The interval from hiv infection to the diagnosis of aids takes about 9 months to 20 yrs. In my first input i narrowed down to just hiv but then some other pathologies can be factored in.

if I get you well you talking of the progression to Aids(which if its what she has, anti bodies for HIV wont show anymore). but I was talking of the time anti bodies can be detected. from all we have read an seen so far. 6 months is enough. so at this stage HIv should be completely ruled out. or do you think otherwise.

Thousands of people have just stoped by the road side for those free hiv testing without one single symptom and tested positive. They had no "manifestation" does not mean their strain or whatever is different. Lol

Baba nothing like that. I have googled it. doesn't it even sound lame self. the average window period is 3months and to prevent wahala juust check 6months for all strains and subtypes. prove me wrong. it wont take you 2minutes to show me your link.

It could be this. Or it could be herps/shingles or even staph. But I definitely know that its more a single virus/pathogen/condition and atleast one must have realy weaken her immune to warrant all these complication of symptoms.

Some HIV strains can take like 2 years before showing positive, its HIV and no doubt about it but ur immune system is so strong that it doesnt want to accept the virus but its already in it with time it will supress the system and become worse, I studied microbiology and I did virology in my year 3, some virus can hide for years in ur body at the Latent phase and they will b replicating (produce) like crazy.

imagine what someone that said she studied micro biology is saying. no strain can go undetected that long. show us a source that prove what you just said.

I notice the 6months window period is peculiar with Africa as most western countries adopts the 3months window period.

UBTH has ELISA in Chempath laboratory, that's what they use to screen blood donors. But routine HIV test is done in GPC using rapid test strip. You can go to blood bank that you want to donate blood, they will take your blood sample for screening and within some hours the result will be out. They won't give you the result but if you are okay, you will be told you are fit to donate then you can say you want to go buy food to eat first either you come back to donate to save a patient or if you don't want you can go home from there

its not I was surprised when you said they did that for you. most use rapid even Lagos state university teaching hospital use rapid.

the one you receive that day immediately is rapid test
the one that checks for both the antigen and antibody is the use of PCR DNA and the antigen only appears like 2 weeks after HIV enters the body by 8 weeks the antigen would have disappeared in which antibody will appear then

seems the Elisa test is rare. I recall I couldn't get a place to do it then.
