Hello Nigerian-Canadians, I am in a confusing situation, so I am hereby seeking opinions please.

I am presently working in IT and my profile screams TEECCCHHHH! As a matter of fact, all my education, certifications and major work experience are in STEM. However, I missed out on the last STEM draw because my point was not enough to get ITA, the next STEM draw would probably be in 3-5 months time, looking at the trend of the previous STEM draws, btw the cutoff would probably have gone even higher by then.

About 3 years ago, I trained/interned in a hospital part time, learnt CPR/First Aid/Patient care etc. just because I had the opportunity and I thought it'd be useful since I was about leaving for Canada then, and it's one of the most available jobs in Canada. Long story short, I reached out to the hospital recently and they are ready to give me a reference letter but I am concerned about my Tech profile and if this won't raise two eyebrows?? Funny enough, I ended up using the training/certification in Canada cuz the first job I got as a student was as a Health support aide (but it doesn't count as work experience in EE)

Also, during my study permit application, I didn't mention this experience because It was ongoing then and I was applying for a Tech program so I felt it doesn't even align with my profile, btw, it was just for some months. At this point, I am thinking of getting the reference letter and adding a LOE, explaining this whole situation in my application or it doesn't matter?

Suggestions please!!! embarassed

hi guys, good morning

please i want to ask, can i edit my ee profile as much as possible because i realised i made some mistakes in the job history

also, i wan to ask, for the healthcare route, i am aware that it is 6month in the last 3 years job experience you have to prove, but i want to ask, someone who has 2years in 3years experience, and someone that has just 6month in 3years experience, is it same point, or the person that has 2years will have point than the person with just 6months?

Even though 6 months in the past 3 years is what is required to be eligible for CBDs, you still have to meet the minimum entry requirement for EE-FSW/CEC/FST to be able to create an EE profile, which is 1year work experience. So in your example, someone with 3years experience (say 6 months in healthcare + 2years 6months in another eligible NOC) and someone with 3years exp (2years in healthcare + 1year in another eligible NOC) will both be invited through CBDs and will get the same maximum points for 3 years or more work experience in the FSW stream. However, someone with only 6 months of work experience in healthcare won't be eligible to start with, since you have to be eligible for FSW first before the CBDs criteria will be considered.

This is lovely. You should be my person hahaha. I have driven Ontario to Manitoba via Trans Canada but I returned via US. You should try the US route too.

Speed limit is higher in US and roads are straight, wide and better. That 90km/ 1 lane road in northern Ontario is frustrating. It sounds like the roads from Manitoba to BC are better since they have higher speed limit? I would also love to see your videos. Good one πŸ™Œ

Thanks a lot man! I heard exactly the same about the US freeways but I intentionally avoided going through US cuz I feel it isn't as safe as Canada. I'm so confident to safely navigate anywhere in Canada (even the reserves) but I can't say the same about US, especially with the fact that I wasn't planning to lodge in the hotel, I was sleeping in the car at campsites with RV travellers and truck drivers. On the return trip, might consider it since I won't be in a rush and would lodge.

Yeah, Manitoba to BC is dualized so higher limit with more lanes. But at the far end of Vancouver, I drove my car into a ferry that transported me to the island I am on right now, then the TCH continued there and turned back to a single lane with 90km/hr. No problem! Thanks

Interesting, what type of vehicle? Highest speed? Single or you had company? How was the traffic? Did you have any mechanical fault?

Hyundai SUV. The routes have different speed limits, it's mostly 90km/h in Northern Ontario; did 90-110km there depending on the traffic/road condition. On the Prairies, it was 100-120km but I did 120-140km. My highest speed was 150km/h at night in different locations.

I passed through the Trans Canada Highway so no traffic apart from Winnipeg, Calgary, Vancouver and some construction zones too around Ontario/Manitoba border. No mechanical faults at all, My car coolant level didn't even drop 1cm not to talk of mech fault. Btw, I camped in the car throughout the trip (sunny, rainy and snowy) converted the back/trunk into a bed and used my duvet 😁

Wow. You must be a strong willed person to do it when it was almost winter. Done some stretch of that road late summer and it was blissful.

The best part of that drive is the Northern Ontario end and BC Mountains. It's fun but also crazily scary especially at dusk and dawn with all those crazy Moose in Northern Ontario and the windy, steep and curvy roads. Hundreds of beautiful lakes around these area.

Sas,MB and Alberta are just wastelands. grin You would almost sleep off on the steering wheel once you enter Manitoba. Just straight road with nothing left and right.

Your best bet to capture videos would have been Dashcams. Well done. Not easy. 5km in 3 days is crazy.

Thanks man! You described the route exactly as it is, no doubts you're familiar with the road. I thought the Northern Ontario end was dangerous until I left Banff, Alberta and entered BC. I was actually scared at some point, the roads were so dangerous, curvy and slopy that there are tens of brake checks for trucks/trailers on the route to check and certify their brakes okay before they attempt to ascend/descend each slope.

As far as beautiful lakes are concerned, I give it up to Northern Ontario, I lost count and it became normal as I pass through each lake. On a side note, the number of lakes in Canada alone (thousands) is more than the rest of the world combined. I didn't see a Moose throughout the trip but I saw Deers, Elk, Wolves and a Bear (we were like 20 feet away from each other, in the midnight around 3a.m - my mind cut πŸ˜‚)

Like you said, the Prairies are just plain lands, I did cruise control mostly on this part and i enjoyed the view of the frozen lakes left and right. Thanks to an Albertan woman too, she was speeding, so we sped together from Sask until we parted at Med Hat. I covered a lot of distance faster cuz of her.

Yeah. Dash cam is the way to go!!! I'd probably install one soon cuz lots of travels to do still. Thank you!

oh this sounds very interesting!! alone?!

Why did you do it so quickly though? I'm thinking going slower will give you more time to enjoy the sights

Trust me, it was interesting but would have been more fun if it was done with family or friends. Did it all alone.

Yeah, going slower would make me enjoy the sight and have more fun but I moved because of work (a project) and it was going to start in less than a week, having wasted enough time in Ontario, I had to push my gas... I'll be doing the return trip in a few months, I'd do that at a much slower pace πŸ˜„

It's very funny how the temperature keeps dropping as I move from East to West, and it suddenly went up immediately I entered BC. It was -5Β°C in Brandon,MB and -15Β°C in Moose Jaw (3rd Pic) Saskatchewan was iced up, Medicine Hat and Calgary were in between then immediately I entered Golden, BC the temperature became normal, about 8Β°C. Thanks to the mountains!!! I literally experienced and understood firsthand, why most parts of BC has the warmest weather in Canada.

About 2 months ago, I embarked on the longest road trip in my life, it was a Solo trip (Alone!). I drove from Eastern Canada to the West Coast via the Trans Canada Highway. This trip is over 5000km and it's 3days if you drive nonstop (takes a week with normal driving), this is about the distance from Nigeria to U.K, the amazing part.? I did it in 3 days - fastest ever possible!!!

On one of those days, I drove for over 15hours in the 24hours I had to myself. The Mind-blowing part is, I was physically present in 4 provinces in a single day (Manitoba > Saskatchewan > Alberta > British Columbia) and I changed timezones three times on that day while driving. I learnt a lot on this trip, I saw the vastness of this amazing country and I realized I'm actually tougher than I used to think.

I had an encounter with a Black bear on the 3rd day. Too many gist, too many videos, too many pics, It's overwhelming! The trip is daring and dangerous especially for a lone driver and it feels endless. Would I do it again? Most likely!

From my understanding, the CAC doc is just to show evidence of business ownership. Also most CAC docs are broad ranging, covering many things...so long as you are not claiming to have engaged in an activity outside what is listed on the CAC, then nothing do you... carry go.

AFAIK, it's the ref letters from clients that your NOC will be matched to, so if you have these, no issues...remember that self declared JD/ref letter is not allowed.

More on self employed docs here: https://www.nairaland.com/6081746/canadian-express-entry-federal-skilled/567#101886861

Thanks a lot, I really appreciate that. You just toggled my motivation switch to ON 😁😁

For PNPs that are Express Entry related (e.g. BC Immigration streams that have the EEBC option), my assumption was that the NOC that got you the nomination had to be the same as the primary NOC on your Express Entry profile.......I could be wrong.

https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/corporate/publications-manuals/operational-bulletins-manuals/permanent-residence/express-entry/provincial-nominee-program.html extract Officers must assess the application based on the NOC code listed on the confirmation of nomination Check on canada.visa for other views too.

If you have 1 year minimum WE on 22221, the easiest thing would be to change your primary NOC to 22221. 60020 would still be listed under WE and make up part of the 3 years minimum, it just wouldn't be the primary.

Awesome!!! Thanks a lot for your input πŸ™. I've tried searching on it too but no much info out there. I'd just assume it has to be the same NOC on both sides, to be safe.

Regarding your smart suggestion, i thought of the same, which brings me to one more question please. Let's say I was doing I.T Support the first year (NOC 22221- Nature of Business 1,2, and 4 in the screenshot) while the last 2 years was used for sales of Computer + Accessories (NOC 60020- Nature of Business 3 and 5). Is using this single CAC certificate to proof the 2 different NOCs not going to be an issue since different nature of business is stated there? Other accompanying docs for each NOC will be provided as well.

Hello everyone, I hope you are all fine. Been a while here.

I have a question please, It's quite complicated but I'II simplify it AMAP. I recently got a BCPNP invitation for the International Graduate Stream, the main requirement is to have a Job Offer in Tech, which I have already.

Presently working in the company and the NOC is 22221 (User Support Tech). On the other hand, my primary NOC in my Express Entry profile is 60020 (Retail and Wholesale Manager) because I was self-employed and managed a business in Nigeria. Is it going to be an issue if I have NOC 22221 on my nomination certificate while my EE primary NOC is 60020 during my PR application?

What are your thoughts please.?

Hi everyone,

I had my first attempt at IELTS on the 23rd of September with British council. My result came out today:

L- 9
R- 8
W- 7
S- 8

I need a 7.5 in writing to max out for express entry. Do you advice I remark writing?

2. What are the chances that it'll come back with a higher score?

3. Can it also come back with a lower score?

4. Is it better to retake the exam?

Please assist

It's advisable to remark it, if you got 7 at the first attempt, there's a 50.01/49.99 chance of it being pushed to 7.5. However, it can NEVER come back lower, the worst case scenario is your score remaining unchanged and you'd lose your remark fee. Finally, considering your situation, retaking it is a No No. All the best!

Hi everyone. Please I received an invitation to apply with invitation code from an employer via my job bank account. Does anyone have a idea what that means and what next to do?

It means you should apply for the job by following the instructions on the job listing, also remember to include the invitation code to inform the employer that you were matched to the job by them. However, this is just a normal job bank procedure, the invitation code doesn't guarantee they'll give you the job.

Hello guys.

Please, concerning educational history in the Express Entry profile, I hope it is not an issue if I input a resumption date for my degree different from what I inputted for another country Canada shares immigration data with? In the first application with that other country I had inputted January 2011, but it just occurred to me that the resumption of a new session is normally in September in my alma mater. Given that I have always gotten the year correctly, I hope it is not an issue if I can't say the specific month I started acadademic activities in the university? I inted to switch from January to September in my EE profile. I hope that won't be an issue in the event that Canada decides to confirm my details with the other country as the mismatch has no effect at all on my eligibility and CRS points.

Would appreciate your thoughts on the issue.

It's good that you're bothered about this. It shows you're putting your mind in the process.

Back to the topic, you don't have any issue. I've also done the same in several different applications, it's hard to keep track of when you actually started/ finish your degree as a Nigerian due to the fact that strike will push n pull the dates around and your finish date is even different from when your certificate is issued, might be months or even years apart.

In my opinion, he can't write you an employment reference letter but he can write a letter that shows you both run a biz partnership together, stating your roles, responsibilities, contributions etc However, his document shouldn't be the only one you'll use, ensure you get reference letters from suppliers, clients etc His own is just to support/solidify your application

What I have in my account doesn't determine if I'm broke or not.

As a matter of fact, being a business person, I'm wealthier when I don't have money in my account (It means I've put all my money into use, with fat returns coming) while I'm broke when I have so much in my account (it means I'm not expecting anything cuz my money is sitting idle and not in use).

Nairaland is not from IRCC, still people use it for the information. They're people already in Canada that went thru the whole PR application process that don't even know nairaland exist. Don't let "over-sabi" make you stop people from accessing information from anywhere they choose to get it from.

The post on the forum blog I shared earlier contain steps to use the CRS tool and consequences of misrepresentation answering the questionnaire. The same link you shared is included as well with all indication that it's the sole tool needed to evaluate CRS score.

Don't think you open the link before you came in with your response. You're a typical Nigerian with "every Nigerian is a fraud" mentality.

Nairaland had its own little beginning just like this LandingGist forum. We all developed nairaland to make it what it's today.

Quit the hate, bruh!

You're a typical case of "Omo Elefo" in yoruba. When called upon, the so-called omo elefo replied with - "Efo mi o ki n se tori akitan ooh". So I'm hating on you because you're the founder of Facebook or because you're Sean Fraser? Imagine wasting the extremely minimal hatred i have on someone that doesn't matter, Waste of hate!

To start with, I replied someone who directly mentioned me with exactly what they asked for. So why are you crying and weeping all over the page? Them collect your biscuit.?

If everybody here was replying people's request with a link to their websites, Youtube channels etc how do you think this thread will look like.? To make it worse, you've not contributed any reasonable thing to this thread since it's inception, how many requests have you answered here without adding a link? 90% of your post has a link on it, that is to say, if you don't have any opportunity to advertise your link, you won't reply anyone.

Yet, you're shouting hate up and down, who loves the OP between you and I.? Someone who gives him exactly what he needed or someone who gave what he doesn't need for their selfish reasons.?

Good evening sir/ma

For those who have written IELTS (IDP), I can see that during the registration, the date for speaking isn't normally shown. How/when do I know/see when the speaking test will be scheduled?

Or for IELTS (IDP), will all the four components be written the same day?

Please I need answers from those who have written this exam with IDP....

Thanks.

The date for your speaking will be conveyed to you via your registered email address before you write the other components. Most of the time, speaking is taken on a different date, usually after taking the others. Just lookout for a mail from them with all the details.
