You don’t get it. I was training last year and stopped. This walk happened like 2 weeks ago. It’s understandable because I haven’t walked a combined total of that 3km in 3 months or more because I rarely walk.

I weighed myself and realized I weigh 8.5kg more now.

Ohh ok. I get now.

But that should not make you stop completely. You just need to start back slowly and not go that hard especially in the beginning.
These things are good for cardiovascular health. It is not just for show and they have health benefits even though they don’t grant eternal life like some people want.

What I am saying is that someone who is fit enough to be playing high intensity Futsal should not have a problem walking 3km.

In 1hr of high intensity Futsal one will run between 7km to 10km at varying high intensity and experiencing more physical stress on joints, balance, and more demands on fitness, stamina, agility. How can you do that and then start having problems merely walking 3km?

When I was training last year in a highly intense 5 a side, I had no issues and barely got tired. I only noticed the sharp difference when we went to a started pitch and I was tasked to do the most energy consuming task on the pitch. Wingers and full backs do the most sprints and likely to burn out without peak fitness.

Ibeme should try a full pitch and play as a winger let’s see or he can continue feeling like Kante as a midfielder while moving like old Mousa Dembele.

Yeah there are differences between Futsal endurance and standard pitch football endurance.

What I am wondering though is how a high intensity Futsal pro like you nearly passed out after walking a mere 3km. The computation is not computing. 😁

Sometimes we have to accept that our body isn’t what it used to be and that’s fine.

Last year, I started training by playing football in all these 5 a side grass pitch that people construct these days. I played for one week and by next week we decided to play a proper football match.

Despite thinking I have reached peak fitness, I nearly passed out because I was tasked to attack opposition full back and also defend against him. Our defence and midfield were shabby and couldn’t string reasonable passes together so I spent move of the 35 minutes I managed to play running around.

I genuinely could have fainted and had to retire for good after that match.

So we can’t cheat nature and certainly we don’t have same body of physically conditioning of another person in similar age bracket.

Hehe. So you gave up permanently cos you messed up your training. Who attains peak fitness after 1 week.

You need to go back and start all over again but this time you should aim for full fitness after 3 months.


You are the one that messed up by rushing the process instead of doing slow and steady wins the race.

If you are not trying to lose weight, what could possibly motivate you to walk 3km.

It’s like fitness na problem for Naija o. You are still young and see how you are hyping 3km like say na marathon.

You walk, run, swim etc not only to lose weight but to maintain and improve your cardiovascular health.

You start small and start slow and over months you slowly increase distance and intensity.

I am simply judging from how I felt when I tried walking 3km and I am nothing close to obese. When I got home, my whole body ached and my heart beat increased.

Obese people struggle with any form of physical activity and I wonder how rapid their breathing will become if they tried that.

I manage patients with these issues on a daily basis. People whose obesity starts where Nigerian obesity finishes. And they do 10k steps.

You don’t start with 10k on the first day. You build up to it over months.

The main issue apart from musculoskeletal strains and potential stress fracture would be where to get the space for walking in a Nigerian neighbourhood without exposing oneself to okada madness.

Your case is not strange. You are just unfit and need to improve your fitness. 3km should be chicken change at your age. I did 10km this weekend just by walking round the city centre and to the botanical gardens.

Obesity is dangerous and advising her to walk 10k steps will expose her to heart failure. Not assisting with small bills of edibles is less forgiving than leaving someone exposed to death because you think obesity isn’t way more dangerous than not having what to eat.

10,000 steps will not lead to heart failure just cause she is obese. It is actually good advice a d a way to improve her cardiovascular health.

The main caveat is that because she is not fit she can’t start at 10k steps but build up over a few months from around 2k steps daily to 10k steps.

The major concerns if she rushes to 10k steps are musculoskeletal injuries and not heart failure.

Both can be correct. For our population we are not as productive as many other countries.

We rank relatively high in total GDP and total production but when you factor in our population and calculate things per capita, whether GDP, GNI or use HDI you will see that we rank quite low.

And a poor man can still be wasteful. I have seen gatemen and typists who waste their little salary on olosho and drinking while their children are being sent out of school for not paying school fees.

We are relatively poor but things would not have been this bad if our leaders were not criminally corrupt. Another thing I would agree with is that with better leadership we would have developed our productivity and wealth over the past decades. So the leadership is in a big way contributing to the perpetuation of poverty. The countries that are wealthy do not have 2 heads.

The coastal road was always a white elephant project. It is unfortunate that a country under financial stress is still indulging in mismanagement to such a scale.

Very very brilliant. His investment makes so much sense because going forward, most of his fellow actors will have no choice but to patronize his business at one stage or the other in their film production business.

Even if they shoot an epic movie in some remote village, they will need to post production in a studio which he has available with state of the art equipment. If they take their movies to cinemas, he will get a bite because he owns a cinema that has two modern cinema rooms. If they want to record soundtrack for movies, he has a music studio to serve their purpose.

The guy really has a very good head on his shoulder. I guess he spent the money he made from serving as special assistant back then, the money he made from multiple brand ambassador deals and the one he made from film making in a very wise way.

It is a high risk venture. I wish him well and hope he does not fall victim to enemies within and without.

My uncle married a Yoruba woman and she's always welcomed any time she visits, in fact, the Yoruba-speaking Igbo women gel with her seamlessly. My friend also married a Yoruba guy. But why I feel it's common with Igbos (especially those from Delta and Imo) is because they go to Lagos and forget home. That's the reason you'll see some children not knowing their roots from inception till death. I know a friend, Chibuike, who can speak Yoruba better than most Yorubas, he even gave himself the name "Temi". He doesn't know the route to his village, which is another reason he'll be comfortable marrying a Yoruba girl.


Life is not like mathematics... many factors add up.
