EweduAfonja:I am ashamed on your behalf if truly you are Yoruba lady or guy. Have you forgotten that Ibadan is the fourth most populous state in Nigeria, after Kano, Lagos and Kaduna. What do you those roughly 7 million people do for living, teaching? For your education, there is hardly any major industry in Lagos or Abuja that does not have a branch or headquarters in Ibadan... Autopsy says electrician found dead in a pharmacy electrocuted Contrary to the earlier murder allegation made by the family of a 33 years old electrician, Idris Lasisi who was found dead in the attic of a pharmacy on Abraham Adesanya Low Cost Housing Estate, Ajah, Lagos State, a post mortem carried out on him has stated that the decease died of asphyxia and electrocution. The report of the test dated 18 December, 2017 and signed by Dr O.O. Kila of the Department of Pathology and Forensic Medicine, Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, Ikeja, which was signed and stamped by the Ogombo Divisional Police Officer, was sent to our correspondent by the elder brother of the decease, Abdul-Rahaman Lasisi. The elder brother explained that the family has accepted the autopsy report in good faith, stressing that they have accepted the death as an act of God. “The relationship between the decease and the owner of the pharmacy, Adebayo Afon is close to eight years and throughout the relationship, we have never had any reason to suspect him of any ulterior motive, so we have accepted what happened as an act of God and we have resolved not to press further charges against him.” According to him, the father of one will be buried as soon as possible, adding that the owner of the pharmacy has promised to render financial assistance to the decease pregnant wife and aged mother. Phone calls put across to the Divisional Police Officer, Ogombo Division were returned unanswered, but it was gathered as confirmed by the decease elder brother, Abdul Ramon Lasisi that the police had already cleared the owner of the pharmacy, Adebayo Afon, of any wrongdoing. Also, the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Chike Oti, said the case had been resolved. “The doctor said the man died of electrocution, the family are aware of the autopsy report and they are now sure that there was no foul play,” he added. Recalling what led to the incident, the owner of the pharmacy, Adebayo Afon said he invited the late electrician whom he had known for more than eight years to fix an electrical fault at the store where the incident happened on Friday, 8, but he did not come until Saturday, 9. “On Saturday, he came and went to the attic, but workers at the store did not see him come down. They looked around for him and called me when they did not see him. So I told them to check him in the attic. The two workers are a woman and a man with disability on one hand. They could not climb up. His car was outside and he had a flat tyre, so, they thought he was running around to fix the tyre. “When they wanted to close, they called me again, saying they had not seen the man and that the electrical fault had not been fixed, I told them to look for another electrician to go up and check if the man was there. The electrician went up, used a torch to look around, but said he did not see anybody. The store was closed afterwards.” He added that the shop opened the next day being Sunday for operations and closed after few hours without the workers noticing any strange occurrence. “But by Monday when they wanted to open the shop, they noticed liquid dripping from the ceiling and strange odour, they called me and I reported at the Ogombo Police Station myself. That was exactly what happened Also speaking, one Mr. Dayo, a resident in the estate said he had known the pharmacy and the owner for years and has no reason to doubt his integrity, adding that what happened was just an accident. “The pharmacy has been with us for years and we have always enjoyed partronising them, so the incident was an act of God, though quite unfortunate and now that the autopsy has debunked the murder allegation made against the owner, we are happy he is vindicated.”

Revealed: How Pharmacist Reenacted Judas Iscariot, Allegedly Kidnapped His Boss Donatus DuruEmeka EgbulughaKidnappingMaydon Pharmaceuticals The story of Pharm. Emeka Egbulugha, the Superintendent Pharmacist, of Maydon Pharmaceuticals aptly played out the famous biblical account of how Judas Iscariot, a disciple of Jesus Christ betrayed his master to the enemies for thirty pieces of silver. When the news of the kidnap of Mr. Donatus Duru, managing director of Maydon Pharmaceuticals broke on February 14, 2017, no one initially had clues to his whereabouts not even his family members, until the abductors contacted them, and demanded for a ransom of one million Euro (N500 million) for his release. Pharm Emeka Egbulugha As the days were turning to weeks and weeks became months with the kidnappers not ready to let go of their victim, the relatives of Duru , made part payment of the ransom, amounting to about N150 million according to reports, upon which they failed to release him. Little did anyone knew that Egbulugha, a native of Oguta, in Imo State, who was in the employ of Duru, until his arrest by the police could be allegedly involved in such criminal act, as the victim narrated his ordeal in the hands of the terrible kidnap gang and how he had heard the voice of his employee, at different times discussing with his abductors while in their net. According to police source, “the victim said that a few days after he was abducted, he over heard the voice of a pharmacist, Emeka, who has been under his employ for long, discussing with his abductors in an adjoining room. He said he heard him asking members of the gang keeping watch over him whether they had contacted members of his family”. “A few days before his escape, the victim said Emeka came and re-assured them that he had signed all the documents for the release of goods worth about N7 million from his warehouse and also came the next Thursday to boldly question why they had not killed him as agreed.“He reportedly left after he was assured that they would carry out the killing by next Friday. At this stage, the victim said he gave up hope of freedom. “However, early in the morning preceding the Friday, he was able to unchain himself while his captors were deeply asleep with their guns and escaped through the back door, landing at the next compound, where a security guard jumped at him and branded him a thief. He said that after narrating his story to the guard, he told him to wait but he did not see him again after waiting for a long time.” Although he almost ran out of luck by failing into the hands of passersby who misconstrued him for a thief, but after some explanations, they assisted him to the Igando police station. When Pharmanewsonline.com pulled a call through to Mrs Lilian Duru, the wife of the victim, she acknowledged that Egbulugha had worked for over two years with the company, but that he seldom attended the morning prayers made for her husband’s release all through the time he was in kidnappers’ den, as the pharmacist often resume late to work. Mrs Duru, who admitted that the family paid a huge ransom to the abductors, said she wasn’t sure of the exact amount paid, but that it was not in naira. She was however indeed grateful to God for the double blessings she has just experienced- her husband’s miraculous escape and the discharge of her son who had been hospitalised for about a week over an illness. The visit of Pharmanewsonline.com to the pharmaceutical company at Ilupeju, Surulere, Lagos, yielded further revelations into the story, as some senior colleagues of Egbulugha opened up on how he has been unnecessarily generous to some ladies in the company. His colleagues who spoke to us in confident, said they had been doubting his sources of income for a while, as he was fond of doling out money to every Dick, Tom, and Harry, who cares to ask him for lunch, whereas they could not afford such charitable gestures, even with their salaries higher than his. Since pharmacists are known to be men of honour, it was imperative for us to investigate the authenticity of Emeka’s claim of being a pharmacist. When the Registrar of the Pharmacists Council of Nigeria (PCN) Pharm. Elijah Mohammed was contacted for the verification of Emeka as a pharmacist, his answer was in the affirmative, but was disappointed at his alleged involvement in the present case of his boss. “It is unfortunate he is allegedly involved in such act, but before now, we have never heard any negative report about him”, he remarked http://www.pharmanewsonline.com/revealed-how-pharmacist-reenacted-judas-iscariot-allegedly-kidnapped-his-boss/ |
I didn’t reject title from Olubadan, says Tinubu Former Lagos State Governor and chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has given a lie to speculation in some quarters that he rejected a chieftaincy title from the Olubadan of Ibadan, Oba Saliu Adetunji, Ajeogungunniso I. A report in the gossip column of a national newspaper had claimed that Tinubu turned down the conferment of the chieftaincy title of Balogun on him by Oba Adetunji. In a statement released on Monday by the Tinubu Media Office, the former Lagos State Governor said he holds the Olubadan of Ibadan in very high esteem and could not have rejected a chieftaincy offer from him. He said in the statement: “The Olubadan of Ibadan, Oba Saliu Adetunji, is one traditional ruler I have tremendous respect for. I was there in Ibadan last year for his installation. “I hold him in high esteem. Governor Abiola Ajimobi also has respect for him. Why I would I reject the offer of a chieftaincy title from him?” www.theeagleonline.com.ng |

Royal rumble in Osun: Monarch asks court to sack Oluwo of Iwo An Osun State Magistrate Court in Osogbo has asked the Oluwo of Iwo, a first class traditional ruler, Oba Abdulrasheed Akanbi to appear before him to defend himself over allegations of criminalities brought against him by another monarch, the Oluwo of Iwo-Oke, Oba Kadiri Adeoye. At the court sitting on Friday, November 25, 2016, the Chief Magistrate, Mr. Emmanuel Akano rejected the apology tendered by Oba Akanbi’s counsel, Barrister A.B Quadry for his non-appearance before the court, saying as a first class traditional ruler in the state, he was engaged in other important assignment. Magistrate Akano stated that the status of the defendant has not made him to be above the law of the land while directing the Oba Akanbi to appear before him on the day of the next sitting fixed for Friday, December 2, 2016. Oba Adeoye had gone to court with series of criminal allegations against the Oluwo of Iwo and asked the court to remove him as the traditional ruler, while noting that “as a member of Iwo Traditional Council” he owed it a duty to inform the court of the information he had about Oba Akanbi. According to the Oluwo-Oke, Oba Akanbi had displayed characters that did not befit a person of his status and calibre “as he is used to carrying armed thugs, miscreants and hoodlums around to harass, intimidate, molest and attacked persons whom he perceived as his enemies”. Oba Adeoye stated that he was a victim of the Oluwo of Iwo’s intimidation when he allegedly used thugs to attack him at his shopping complex in Iwo and connived with the police to stop him from free movement in Iwo-land and from attending the presentation of staffs of office to two traditional rulers in his domain. He further alleged in a 33-page affidavit in support of his claims that the Oba Akanbi was “an ex-convict who does not deserve the post that he is presently occupying. “That I know as a matter of fact that when he was about to travel out of the country sometimes late 1990’s, he disowned his father and started using the name Adeonigbagbe as his father’s name. “That he used the said Adeonigbagbe as his surname to travel to the United States of America where he resided at New York City and that he was later arrested for an offence which bothered on dishonesty and was detained for seven months before his deportation back to Nigeria in 2000”. He added that Oba Akanbi later travelled out with his real name to Canada in 2001 and became a Canadian citizen but was also arrested in Toronto and was in jail between 2006 and 2007, saying these facts were concealed for the state government which appointed and installed him as the Oluwo of Iwo. He also accused him of presently making money through the internet fraud otherwise known as “Yahoo Yahoo” and was using his palace as a cover-up. But reacting to these allegations in a-nine page affidavit on behalf of Oba Akanbi, the Aremo of Iwo land, Chief Adelani Akanbi described the application filed against the Oluwo of Iwo by Oba Adeoye as “scandalous, vexations and designed to embarrass, blackmail and ridicule the monarch in the view of right thinking members of the society”. He further noted that by virtue of his position, there was no person, be it traditional or honourary that is referred to the Oluwo of Iwo-Oke. However, Oba Akanbi’s counsel has asked the court to disqualify itself from hearing the case as it lacked jurisdiction to entertain the suit and that the applicant lacked the locus to file the application against his client. |
