It's a complex sentence - conglomeration of a main clause and a subordinate clause. In order to analyse, you must recognize this subordination.
Thus, The main clause is *'The mother beats up her daughter'* while the subordinate clause is *'because she was drunk'*
The subordination is triggered by *'because'*. While examining the sentence, the 'because' may appear to be the one with the problem but *'she'* is the one creating the confusion. In TGG, there's what is known as the deep structure pronoun and the surface structure pronoun. Obviously, the 'she' is a surface structure pronoun because it's making reference to a noun behind it which is of course in the main clause. 'she' is an anaphoric pronoun which refers back to one of the two nouns earlier mentioned. This could either be 'the mother' or 'daughter'.
To determine the person drunk is based on our tree or sentence analysis. You can either consider the pronoun to make reference to the mother or the daughter. Any which way, your analysis will be correct as long as you don't misplace the position of the pronoun. To make it easier to detect, you may just change the gender case of any of the nouns.
E.g. The Father beats up his daughter because she was drunk.
OR
The mother beats up her son because she was drunk.

From the two modified sentences, you know who the pronoun should refer to.
