SUBMARINE:You presented.rubbish. I did not finish reading it when i noticed somthing about turning everybody to a tea, milk and sugar manufacturer or words to thar effect. |
Vote for GMB and take your country back. Jonathan has almost sold everything to his friends without improvements because he is replacing govt monopoly with private I hate monopoly and he is not collecting taxes. Instead he is giving the thieves even more grants. Transformation is meaningless and on km y shallow people without intellect are moved by it. You award a contra t for a road I was supposed to have twenty years ago, steal the money so I don't get the road, then you borrow money to finally do the road, finish the road at thrice the cost then say it is PPP and put a toll gate on it. This is robbery that will fool TH village boy in Atakumosa, Isikuato or Mambilla. To |
ziccoit:The point is that Buhari is actually an academically accomplished military professional. Most of the people asking for his certificates are actually people who don't have degrees or struggled to get their degrees. All the basic schools the man finished in his life were run by the British and there was no forgery at that time whatsoever. Could young certificate forgers be the ones make these noises now?. This Ikpeba who is saying this speaks very bad English on international television and there is no record of him finishing secondary school before becoming a footballer |
mrmetoo1:APC respected Nigerians so much they did not allow Tinubu (party leader) and Amaechi (lots of sacrifice for the party) to be Vic Presidential candidates. What other demonstration do you need of a commitment to rooting out corruption. |
jdilight:You are a liar on the roads. Please don't insult us. I am 8 months New in the country and just travelled Uyo Calabar. There are a lot of other roads completely destroyed. As for railways I am not impressed and I said the same from the regime of Obasanjo who actually started the rehabilitation of railways. We are not scratching the surface of what we should have been doing in this sector. Jonathan and his clique have been looting the budget, awarding road contra thrice stealing monies and completing the roads with borrowed Chinese money. If you have not looked for information and probed deeply enough then do that and don't do idle praise and worship of man here. As for Car Manufacturing I want to cry when I hear your display of ignorance. Car assembly and partial manufacturing was a well developed sector in Nigeria when Jonathan was still just a poor university graduate. Nigeria was making Peugeot and Volkswagen cars with progressive value adds up to 30%. Indeed PAN in Kaduna s still exporting cars to the west African region. Jonathan did not do anything new in encouraging car production and that is a grouse I have with the architect of th policy Aganga who has not methodically supported value chain diagram to ensure that the intermediate products that go into cars are also available locally. All he has said is that the manufacturer will bring in his supply chain. Pipe dream. |
beopened:My brother a good nature generates positive vibes. PDP has messed up the state. I served in Isiala Ngwa in 1985/86 and was frequenting Aba weekly. What has happened to this state is a crime against humanity. Only somebody who will never see good will wish PDP on Abia state again. Zero roads, zero health, bad schools. Why?. Orji Kalu had an airline after finishing with his state. Who knows what business the Orji idiot there now will start when he finishes. Akotiletas is what we call these people in my language I am an APC supporter but even if it is APGA that Abia people prefer it is better. Anything but occult governance of a very important state of Nigeria under a dull looking and clueless Jonathan as President. |
warrior01:Yes you might have problems understanding his big English. He was using words like ''entrepreneurship''. Then he spoke about anti corruption which made you scared and feverish. |
Buhari says; " the entrepreneurship of the Ibo Man is not in doubt. He is promising infrastructure, power and roads. Soft loans, farmer support...et.c. Security to be ensured. Boko Haram, Kidnappers will be shown the Red Carpet. |
Okorocha is one of the only natural politicians in Nigaria. I am enjoying his campaigning. Let us get dull drab PDP business-men politicians out of office. Ibo land is too noble for IDIOTS. |
OLADD:They jail people 300 years sir. Madoff was almost 80 years and he got almost a century for financial offences. Pleas go to China and commit a financial offence, they won't jail you 300 years, they will take your life. The 53 suitcases issue was just a gimmick to sell newspapers. There was no Naira stuffed in them and it still reflects badly on the intelligence of people saying and Emir brought Naira to Nigeria when they changed currency. Th best thing would have been to leave it abroad. As for Buhari' s advice to Jonathan on defence. This two people meet regularly at the Council of States Meeting and some National Security meetings but take it from me that JONATHAN IS THE WORST COMMANDER IN CHIEF and Chief Security Officer any county could ever have. Let us get that quickly out of the way because he bh himself, the CDS and all other service chiefs (including especially the departed Ihejirika) with the exception of maybe Minimah are just a bunch of corrupt business men in uniform and they are actually likely to be defeated by Boko Haram. When you hear people say controversial things like this with confidence know one is doing so out of a sense of responsibility and good observation. |
atlwireles:Nigerians were eating their future under loans during Shagari regime, we were essentially not paying for the rice milk, sugar we were eating. We were not queing, why should you queue for something they want to use to enslave you. For IBB regime they were not queuing because the problem had been solved before he overthrew Buhari. Every knowledgeable person now knows that IBB' s coup was for self protection not for economic issues. He and Abiola basically did the coup to save their necks. Now that is a great lesson for Jonathan who is always afraid of people working under him. Bulgaria/Idiagbon were going to take IBB out and have and his boys were lucky to strike first. IBB was corrupted by the Shagari regime, they used to give him and his boys contracts and import licenses to settle him so that he does not plan coups. All temporary economic problems and SHORTAGES were already solved when IBB struck so there was no queue for basic commodities. |
atlwireles:Interesting question. Shagari' s regime squandered money and were the inventors of the word "essential commodities". In fact Umaru Dikko who was nearly put in a crate (heroically) by the Buhari regime used to be called Minister for Rice derogatorilly. You won't believe the corruption of that time and you should not because of politics refuse to say the truth. They were selling import duties tor RICE. Can you believe that?..somebody a party member lobbies and gets import duty for rice, automatically he knows he is a millionaire (billionaire now) so if his wants to make his money quickly, he sells the license to Mr B, who sells to Mr C, who sells to Mr D. Mr D now imports the rice. All the costs get passed on to the poor consumer. The goods were AVAILABLE BUT VERY EXPENSIVE during Shagari period. Also Dangote was a young favoured importer at the time, I am not denigrating his efforts but it is good to understand that the odds were sometimes stacked in favour of some of the big shots we have now The Shagari regime got us into serious trouble with long term loans which was bad enough but also heavy short term instruments like Export Credits, Letters of Credits and so on that were not being serviced. The short term loans were what ruined Nigeria.. During g IBB he devalued the currency massively, had Falae and others as Ministers of Finance and we were not queuing for goods. It is so important to emphasize that queing or not queuing is not the issue. If the problem is one of temporary shortage that is being addressed via local production and solving of logistic issues then no problem. The problem is when you have to sell your future and that of your children because of sugar, milk and rice. The IBB regime rendered the Naira useless and all.infrastructural.problems we have now could be traced to that regime. It became very expensive (x100) to build roads, bridges and schools. Every time you wonder why Dubai is so much finer than Nigeria think of the decades we operated under the terrible exchange rate regime. Our currency was N0.55 to the US dollar before everything but it was the Shagari regime first got us into trouble, Awolowo warned him and the country but let us not even get into that every mistake in life is punished arguing about things is just a waste of time. Buhari tried to correct things but it was IBB who parked Nigeria's bus inside TROUBLE itself. IBB is now Jonathan's Fads. The problem with Jonathan is that he is empty in economic terms and he does not have an ideology. Ngozi Iweala, Sebum Aganga, Akinwunmi Adesina and Johnson are very very smart but they are all products of a certain tendency that likes foreign financing for everything and foreign loans for everything. I actually admire Aganga, what he has done for industries in the East and manufacturing in the industrial estates of the west is commendable but we need a president who is bright enough at meetings to ask about jobs for his children, taxes for his people and training and skills for his young graduates. This one is too busy counting executive jets. Meanwhile take a listen to Osinbajo. They are also targeting local manufacturing but it will be local technology development focussed and they will target Textiles, Agro Allied, Machine building et.c |
theV0ice:My major problem is that he was too dumb as a Masters student to understand what was happening. He queued to buy milk that he could afford. If the Naira had been devalued he would not have been able to afford the milk, he would not have been on the milk queue, he would have been on the garri/sugar queue. The problems did not last more than one year before local manufacturing took up the slack in supply with cheap dollars at N2 to $1 and we were able to weather the storm now those companies Nestle, Cadburys, Chuchgate, Honeywell, WAMCO et.c are very strong on the stock exchange with market capitalization of billions. Thanks to Buhari and stubborn Idiagbon especially. |
theV0ice:No body s queing to eat anymore. All these products are now made in Nigeria. Essential commodities are now common commodities thanks to Buhari' s support that protected local manufacturers from imports at a time local average earnings would not have been able to buy even one tin of milk. Please go and talk to MAN reps in your area. Buhari saved the local FMCG industry with his policies. The Jonathan regime would have done the same type of import restrictions if they would have won in February although we all know they are going to lose. They are already tariffing luxury goods heavily and moving down to FMCG. There are already thirty brands of imported corn flakes in Nigeria, I would advise you if you have a friend in that business to start local production or go into something else |
LRNZH:Don't mind Jonathan, I once went to an LGA very close to his many years ago. They had an award winning rice farm established by military regimes laying fallow for like 20 years. Completely abandoned hectares upon hectares of farmland because they discovered oil and gas. The man and the educated tilling class in the Niger delta are completely empty and I am sorry tor being tribalistic but the truth must be told about this man who was deputy governor and governor there for at least six years. If you hop on a chopper ride from portharcourt to what is caller Nun River, you overtly for about 45minutes some of the most impressive fresh water rainforest land interspersed by hundreds of mini rivers before you even get to the rice farms.so many opportunities thrown away in the Niger Delta by the most unintelligent and dumbest president Nigeria has ever had. |
Aksonman:Chineke I am smarter than you. The Gulf war has developed the American aerospace industry 20 times over. On this N5000 a month and school feeding you are the one who is being made a fool of by people who see it as waste. I enjoyed free food in primary school and free books in secondary school. So let me let you in on a secret. These programs stimulate the economy. The N5000 per head that you hear of is going to these companies, Dangote for Noodles, Nestle for powdered milk (they even make mini milk packs now targeting poorer consumers), food stuff sellers, suya sellers and so on. Any massive government program like that just creates billionaires in the local economy.Dangote is already smilling. The primary school feeding sector is boom for the MrBiggs, Tantalizers of the world. The programs will cost maybe N1.5 trillion a year to government but keep children in school, give hope to unemployed graduates who must always be kept hopeful and reduce crime. It also puts the government's hand on the pulse of society as far as hard data about people demographics is concerned. Another interesting thing is that 30% of this money is coming back o government in taxes and Nigerian companies develop scale economics to take over the west African and African markets. The Jonathan government itself is playing around with social welfare ideas, go and ask aunty Ngozi. The only problem with Clueless is an intellectual deficiency one that believes managing an economy is huddling with billionaires to share money and opportunities and counting the number of private jets as an index of economic development. |
ogb5:This is a very unfortunate reaction to what was a very commendable policy for its time. Nigeria was under attack by economic hit men. The Naira was under attack and they knew we had a middle class that was addicted to foreign goods that unfortunately Nigeria had capacity to manufacture. So what does a responsible government do. Devalue your currency by 10000% in six months and allow goods to flow in that your people would not be able to pay for at N300 to the dollar. Or quickly intervene and encourage local manufacturing while doing some foreign exchange rationing and "communist style price control". Most Aba traders fell in with the government on price control and the clever ones made even money from volume sales while others started HOARDING. It was hoarding that led to the shortages and made the government to promulgate decrees against the practice. The trading cities of Lagos island, Ibadan Molete, Aba, Kano, Kaduna and Onitsha were seriously monitored by the army to prevent hoarding. All the economic policies of Buhari regime were congruent with time and supported by 90% of Nigerians. The formulators of the program were civilian university lecturers and top civil servants. Nigeria has since developed a very large FMCG sector with companies like Nestle, Cadburys, Dangote and so on making billions in passed in profit. If we had allowed the naira there die and killed off local manufacturing there would have been no industry in Nigeria. To further bust the LIE of Jonathan, this government is actually doing the same thing. They destroyed over $200million of imported fish last year. WHY?. Was it not Nigerian business men and traders that brought them in? They are also encouraging NAGRO-PRENEURS, and YOU-WIN people to dare and develop farms, agro allied and manufacturing industries in Nigeria, let us see how much of that is possible without protecting these hard working young men and women. To make the matter clear to you JONATHAN LOVER. Nigeria has already lost a particular war in POWER GENERATION. We are very stupid in this country because we encourage importation and trading over investment. Nigeria was the target of corporate strategies in South East Asia to bring in petrol and diesel generators in the late 80s and 90s. The power short fall was around 20000mW, now its maybe 30000MW.Do you know how many 5kw generators this translates to? - 6, 000,000 units of generators every two years. That is what an economy that does not plan suffers. |
Very few people are voting Jonathan in FeBuhari. |
Buhari will take Jonathan apart on this issue. I think the President is exposing himself badly. Baga has been attacknd again and 3/4 of Borno State is under Boko Haram and you are arguint defence and security with your opponent who is a decorated general. |
LordReed:This is going to knock out a number of banks. To be honest with you I don't like the new CBN governor. He lacks foresight and is very parochial. What Nigeria should be doing is targeting diaspora transfers that can be in excess of $45billion a year through special instruments. Our human resources abroad make more foreign exchange than oil and gas makes for us locality and also many things are possible if only the man were really bright instead of bringing ideas like stealing N65 from cross ATM transactions. |
ibrokola:Most GEJ supporters have this'm problem, they give the impression that they are mostly importer - exporter types who went to adult education school or something. The man GEJ who is not blessed with speech making abilities makes illogcal statements, tells outright lies or childish exaggerations and instead of keeping quiet so that light is not shone on those areas they keep praising him in public on those same issues. It is unbelievable sometimes. |
oneeast:Jonathan did not speak like a graduate. You must have attended a village school. His grammar, inflexion and choice of words were mediocre. If you send a child to secondiry school and he speaks like the President did you should be very concerned. I agree that he was aggressive and spoke with passion but the quality was poor and if you don't realize that we have a big problem in Nigeria. |
When Buhari was putting Umaru Dikko in a crate, Nigerians were cheering. Please Mr President, you are mis reading history. Umaru Dikko was like Shekau to Nigeria then and the government's failed action in this regard was supported by students, workers, middle class and many politicians. Also the President' s talk about queuing for essential commodities was disingenuous, the current globalised world economic system that we have now was not existing and most countries were operating one of economic nationalism and defence of currency value, control of local inflation et.,c.. Nigeria's oil exports were down because of oil glut, foreign exchange was scarce and naira value was under pressure and we had to ration foreign exchange between consumer goods and capital goods that will make the economy grow. Was that too hard for a mentally challenged Ijaw graduate doing his master's to understand?. The west wanted a sudden devaluation of currency followed by taking of loans which would have been economic slavery. Devaluation would have been a net transfer of wealth from Nigeria to Europe and the US be wise they were out main trading partners. So imported goods had to be rationed short term meanwhile Aba traders were hoarding and becoming millionaires and that was declared an economic sabotating offence. I suspect the President is gong to be drilled on his comments on the economic performance of Buhari, a gov t that reduced our foreign loans in the next few days. There was no globalization, the internet was not so widespread and many countries in the world were doing what Nigeria was doing including China, Brazil and wait for it, South Korea. It is disappointing that a man with PhD like the President would throw in a negative example of left of centre economics without stating the right historical context in order to confuse his typically half educated supporters....or maybe he himself did not understand what was going on in the world even as a master student. |
Nigeria did nit buy over 500 aircraft in 1983. We acquired a lot of our defence systems in the eighties and Jonathan is very WRONG to say there was no procurement in those years. A lot of the deliveries of the late 80s were actually contracted when Buhari was in the army or was head of state. The only few invasions of Nigeria that we experienced were crushed by Buhari when he was GOC sometimes without waiting for orders from the commander in chief. All these actions boosted his reputation in the army and when the coup against Shagari came there was no other person to invite as head of state. For Jonathan supporters, it is important to advise the president that government is not a business. It is commendable to be business friendly but we don't want a business man as President. The Presidency of Nigeria is about national power, sovereignty, prestige, unity. You do the job of commander in chief well when you are not afraid of generals, when you are not corrupting them and when you make sure competent people are put in charge of the country's defence and security. Not generals who set deadlines and they are not met, or declare ceasefire and they are made to look like fools. Because of a lack of gravitas, integrity and seriousness, the President is destroying the image of his office and this is reflecting badly in the defence and security space. The defence and security credentials of Buhari threatens the Jonathan second term as much as his anti corruption credentials. There is no amount of chewing over details and dates and military a acquisitions that can help. What the President should do is come out with what he is going to do differently in defence and anti corruption war and let Nigerians judge. |
aare07:The north is uniting after the fake story that Buhari does not have certificates. It appears only half of the SE and SS will vote Jonathan this time around. We will see everything live in 39days. |
idumuose:He looks like he is faking not being left out. |
teufelein:So the point is you dint have the competence or knowledge to ask these questions. This guy rose to become a minister, a state governor, a head of state, a PTF head and three time presidential candidate. It is clear that he attended the best of Nigerian and US military and leadership trainings. It is being very disingenuous to carry rumours around now that he is not qualified. Jonathan has been attending meetings with this same guy at Council of State meetings and actually bestowed him a GCFR medal in him as former head f State. I know you guys are no more surprised at the mediocre Cluelessness of the man you support but I think you guys are beginning to depress the already low profile of his presidency when you bring this up four weeks to the elections. |
bistonsmith:The devil is the devil. That one is established it is the angel we are not sure of...but we have already defined him as an angel. So I think this argument is self defeating. If I am righting for freedom from hell any other thing is better than eternal fire and punishment. Jonathan already has $69billion debt bbm on our children's heads. We won't allow him to make it $138bn. |
Nigeria'$ division will never end if we dare to start it and will lead to mini wars within each region for decades. The Europeans and Chinese through their global corporations will pick us up one by one and we would be under a modern kind of colonialisation. All the drunken Niger Delta people and the demonic Boko Haram people looking to divide Nigeria are placing themselves under a big curse. Nigeria is God's vehicle for something special. |
Purej:I noticed this as well. The man was taking his ADC job too far. I actually like Jonathan's very good relationship with people working g under him. However his Cluelessness and corruption will destroy this country and we have to help him out of office. |
blemon44:Jonathan is stealing big time. The oil price has been high enough to turn Nigeria to a mini Dubai. He has had more money to play with than lots of leaders. He should stop comparing himself to military regimes who had oil takings of $19 to $35 a barrel at just about 1 million barrels per day. The military regimes were very bad but we're also forward looking enough to partner with Shell, Elf and Mobil to improve oil production to the 2.5 million barrels we are producing now. Most of the young people supporting GEJ are those who did not go to good schools or are just under the manipulation of tribalist propaganda and religion. The evils in the regime are visible enough to anybody who is open eyed enough to see them. |
dammytosh:That's is not all my brother. The same Okah was the one Dieziani called to lobby Jonathan to be made Petroleum Minister. Okay revealed incontrovertible evidence to the effect that he was a major power broker in the beginnings of Jonathan's new administration. So many items of information raconteur in his evidence at the trial in South Africa. |
