My brother or sister truth be told, it's not worth it at all. Please stay in Nigeria.

It's only worth it for those that don't have doubts. If you know you're having doubts don't bother at all. The stress here is too much, life is hard etc. Even the air we're breathing is taxed. Please just stay in naija and be managing the small small stress there, it's nothing compared to canada stress.

Hey Bro/Sis,

Don't take chances.....For SINP , your education must match with your JD....It is in rare cases, they give nomination to people whose job doesnt match and i noticed that was before their OID was revised....

bankylan:

This is not true. Your job responsibilities only have to align with OID- Occupation in demand. Then if you work in a regulated profession, then your degree must align with the job.

I don't think it's absolutely useless though. A landed senior once told me one could actually use ICAN to claim CPA exemption in order to write only the final stage. He even mention one particular grant one could take sef. I'm not sure how easy that is though

PS: I'm in the ICAN boat too smiley

I understand there is no agreement btw CPA and ICAN.. I wrote to the CPA body of my intended province and I was told with ICAN, one can get an advanced standing in the CPA exemption....You will have to do a transcript assessment ( request WES to send a course by course report of your evaluation) and also have ICAN send your transcript and a letter of.good standing , your resume is also required to ascertain your years of experience. Once the assessment is done, you will be granted exemption in the CPA PEP program.. By the advanced standing I mentioned earlier - it's just capstone 1 and 2 which looks to me like a presentation and then the common final exam CFE....

I have began my transcript assessment and will inform the house of the outcome...

@ Safex - Can you give more details about the grants one can get to write a professional exam?

P.S - I couldnt go via the CIMA route as CPA SAS made me understand that getting an advanced standing in CIMA will not qualify me for a CPA certificate...

Going through the ACCA route will mean writing 4 papers and then completing the Tax and Law assessment(2 papers) to get the CPA certification and that will also mean paying plenty annual membership fees...

Let him or her continue posting all the cons about Canada....

It depends on how each person sees the cup - whether half-full or half- empty....

Good Evening,

For those that have been nominated by Ontario ( Human Capital Priorities stream).. Do you know if Ontario select candidate from the E. E pool based on their primary Noc code... I have been in the pool for almost a year now with a score of 426 and never gotten a nomination from any of the province. My job experience spans across Noc 1111- Financial Accountant & Auditors , Noc 2171- Information and Systems and Noc 0111- Finance Managers... But my pry Noc is in my current role Noc 0111- Finance manager..

Nova Scotia nominated people with Noc 1111- Financial accountant recently and Ontario has been nominating people above 400 in the past 1 year too but I never got any...

Could this be because my primary Noc code is not in their occupation in demand list..?

I have about 5years experience in 2171 which is in demand in Ontario.. Will there be chances for me if I change this to my primary Noc code...

Your advise is needed pls..

PS- I am the PA - age 38, msc and IELTS of 8777 ( LRWS) hence the score of 426..( spouse ECA and test included)

Plz my family, as anyone from OOU used WES for ECA. What is d response time to verification mail like. Faster or slow? Did u pay additional fees for mail verification. All responses are appreciated.
One love

Hello,

My hubby got his transcript sent to WES from OOU after paying 50k in April this year..He also paid 16k to a lady who helped him send to WES via DHL as the 50k wasnt inclusive of courier. The verification from OOU was swift and no extra payment was made. On receipt of the email from WES that the school needs to verify his certificate , I sent my cousin who happens to be in school at that time to exams and records and notify them. She said the moment she got there she was asked to wait so they could check and then they responded immediately.

God bless you Blackbuddy. I admire your humility alot..

Come to think of it..I was just going to comment that oluwapelumi should PM you and then I saw this.

God bless you once again and everyone providing useful tips on this forum.

Blackbuddy:

Hi, I moved to the GTA in June 2015 and settled in Mississauga. I came with my whole family and my wife and I (bankers) started the job hunt also attending the excellent newcomers training with Acess Employment. After 3 months, my wife got several job offers in her field and accepted an offer from a multinational conglomerate which was bought over by America's largest bank and she's doing very well there, even training other new employees now. I got my own break after 6 months as I was focused on finding a job equal or higher than my last position in Nigeria. I got several job offers as well from top banks and finally decided to accept an offer from a top 5 bank in a senior position. A lot of people here who follow Canadavisa forum know my story and I'm a good example of favour and determination.

Don't let anyone tell you that settling in Ontario, Toronto or any big city for that matter was a mistake. There are Nigerians who came before us doing very well and many more will come behind and do just as well. Remember, the battle is fought, won or lost in the mind first of all and then the physical manifestation follows. Sure there may be those who are satisfied with playing in smaller ponds but there are also others who take the plunge and swim in big waters. Abraham left a small, humble beginning for great adversity to claim a big destiny, not the other way round. Same for when Joshua led the chosen into the midst of giants and they prevailed. It's never about the size of the dog going to fight but the size of the fight in the dog. If you decide to go to a smaller city and start over, it's good and fine as it's your journey in life. If you decide to stake your claim here and get your prize as God is doing it for those of us here, that's also fine. You can send me a private message to share some further support and maybe connect you with other successful Nigerians/Canadians on ground here so you learn and gain from them. It wont cost me anything to lift you up, it only glorifies God.

I collected mine sometimes ago and I can confirm there was nothing of such. I can link you to someone at the transcript office who can help you especially with very speedy processing.

Hello,
I will appreciate if you can help me with someone's details in UNILAG for the speedy processing. You can send via PM as I don't know how to do it.

I applied for my hubby M.sc transcript in Unilag since on the 4th of April and I was patiently waiting that WES would receive it after 6weeks. Coincidentally, In Mid May WES status changed to Document received- Review in progress ( this was after certificates and B.sc transcript have been sent). So I had thought Unilag had sent theirs too. Just last week I saw status changed back to Awaiting required documents , I was surprised and then wrote to WES to verify what went wrong.I later got their reply stating Unilag transcript as not yet received. Hubby went back to Unilag and made enquiry and to our shock they did not process the transcript atall. No one could give reason why it was left out. They apologised and said they will process. Al along I tried following up by calling the numbers on the application site but no one picks. It was bad of hubby and I not to have gone back to the school and check though.
Pls ensure you follow up with your transcript application.

Hi guys,
Anyone requesting his/her transcript from Ambrose Alli, Ekpoma to IQAS?, mine is taking forever.!. They claimed they have sent it but no acknowledgement from IQAS to that effect.

I hail AAU...mine took like 10weeks even with the intense follow up...When they told me they had sent to WES , I requested for the tracking numbers because I paid additional fee for DHL instead of their regular post they will use which might take another 2-3 weeks...

There are challenges but the business surges on. Some of us are increasing the number of cars we have on Uber weekly and we are 'business minded' too. Perhaps all we need is better alignment between partners and drivers and a twist of the operational model. I do not see the 20% commission model working any longer. Drivers seem to want to have better freedom and more control, hence, the rental option. Also, ensure you have a solid, enforceable contract with your drivers and build a mutually beneficial playing field.

And PLEASE, avoid greed. Uber is not a 'quick money' scheme. Your RoI on the car may be between 30% to 50% per annum if well managed. Hire purchase and rental are much better options provided you get good drivers. The quality of your drivers and your management determines the results. You are better off building scale than depending on only one or two cars if you see it as business and not a means of employment for you. If your net income (after depreciation, maintenance, servicing, fuelling, toll, etc) is N10,000 to N20,000 per car, you are doing VERY well and scale will give you the return you are looking for.

Hi TokyoBulls,

I sent you an email, kindly revert!

How long did u stay in the hospital that NICS was 514 , and did u wait 2-3 days post delivery before paying?
then how many days post delivery did u pay brown and associate? .

Ur tests was 580 is it that he refused ur tests?

I stayed 2 days at the Hospital.... And I got their invoice in my email 3 days after discharge so I paid them asap.

For brown and associates I had to call them severally o before they sent their invoice 2 weeks after...their excuse was that the hospital did not send my details to them on time...eventually when they did my discounted bill was that $79.

For the test at the docs office...I only went with few test result which he did not accept so he gave me a discount on the test too.
