Thanks for your enlightenment.
masco131:

You don't need to bring rice or spaghetti, they are here and cheap.
I will advise you to bring foodstuffs that can't be gotten here or expensive like Maggi, Garri and the rest

Aussiejoan can you please highlights some of the food stuff that can be brought, perhaps the ones you took along when you're leaving Nigeria. I read that Australia has strict rules when it comes to what can be taken into the country.
Can foods like rice, beans, spaghetti, grounded pepper, palmoil, Maggi, salt and the likes be carried along without any issue.
Your effort in creating and contributing to this group is appreciated.
AussieJoan:
FEEDING & OTHERS

1. Bring all you can from Naija even if you'd pay for extra luggage.
2. For those in Victoria places like Sunshine, Noble Park sell African foodstuff. You can also get some from indian shops.

Clothing: Please bring from Naija, a very good clothe is expensive here (I mean work clothes), not talking about kmart same applies to other things you wear on your body.

Will update later. Make I reach Berwick to chop better jare. grin grin grin grin grin

Hi mate, just want to encourage you not to be downhearted or be confused which expectations can bring about considering that, after 3 months of lodging your application this is the least of your expectations from them. As 'stateboy' has said try getting a notarize letter or letter headed to attest to it from your school since it was organized by your school association. Please just try and think and act swiftly. Pray pray and pray. I feel what will be going through your head now. Is indeed not easy but anything what doing is what doing well to the very end. God is your bone marrow.

I got this responds from Immigration after 3months of my Application. The Certificate of Induction which was said to be not Genuine or seen as a fake document was issued during my 100 level Departmental Induction which is being organised by the Department student Association. The Certificate of Induction and the Immigration Mail is shown below.
Dear friends, I solicit for your kind Advice and directives as I am still yet to responds to the Immigration Mail.
God bless us all

I have to applaud the calmness of words used by 'masking' all along despite the hotness of this topic and the enthusiasm to defend the truth. The likes of joyandfaith choice of word is not really healthy. While will all like to stand by the truth, our manner of defending the truth goes a long way to say something about our belief. For the likes of 'ucham' and others who keep asking about 'fractions' 'masking'have answered you to a greater extent that it is base on 'conscience'. Perhaps you are not completely fine with that, that's why 'atolayeba' possibly direct you to the website. In summary, it is understandable that we cannot all sleep and face one direction, but with calmness and mutual respect we can accommodate other peoples' position on matters.

I read about the fire too, it's really devastating. Our heart is with all who are affected in anyway and I pray a solution comes soon. While that's an issue, I was thinking if it can affect the rate of visa grants in anyway.
Elliwizzy:
I was asking my Agent the rate of Visa grants for February intake, and she said it is quite high... But all the same the wait is not easy. Meanwhile I have been doing some reading about this Australia wide fire... Please let's check up on our friends and Students, the pictures of the fire are scary I pray for God protect upon them.
And for everyone waiting for their grants, I see us testifying this week and beyond, just stay postive, work in faith, pray and keep believing....... And don't forget to start packing your bags and arranging your foodstuffs.
See you at the Airport

Sorry i have been busy and forgot to reply your inquiries.

Our circumstances change in life. Its good a close relative stand as your sponsor but if your circumstances does not permit, its still okay to have an outsider come to your rescue. In this case your sponsor need to write a compassionate cum compelling reasons he/she wants to sponsor you i.e You are too bright in school and would like to help you achieve your goal in life since your parents are too poor etc. Or if he's your uncle, he has promised to help you study to any degree of your choice etc.

$50k not too bad. But again the flow of the money does matter. Remember if your uncle has family and the flow of the money isnt good that will be a red flag.

Congratulations. God is ever faithful.
DiiVictory:

After waiting almost 5 months now.

Got my first CoE 28th of march, 2019.
Visa Application = 14th may, 2019
Medicals = 14th may, 2019
Biometrics= 14th may, 2019.

Initial resumption date= 29th july, 2019
Got extension for 5th August, 2019.
Still visa didn't drop.

I was depressed when immigration requested for my original degree certificate on the 2ñd August when my final extended resumption was 5th august.

When I finally got my original degree certificate and uploaded, my CoE has expired and my agent wrote to federation university for a new CoE for Nov intake and on August 23rd they school sent me a rejection notice stating they reasons why they can't continue with the process and requesting me to withdraw the visa application from immigration and request a refund from them at my earliest convenience.

My family and I got into several prayers and we believed God through prayers that federation university will reconsider their decision and reissue me another CoE.

On the 9th of September, immigration sent a mail requesting for a new CoE from my school and my agent had to include the attachments to my school for them to also reconsider and the school eventually sent me a new CoE for November intake on 23rd September.

Finally visa grant came today. Praise God for me.

It seems like a dream to me.

Again, there is nothing God cannot do my people.
Just continue trusting God and you will realize how faithful He is.

I wish everyone waiting for their visa my kind of Grace. God will see y'all through.

Thank you so so much sir. I can't thank you enough. Will put all your advice into good use.
WestAfrican:

Weigh all the pros and cons with for example studying Public health in Melbourne and 1yr program + Social Works in Tassie.

See if other Unis can waive the 1yr program while offering you MSc in Social Works.

If you decide to stick with the options you have in hand, you prefer to relocate to regional area after study in search for state sponsorship or do the extra 1yr and be reassured to get your PR at the end of your study?

I guess school will provide you with ecoe to cover your entire study duration and immigration is usually aware of that. So it's shouldn't affect your visa processing time. It's just the extra $$$ you have to pay for that 1yr program.
Travel / Re: General Australian Student Visa Enquiries Part 3 by Addenn: 6:53am On Sep 15, 2019
Thank you very much sir for your sincere advice. I appreciate deeply your time and wealth of experience.
How about the condition of a year program to meet up with before the commencement of my program. Am I still good to go with visa processing work?
Thanks in anticipation to your response sir.
bligs:

Presently Public health is not on the skillselect list while social work is on the list and you stand a chance of state sponsorship if you study in Tasmania, the only advantage of studying in Monash is availability of more jobs opportunities to support yourself in Melbourne as compare to Hobart. Overall i will advise you to opt for Tasmania since PR is your aim in which you can relocate in the future, a lot of students are caught in a crossroad while some are even moving to regional areas after finishing school in the big cities.
Travel / Re: General Australian Student Visa Enquiries Part 3 by Addenn: 6:45am On Sep 15, 2019
Thank you very much WestAfrican sir. You have been there for me from day one. I will make necessary research as you suggest.
My major fear and concern with Tasmania offer is the condition of attending a one year program before commencing my master program. Will that not cause any hindrance for the visa processing?
Thanks as I anticipate your highly esteem response sir.

WestAfrican:

https://immi.homeaffairs.gov.au/visas/working-in-australia/skill-occupation-list
The link above will give you an insight on courses that are on the SOL.

See if Public Health or Biology Education correlate with any occupation on the list. I know Social Work is always constant on the SOL. There are other factors you need to put into consideration when choosing a school: Location, job, living expenese, PR points etc. You will easily score points for studying Social works in Tassie and probably get a state sponsorship but the question is how easy is it to find a job to offset your daily expenses?

Studying Public Health in Monash Vic sounds good in-terms of living in a big city, finding jobs, enjoying nightlife etc. but how about the living expenses and securing PR after your studies?

For easy visa processing and PR in mind, Tassie will be the way to go. You just have to do more research on jobs.

Transferring between Unis isn't easy these days but its an option to keep in mind.

You may also want to check this links on how to become a teacher in Australia as a foreigner:
https://m.wikihow.com/Become-a-Teacher-in-Australia

https://pathwaytoaus.com/blog/working-teacher-australia/

https://www.teach.nsw.edu.au/find-teaching-jobs/overseas-trained-teachers

This is something you can consider doing after arriving in Australia. Although you may have difficulty since you have no teaching experience under your belt. One way to counteract this would be picking up some voluntary jobs.

Do more research on this.

Greetings everyone, please I need your advice on this complicated issue of mine. I have an unconditional offer(full offer) from Monash university to study master of public health. On the other hand, I have a conditional offer that will require me to do a one year program and pass before being eligible to study master of social work in university of Tasmania. I just concluded my NYSC early this year and do not have any work experience in either field though still looking at getting a volunteer work experience on any. I have my first degree in biology education though with an outstanding cgpa.
Please, what will you advice me to do for easy visa processing and with PR in mind as I do not know if public health can give a good chance towards PR.
Help a brother please. Your contribution will be highly appreciated.

In my humble opinion, the problem seems to be with your overage average grade(cgpa). I applied to the same school and same course and was given admission months back. Talk with your agent. He/she should be able to guide you more. I used a different agent to yours though. You can still wait for the elders in the house to contribute their quota

Don't give the VO any impression of immigrant intent when answering questions. Make sure the program you're going for will be very applicable here in Nigeria upon return. Give excellent reasons why you want to study that course in the US, and plans after graduating.
