Scores of protesters took to the streets of Pittsburgh on Tuesday to denounce a visit by US President Donald Trump in the wake of a mass shooting at a synagogue that left 11 people dead.

Demonstrators gathered near the Tree of Life synagogue, where the shooting took place, holding signs that read “President Hate, Leave Our State!” and “Trump, Renounce White Nationalism Now.”

Trump arrived in the city with his wife Melania to pay his respects to the victims, but some say he has not done enough to squelch hate speech, and in fact fans extremism through his vitriolic tweets.

The Nigerian Army said three members of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria (IMN) or Shi’ite sect, died on Monday at the Kugbo/Karu bridge junction during an encounter with troops in the Federal Capital Territory of Abuja

A statement posted on the Nigerian Army facebook account: http://www.facebook.com/hqnigerianarmy on Tuesday, said four soldiers sustained injuries during the encounter.

However, some media reports on Tuesday put the death toll at 16. Some gave 50.

The army said the fatalities arose when the sect members attacked troops deployed at a checkpoint at the junction at about 3:p.m.



The sect in massive numbers forced their way into the troops checkpoint after overrunning the Police Force.

“The Police withdrew back to troops position to join efforts to repel them.

“They fired weapons, throwing bottle cannisters with fuel, large stones, catapults with dangerous objects and other dangerous items at troops, causing bodily harm and stopping motorist movement, breaking their windscreen and causing heavy traffic.

“However, troops repelled the attack in conjunction with the Nigerian Police Force to stop the situation from further deteriorating,” the statement said.

The statement, however, said normalcy had been restored in the general area and there was now free flow of traffic.

It called on members of the public living within Abuja and environs to go about their normal activities without fear of molestation.

“The Nigerian Army will not deter in carrying out its constitutional roles and also safeguarding law abiding citizens,” it said.

Leicester City owner, Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha is feared dead. This follows the crash of his helicopter outside the King Power Stadium last night. Although no confirmation has been made, a source has told the BBC that Srivaddhanaprabha was in the helicopter when it crashed.
Leicester’s mayor, Peter Soulsby has released a short statement on the incident.
A helicopter owned by Srivaddhanaprabha crashed in the carpark of the Foxes’ stadium after their 1-1 draw with West Ham.
The helicopter usually picks Srivaddhanaprabha and members of his family after every home game.
A fireball engulfed the helicopter in flames.
Police are investigating the incident but Srivaddhanaprabha is feared dead, according to BBC and other UK media.
As of this morning, the wreckage of the helicopter crash is still in the car park where it crashed.
Leicestershire Police tweeted, “The AAIB is leading an investigation after a helicopter crashed at the King Power Stadium.
“It came down in a car park near the stadium shortly after 8.30pm yesterday evening (Saturday 27 October).
“The force is liaising with Leicester City Football Club as enquiries continue.”

The Kaduna State government on Friday confirmed the killing of the kidnapped monarch of Atom Adara, Maiwada Galadima.

Senior Special Assistant to the governor on Media and Publicity, Mr Samuel Aruwan, who described the killing of the monarch in Kachia Local Government Area of the state as inhuman, disclosed this in a statement.

Galadima’s body was found close to a bush along the Kaduna-Abuja Highway in Kateri in the early hours of Friday, according to the statement.

While calling for calm in all the communities, he assured residents that those responsible for the killing would be arrested and punished.

Aruwan further said a 24-hour curfew has been reimposed on Kaduna metropolis and environs effective from 11am today.

The statement reads, “The Kaduna State Government has reinstated a 24-hour curfew on Kaduna metropolis and environs, Kasuwan Magani, Kajuru, Kateri and Kachia. The curfew is effective from 11am today, Friday, 26th October 2018 and will remain in force until further notice.

“This is a necessary step to help maintain peace as we mourn the death of HRH Agom Adara, who we lost in the early hours of today to the criminals who abducted him last week.

“The Kaduna State Government calls for calm in all our communities. The criminal elements who perpetrated this crime should not be allowed to divide us.

“This is a struggle between good, decent, law-abiding people trying to uphold the peace and criminals who want to divide and destroy. It is not a struggle between religious or ethnic groups. Let no criminal find succour in faith or tribe.

“Let us unite against every criminal activity. Let us stand together as human beings who have a right to live in peace.”

Maiwada Galadima, Chief of Adara Chiefdom in Kachia Local Government Area of Kaduna State, and his wife were kidnapped along Kaduna/Kachia Road on October 19.

President Muhammadu Buhari has said that he is disappointed in the Nigerian press.
He said his grouse was that the media did not give his administration the credit for the agricultural revolution he said was ongoing in the country.
Buhari spoke while hosting some young political appointees to a dinner at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, on Wednesday night.
“I’m very disappointed in the Nigerian press. They didn’t give this government the credit of the “Go back to the land” programme. We have cut down the importation of rice by at least 90 per cent,” the President said.
He noted that many Nigerians were abandoning white collar jobs daily and embracing farming because of his government’s reform programme in the sector.
Under his watch, Buhari also said Nigeria had achieved food security.
He justified his appointment of Chief Audu Ogbeh as the Minister of Agriculture, saying the appointment was based on his antecedents.
He said the nation could not have a better person than Ogbeh whom he said had invested so much in agriculture and had also suffered.
“Ogbeh went to a bank, borrowed money and invested in agriculture. He suffered but eventually, he paid the money
“So, you cannot have a better person than somebody who has suffered in the sector,” he said.
Buhari again blamed the Peoples Democratic Party for allegedly wasting the commonwealth of Nigerians during the 16 years the party was in power at the federal level.
He reiterated his position that there was nothing to show for the huge resources that accrued to the country during the period.
Like he did a few weeks back, Buhari queried the $16bn said to have been expended on the power sector during the administration of former President Olusegun Obasanjo.
Although he did not mention Obasanjo’s name, it was during his administration that the sum was said to have been spent on the power sector.
“There was no power and they said they spent $16bn on power. Where is it (power)?” the President asked.
The Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha, claimed that the PDP didn’t achieve one-tenth of theAPC achievements in its 16 years in power.
While saying that the present administration had achieved so much, Mustapha promised to make available a document which he said captured what the government had been able to achieve in less than four years.

Less than a week after the two major political parties – the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) – lost a member each in the House of Representatives to other political parties, two other members have dumped the two parties.
The two members are Hassan Omale representing Ankpa/Omala/Omalaboro federal constituency of Kogi State and Mohammed Soba of Soba constituency of Kaduna State.
While Mr. Omale, who recently dumped the APC for the PDP in August decamped to the Action Democratic Party (ADP), Mr. Soba only announced his resignation from the APC but said he will announce his new political party soon.
Two members had last week announced their defection to other political parties.
The members, Akinlaja Joseph who represents Ondo East/West federal constituency of Ondo State and Olatoye Temitope representing Lagelu / Akinyele Federal Constituency of Oyo State announced their defection on the floor of the House on Wednesday.
While Mr Akinlaja defected to the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP), his colleague Mr Temitope moved to the Action Democratic Party (ADP).
Shortly before the House commenced its annual recess in August, dozens of members, mostly from the ruling APC defected to other parties.

It is believed the baby must have been wrapped in clothes and thrown into the gutter last night.

The Israeli government has said there is no evidence to prove that the leader of the proscribed secessionist group, IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu, was or is in their country.

Recall that last Friday October 19th, Kanu resurfaced in a live video on Facebook with claims he is in Isreal. Kanu went missing in September last year after the military invasion.

Reacting to the viral video, the spokesman of the Israeli Foreign Ministry, Emmanuel Nashon, told newsmen in Abuja that there was no evidence that the leader of IPoB was in their country of recent. According to Nashon, the video of Kanu could be an old one.

Nine persons have been confirmed dead in a fatal accident involving a Mercedes-Benz Marcopolo bus and an Iveco truck at Aseese area of the Lagos/Ibadan Expressway in the early hours of Tuesday, October 23rd.
Accoridng to the FRSC Ogun State Sector Commander, Clement Oladele, 42 persons were involved in the accident which was caused by the bus after it lost control while on top speed. It collided with the parked truck with registration number AAA XP.
Oladele confirmed that seven male and two female adults died in the accident and that their remains have been moved to the Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital mortuary in Ogun state.

Basketball star, LeBron James' home debut game for Los Angeles Lakers was marred by fights as they played against Houston Rockets at the Staples Center on Saturday night.
The fight erupted in the fourth quarter of the game the game at Staples Center as Chris Paul, Brandon Ingram and Rajon Rondo were all ejected in a feisty contest that saw the Lakers fall 124-115 to the Houston Rockets.
The brawl started after Ingram shoved James Harden, with Paul and Rondo getting into a heated discussion. Paul was later seen pointing his finger into Rondo’s face which boiled over into punches being thrown between Paul of Rockets and LA Lakers' Rondo. Ingram, who had already received a technical foul, decided to run into the fight and deliver a punch at Paul.
Ingram, Paul and Rondo were all ejected from the game after officials reviewed the incident. The three will likely face suspensions and fines from the league.

Barely two days after becoming the first industrialised nation to legalise marijuana, Canadian stores are already running low on stock.

According to the Daily Mail, Canadians seeking out legal recreational marijuana on Thursday not only had to contend with long lines, but also supply shortages in the wake of the historic change. One man called Alexandre was apparently turned away from a store when it closed at 9pm, having been waiting in line for a painful seven hours.

"It was hell, it was cold. But we had fun anyway, talking with people in the crowd and sharing joints" Alexandre said. Supply shortages were also reported in the provinces of Newfoundland and Saskatchewan, and also in the Arctic territory of Nunavut.

Bill Blair, a former Toronto police chief who has led the government’s legalisation programme, told public broadcaster CBC the country was unable to supply enough to meet demand.

“We expected, you know, certain strains might run out and there would be a bit of a run on supply. But, you know, they’ve got a pretty good infrastructure in place and I’m confident it will work” he said.

Under the new law, citizens will be allowed to carry up to 30 grams of cannabis in public and each household will be able to grow up to four marijuana plants.
