working fine and if u really know what a truck gets for a trip, u will have a run for ur money. And I have not seen a nice offer of a truck after three yrs. For example a truck costs N18 millon divide it by 2 as salvage value (that's the value of what's left of the truck just saying) that's N9 million. On getting the truck do u know how much it takes to hire a truck u own? That's abt N100,000 PER TRIP plus trustworthy customers u will get during ur three yrs of service so before u complain, do ur home work well. A very good opportunity if I may say Good submission, but the engines and Trans are Mercedes Benz engineered. They can go 1 million miles-1.6m km if well taken care of. N100k doesn't cover our cost of diesel. It takes about N120-N150k to get ur truck in shape for a long haul like that. Trucks charge between N350-N500 to haul dead weight like cement to the core north. After expenses, ur take home should be around N200k per trip. So if u can just make one trip in a wk, u make 200k=N800k in a month- u can make 9.6m in yr-( this is a conservative estimate) |

tunery004: Once again thank you for ur well taught of response, u are right 3yrs is just down the line, and one may not even make enough to own a truck in that period, and also one could make more than that also.
Personally, I av a plan and a truck thing is not it, I have wot I do with which am satisfied to an extent. Bro getting a truck is good but just understand that 3yrs of ur life will be devouted to the project, am currently studying for my post graduate degree and I plan to have more degrees, u can't do that following a truck all through war torn places.
The risk outweighs the benefit, the life span of the truck on Nigerian road is less than 3 yrs, its actually 3yrs for developed economies, the conditions, paying for damages cos there would definitely be one case, what of robbery at night, what of the mischievousness of the drivers, they been there b4 u and would definitely outsmart u, cos dey would be wit the truck at all times, while u may decide to rest in a hotel. Oga so much to consider, finally how do u explain to your woman that you don't know how many times u would be able to be home in 3 yrs and u don't know which state you will be the next day.
I can go on and on refreshrate: If life gives you lemons make lemonade using Dangote sugar. If theres no insurance if you all come together as drivers, form a cooperative and sign up with an HMO to take care of the insurance thing would that not take care of the issue?
Im guessing like your colleagues most of you are not married, so the cover should be adjusted and initial fee reduced. Hey what do i know?
Last i checked staying at home sending out cvs, does not come with an insurance cover either.
Now i believe in the process of being out there in a process whatever it, no matter how crazy it sounds probably being the step you should take to open your mind to several other opportunities out there.
If after 400k kilometers the truck is yours, whats the difference between that and doing hire purchase from Stallion motors considering this one youre not even responsible for maintenance?
Call me stupid o, but im willing to bet somewhere down the line one person in this group with you will come and write autobiography of how he started an empire with this so called bad market of a job.
Just watch.
Too bad the only thing schools teach us is to have uncalled ego and absolute entrepreneurial inability.
Abeg no vex for me o.
PS my first job? i was earning 10k a month flogging the streets of lagos, lekki area to be precise and maybe you havent noticed the sun is hotter there than other parts of lagos probably the reflection from the sand. i dont know. i tell you no other job has given me more experience to value ratio like that one did.
If you havent noticed even oil companies are downsizing now cos of the market.
Please tell Mr Carlos waka for this chance and he should please cc. Dangote with it while hes at it. There is an inherent risk in every business. If handled properly, the life span of those vehicle is about 10yrs. Dangote has an agreement with manufacturer- Aumann with drive and power-train technologies from Daimler Benz. If u get a bank to finance u on the that same truck, u must have collateralized security with an intrest rate of about 25-30% or if u want to start an entirely different line of biz, u must meet those conditions before banks can lend u. So the truck u inherit can serve as ur collateral while ur sweat equity is ur intrest rate. People do hire purchase in Naija without insurance coverage and stipend from the owner. |

amnesty7: Violence committed by whoever should be condemned. The op is not only a lier but a hate monger. In Kafanchan in 1987 was it not the burukutu drinking so-called natives that killed the Hausas because of envy? Same in February and May (not August) 1992 in Zangon Kataf. As recent as 2011 too the whole Muslims of Zonkwa were either massacred or expelled. The problem with Chongai (as the southen kaduna people are called) is that they are too lazy and envious. In the whole of Kaduna Central Market for example, NONE of them has a single shop. The businesses are owned and done by Hausas, Igbos and Yorubas. Igbo and Yoruba peolpe who recide in Kaduna can testify to this. The fulanis were never known to be engaged in violence cos it is only their cows that they concerned with, but the drunkards started killing them and their cows, hence they started revenging. All in all, violence is an evil wind that blows nobody any good. So stop spreading half truths that will not help you. Warped logic! So if people are lazy as u claim, does that give you the right to destroy their lives and property? Since Igbos and Yorubas are hard working as u claim, how come southerners were all butchered and massacred in those attacks?? |

While that is on, the associates /agents of the asset owners can and will legally challenge the order which has very little chance of passing legal scrutiny if the agents can show that due and fair processes were not followed by the country making the order. Conclusion snail baba can engage all the slimy consultants he wants( a throw back to the PTF days ), even if they locate said assets/funds , they can not touch them not to talk of retrieving them. 2n2k: You are either being sentimental or not well informed or both.
Up to 2002, Nigeria local capacity for cement production was far below the national demand and as a matter of necessity must import. In order to encourage local production, the FG introduced 'import matching' policy for cement importers/manufacturers in 2002. The policy was that for verifiable capacity of your planned production facility in Nigeria, you were allowed to import matching quantities of bulk cement for rebagging in Nigeria.
Dangote, Larfage, ibeto and others participated. The policy envisaged gradual reduction of import as local production increased. In the course of implementation, it was alleged that ibeto did not have planned or actual facility in Nigeria to produce cement and should not benefit from the policy, the FG therefore banned Ibeto. Ibeto contested the ban in court and won but by that time, local production had caught up with national demand thus other cement manufacturers had either seized or substantially reduced importation of cement.
Since 2012, that was 10 years after Obj started the policy on local production of cement in 2002, the FG had not issued import licence for cement to any other company except Ibeto that is still enjoying the benefit of his judicial victory.
It is the success of the cement policy that GEJ wanted to replicate in automotive industry which copied the same import matching policy but is currently having false starts. U are mixing up public sentiments with facts. Ibeto is a small manufacturer compared to Dangote or Lafarge, but they were all grand fathered and Ibeto asked to restore the same grand father clause of " importing bulk cement" to them which was stopped by OBJ.. |
Travel › Re: CBN Restricts Use Of Naira Denominated Cards Abroad by adconline(m): 3:44am On Jul 08, 2015 |
2n2k: Regarding the embolden portion, that was same hogwash Ibeto spewed when fighting for the lift of the ban of importation of bagged cement by his company. He said FG was favoring Dangote and that he would crash the price of a bag of cement to below N1,000. Thank God, a court lifted the ban and gave him rights to solely import bagged cement I think till 2017. How much is he selling a bag of cement presently?
Have you asked yourself, if Dangote and Lafarge had not made Nigeria largely self sufficient in local production of cement, Nigeria would still have been importing all its cement needs with attendant pressure on foreign exchange demand. Think of the ease of pressure on forex demand if Nigeria does not need to import refined petroleum products or rice.
If Dangote succeeds in building his planned refinery now and we stop importation of fuel, some Nigerians with warped sense of reasoning will only see his region and religion rather than the economic benefits to the country. You are a junior student of Naija history. Dangote and Lafarge were given import waivers to import cement before they started manufacuring.. Some of those companies are still importing today!! |
