Would you rather have them in prison where their will become worse or criminals. It's best this way, the church will rehabilitate and integrate them back to the society.

I would rather have them spend some times in prison then transferred to a correctional facilities then rehab before integrating them into the society.

Let's leave religion n churches out of this.

Politics / Buhari Reacts To Saraki’s Supreme Court Victory, Says Nation’s Judiciary Working by ademoladeji(m): 8:59pm On Jul 07, 2018
President Muhammadu Buhari says the country’s judicial system, no matter the challenges it faces, is truly working and no one should be allowed to undermine or break it.

The President’ Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Malam Garba Shehu, in a statement in Abuja on Saturday, said Buhari made the statement while reacting to Friday’s Supreme Court verdict on Senate President Bukola Saraki.

The Supreme Court had, on Friday, set free the Senate President, Bukola Saraki, of charges in the case of false assets declaration at the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT).

President Buhari said: “I have seen many instances where individuals and groups seek the destruction of the judicial institution in the foolish thinking of saving their skin, instead of going through the painstaking process of establishing their innocence.

“In the case of the Senate President, Bukola Saraki, I have seen him take the tortuous path of using the judicial process.

“He persevered, and in the end, the highest court of the land, the Supreme Court, says he is not guilty as charged.

“This is what I have done in the three elections in which I was cheated out, before God made it possible for me to come here the fourth time I ran for the office.”

The president said the Senate President’s journey from the lowest to the highest court of the land provided an important example for Nigerians to emulate.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) recalls that the Supreme Court had upheld the Code of Conduct Tribunal’s ruling, clearing Saraki of all 18 count charges bothering on assets declaration.

Politics / Re: Kemi Adeosun NYSC Certificate Scandal: Bigger Picture Of NYSC & Nigerians Abroad by ademoladeji(m): 8:54pm On Jul 07, 2018
AmbodOfLASU:

The article as seen above totally condemned the alleged forgery by Mrs Kemi Adeosun. The article also posited that the Minister must face the law. Nevertheless, the article opined that young bright minds of Nigerian ancestry who were unfortunately born and brought up abroad but are desirous of working for a better Nigeria should not be alienated from contributing to our national development due to their lack of participation in NYSC.

We should seek to integrate our administrative and technological wiz kids the same way we brought Alex Iwobi, Leon Balogun, Carl Ikeme and co to our fold.

Nigeria needs its best brains to return to the country now. We've suffered a lot from brain drain.

BTW, I still believe it's part of media and political championships. We saw n read the case of DINO and ABU zaria... Now, Kemi n NYSC. can we even have a sight on the supposedly forge certificate?

This is preventable.
Before we blame let's critically examine this story.

1. They were out at Midnight, possibly returning from party or club, to celebrate in anticipation of POP.
2. If they stayed in doors and faced the service they were sent to do, may be it may not have happened
3. The policemen, officers empowered by Law stopped you, but you refused to obey the officers of the law. Are you guys criminals? Why didn't you stop?
4. Would this have happened in America? Yes it could have happened. Even unarmed blacks are shot by policeman, talk less of people who were stopped and refused to accede.
5. Was the officer that shit overzealous? Yes he was. But judging by the volatility of northern Nigeria today, they could have been mistook as criminals running from officers.

My conclusion.

If they stayed indoors and faced what they're sent to do, this could have been avoided
If they had stopped, this could also have been avoided.

The officer may go Scot free, on the basis of security situation in the country.

We need to be careful ourselves

Besides, some policemen were killed by some unknown gunmen few days ago.

Why not wait for stop n search instead of whisking away.

So unfortunate

[Quote] He listed the sections to include the Enugu – Onitsha expressway, Enugu – Lokpanta, Lokpanta – Abia Tower and Abia Tower – Aba section of the Enugu – Port Harcourt expressway.

At the 9th Mile – Enugu section of the Enugu – Onitsha Expressway, Sogbesan expressed satisfaction on the job done so far by the contractors, Reynolds Construction Company Ltd. (RCC).

He said the project which covered a distance of 58km was from Amansea in Anambra to Enugu.

“Forty kilometres of the road is in Anambra while 18km is in Enugu section of the road. The contractors have achieved about 35 per cent completion of the project,” he said.

He said that with the quality of job being done by the contractors, the road would make its expected lifespan of between 20 years and 30 years.

Sogbesan, however, expressed concern on the heavy traffic flow on the road.

“I pray we get more funding so as to deliver this project at the right time. This project will improve transportation infrastructure.

“The micro-economy impact of this road will go a long way to help Nigerians,” he said.

Also, the Federal Controller of Works, Enugu, Mr Oluropo Oyetade, said that monitoring of the project had been encouraging since the contractors reported to site.

Oyetade said that the contract with a completion period of 36 months was awarded in 2014 but was not funded till 2017.

He said that the job was expected to be delivered by December 2019.

The Acting Project Manager, Mr Italy Zohar said that the project started in 2017 after their mobilisation.

Zohar said that the contractors had complied with the relevant provisions on local contents as it affected the project.

He said that a total of 650 Nigerian workers were engaged on the site with five local engenders and five expatriates.

He said that no fewer than 6772 tons of bitumen, 12 tons of cement, 230 tons of rods and 775,000 cubic metres of gravels had been utilised on the project.

Also, the Chairman of Enugu branch of the Nigeria Society of Engineers (NSE), Mr Ifeanyi Ofili, commended President Muhammad Buhari on his insistence on the utilisation of local content.

Ofili said that such directive was an encouragement to Nigerian engineers and materials.

“From what we have seen on site, the contractors have complied with local content. So far, the quality of the road is good and we believe it is up to standard,” he said.

He appealed to the Federal Government to fund the project to ensure early completion.

I would just drop it as simple as possible. When Buhari was seeking election in 2015,he visited the east, even received a title. After his victory, they were tagged 5%. He never visited them so we then till date. Now a mega rally for him, he didn't even attend. SMH. You won't tell me a mega rally for his reelection in Kano or sokoto and he won't cancel any engagement to attend.
Well, some said he's destined to win. I heard same in 2015 about GEJ. personally, I don't care anymore, make I buy bigger and more rugged jeep as the road gets worse, get a bigger generator as phcn gets worse, buy my own gun as police becomes unreliable. Thats my own prayer and my hustle.

Let me come in bro...

APC never organised that rally but Rochas. During the dinner event on Monday night, he said the rally was going to be an awareness because the president would be coming around by August or so.

Besides, logically, he wouldn't have attended it anyway because of the vist of the French President.

Politics / Fake News And Nigeria's Herder Crisis by ademoladeji(m): 8:28pm On Jul 01, 2018
Fake pictures circulating on social media which users are falsely claiming depict inter-communal violence are inflaming already high tensions in Nigeria.

It comes after three days of violence left more than 200 people dead in the centre of the country.

A gruesome image of a woman face down in a pool of blood with a gaping shoulder wound is purported to be from the recent attacks. It has hundreds of retweets on Twitter, but it first appeared on the internet in 2011 in a story about domestic violence in Nigeria.

Another image appears to show half a dozen people that were killed in the attacks. On closer inspection it becomes clear that the picture was not taken in Nigeria, and is actually the scene of a 2015 traffic accident in the Dominican Republic.

They are both too graphic for us to display and were accompanied by highly inflammatory comments.

And it's not just pictures.

Earlier this week, major Nigerian news outlets ran a story claiming that Danladi Circoma, a leader of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association, said the attacks in Plateau were revenge for the loss of 300 cows.

"Since these cows were not found, no-one should expect peace in the areas," Mr Circoma is reported to have said.

His comments drew widespread anger and swift condemnation, but he has denied ever making the statement.

Misinformation and fake news in Nigeria is nothing new.

In some cases, the lack of official information has created a vacuum which has been filled by rumours. This only serves to escalate tensions further.

The explosion of social media - Nigeria has 26 million active Facebook users - and the rapid growth of smartphones means rumour spread quickly and easily on social media.

In January, the presidency denounced a fake Twitter account which appeared to justify herdsmen attacks in Benue state to the anger of the public.

A month later, a letter alerting the public to an apparent attack by herders on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, a major route in the country's south-west, went viral before the police issued a statement to deny it.

As criticism of the government's handling of the crisis grows , there are fears that fake news could result in further violence.

Last year, Information Minister Lai Mohammed spoke repeatedly about the danger of fake news, warning that it could "threaten and destroy" the country.

How to spot fake news

It is likely that more fake news stories will surface about the crisis, particularly in the run-up to next year's presidential election. Social media companies like Facebook and Twitter have revealed plans to fight the global problem of fake news, but here are five ways you can stop the spread of misinformation:

Check the source: Fake social media accounts often try to appear as if they are from legitimate news sites, so check that every account you share information from is genuine. Verified accounts on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram have a blue tick.

Look at multiple sources: Although this isn't foolproof, it's nonetheless worth checking multiple reputable new sources when trying to verify if what you're seeing is real. Ask yourself: Are trusted news outlets also reporting this information?

Verification tools: There are dozens of tools online that can help determine the authenticity of a picture or a video. Google, Bing and Tin Eye all offer a reverse image search, which can tell you where images have been used before. Video verification is more tricky, but tools like InVid allow you to select video from Facebook and YouTube to see if or where these videos have been used before.

Check metadata: If you have an original video or picture, you can check the metadata which will give you a wealth of information, including where and when the image or video was taken plus the device make and model. Unfortunately, when images and videos are uploaded to social media platforms their metadata is stripped out.

Think before you post: It sounds obvious, but be careful not to add to the problem of fake news. Before you post, ask yourself if you're sure the information you're about to post is real.
