To God be all glory, honor & adoration this morning the a.m. mail dropped to come pickup visa. I had my interview since 1st September, 2015 but funded my account in December since resumption is January 6th and partly due to delay in getting my blocked account details. When I called the Alien office in December about my visa I was told that the embassy had sent my documents but recommended rejection because they presumed that my resumption was October! (i couldn't Imagine where they got that from)!!

To cut the short story long cheesy the embassy became blank to every emails sent to clarify the date issues both by my school & myself, school resumed Tuesday and it's quite overwhelming still being around even though last date of resumption was sent to them!

Many thanks to great friends & all contributors here like williamso, eke40seven, rayhut, obiwann, olaochi e.t.c. (pardon me if your name isn't mention & yes I can't forget dolpaz, the guy that first attacked me 2yrs ago when I just got on this forum grin)

To all still waiting or preparing for interview, just trust in God's grace & He will see you through!

Vielen danke und alles gute cool

Thanks Eke40seven, Hampy & williamso. Eke, like i said earlier I've already contacted the aliens office in my city both by phone and email. The person in charge told me exactly two weeks ago that she's already sent an approval to the embassy and other things is left in their hands. She sent the approval after my department forwarded my account confirmation to her. My dept has been in talk also with Lagos embassy via phone calls & emails too, yet i can't understand reason for their silence. Last week they reqquested I clarify that my enrollment date wasn't in October which I did. My department also sent a response to that effect in German which reads (after using Google translation)

Dear Ladys and Gentlemen,
Referring to the below e-mail I would like to confirm that the international Master of Engineering begins course for energy and environmental management for developing countries on 01/06/2016 at the European University in Flensburg / Germany with a compulsory course and Mr. ABCD is enrolled for this . From our perspective, we would therefore appreciate it if you could provide him with his visa in a timely manner , because the arrival of new students will take place on 4 and 5 January 2016th
Many Thanks!

Right now i'm aware they're closed till 4th, please what's your take on this as I've not booked ticket or even done travel insurance. Should i go ahead with that or chill till next week? What other precautions would you rather suggest?

I await your response guys. Vielen danke

.ok oo!

Have you called the alien office in charge of your documents in Germany? That should be your first task. Bombard them with calls and mails, because the embassy's hand will be tied if the alien office fails to respond in time.
The other area where you will now gear your actions towards will be on the side of your school. The best they can do for you now is to give you a letter of extension.

Once that is done, send it to the embassy. Forward the mail or attach the letter to be sent to them as a reply to the mail they sent to you requesting you to fund your account or just quote your reference number as the subject of the mail and inform the embassy of your extension so that they can have that update with them.

If that is done, then you are in safe hands, please, don't wait till january 6th biko, get the extension letter now!

The problem now though is that schools might be on break till 6th or 7th.....but just get to work!

@Hampy & Williamso, vielen danke für you prompt response. Like I said earlier on, my department is fully aware & has been sending several emails to the embassy clarifying enrollment issue & requesting for quick issuance of the visa. They've also called the embassy as well, i have been in copy of their corresponce. The woman in charge at the Alien office personally sent me an email to confirm to me she's sent approval to the embassy, that's since 2weeks ago. She was able to do that after my department & I put several calls to her & also sent account confirmation to her.

As mentioned by williamso, i will call embassy tomorrow again to request status but the challenge is that anytime i call i'm always asked to send email which they've not been replying!! I will appreciate if anyone can provide the visa extension so that o can dial it when i call the general line.

As for the extension, at what stage will i need to present it and to who? When should it be presented in case the embassy delayed?

NB: I'm going in for summer 2016 program but programs start in January with language courses & foundation classes which will run from January to March ending before the main.

Danke.

Hallo alles, compliment of the season to everyone. Please who has an idea of when embassy will be going on break and if or not they'll observe public holiday declared for next Monday, 28th?
Still waiting for the a.m. mail, enrollment date 6th of January 2016 (2weeks time). The Alien office has already sent approval for visa but embassy saying stories... confused about my enrollment date as October. They sent a mail yesterday not via d normal email (after interview) but via info@lagos.auswaertige-amt.de that i clarify the date issue, i replied Immediately yet no response since then.
I hope and pray it's not delayed by God's grace.

Anyone with similar issue as well?

Wishing everyone a lovely Christmas ahead.

@All, pls can someone advice on what to do in this case as embassy is yet to respond? I'm thinking of requesting enrollment extension but the question is where would I present it? Should i requesst for it before 6th and send it to embassy or what should be done to it?

Please I need a response asap. Danke.

Hi good afternoon. Pls I need your advice.

I have a school to apply for in Germany and the MSc programme is taught in English. The application am looking forward to is for 2017/2018 session, that means application starts in January-July 2016. Please I want to apply for DAAD scholarship, I cant find my course but among the general faculty it is under Engineering sciences. My course is Petroleum Engineering.

Please can I apply? If yes when does DAAD scholarship begins?
Also, I saw from the requirements that IELTS band 6 is required for English Structured courses, so no need for German A1.....etc? If I have DAAD, do i need that 8040 i. my account?
Lastly, is DAAD Development related fully funded......Please thanks in anticipation for your counsels......BBM ME @: 7EE69203

Hello, DAAD scholarship usually comes out around April through to August or there about. It's highly competitive to be candid & if you ain't on First class chances are slim (from experience). Also you must apply like a year or 18months before your program depending on the exact program you planned going for. As for petroleum engrg masters it will be hard to find that directly unless you switch to something on energy management or renewable energy. Google daad scholarship 2015 to see past ones.
If you're lucky to be selected there will be no need for having the 8k€ in DB to get visa, direct entry! most of them don't require lang. cert as they usually organise one either before or during s program. They're all international courses with focus on sustainable development.
I hope this helps. Alles gute.

So, I went to the embassy at Abuja to open the blocked account, the form and a copy of my passport was stamped and a receipt was given to me.

I sent the complete form - signed and stamped, a copy of my admission letter and the stamped copy of my passport by courier service the same day and I was tracking it till it was delivered on 12th of this month, I sent deutsche bank a message yesterday and the reply was that the documents were not properly authenticated and should send it again

Please what could the problem be? Did I inquire too early? Cus I read it takes nothing less than a week(often longer) for them to finish the process and give you an account number and other information..I was hoping not all cases
Or is it that the embassy of Abuja isn't recognized?
Or my failure to send the receipt I received from the Embassy for the authentication?

Sorry friend, those people can be funny with their 'clueless' response. Well i really don't know about Abuja process but i will give the following advice IMO.
1. Fill another online enquiry to see if the response will change
2. If possible/feasible find your way to Lagos embassy to do a fresh one, since the bank said it wasn't authenticated correctly & you're not sure if going back to Abuja embassy will produce better result.
3. You can also forward their response to the embassy if sth can be done.

All the best!

Could it be because they already have an original with them before? You know from the last one you sent
Well it's not Impossible, just that everything happened in such a way that one can doubt the scanned copy being rejected. Meanwhile, it's opened for anyone to try.
Good luck.
Travel / Re: One Dies As Danfo Bus & Okada Rider Collide At Tincan Apapa (Graphic Photos) by Adexhat(m): 7:59pm On Nov 05, 2015
This ugly incidence occurred just in front of my office and the reckless danfo driver took one way which has become normal due to gridlock on the other side caused by tin can bound container trucks as well as tankers going to different depots. In my opinion considering that this can be averted I'll say

1. Root cause - unmanaged grid lock which has made other road users obliged to taking one way.

2. Secondary - over speeding of motorcycle rider to & fro that single lane without caution. Let me tell you that even as a vibrant youth I get scared & take extra precautions while crossing because of the road situation. If you miss a bike coming from 'to' direction many others will surface from the other direction all with speed as if 'ceteris paribus'

It's very painful the way this man met his untimely death and it's a call to the government to put in stringent checks on motorists in this area (from mile 2 to Tin can gate 2).

There is high possibility that they got the db form you sent to them via Nipost. I was lucky that my school extended my enrollment deadline, my visa is out, I will travel next week.

Yes, i think so as much as the high possibility that It's the one my friend sent on my behalf looking at the period in between and experience of others. Anyways, the future will tell when someone else tries it.
Congrats at your visa, go to Merkel land & succeed. Coming soon just behind!!!

Ok, that is new development from them, all of us here that was affected in August for not signing the last page of db form sent our forms again to them via courier, even on the message body that db sent to us it was stated clearly that we should sign the form send it to them via courier, scanning and e-mailing the form to your friend in Germany to send is new development, the problem you have in your form is it that you did not sign the last page or you did not tick a place where they write are you a citizen of US, because even Nigeria banks don't accept a scan signature in account opening form. Also I thought that you are contemplating whether to send a scan copy to your friend to send or to use a courier to send it. You suppose to have use one option and wait for the outcome instead using the two option at the same time.
congrat fund your account immediately, November is running fast.

Yeah, i was also affected in August and it's both ticking US citizen thing & failure to sign the acknowledgement part. So you also did yours on August 3rd! After they replied that I should resend another form by courier in September, I repackaged it and send using NIPOST since 15th September. It seemed d mail got lost in transit as I couldnt get its whereabout even tracking it directly from NAHCO. On Tuesday i called a their office in nahco (where i was told all percels are moved) but they where clueless and refered me back to the post office i mailed it from. The guy i spoke with on phone told me it seemed d mail is hanging in Amsterdam. However i had already signed it & sent to my friend by email to print and post from there. He told me it should get there last week Mon/Tuesday and I expected that the account details will be sent latest by tomorrow Friday (which is about a week like they did for @Sirkels here).

But because i wasn't sure if it will be accepted that's why i asked on this forum so that I won't be waiting endless peradventure they refused it (which they will NEVER tell me) and the nipost never gets there.

Like you said earlier, it seems its a new info for others on this forum and it can further be made substantial later.

What's good with you and when are you planning to move?

Cheers & success to those making fresh admission applications.

@Rayhut, i went to TNT to post the db form using their courier service & they charged me about 7,400naira & confirmed it will be delivered in 3days. I was so happy as DHL had billed me for like 13k yesterday & i was actually heading there before i changed direction to TNT. I was glad i saved like 5k.
Unfortunately the happiness didn't last long as just this afternoon db message came in with my account details! angry sad they'd actually received the one i sent through my friend by scanning the signed pages. Now it's a mix feeling of being happy that i now have my account & on the other side losing 7k.

Don't get me wrong i'm not castigating you on this, as a matter of fact i really appreciate your response. I just want others to learn from it that IT'S POSSIBLE you send a completed & signed db form to anyone you have there who will in turn post it for you & the bank DOES accept it as in the original.

Also with due respect to every contributors here, I'll advise we say how sure we are on any certain answers we profer (like Frank Edoho in WWTBAM will say) as this will guide people on their subsequent decision. Sometimes, we make innocent errors but i think it's better to put our information in such a way that 'it wilo not be taken against us' in court of law grin

Thanks once again Rayhut.

I'm sorry I have no answer to this..as I have no experience with the db but I did this with one of the schools I applied for and they didn't complain

I just went to the embassy at Abuja today for the db account, I was surprised it was returned to me (only with official stamps on it) to send to the bank in Germany. . I thought with the 20€ the embassy would handle that. Pls is this normal?

Thanks for your response. Well to the best of my understanding, the embassy is supposed to send it on your behalf just like they've been doing in Lagos. However, i wouldn't know if that's Abuja process or it's an entire new process of opening the account. My candid advice is that you send it by courier (dhl if possible for easy tracking) & don't ever use registered nipost mail to avoid future challenges like am having now (i should be out of it very soon by God's grace).

Meanwhile, i need others contributions to my previous post please.

Thanks

Hello all, pls i need a little clarification & or advise. Is it acceptable to send a scanned copy of my completed & signed DB form to a friend in Germany who will in turn print & send it by post? Can one still say the document is still 'in the original' as indicated in the email they (db) sent to me requesting i resubmit another form by courier/post. I've done interview since Sept 1st & till date still waiting for bank account details.

Please I need response asap as I've already sent another to a friend email to print & send for me but I'm not sure if it'll be accepted or not.

@Hampy,

Bros to be honest I would ve loved to ignore you but like the sayin goes,,na person friend dey tell am say e mouth dey smell...

Baba you ve nt handle this situation well....I tell you something, Sometimes we re faced with tough situations as young pple...our approach to things at that moment becomes the deciding factor.

I really dont know if things have changed but during my time you have to get to the embassy early..even if your interview is scheduled for 8am because you ve to been cleared and your documents checked..so you have to be there by7am or so, some persons get there by 5am man so you ve no case, by 7:45 you were late already so dont even go there claiming any right.

This thread has recorded abt 90% success rate ..Germany student visa is as easy as a,b,c ..get admitted, fund accoun,t go for interview, swallow some chill pills (waiting period) and boom visa ..If truely you wrote a letter to the UNHRC immediately after your interview that again is a no brainer bro..is this crack gettin to me or I find your story funny ..Like srxly you wrote a letter to the UNHCR,the Nigerian National assembly to complain poor treatment in a consulate for lateness abi dem nor gv u chair to sitdown..I guess your interviewer was nt sitting down too if you had to stand to do your interview...why nt politely ask for a seat there and then like pls can I get a sit or something...I m nt comfortable pls I need to sit my ass down ..you didnt..you went home to write a letter to UNHCR shocked..so when next you decide to write a letter complain abt hw our education sector is in rot hence the need for the exodus.

You see Eke07..that guy there advising you, I ve great respect for him you know why? is the way he keep his cool,IF i remember correctly last yr something went wrong with his sponsorship letter at the 11th hr..he didnt budge..he kept his cool and was encourgaing others..this year he has done his interview for over 2 mths and even when he had issues with his blocked account he kept his cool and till date he is still encouraging others ...thats the spirit of a successor..you dont achieve great things by playin the victims card..NEVER!

I hope your visa is granted in due time my broda but do us all some good by leaving some of these ***** at M.M intl airport in lagos..

all the best Man

@Cindino20, Hampy & Eke40seven... In my opinion, i think we should look at this issue NOT in the angle of who is right or wrong but different approach to varying issues that could Improve the situation. It's like having Mr A saying 10= 1+2+3+4 (the somewhat cool & patient one) and another Mr B saying 10= 5+5 (no time or room for nonsense).

I remembered few years back when Ashiru or so was the min of affairs that he had to stand up to complains of the people that Canadian embassy delays & hold passport for more months in the name of visa processing! It was kind of reversed just like the case of UK stuff quoted by Hampy. It shows that sometimes when we keep quiet on certain situations it could remain like that or even get worse later!

However @Hampy (Aluta brother smiley) taking it that far seemed quite overdoing, not casting blame though. Like you've rightly channeled it to the embassy you should have left it that level. I think German embassy is about the most hospitable among the 'popular' embassies in Nigeria & by my experience better in terms of their services, process & procedure. Like in every processes you've got INPUT - PROCESSING - OUTPUT - FEEDBACK - INPUT & the cycle goes on. The essence of the feedback is to help the processing & resultant output. In otherwords, your complain should be seen more as feedback that would help others coming behind get better treatment (as you intend to). If the feedback is not properly communicated, it can damage or distort the processing (just like what Cindino20 & Eke40seven are trying to point out).

In all, I pray we all get our dreams come true by God's grace. Let's allow this one love to continue here by understanding the perspectives & temperament of individual at play. I know how frustrating some newbies could be, but i think using 'spoonfeeding' at first enquiry isn't polite. Instead a link to that page can be given to help such a fellow. Let's bear ourselves which is one unique thing this forum has different from others.

May there be great testimonies of visa approval this week in Jesus name & successes in interviews as well.

Alles gute!

This problem is peculiar to almost everybody that submitted the application document on the 3rd of August, 2015. I received this mail today
" Dear Sirs,

thank you for sending us your account opening documents.

We regret your account cannot be opened because the documents are not completly filled. You did not sign

the "Depositor Information Sheet"

A signature on all marked positions at the documents is mandatory.
I got the same mail!

The actual valid form is available for free download on our website.

Please fill this writeable PDF document completely and exclusively by computer and sign it in all spaces
with the description "Signature of account holder" and "Acknowledgement of receipt by the depositor".

A confirmation from the German Embassy is not necessary.

All information can be found at
https://www.deutsche-bank.de/pfb/content/privatkunden/konto_international-students-en.html

Please send the account opening form in original by postal or courier service to our address".

After reading through the mail, I checked the form I submitted at the embassy. I remembered signing all the spaces marked with 'signature of account holder' at the embassy and I never saw anything like 'Acknowledgement of receipt by the depositor' on the form.

I put a call through the phone number on the DB website and was told I cannot be helped unless I fill and send the form as instructed in the mail. Feeling helpless, I downloaded another form. Alas, the form was different from the one I submitted at the embassy. There is a separate page titled 'Depositor Information Sheet' where the space to sign the 'Acknowledgement of receipt by the depositor' is.
Surprised, I checked the date I downloaded the one I submitted, it was on the 28th of July,2015. So I guessed the application form must have been changed in the first week of August as at the time I submitted the 'old one'.

The new form has four spaces where the account holder would have to sign unlike the 'old one' with just two spaces. In addition, you cannot fill the new form with ink/pen, it must be 'Type-filled'

I am now left with no choice than to send another form to DB but not through the embassy.

If you have sent your application with the old form and have not received notification from DB, I will advise you fill the new form and send to DB address ASAP.

Good morning everyone. Abeg my fellow 3rd of August 2015 account openers (hope my english correct) what is the way forward? I have sent mail severally to db but no response yet. Has anyone been able to get any explanation for the delay in the account numbers. Or has anyone contacted the embassy in lagos for info? Me i have called someone in Germany and he called the bank. They asked him to visit a branch close to him and give my details that they should have a better explanation. They even told him that its not suppose to take more than three weeks to send the numbers. Would brief you guys on their response when he gets there today.

Hi Sirkells, same situation here. I sent message to them enumerating two different questions with db account info being no.1 but they only answered the 2nd question. I even stated the date i applied for the account to be opened which was 3rd Aug. I can't figure out what's wrong bro.

Any person with idea of what could have been wrong?

With the way this trend is going, I see Germany taking over from UK, Canada and USA as the top most destination for international scholars in few years time. Assuming i knew about what Germany was offering earlier, by now i would have started my MSc, I was always focusing on UK alone which is even too expensive. Germany is the largest and the most important economy in the euro zone even better than UK, so also in terms of renewable development Germany leads the race and even USA is behind Germany.

You're on point bro, Germany is in leading position in the area of energy and climate. Ren. Energy generation share for her electricity is about 26% with plan to increase it to about 35% by 2030. The state i'm going generates 100% energy from wind and many more. I also wished i had known all these while. But it's better late than never as the saying goes... smiley

Renewable energy at University of Oldenburg. They told me to submit an English proficiency letter from my university, that they were fine with that. so i didnt use ielts

Oh, ok but check very well cos when the chips are down it might eventually surface. And yes, i have about 6years working experience, presently in a supervisory role in an energy ( oil & gas) company and I submitted a recommendation/introduction letter from the HR of my company aside one from my school HOD. GPA too is good, 2.25 (german conversion) from premier university in Nig.
I also submitted ielts result of 6.5 and some international program certificates I've on climate change & energy. I'm going for M.Eng Energy & Environmental Management.

@Obiwann, you can use d form given by Pompey4 although you might need to check with your course if it's supported by DAAD scholarship as not all courses are and i understand you already have an admission. However, you can go for your present program and after for next year's edition.
