Thank you very much

Chocs:
Hello AdoChel

Congratulations on your admission.
The next step is to prepare for your visa application. I’ll advice you to apply online.

You’ll need your letter of acceptance, valid international passport, recent passport photographs, proof of fund (bank statement and other financial documents), client information (any other important doc you want to attach, like your bsc certificate and transcript, resume/cv, birth certificate, etc), you’ll need a CAQ if your Uni is in Quebec

You’ll receive a biometric request after you submit your application, then you can go to the centre and give your biometrics.

You can do your medical exam upfront (before or shortly after submitting your application) or you can wait for IRCC to send you a request to go and do it after you’ve submitted.

At the bottom of this page you’ll see numbers, those are page numbers for the thread. Click on 1 and start reading, read till the last page and when you’re done you’ll be totally prepared to apply. Once you read it, everything will be clear.

If you have any further questions, feel free to ask

Best wishes

It is, especially for those who already have their visas. Thank God. Safe travels smiley

Good news?

Okay. You have the right to your own views.

Others have the right to theirs. If people want to stay positive and be hopeful, inspite of all the 'very helpful' information you've shared, how does it concern you? Why are you so passionate about this?

Sigh.

America is dealing with pandemic, bad economy and job loss. You are talking shit about embassy opening. Lol.

No VISA for you till 2021. LOL. grin

You're welcome

greenskittles:
Thank you, really, I appreciate it. I'm also preparing my mind for an extreme/worst case scenario where I lose everything (God Forbid though). I don't see how I can possibly pay $36k/year for two years in tuition alone, not to talk of other expenses. In that case I'll just have to accept my fate and look for something else.
TravelRe: General USA Student Visa Enquiries-part 15 by AdoChel(f): 3:02pm On Jul 22, 2020
I totally get how you feel, being in the same shoes. But it's not the end of the world and it's not the end of life. Still pray and hope for the best. Cheer up. Everything will be fine.

P.s. If you sent the embassy the letter as an email attachment, they might not have read it. I don't think they open email attachments because of viral/malware attacks.

greenskittles:
This uncertainty is killing me! My supervisor said he was going to try to find a way to see if I can be paid my stipend, but the best scenario would be that I resume physically, obviously. He even wrote me a letter to give the embassy! Unfortunately, I got the same reply as Justochi. I don't know if I should keep holding on and hoping, or just basically tell him there's next to no hope of me coming. When I saw the news on the fp I almost prepared an email to tell him, but the screenshot of that tweet posted in this thread shows it's "fake news". I'm just so confused. And extremely tired.

Please do you know about any for women in medicine/medical fields?

Eniolakiite:
I wanted to share this..
If you’re a woman particularly planning to come to US for stem or tech related field, I want to advice that you plan to apply to Grace hopper celebration of women in Computing program, the scholarship is by anitab.org
It’s done annually.
I am part of their scholarship recipients for this year. There are many benefits of that program. I heard about it when I was still in Nigeria so I’m putting it out for others to know about it too.

Thank you

fairheart:
Yes sure! That new rule is still intact. You don't need to get a hard-copy of the i-20; once schools get the idea that have to state which teaching format they are adopting for fall 2020 on the i-20, they will certainly issue another i-20 to you. It can be done within 2-3 days, and you can use electronic copy to apply for your visa.
TravelRe: General USA Student Visa Enquiries-part 15 by AdoChel(f): 9:13am On Jul 07, 2020
Anyone?

AdoChel:
Okay

Can we still use form I-20s received by email?
TravelRe: General USA Student Visa Enquiries-part 15 by AdoChel(f): 4:30am On Jul 07, 2020
Okay

Can we still use form I-20s received by email?

fairheart:
Exactly! With this new rule, new i-20s will have to be issued to students whose schools will be having hybrid and in-person classes. Or else, no visa interview or even entry to the U.S. But it is too early to determine when a student should ask for the new i-20 since embassy is still closed. smiley
TravelRe: General USA Student Visa Enquiries-part 15 by AdoChel(f): 9:49pm On Jul 06, 2020
Thank you for sharing.

As regards item number 3; does this mean that students would have to receive new I-20s stating that they would be having in-person classes this fall?

Also, is the permission to use I-20s received by email still valid?

TrojanSnail:
If your school is entirely online, you won't be entering the US this fall

You had your interview? Lagos or Abuja? And how did you go about getting your appointment?
Geewin69:
Well, what I can say is, a lot of things are happening under-G.

I had my interview this afternoon. Preparing my transcript.
TravelRe: General USA Student Visa Enquiries-part 15 by AdoChel(f): 7:50pm On Jun 30, 2020
Hello everyone. Are US embassies in other countries holding F1 visa interviews or is the situation general? Are international students in other countries waiting as we are?
TravelRe: General USA Student Visa Enquiries-part 15 by AdoChel(f): 5:26pm On Jun 10, 2020
Thank you so much!
I will wait for Lagos as well.
Justochi:
You do not need to fill another DS160 to switch your appointment venue provided your DS160 is alright. I interacted with a Consular who told me that. Just choose Abuja on the schedule appointment page. As for me, I will wait for Lagos because there is plan to consider F1 visa applicants as priority whenever they commence. This information was contained in the e-mail I received from them when I made the inquiry.
Best.
TravelRe: General USA Student Visa Enquiries-part 15 by AdoChel(f): 6:01pm On Jun 09, 2020
I already submitted it. Would filling another ds160 render the former one null..?
Does anyone know when the embassy in Lagos would make appointment dates available? Wondering whether I should wait...

felixboye1:
I think you should fill another ds160 form if you are going to change to Abuja if you had already submitted your previous ds160. If you haven't submitted yet, just change the place to submit application to Abuja. Never mind if you chose Lagos when you started the application.
TravelRe: General USA Student Visa Enquiries-part 15 by AdoChel(f): 3:58pm On Jun 09, 2020
Is it possible to just switch or would one have to fill another ds160 form?
phizzle20:
Okay, thank you. I guess no date for Lagos at the moment. May be I will switch to Abuja then
TravelRe: General USA Student Visa Enquiries-part 15 by AdoChel(f): 3:53pm On Jun 09, 2020
felixboye1:
Yeah.
Next available date I picked is Nov 11. The Visa officer(during their Facebook Q&A session on US Embassy Nigeria) advised to apply and pick the November date and anytime they start routine Visa service, those ones that have pick those dates will be emailed to ask if they will like to move their dates backward. I think it's a wise advise cos they may decide to do that before opening for new Individuals.
TravelRe: General USA Student Visa Enquiries-part 15 by AdoChel(f): 11:22am On Jun 09, 2020
Oh cool,

Were you able to get a date?
felixboye1:
I made my payment yesterday with gtb app and it was stress-free. Within a minute or 2, you are done.

[qu weote author=AdoChel post=90456764]Hi everyone, hope you're doing fine.

Please has anyone been able to book a visa interview date of recent? Also, is it safe to pay the visa fee via the Gtbank app?

Thank you
