Literature / A Nairalander Poem To Mothers On Mother's Day by Adextaiwo48(m): 1:57pm On May 09, 2016
Mother It took me nine moons to meet this woman another five to recognise Her She's magnificently strong for a human Her love can strangle a Jaguar She pampers me like her own soul and Her waterfall a fountain that made me whole

She corrects fiercely like a lion and love tenderly like a sheep When i go astray, She doesn't care to bring me back with an iron and embraces me with Her tender lip Her fragrance fills my stomach like a lovely stew Her joyful tears blesses me like the morning dew

Your womb my first home Your arm a relaxant Your back creates comfort than a thousand foam you taught me all even the lessons of the ant She starves her body so that i can be filled and promises to make me a forest when I'm but a seed

You're a deity to be worship You worth more than a million gold A temple is a small to wash away Your hardship A messiah whose path is paradise road Word alone cannot express Your kindness for you deserve more than a palace - Your Highness!

Ode to an Elephant ( A tribute to Prof Wole Soyinka)
They said the beautiful are not yet born But the fearless are not yet gone The Elephant of Egba still swaggers in the jungle Even the lions dare not rumble The great hawk that frightens the mother hen The lone voice that straighten our nation when the path derails The black jaguar who swallowed the white snail The iroko who stands when baobab fell

He carries the cloud on his head And unites nations with his words With His pen he conquers where sword fails The one whose creativity oppress the oppressors Looks fragile like china But his courage can move idanre hills The one who serve as a museum of our culture The brave elephant in the forest of demons The voice that refused to be silenced even when lips won't move The fish who survived even when the climate was fearfully hot The horseman who rode with death and kings The lion who becomes the jewel of our heritage and made us giants like the elephant of the forest The one who deserves all the ink of an African poet A ladder of attainment for the hopeless aiming for the sky

Even when the sculptures carve no more images the one in his shelf will still reckon forever A great icon to be canonise A man who made history then turns legend The great Elephant who knows the trick of the jungle The oracle who sits at the helm of knowledge Your are truly a gem to our world.

They said the beautiful are not yet born
But the fearless are not yet gone
The Elephant of Egba still swaggers in the jungle
Even the lions dare not rumble
The great hawk that frightens the mother hen
The lone voice that straighten our nation when
the path derails

With His pen he conquers where sword fails
The one whose creativity oppress the oppressors
Looks fragile like china
But his courage can move idanre hills
The one who serve as a museum of our culture
The brave elephant in the forest of demons
The voice that refused to be silenced even when lips won't move
The fish who survived even when the climate was fearfully hot
The horseman who rode with death and kings

Education / Reunstate Ogunruku Now!!!... Oau Students Calls Out. by Adextaiwo48(m): 7:11am On Nov 19, 2015
ESPRIT DE CORPS, THE STRENGTH OF A UNION.

With a heavy but hopeful heart, I put these words into writing. The bond of solidarity is broken when peace is accepted in place of justice in a struggle. Five have been reinstated, should we now forget the remaining dedicated one? Ogunruku's suspension has gone into oblivion due to: the devilish mind of our management; low consciousness amidst the students and the insincerity and unseriousness of the Students' Union leadership.

Yesterday morning, around 6am, or thereabout, I approached Mr President in his room to discuss honestly and clearly on how far they have gone on Ogunruku's case. I asked him to tell me the real truth on how far he has gone with Ogunruku's reinstatement, his responses were '' did you hear our announcements yester night and did you see my open letter to the vice chancellor. I humbly replied him ''yes i did but it is not all the pieces of information that the General gives to his lower soldiers, all I need is the gospel truth on how far you have gone with this case. Subsequently, I asked another two questions '' Mr President, are you really sincere with this Ogunruku's struggle and do you think that Ogunruku's reinstatement is possible?’’ He responded by saying that my questions are ''INSULTING,'' that he would be foolish fighting a war he cannot win, and I responded by saying that ’’when Late Ojukwu led the Ibos to the civil war he never thought he would lose, man can never predict the future.’’ Afterward, he said that it is bad that I am here to question him on Ogunruku's suspension and he walked out on me and went outside to discuss, leaving me in his room, I told the other person with us ''I am not a journalist; I am here to listen to the truth and proffer a practical way forward.'' He demanded for the way forward, and I said that the he should call the president so that I can submit it to him in his presence'' he called but the president refused to give him an answer and eventually he even joined the president in the discussion. After some minutes lonely in his room, I had to sadly go back to my room. Our leaders are only good at writing letters and having frequent unfruitful meetings with the management: they are not sincere and serious with this reinstatement. My little stay on this campus has taught me that the management are not always bothered by what you rant or write but they are interested in what you can do or do. We have had occasions, our leaders will go to DSA to compromise and take coffee but when they come to the halls, they will tell students that ‘’ we told mama to sit down and listen to us, and she sat down.’’ Not too far, during the NUGA games, in Awo hall when we stood against the management’s oppressive decision of sending us out of the halls then came the dean of students’ affairs, MAMA. I can never forget that abusive and degrading songs were composed with her name in her presence, with smiles and laugher she danced to those songs. Eventually, we won that struggle.

It is a thing of shame and tears when students are heard saying '' Ogunruku has no future, what stops him from going to another school since four years; he is not a student; you cannot fight the management and win; why should a fresher join a struggle and even lead it'' and so many other reactionary statements. Only low consciousness or naivety and betrayal can instigate those statements. Some students are not aware of his suspension; others are historically bereft of his adventure.

Our ever-oppressive management think that with victimisations and threats of closing down the school they can sabotage our efforts and make us silent in oppression. They have failed in that shallow belief! In other to make Ogunruku's reinstatement impossible they have been busy via their emissaries spreading the fallacy and lie that Ogunruku is not a student. Our management are not easy to fight and defeat when we are divided or with low consciousness. These emissaries of Lucifer on earth are easily defeated by our unity and high consciousness. They are scared of our unity, numbers, and high consciousness. That is why they are tirelessly engaged in using US against US and furthermore victimise our comrades in other to kill our consciousness.

Fellow soldiers in struggle, let us rise to fight this good fight with all our might, solidarity is our bond and justice our beacon. At this time, we need to drop our ideological, political, and religious differences in making sure that COMRADE OLAWALE OGUNRUKU is reinstated next week. I am not being utopian: the possibility lies on our sincerity and seriousness. Consequently, I submit the following as ways forward:

+The union leadership should by this weekend make a clear and comprehensive historical background write-up on the events before and after Ogunruku's suspension to sensitize the students,
+A lecture boycott should be declared on Monday,
+On that Monday, in our numbers, with placards, pictures of Ogunruku and our chants march to Directorate Students' Affairs (DSA) and to senate, there we shall stay with our voices and feet until Ogunruku is reinstated
Of the greatest Ife, if this realistic and practical method is employed, I make bold to assert that Ogunruku's suspension will end and be a victory story to us and generations to come. However, if we remain mute, history will be mad at us and more harmful policies and actions will flood our campus.

Sports / ‘i’m Tired Of All The Messi Comparisons, Am Not A Fake Person’ – Cr7 by Adextaiwo48(m): 3:46pm On Nov 06, 2015
Real Madrid’s Cristiano Ronaldo is tired of comparisons with Barcelona rival Lionel Messi and understands why some people must dislike his personality or the ways he sees football. Speaking ahead of the release of his personal film “Ronaldo”, the FIFA World Player of the Year told Reuters TV that he is “not a fake person.”

“I have my style, he has his style, his own style,” he said of Messi, his greatest rival. “We have to respect that people compare all the time. And it is normal, we are compared since we are babies, I don´t mean me and Messi but all the persons in school. Who is more clever, who is more fast, it´s normal, it´s part of the life.

ronaldo

“It does not surprise me any more but some times it makes me tired because it´s always same thing and they still repeat and repeat, one year, another year, every year.”

Critics say the Portugal forward’s celebrations sometimes have an air of arrogance or egoism about them. Added to the fact that Ronaldo is never shy to show his muscles or make defiant gestures after scoring. He startled the audience at this year’s World Player of the Year award by bellowing “Sim” (yes) into the microphone after he was announced as the Balloon d’or 2014 winner.

Asked why people may dislike him, Ronaldo said:

“Maybe the way I am, my personality, the way I see football. I´m not a fake person. It´s normal, it´s part of the business. No one can control that,”

Ronaldo’s film, due to be released on Nov 9, depicts the striker as a family man and shows how he lives on and off the pitch.

During a different interview with the BBC, Ronaldo described himself as “unbelievable on the pitch.”

“I don’t need to say ‘I’m in the history of football, I’m a legend’. The numbers say everything,” he said.

“I have to say to be in my shoes is not easy. But I’m not complaining. I just want to say that. I feel happy. All this happens because of a reason. The reason is I’m unbelievable inside the pitch.”

“This is why the people have so much interest on me. So it’s as simple as that. I’m good, I’m happy, I’m motivated all the time. I’m very professional and I want to carry on like that.”

Politics / Ibikunle Amosun, A Dormant Governor? by Adextaiwo48(m): 11:28am On Nov 04, 2015
The state of things in most part of Ogun state got me thinking if there is really a acting governor in the state. Especially the traumatic state of the major roads in most part of the state.
The state governor during the wee hour of his first tenure, having realised the political power vested in the people through election, came around especially in the sango - ijoko environment, and started demolition of buildings and structures as a step towards the construction of roads in the environment.
People were happy with the believe that the government atlast remember them. The construction went on for about 3months with the governor coming around to supervise this project almost every weekend. All of a sudden the project came to a halt, the manageable road with a bit of tarr had been graded to red mud,the little gutters that allow minimal flow of water had been blocked and the newly constructed canals are as good as useless.
The governor promised that the project would come back to live after election and that can only be possible if he is voted in. Now election had come and gone, Senator Ibikunle Amosun had been voted in once again and it's already more than 6months yet the construction of major roads in the state hadn't been continued. Examples of such roads are Ijoko otta road that links Sango to Agbado, the Atan road, the Sango otta road and many more.
The state of these roads can make even the people in the most rural area of the world thank their stars and call themselves lucky as a village farm road is better. People dare not drive their cars especially in the rainy season as people do park their cars and board public transport because of the damages the road can cause. Imagine a road where water flow inside a space bus like 'Sienna', then what is the fate of lower cars, you can never ply the road twice in a day without going to see a doctor on your arrival as you'll perform various type of dances in the 'sardine tins' that serve as buses.
I on behalf of the entire populace of Ogun state especially the aforementioned area implore the governor of the state to do something to the deteriorating state of the roads in these areas as these are major roads which people plies everyday as the state of these roads are causing sufferings and even increase in standard of living of people living in these areas as drivers charges double to convey people on these roads and these excesses are being made on goods sold.

what was Amosun doing when the economy was buoyant...
when he made out plans for the construction of the abandoned roads, didn't he make plans on how to get money for the construction?

Do Nigerians even think smh. Seriously do you even read at all about the present state of the world and the Nigerian economy. Why don't you print some money and give it to Amosun to complete the construction. The economy has nosedived due to depressed oil prices so where exactly is the money going to come from. Do try to learn joined up thinking.

do you even have brain atall?... why are you myopic and lazy in your thinking... what happened to d allocations, and the budget the government made on the road previously... if you live in the mentioned area you won't reason so shallow.

Below are the pictures of some of the roads
