You are right. I personally count Schizoaffective disorder under Schizophrenia. We have family friends from South Africa. They have 3 sons. Their middle son killed himself at 18 in the week when Schizophrenia hit him. He was still partially lucid enough to know he doesn't want a life of Schizophrenia and offed himself. At that point his elder brother had started mumbling to himself, which looks like a depressive disorder. Two years later the Junior brother developed Schizoaffective disorder at 17 years old. With all this pain, their mother now has Bipolar disorder due to the depression from all this misery and her Bipolar has developed into serious mania wey done reach to enter street if she wasn't being regularly hospitalised. I yarn with their Popsie regularly (who is my fathers friend). The man has borne so much loss, and all the genetic predisposition to Schizophrenia is coming from his wife's genes which has wiped out his whole line. The man is fairly stoic despite all the loss which he attributes to slight autism which protects him from being overly emotional about things.

That’s a tough story.

Our elders that used to inquire about mental illness in families before sanctioning marriage were not sleeping on duty.

Also, if anything it is pineal under-activity that is linked to Schizophrenia. The main issue though is with Dopamine which is nothing to do with the pineal gland.

Only people with Schizophrenia enter street. What we call Sokugo wandering disease in Africa. A Schizophrenic has an overactive pineal gland (the gland that puts limits on people and becomes active when you dream - hence in dreams, you do things beyond your brains normal limits like jumping from mountains). That's why a Schizophrenic enters traffic and can start waka from Lagos to Ibadan, he is in a constant dream state with no limits on what he thinks he can do. Schizophrenia unfortunately is a genetic disorder. Someone can be perfectly happy one day and his genetics kick in the next day to turn him Schizophrenic. It usually happens only between the age of 17 to 35.

Hundeyin is more of Bipolar disorder like Kanye which comes from changes to the brain after a long period of depression. They struggle with emotional regulation and allow emotions override logic too frequently and they start to misyarn. But they can look normal on a day to day apart from when they are in extreme mania states.

You are right to a point but not all the way.

That stark, raving psychosis that makes people enter street is more likely in Schizophrenia but it can also happen in some extreme psychotic phases of Bipolar or even more rarely Depression with psychotic features.

To further muddy the waters there is an illness that is neither fully Schizophrenia nor fully Bipolar called Schizoaffective Disorder. Those ones too fit enter street on a bad day.

Then there is a Cluster A personality disorder called Schizotypal Disorder. Those ones dey get magical thinking, odd beliefs, ideas of reference and consequent stray into paranoia. Those ones too fit enter road occasionally when water passes garri.

I said some time ago that Mainoo’s biggest obstacle going forward would be his tendency to focus on short possession-keeping passes and not make switching passes or line-breaking passes. He does not take enough chances and very little happens when he is on the ball.
