There is no precedent for this before and it's not going well. There was no technocrat on his team in his last visit to the U.S.. Obama's economics team had been assembled as of 2008 because the country was in recession. Economic gurus like Larry Sommers, Peter Orszag, Bloomers were all appointed as advisers.
