congrats to obiwann, Hollaytan and everyone else that got their pass. More blessings. Hope to join next winter 2016 | Team Oldenburg. Hollaytan hope u have ur bicycles ready. Lol. Pls anyone with DAAD experience?
I applied for it too last year, though i didn't get the scholarship due to high competition but I eventually got considered for the admission which also was equally competitive and took GRACE of God (Imagine having a phone call interview for about 1hr via viber/Skype to secure admission).

What I noticed is that some of the courses on DAAD scholarship have very limited spaces. It's a 50-50 thing but i believe if God says it's yours no Jupiter is gonna stop you. So lunch your net into the deep, pray and have faith.

I hope this helps.

Hv done my interview on d 24th of July. I already requested for extension from my school. Deadline is 1st of sept, yet to hear bk frm school
Mein bruder, you need to make haste with whatever you need do. Don't wait for the school to reply, try to call their international office to find out the status of you deferral request. Then if possible u can tell the person that made d deposit into db acct to follow up.

Sent you a PM

Cool. Means dem don get fx b dat. How much did you transfer? How much were u charged in total to trasfer the sum? Did they insist on signed admission letter? How long did they take to debit u? How long did it take DB to send confirmation (if it has arrived)? Please list d docs u used. Thanks
Easy bro, too many questions at a time shocked smiley
#179472 was transferred for 800€ being deposit for Jan/Feb accommodation (balance would be returned to me when i get there). like i said earlier 4k was charged for telex, #897.36 was charged for VAT & 44.87naira for COT or so.
The transaction was initiated on Tuesday but got delayed as i got an email from d bank on Wed. requesting i submit budgets from school due to CBN directive. I gave them d link to their website to extract d info only to get a response on Thursday morning that i should scan i send. I did it immediately and in the evening i got my account debited as well as d telex.

It's not DB pls but the school account. I hope this is explicitly done.

Cheers

@Obiwannn, you're absolutely correct as the transaction I did yesterday was at the rate of 224.34 at stanbic bank. Though it was smooth i they sent the telex to me immediately, i think they are a bit fair. Telex charge was 4000 plus other small charges like COT etc

i want to thank everybody on this thread on their useful contributions so far. i received letters of admission from fh kaiserslautern and hs rhinewaal to study msc mechanical engineering on the 4th and today respectively.also was issued a leave for some weeks today in my place of work. i will like to know the current amount to be paid at the embassy for the db account opening, secondly i want somebody to give me a detailed description on how to get to the german embassy from iyana paja as i will be staying with a friend there. my enrolment deadline for the both schools is 21oct and 15nov respectively. once again i thank you all, hope to get ur response asap
Hi, you can only apply for the account opening Mon-Wed between 8-11am. However, you should be therefore 8am if you dont want to see the red eye of my friend a.k.a. consula 1.

From iyana, blow LAGBUS to Oshodi b/stop. Cross over to board another going to Lekki/Ajah and stop at check point and cross the road to the embassy gate. Or alight at Bonny camp and trek back to the gate.

Ensure you leave home as early as possible.

Guys I seriously need some advice.

A friend of mine in paderborn told me how problematic paderborn ausländerborhorde is but don't believe I would have some problem.

I got some more questions from Nigeria embassy from the aliens office.

I need to know the motives and some tips on what to say. Though some questions here is personal and I know what to say. But seriously need your input.

I think I answered all this question during interview. But this one's coming straight from aliens office. Some question I think is unnecessary

with regards to your visa application, please be informed that the Aliens Authority of your future place of residence would like you to answer some additional questions:

1. During the interview, you stated that you are going to finance the stay in Germany on your own. Please specify how you will come up for the requested financial means.

2. Why would you like to deepen your German language first and then study in English language?

3. What advantages are you going to take for your personal future by studying in Germany?

Regards
I will advice you repeat what you said during the interview with respect to these question, but now in a more detail or explicit way. Like you have it in question 1. 'SPECIFIC' you will need to probably highlight how you intend to go about the funding e.g. deposit d reqd amount for a year, if you're working let them know you've got savings to do that. If not let them know your family will transfer subsequent needs to you after your first.

For the second question, let them know it's necessary for quick integration into the system. No crime in that.

Last one, i think the question still borders on why you wanna do d program, so elaborate it this time around. Dig deeper into what you intend to gain from d program as well as how you it will help your country (if you mentioned coming back in interview). Google current trend in your area of study to back it up.

I think you shouldn't have a 'P' with that.

Meanwhile it's good to be back here. 'Oracle Eke' and others well done.

Alles gute, preparing for my interview!

<Taiwo>

Thanks everyone for keeping this thread alive. I must confess, I've had a swell time reading through all the infos, suggestions, and opinions of everyone. Good job guys.

I am looking forward to starting my Phd in Germany this year - specifically at the University Of Hamburg. Luckily, I got a Professor, who agreed to supervise my research. I later (around October last year) put in for a scholarship/research grant through DAAD. Few hours ago, I got a mail that my application has been turned down. So sad!

Not to feel bad, I have made up my mind to go ahead with the application self-sponsored (I can't afford to miss this opportunity of getting someone to supervise me, its priceless). Because, from my findings, tuition is free, I only have to pay semester contribution of about 300Euro then other living expenses which I think I can pull through considering the fact that I'm gainfully employed here in Nigeria and I'm due for a study leave with pay (meaning my salary would continue while I'm studying). There's also a huge possibility of getting a job (as research assistant or something related) over there while the programme is on. I also intend to apply for several funding opportunities during the course of the programme.

I intend to submit my application online over this weekend.

My questions are:

1. The cash I'm going to deposit into the blocked account, can it be withdrawn in full later? (Assuming I borrowed the cash into the account and I need to return asap).

2. Do you think its advisable I use my establishment as my sponsor? (Since I don't have anyone over there in Germany that can stand as a sponsor); I mean for the visa application.

3. Do german school/embassy accepts employee as sponsor?

4. Lastly, my babe is also planning to apply for her Masters. She has HND but currently running an online Top-up programme through a UK Uni (meaning to convert her HND to Bsc.) Does German school accepts either HND or the online stuff?

Thanks people. Sorry for the long essay. I say make I pour everything out once and for all.
For Q1, you will only be able to withdraw certain amount of money per month from ur block account, i think about 600euros. So you'll need to structure ur repayment plan for the borrowed money as well as ur living expenses.

For Q2 & Q3, once the sponsor is not a German resident with required amount of monthly income, no other person can stand as ur sponsor. However, if u've got the money (borrowed, gift or personal) just open a blocked account and drop it there... you're good to go and nobody will ask u how u got d money.

For Q4..... others with genuine info to help out.

Alles gute!

Hello house, I have been asked by the German Embassy to come along with my passport and 3 months Travel Health Insurance. Want to use this opportunity to thank you all for your support most especially to Kelly4top or Kelly and some other people right from the old thread just before this new one who has been very supportive by giving useful pieces of advise right from when I was initially refused the visa and had my passport seized and sent to the fraud department of the Nigerian Immigration Service. Where grace abound, every other thing will definitely fall in place. Thanks to God Almighty who made this a reality as without Him we can do nothing. Its always good to know what we want and be very stubborn about our goals in life. I thank you all once more and I will continue to contribute to this thread to assist others coming from behind.

For the veterans in the house, how can I get a genuine but very affordable 3 months travel health insurance? Money no dey down so I need a pocket-friendly one. Thanks in anticipation.
Congrats the Law.... I think you can check with Mutual, it's kinda cheap and less stressful as reported.

Try go for post grad like Machine Learning(really needed in states now, av little programming experience) coz in states with ur background in stats(hope u know how to use Octave, R, Matlab), im sure ur life will change oo..and I can bet my $100 on it..but if its cash constraint still do GMAT/GRE, apply whenever u r in Germany or start from now from Naija..apply to U.S skls..ul get funding sis, and ur kids will assimilate easily..

U av banking experience also;that surely fits well with stats..Permanent Residence(PR) in beautiful English speaking countries should not be ruled out also..Sister do ur homework and u will smile looking back at this.

Always have at least a day in a week to browse the web, gather info, form ur own opinion, check forums, ask(but dont take all suggestion coz person wey dey advice sometimes their IQ level is not even average oo..lol)

Hope you look into this

Eke40seven: There are different visa requirements for different countries and some times, those general information do not apply here in Nigeria. I will advise you forget all those, instead, Google German embassy in Nigeria for details. That's is the more reason why you should stick to this thread and study it like you are preparing for your final year exam.
Since you are new and would need a little 'spoon feeding', I will advise you stick to 'DAAD International students' and this thread. Read from 320 or even before and follow up what's trending now or you may find this whole thing confusing and may cone back here asking irrelevant questions.
Good luck!
