The beginning of 2012 till the last quarter was a great year for me, I saw all my dreams bin fulfilled, but jut some few months down d line, I lost it all....For me, I am still looking up to God to restore al my looses and making it up for me. Personal forwarding phone numbers (also called "UK global redirects" are easily recognized, and they are a major red flag when it comes to identifying scams or scammers. The number is often given in the format +447024013818. The country code, (the +44) seemingly indicates that the number is UK-based number. The 70 prefix, however, identifies it as a personal forwarding number.

What is a personal forwarding number? or When is a London phone number not a London phone number?

Many phone providers offer this service for free. The number can be "forwarded" to any phone in the world. The charge for the call, which can be quite high, are billed to the caller, not the recipient of the call. The user of the number can apply for one more or less anonymously. Consequently, scammers love this free, portable number which can fool the unwary into believing they are located in the UK, while the scammer actually receives calls on an anonymous, prepaid cell phone on another continent, in another legal jurisdiction.

Does a personal forwarding number always equal a scam?

With very few exceptions, yes. Because of the high rates charged for the caller, legitimate UK businesses would not be eager to use a +4470 number as a contact number for customers or people applying for a job. In our time here at Fraudwatchers, we've only seen one legitimate business using a +4470 number as a public customer contact number. The business was a small company dedicated to arranging African safaris, and as such, the owners and employees were often traveling abroad and needed a dedicated UK number that could be forwarded to their mobile phones.

If you're given a +4470 number in the course of an email exchange, chances are you are dealing with a scammer. This is especially true if that number claims to belong to a London barrister, lawyer, travel agency, visa agency, lottery claim office or human resources/employment department.

ynx: Got the mail and sms too! Though I know it was a scam... I just wanted to know how much they wanna scam me for...so I called the so called "barrister mark" he now said I shud pay 18k to an account and forward the teller to him...and he will give me all the papers I need!!

Your entry clearance
An entry clearance can be a Visa or an Entry Certificate
Your visa or entry certificate will have effect as leave to enter when you arrive in the UK. Visit entry clearances will be valid
for unlimited journeys within the validity period. The duration of each visit will be limited to a maximum period of six months.
The expiry date reflects the date on which both the entry clearance and any leave to enter conferred by the entry clearance
are no longer effective. Therefore, you will be required to leave the UK by the expiry date.
Even if you hold a valid entry clearance you may still be examined by an Immigration Officer on arrival in the United
Kingdom. You can still be refused entry to the UK by an Immigration Officer if they are satisfied that:
(a) your entry clearance was obtained by false representations or by failure to disclose material, whether or not you
knew of these actions;
or
(b) there is a change in circumstances between the date of your application and your arrival in the UK; or refusal is justified
on medical grounds, because you are subject to a deportation order, or because your exclusion would be conducive to the
public good.
An Immigration Officer may also vary or suspend your leave to enter on arrival in the UK.
An Immigration Officer can ask anyone to be medically examined on arrival in the UK, if they consider it necessary. You may
be required to have a medical examination before your entry clearance is issued.
Non-EEA Dependant of an EEA national

A lady deir called me and it really looked real.I went for the interview, I got the job bt didnt take it becz it was abt marketing insurance stuffs..U will simply knw real companies, 1, u wud av applied to them, 2, u wud b able to get specific information abt dem, 3, dey wud av a website. 4, dey wudnt send u a mere text message.

bibelo: On the evening of tuesday 24th 2012 @ 8.54pm i got a text from +2348061109100 that reads thus:- Ref to ur application 4 job .U'r invited to P-SOLTN 110a awolowo way opp zenith bank ikeja Lagos on 26/7/12 by 10am 4 oral intview /posting.cme with ur cv.I read the text and went there on the 25/7/012 instead of 26/7/012 just to check the place out cos my office was near by.on getting there i located the building numbered 110 but i didnt see the so called P-SOLTN cos i didnt enter the compound.On the said day i proceeded to the said address entered the compound and went straight behind then i came across a sign post with the name primesav solutions,i was suprised but moved forward and saw a small bungalow(shop or bQ,which ever 1)with people neatly dressed and seated.I Immediately knew this was the place,i met 4 guys and a lady making me the sixth applicant.I took my seat and soon more applicants were coming in and some even had to stand outside.Na im them begin call us in,the guy that came in after me was looking for where to duplicate his cv,i told him no need that it wouldnt be possible cos of the Thursday environmental.We got talking and i told him i applied to this company 2yrs ago via an advert and they are just calling me,while we were talking the 4 guys that i met there had done their "INTERVIEW" and left so it was the lady that was having hers soon she came out and it was my turn.I got in sat down wanted to give the lady conducting the "INTERVIEW" my cv when i remembered that the form i collected from "SEAWAY CO LTD"(story for anoda day) 2DAYS B4 was on my cv so i tore off the form and handed it over.She looked at it ,meanwhile i was given a laminated paper to read their terms and conditions.She then told me there is a vacancy in an oil servicing company on the island but before she gives me the address i have to register with N2,000.instantly i said i didnt have that money that i would have to make use of my ATM(which was a LIE cos i had 15k in my back pocket)the lady said ok i should bring 1k,i said i didnt have up to that,she later said ok bring 500,i said i didnt have up to that ,then she said oya anything less than 500 will be fyn,i told her i would come back and i left but stayed outside to wait for the guy i was chatting with prior to my "INTERVIEW".He was tru and i asked him did u pay cos i didnt,he said he told the woman he had only 570 on him which he surrendered the 500 to her was left with only N70 to get to ikorodu.I felt pity for him and told him i noticed they were desperate to get money thats why i didnt pay and i had to help him with t.fare cos i knew N70 can only take him to ojota and then no born am well to treck from ojota to ikorodu.JOB SEEKERS BEWARE

So also did many others.The guiding principle for us all should be this:Any company that ask u for money before giving u employment is a scam.Just keep off dem.May God help us all in dis country.

I got the same mesg and many more but I never went. I simply jut knew dey were fake.

U arent wrong...D question simply means no harm...Perhaps dere was something eating her up and she jut nided something as simple as a greeting to burst it out. Its nt people say and how dey say it dat matters but how we respond to it.

I had a similar experince.. for me it was my 2fones, a bb inclusive and a whopping sum of 114,000 dey took frm me.Bfor u doubt ma stoty, pls read and follow me.
I am naturallly a very sympathectic person, always wanting to help those who I come across wt anything I cud. So this day frm work, this sad and remorse looking guy came to me dat he was looking or someone to sell a particular drug too becz his mum is in the hospital and nided money for her breast cancer surgery...I initially dismissed him and told him to check across the road where Yemkem is since he wanted to sell sometin like a traditional drug. He further begged me that his mum is really sick and he is nt seeking for money from me, he jut wanted me to help me show him the place...His said his mum is dying of breast cancer and that he is new to Lag and people had swindled him all ard showing him fake places and collecting money frm him. I really pitied him and thought of my frist time in Lag and aw I often got pple to help me locate places ard...I think I made a BIG mistake of giving him such audience. Suddenly anoda guy came to me and said he knew the drugs and the place and all sorts dat we shud kindly help him ooo...Frm dere I dint knw wat happened to me afterwards until I started following dem...I followed dem to a place called idiaraba, after luth, it really a ghetto, filled wt men smoking indian hemp and nko...I remeba seeing LUTH after I was coming back...Dere we met a third guy who acted like he was d herbalist who wanted to buy the drug...he did some incantations (turning oil into water, making stone disaapear and ko)and made me drop the money on ma wallet 4000, ma fones and my atm cards...I think dey used jazz to make me do all this things... i told dem ma code and den dey told me to go home and get some more!!!!
I did go home and was looking for more money. Note dat dey had taken ma fone and cudnt reach anyone....I was like a dundi ooo, a fool...Wen I got home, I saw some money bt I was like I am nt gonna take this money, I wud prefer to die dan steal frm ma aunty who I stay wt. Dey told me befor dey made me leave dat place dat I shudnt tell anyone, I shud just go and get all the money, gold at home and pack dem, put them in a nylon and come back to him... i wudnt av bin able to locate the place back so the man(the herbalist guy performing all the magic) gave ma a fone no and dt I shud give him a call him wen am coming back. Imagine such audacity!!!! Anyway, Like I was saying, I MADE UP MA mind not to take the money, rather damn the consequences, I think dat was wen the jazz was wearing off... I thot of who to go and meet and tell this too becz I was so scared I was gonna die in 4hrs dat d guy gave me. Note dat at this point, d 2nd guy too acted like he was part of the saga, (the first guy was jut acting morose, sad).He acted as douh he was goin to get money frm his home too( I didnt knw dat d three of dem are all masterminders of d plan)...I thot of going to tell ma aunt(I didnt meet anyone at home),bt I reasoned dt in 4hrs I wudnt be able to reach dem befor I die. So God in His infinite mercy made me reach a friend who stays close to me, He jut came to Lag some days ago...I went to his place and told him the story,After listening, he told me that all was jazz....My friends dat was wen I realised I had been a big fool.
Did I mention ma atm cards I dropped wt my codes...U can trust that Immediately I left dem, dey went to d bank and withdrew all my money. Its was two accts, One had 10,000 in one, the other had 100,000(all my nysc savings I had gathered all thru the yr)...I tried to contact the bank...But bcz of netwok issues of bank and gsm netwok and all that, I wasnt able to reach the customer service of the one that had the bulk of the money until 10pm dat day( the accident happned betw 6-7.30pm)...By d time I got thru to dem,all ma money had been withdrawn!!!! It was confirmed frm the bank dat the time dey wtdrew ma money was immediately after I left dem.
I said earlier that the guy gave me a no to call him wen I get more money and glod frm home. I didnt go back dere, dough I call him befor I eventually went to ma friends house. I noticed now dat he was concerned abt if dere was money wt me,dough dere was nothing I told him yes n he told him to come meet him at Idiaraba, he said wen I get to a spot closer ro d place, I shud cal him. Note dat he gave me 500 naira to go home and get mor money and come back to him...He also gave the oda guy 300 or so, acting like he wasnt a part of the plan.
The following day, dey were still trying to call back and all sorst. Becz dey had my contacts(befor I blocked the line)dey tried reaching all my contacts maybe to threaten me and dey were particulary calling one no, becz it was ma most received call,in ma maissed call and dey wud av sin mesgs frm dat no and it was also d no of my friend who I went to go and visit and tel him al dat happened. U may ask wat I did after all this. I did al the strez of goin to d police station...wrote statments and all, bt trust Nig police,wat wud dey do?Its was in ma presence one officer got 300.00 to release a criminal.I have retrived ma lines and blocked those atm cards and dnt use one of the banks anymor.
Still date, am still in shock abt aw it all happened and it looked like it was africa magic yoruba, But I thank God... God helped me pull thru this and has blessed me beyond what I lost to them. As for those guys including d one dat started it up...God will severely purnish them...In as much as God is merciful, He is also a consuming Fire, a God of Judgement. I jut simply pity the innocent pple who wud share in this trouble when God visit them.
One lesson I have learnt frm this is never to talk to stragers on the road. Yesterday,wen goin frm work I saw a good looking guy who nided assistance,I simply overlooked him , dough I felt to sorry for him , he looked so lost...but then who knws!!! D guy who came to meet me looked lost as well and the sympathetic me fell for his lies. So now, I simply overlook and I tell u even if the person is dieing...I am not helping or talking to stragers. God foergiv me if this is wrong but this is a hard lesson I hav learnt the hard way.
Thru this I have learnt to be positive and thank God for life. Friends, be watchful, be vigilant, use ur innermind...Its cud have been worse...I dont knw why me...But God has thought me a lot thru this...Pls tell ur friends my story and let people learn.
