Re: Midfielders with bad first touches and limited passing range. What if it is this Ederson that proves you wrong? 😀
I am hoping he proves me wrong. It is me that will suffer as a fan if we sign players that are not up to standard.

There are some basic principles of midfield play. Good 1st touch, ability to receive the ball on the half turn.

If you see a midfielder whose clips are mainly of him running though the opposition and his touch appears a bit loose the chances are that he will struggle in the EPL.

Yes we need improvement.Ederson is done deal.We need Fernandes badly.l dnt like Tonali because of his personal struggles.lt will always v a way of affecting his games.l think Anderson will end up at united. The lure of city is primarily due to pep being coach.
Yeah I would be happy with Anderson and Mateus Fernandes.

I hope Ederson succeeds here but I would have been happier with a more technically sound player.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by afrodoc(m): 9:29am On May 28
I have always questioned the Ederson move. The time and space he has in Serie A won’t be available in the EPL.

There is a reason first touch terrorists like McTom and Rasmus look good in the Serie A. Even Ederson’s physical advantages that shine in the Serie A won’t be that obvious in the EPL.

Really hate doing business with Barca. They’re a terrible club. And we often allow ourselves to play into their hands. The De Jong saga is still clear in my mind.
2 ways to prevent this is to stop giving ridiculous contracts and to start winning titles.

That is how they Brighton put 80m tag on baleba!!! I don’t know why premier league teams are like this
Brighton played themselves. They actually wanted 100m for Baleba. They would be lucky to get half of that now.

West Ham are a relegated side. They bought him for 40m pounds and he still has 4 years on his contract so somewhere between 45m and 55m is still reasonable

Why you wipe the story
That was so long ago I can barely remember.

I think it was a short story about the life of a fighter pilot during the 2nd World War and how he spent most of his days in the cockpit of a Spitfire plane, hence the name cocksman.

Very touching story.

Against someone holding an AK?

I no sabi about arms sha
Pump action is manual and its rate of fire is slower. It is probably more accurate though and has a longer range.

If you are hunting pump action is a good weapon to have.

In a combat zone though where the prey is firing back at you, rate of fire and reload capacity are overwhelmingly important. AK47 wins here.

A guy with pump action facing a guy with AK47 will feel like he is facing 5 men.

Trained terrorists with AK47s and probably more won’t be scared by pump action rifles though it might make them act with slightly less impunity.

That’s true.

Maniche was one of my favourite midfielders.

While not a midfielder, I also remember Abel Xavier wey we dey call ' cocaine' for street that year. Simão Sabrosa was also another baller back in the day
There was this black midfielder they had who played with Eusebio called Mario Coluna who was a serious chairman.
Only CR7, Eusebio, and maybe Figo are above him.

Something in their football culture creates the environment for midfielders to thrive.

Bin the lot of them. Even in a vacuum their squad is rubbish but in a more specific sense they don’t have what we need (CM, CF, LW, LB).

assuming the comic situation happens and Spurs go down, is there any player you'd fancy from their side for cheap?
Nobody.

Maybe Udogie of 2 years ago.

We need CMs that can come and improve us now. Bergvall and Gray have potential but are still too young. The rest are ass.

Their RB is a Dalot.

We need a CF to compete with Sesko and their strikers do not score goals.

If we play Dorgu as a LB and want someone pacy and direct to compete with Cunha they have no LWF.

Their flashy CBs are majorly culpable for their troubles due to a combination of fitness problems, red cards, bone headed decision making.

I heard €45m.
£50m is a stretch for someone with a year left and wants out. I think it's media horseshit as usual.
for me, if the player's very athletic (it's the EPL after all) and uses the ball reasonably well I'm open to giving a fair chance.
far less talented teams with very tenacious/physical players give us headaches. Newcastle and Fulham are very good examples.
we need to cancel that disadvantage this window, especially through the middle.
Yeah any player we buy must pass the athleticism test but he must also pass the 1st touch and technique test.

Exactly, the fact that he has only 1yr left on his contract and coming from a small Serie A club means he should not go for more than £35-40m so if it’s €45m it’s not that bad as a fee as long as the player is fit for purpose. He is an 8 not a 6 so if we get him we have to buy a starting 6 and a rotation 6 as well.

* I prefer EPL proven Mateus Fernandes to him. He won’t cost too much if West Ham get relegated. I will watch more clips and analyses of Ederson.

Nuno Gomes was decent for a while.

I agree that Portugal have a serious deficiency at CF positions. If only that lad Aghahowa was born on the other side of the Iberian peninsula.

Well, God no dey do ojoro. He con overstock them with World Class midfielders to compensate.

Elite level: Bruno, Vitinha, Joao Neves, Bernardo
Very good: Nunes, Ruben Neves

Edit: I even forgot to add Matheus Fernandes who is another midfielder with potential to break into that Elite Cadre. Seems all Portuguese Couples do conception in the middle of the bed
They always produce midfielders. Their golden generation was built on midfield play (Luis Figo, Rui Costa, Joao Pinto, Paulo Sousa) and struggled until Pauleta, Nuno Gomes and at the tail end CR7 joined the party.

he's certainly better than Ugarte all round. at least he has an idea what to do when in possession. for the quoted fee, it is little risk considering we will need at least two more around that position and it strengthens the club's position going to negotiate other midfield targets with respect to price.
hopefully we recoup something tangible from Ugarte's move.
Like I have said I have not really seen him play but better than Ugarte is not good enough reason to buy a player. That is how we got to the point of moving 1 step forward and 1 step backward.

If you tell me that he is good enough in his own right to play and contribute well towards Man Utd winning the league, that’s a different matter. There are many players better than Ugarte that are still not Man Utd quality.

I am hearing 45-50m pounds. Unless INEOS are going to splurge this season 50m pounds is not a little risk.

Meanwhile Ederson's potential signing keeps getting hotter.
I have only seen clips of that guy but on first principles I don’t want us to sign a CM for Serie A. Unless he is coming for small money as a rotation player and not one of the 2 main CM additions we need for next season.

ETH tried it with Martinez at Ajax. He was horrible. Maybe donut midfield was to blame but Martinez is not mobile enough to play in the midfield.
It is even a strange comparison.

That it worked for Lindelof does not mean that it will work for Martinez.

That it worked for Lindelof against an indomie league club does not mean it will work week in week out in the EPL.

Instead of trying to refashion players we should buy the best players possible in their natural positions.

Biden spend almost 50yrs in Senate, Now we have McConel, Pelosi, Grassley Schumer who have been in the Senate before many here were born.
I remember Strom Thurmond that was there for nearly 50 years. He finally left at 100yrs of age and died a few months later.
He too was governor before moving to the senate.

So the gist on Twitter is that the Lady in contest with Desmond for APC ticket on Surulere was one of the aspirants that were asked to step down for Desmond in 2022.

She stepped down for him and went ahead to campaign for his relection in 2023.

The picture below is Desmond hugging her to thank her for how she carried his re-election on her head back then. I guess this explains why she said in one of her videos that she expected Desmond to step down for her now like other candidates did.

As it stands, dem go use Desmond wipe ground on Wednesday at the direct primaries across all wards.
Na person wife Desmond catch like Okala like this?

We need a winger with a profile similar to Kvara or Dembele that can carry the attack and win us games
I agree. An elite LW will impact winning more. I guess it is left to Vivell and the scouts to do the needful.

I have no issues with him being a squad option if he can stay fit. But for someone who picks up injuries during light training it's best all parties move on.
Dorgu and Lewis Hall can hold down left back
True.

I guess it just depends on what the club sees Dorgu as. If he is LB squad option then we need to buy a LW to compete with Cunha.
If he is LW squad option then we need to buy a starting LB to compete with Shaw.

A pre world cup or Euro Shaw is always the most consistent and fit Shaw you will ever see till those competitions end and the next thing is a 4 month injury. He cant fool me anymore. He should be on the list of players to be sold
No. You keep Shaw as squad cover and buy a starting LB like Lewis Hall from Newcastle.
