nihilistjnr: We've been facing a cost of living crisis here for the last 3 years. What the UK government did would be considered suicidal in Nigeria, but they created an environment to remove money from circulation and stick to reducing inflation no matter the cost.
The consequences have been profound. Job markets have been decimated. Record number of companies have gone insolvent. Hundreds of thousands if not in the millions have been laid off. Entire councils (like states) announced bankruptcy. Birmingham City Council (the 2nd biggest in the country) went bust trying to implement equal pay between male and female staff
The cure for inflation is incredibly bitter. If Tinubu even dared to think about it, he would probably be shot on sight. Cos both countries are quite different. A lot of those people that lost their jobs in the UK still have access to a level of free quality healthcare and welfare benefits that is unattainable to the average Nigerian. You now add the emotional torture of seeing the politicians that put you in this nasty position all driving around in their customized luxury cars and building mansions with their ill-gotten wealth. The day Nigerians check the country's expiry date and realize the country expired a long time ago, that is the day the leaders will feel the pain. |

OasisX: ....Workers deserve increment no doubt but not that outrageous amount Labour Union is quoting. ₦70k is ok, then pressure should be on FG to reduce Inflation drastically.
Temporary measure should be opening of borders until we are ready to plant what we eat. An unrealistic increase in minimum wage will lead to even more inflation and the real value of the increased income will be eliminated, however the government should not have to be forced to find ways to reduce the inflation in the country. This minimum wage issue is not wholly on the current government but is something that has been brewing for years. Politicians kept feeding fat and increasing their own income while pegging down those of the common man. One day monkey go go market but e no go return. We keep getting closer to that day. |

larride: This argument doesn't make sense though, if you want to earn nass member salary, resign from work and go join politics and see how easy it is to become a Nass member.
This doesn't change the fact that our NASS salary and allowances is outrageous. Then you are saying it makes sense. They were not saying everybody should earn NASS salary. Their point was that NASS member income increased by 155 over the years while minimum wage increased by 10 in the same period. |

timbros: True at the bolded. But in between that final loss to Madrid in '98, Juve knocked them out 3 consecutive times.
I remember that period, even if Madrid win first leg, Juve always come back in second leg to knock them off..
Juve was Madrid's bogey team them. Only once. In 1996. I can't remember another Juve vs Madrid in that era apart from the 1998 final that Madrid won. In 1999 Shevchenko and Rebrov beat Madrid. |

The thing was that Madrid was not regularly there while Juve was there year in year out. It was only later that we found out that they were injecting the players with boosters. Some of us suspected after the 1996 Final with Ajax sha. The aggression of some of those players seemed demonic. E sure me die say Torricelli and Padovano had more steroids that hemoglobin in their blood that night. |

steady986: This notion that only 3pt shooting is what wins you games is a fallacy. The Warriors can have all the shooting, but you see that rim, the Lakers would own it, both offensively and defensively. Every single rebound is theirs. Layups and dunks and alley-oops would be like water. The Warriors would march the Lakers to the line like clock work. You know what that means? Free points. Common todays Lakers that the Warriors complain of too much FTs , not to talk of this team.
The PnR would be unstoppable too, with Steph and Klay getting hunted every single time Imaging Steph having to guard Bron or Melo I did not say only 3 points wins games; however, every team needs some shooting. That team does not have enough shooting and too many ball-dominant players. Those are the problems. They do not even have enough mid-range shooters apart from Melo and maybe AD. T-Mac that i suggested for Melo is a much better defender and equally deadly in the mid-range without stopping the ball unnecessarily. Westbrook is the major problem though. Put him on any all-time team against another all-time, and the odds are he will wreck the team structure. Bull in a china shop guard that can't shoot. Talking about FTs, how many will Westbrook, Lebron, and Dwight make? Compared to Steph, Klay, KD? I am not often here but i am going to take a wild guess that you are a huge Lebron fan. |

Sports › Re: The NBA Begins by afrodoc2: 3:55am On Jun 03, 2024 |
steady986: Bron has been an assist leader in this league. He knows how to feed others. Which is exactly why he needs the ball. Assist leaders are typically point guards, and they are the ones who often have the ball most. How can you lead the league in assists if you don't have the ball a bunch of times? |
Sports › Re: The NBA Begins by afrodoc2: 3:52am On Jun 03, 2024 |
steady986: This question was posed on Twitter and I can't believe there are people who are saying the Warriors Not enough shooting on the Lakers and frankly speaking not enough balls. If they are allowed to play with 2 balls or they outlaw the 3-point shot then the Lakers can win. Melo will stop the ball and start that his jab step marathon. Best case scenario 2 points. Westbrook will also need his own ball and score 2 points at an inefficient clip. Bron will also need his own ball, although he will make far better use of it than the previous 2. The interior defense will be awesome though and the rebounding discrepancy would be huge. Meanwhile the Warriors are passing and moving and spamming EFFICIENT 3s from all angles. Replace Melo and Russ with 2 stars that can play off the ball and shoot, and then we are talking. For example, replace Melo with prime T-Mac. |
