If he is really lucky he and his tomato paste may feature in last week tonight with John Oliver.

If Trevor noah was still on the daily show, no way bros Erisco and his miracle sugar paste will not be the butt of jokes.

Lol ,some Chelsea fans on Twitter rates him though

Hype no Dey affect any player ,if you go come good you go come good ,just pray to be injury free

Way rooney chop hype from age 16/17 and had a successful career despite leaving top football earlier

Neymar chop hype from 18 and was successful ,I remember pele confidently saying he was better than Messi ,as much as some injuries affected neymar such hype didn’t get into his head

Clubs should just try to protect their youngsters ,hype will always be there in football
Neymar and Rooney are half in a generation players, and it can be said that they both didn't fulfill their utmost potential. More due to lifestyle and injuries than hype sha.

Hyping or no hyping if you will come good you will as far as you are working hard as a player ,fans will always hype which is normal ,there have been praises from all fanbase about the kid maino ,that shows he is good and the rest is left for him .

For over more than 20 years Brazil Dey always tell us who he new pele ,yet we never see any pele ,even Ronaldinho or neymar talent dem never fit produce grin
The hype is even more from England fans than Man Utd fans. Most Man Utd fans are now saying people should calm down. The person that WhoDey.House quoted was a West Ham fan that was saying Kobbie was better than Saka at the same age, meanwhile the United fan and the Spurs fan were telling him to faraburuku bale.

I agree the rest is up to him but i am just worried about village people. If you notice Chelsea fans on this thread have been suspiciously quiet about the matter, neither praising him nor criticizing him. That is because most of them have gone to the village to arrange correct otumokpo to attack the poor innocent boy.

Arsenal, Barca, Madrid fans have commented on him, either positively or negatively, but Chelsea fans are sitting quietly in the background, turning pot and trying to summon Abidoshaker power against Starboy. cry

As an ancient philosopher once said, a little knowledge is a dangerous thing. The person you quoted is not a Man United fan. He actually enjoys trolling United when they lose. This is an England problem not a United problem. An England fan yesterday on radio called Bellingham Zidane with pace, and said there were 6 England players in the World XI.

Chief afrodoc2 why do you think a lot of players who've been touted as superstars at youth level in the English game sputter out so quickly and in some cases, go on to achieve relatively little?

See Nile Ranger and Ravel Morrison.

Lots of people claim Joe Cole was the best player they saw live at youth level. Then there's Owen, more recently Odoi and Sancho etc... Even Rooney himself, despite being the record goalscorer for England and Manyoo and with his trophy haul, still isn't seen by some people as having achieved all the success he could have and is repeatedly passed over in all time PL XIs.
1) Too much pressure being placed on the young players leading to either physical or mental burnout.

A good example is comparing what happened to Rooney and Messi as teenagers. In 2004 Rooney as an 18yr old was the saviour for England and when he got injured England got bundled out of the Euros. 2 years later Messi as a 19yr old was still considered a squad player by the Argentine manager at the 2006 World Cup and kept on the bench in a knockout situation.
It was at this same World Cup that rather than allow Rooney to heal from a broken foot, England kept him in an oxygen tent to ensure he made the tournament. I believe that was where Rooney's decline started. Owen had the same problem of being played through injury after injury and by 22-23 he was done.

2) Poor lifestyle choices. Smoking, drinking, and poor diet tend to be more prevalent amongst English players than continental players. Rooney, Wilshere, Joey Barton are good examples of this.

3) A good number of the players (especially the black ones) are still tied to the streets and either do not really love the game as they should or have other things distracting them. Ravel and Nile Ranger are extreme examples. Generally speaking, if you get into the sport just to escape the hood, what is your motivation after you make your millions. This is Sancho's problem.

Hudson Odoi had a career altering injury, so it is difficult to know how his career would have turned out.

4) Some of them are just overhyped and not as good as advertised. The English Press is senseless in the way they raise players up to be gods and demigods, and pile ridiculous amount of pressure on them. I just watched them interview the man who coached Mainoo as a 4yr old.

I hope you are right but I think you are looking at things through the lens of today. The general breakdown of law and order I am seeing in Nigeria might ultimately change things in the future.

Nobody living in Northern Nigeria in the early 2000s could have predicted how bad things would get within 15-20 years. I can’t imagine the outlook and mindset of the kids being born today into a world where banditry is the norm.

You made a lot of good points regarding Mainoo tho but part of me just wants him to be a starter cos I really need England to win something (I'm rooting for them) and he brings that completeness. It's amazing to even know he doesn't even play as 6 how much more lone 6 in the academy. Omorr, it means this guy is good.

This is where Kalvin Philips would have been very very key while Rice plays the 8 to the fullest but wrong move just spoilt everything.
He was an attacker/RW until he turned 16. When he moved permanently into the Under-18s they often played him as a box-to-box midfielder. Sometimes as the most advanced midfielder and a few times as part of a double pivot. The only time i can say i have seen him struggle a bit was when he played as RW for the Under-18s, but he was only 15 then. The coach who moved him from attack to central midfield was the man who unlocked him.

I don't want England to run him into the ground and those journos who have only seen him play 5 matches are already hyping him the way only England journos can. I want him fresh for next season. I no send England papa.

Best to leave him on the bench. Maybe a midfield of Foden, Jude and Rice would work.

But all these structures depend on Southgate and his merry band of robbers.
Jude will have to sacrifice in the way Lampard and Gerrard never could.

Southgate will mess it all up. I am banking on it.

Foden has improved immensely over the last couple of years. He’s not the finished product yet, but he seems to be on the right path.
Nobody is doubting his talent. The debate is about his best position for the team. They are all developing and getting better, but the skillset is the skillset. He is a CAM not a LW. He is even a worse LW than he is a RW. Anthony Gordon, Grealish, Rashford will be more effective weapons as LW for England than Foden. Kane likes to drop in and link up play and he is not quick, so the wingers have to be pacy.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Chelsea Fan Thread: Club World Cup Champions 2025-2029 by afrodoc2: 11:37am On Mar 26, 2024
Leyqute:
Enough tactical flexibility could see Foden play LW+AM with Rice, Jude and Kobbie in midfield. You’d have to support him with a LB that bombs forward a lot since Foden likes to tuck inside. This structure provides width, is stable defensively and also potent offensively.

Since Rashford hasn’t had a great season, dropping him to the bench might make sense. If things don’t work out you can bring on Gordon. Or even Rashford to provide better wing play.
He played it in the last world cup and struggled. Foden has to play 10 with Bellingham at 8 OR play 10 with Bellingham on the bench OR be on the bench himself. Playing him on the wing shortchanges him and shortchanges the team that needs pace up front.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Chelsea Fan Thread: Club World Cup Champions 2025-2029 by afrodoc2: 11:34am On Mar 26, 2024

The thing is that England has a number 6 In Mainoo. I believe if you're good enough, then you're old enough and Mainoo is someone who have a seasoned pro head on his body. He's 18yrs too so it's not as if he's that kinda small boy sef. Mainoo just solved that conundrum.
Play Mainoo as 6, Rice at 8(this to me is even his best position) and either Bellingham/Foden at 10(or side 8 in a 433) and England won't suffer both offensively and defensively.
Presently, I'll go for Bellingham cos of the kind of striker Kane is but if I want more control and I'll go for Foden but even Bellingham can give me that control I need(as long as it's with Kobbie and Rice), so automatically for me, Foden goes to the bench. He can certainly change game from bench and give something different.

As for "slander". I doubt any arsenal fan slander Foden. We acknowledge his qualities and we know he's a very fine player but what we don't agree is that he's better than Saka. I don't even get the comparison sef cos Saka is a Winger while Foden is a Midfielder. There's no way one can tell me Foden on the wings is better than Saka no matter how versatile foden is.
Agenda or not, Saka on the wings is better than Foden. The kind of Kicks and double marking Saka receives for the past 3 seasons and he still comes out tops, I doubt Foden experiences that.
If England decides not to take Mainoo to the Euros sef i will be happy cos that will keep him fresh for us next season. However, i am okay with him going as a sub not a starter. The hype is getting too crazy and i would prefer to keep him grounded and develop organically rather than forcing him into high pressure situations. Also, Mainoo was not even a regular 6 in the academy and played more as a box to box or in a double pivot (not a solo 6). In a tournament where the margins are slim the vulnerable England defence will be better protected by Rice than by Mainoo. While Rice might play better personally as an 8, the team will be better served if he is played as a 6.

Regarding Foden vs Saka. I am in agreement with you. Saka is obviously the better RW, while Foden is the better CAM. The problem for Foden is that England rarely plays him as CAM because of Bellingham. At the last World Cup he played LW and of course did not hit his Man City heights. Even on the LW Saka will be better because he will be able to get past his man with greater ease. My issue is when both sides start rubbishing the other player in order to prop up their guy. They are both very good players.

Android say make dem build England around Foden.

Why not Man City build around Foden first let's see how good and consistent he is before thinking about England doing so.

Any player whom a top country builds around must certainly be a big player in his club. The Saka, Kane and Bellingham are all starters at top club for at least 2 years and they're all spine in their teams but no, England should leave them and build around Foden on a platter.

Na so cheesy
After analysing everything it is clear to me that England are phucked. And mainly because of the manager.

The solution is to ask Bellingham to sacrifice and move to the 8 position while Foden plays 10 and Saka is on the right. This gives England the dynamism and fluidity that they currently lack, although it weakens them a bit defensively.

The main reason I think this is the solution is because Foden and Jude are both better in central areas. The other major reason is that England has no experienced option at the 8 position, so Jude can do a really good job there. His stats might not be like his Madrid stats but he is a better option there than the alternatives.

Outside that midfield lineup, the other logical option is to bench either Foden or Jude. Stylistically I prefer a Foden type of 10 to a Jude type cos I believe Foden’s style brings more cohesive play to the team than Jude’s. If Jude is not scoring I am not sure how useful he is to the team’s patterns of play. However in a team without a cohesive style and requiring individual heroic performances from the players, Jude is the better option.

P.S I have noticed a trend whereby Barca fans slander Jude while Arsenal fans slander Foden (cos of Saka). Agenda can never be defeated. 😄

I think it's the rebel part. I remember Memphis impassioned speech after Benjamin Mendy got acquitted. Memphis is a "campaigner" on this matter, but €1m for someone he barely knows like that shows a fool easily parted with his money.

I just finish Tyson, Ali and Joe Frazier autobiographies and in all cases, you can see how these guys ended up broke. No discipline with money at all. Moving on to Roberto Duran who suffered the same fate.
Unfortunately, it is a recurring theme with sportsmen. They start making money when their brains are still developing, develop bad financial habits, and by the time they are mature enough to handle the money the well has dried up.

They are the only group who consistently go through those life phases backwards, i.e money before maturity, rather than maturity before money.
