as an aside - you dont want to talk about corruption in korea

we are learners compared to them

google korea slush fund and korea corruption
Nigeria is far, far more corrupt than Korea.

Transparency International in 2022 ranked South Korea 31st least corrupt country in the world. Nigeria was 150th.

Then the eye test and anecdotal evidence further backs the statistical evidence.

The only countries more corrupt than Nigeria are a few African countries, Asian/Middle East dictatorships, and Latin America narco-countries.

What happened to the pressmen asking him about what he thinks has made the super eagles solid defensively? Why dem leave Iwobi, Osimehn, Simon and Chukwueze dey query Bassey about their jobs?

It's more like they(the pressmen) are setting him up to be critical about his team mates or lie about their performances, but he directed them to go and ask them directly.

grin

I hear you.

He may not be used to giving political answers or he may just be someone who likes to mind his business
It does not work like that in a tournament camp where everyone is forced together every day, sharing rooms and meals. You can speak your mind inside the group but not making public statements that might be misunderstood or misconstrued by your teammates.

I would be surprised if he actually made that statement because it is ill-advised at best. If his LW leaves him to have an exciting 3some with the opposition RW and RB he would never say such again. cheesy

The question was "Why is the Super Eagles", and not "Why is Calvin Bassey"?

It was just a question of seeking his opinion. Which one be Don't ask me?

I don't think Osimhen would have said the same if he was asked about the defence.

Even the whole team is involved in both sides of the game. He thinks he is the one only defending?

He should go and ask Celestine Babayaro what happens to a LB that does not have proper LW protection.

The argument isn't funny because this matter is gone past dragging leaders; You know why? They all believe in the same agenda.

A Northern Muslim who's a Policeman believes in it
A Northern Muslim who's a governor believes in it
A Northern Muslim who's a soldier believes in it
A Northern Muslim who's a beggar believes in it.

Use Deborah's case as an example bro. Like...How far do you think you'll drag any leader for it?

Elrufai openly said the agenda is to make Islam rule the country for the next 40 years, and end anything about Christianity politically. If a man as exposed and educated as this is talking like this, what do you expect from a herdsman?

This is Nigeria's Vice president blasting someone for not supporting and upholding Sharia law. I hope you know Sharia law was meted out on Deborah. So you think Shettima would be having sleepless nights looking for Deborah's killers?

If we as a people do not put our feet down aggressively, na play we dey.
I can't say you have not given some food for thought, but it is your elected leaders you should be putting feet down aggressively for. They are the ones who are legally responsible for addressing those problems and who have the power and resources to effect change.

The fact that the police lied they rescued Nabeeha’s sisters when they didn’t makes it so difficult to believe this their story .

I was born not believing Nigerian police. The first lie i ever heard in my life is "police is your friend".

Adeboye will most likely talk about it in the coming week and even offer prayers for the people of Mangu but that’s where his influence stops .

The government and security agencies that have power to actually do something about it are the people that needs to be dragged the most .
That argument dey very funny to me. Any energy spent on dragging a pastor for that is energy wasted, especially when the appointed political leaders who can directly effect change are not being dragged to the maximum extent.

The pastors can only talk and it has been proven that their talk is not respected and carries no weight.

If we see that those politicians have been dragged to the extent the skin on their back is being peeled off, then maybe we can focus on pastors, imams, babalawos, Eckankankar etc.

I guess this then .

But even at that , his brashness always shine through . What will it take him to just say he has put all necessary measures in place to combat the kidnapping whether he’s in Abuja or Rivers over the weekend ?

His whole response gives an air of someone who lacks empathy and thinks it’s normal for people to get kidnapped

Haha. That one is a given nah. These people are living in an alternate reality. It is like the apocryphal story of Marie Antoinette asking the people to eat cake when they could not afford bread.

There is no empathy because they do not live in the same reality as the common man AND because they know they do not depend on the common man for their position. Wike is actually the poster child of that.

I was not getting the sarcasm in his tone at all.
It is not just the tone but the words he used and the context. He was defending his travelling home on weekends and trying to explain that it should not be the focus of attention since they kidnap Mon to Fri when he is around as well.

He then asked a rhetorical/sarcastic question, "so they don't kidnap Mon to Friday when i am around?
The problem was his intonation/stress was wrong and it ended up sounding like a statement instead of a rhetorical question.

Wike don finally craz.e 🤦‍♂️. He’s asking why they only carry out kidnappings on weekends when he goes to Rivers to rest and not weekdays while he’s in Abuja

https://www.instagram.com/reel/C2aotojtMPk/?igsh=dGI0MWJidnc4YTd5
That is not actually what he was saying. He was being sarcastic there.

What he meant was that kidnapping happens on any day of the week, so him travelling to Rivers for the weekend should not be a big issue.

I am saying bombing the kidnappers with the hostages ≠ eliminating/reducing the future threat; There are so many other possibilities

Especially since we all agree that these folks operate with the mindset of a terrorist
Yeah which makes bombing them with hostages even less attractive, since it might not ultimately work in achieving its aim.

What we are seeing are just further signs of a failed state.

I remember some years ago when the US said Nigeria would soon be a failed state, Nigerians were up in arms protesting US arrogance. It is happening before our eyes.

Let's see how emotional he is
It is very easy to talk when it is on paper or when it does not involve you personally. It is one thing to have a view that bombing both terrorists and victims is the way to go, but it is another thing to state that those who do not agree with that method are too emotional.

The solution is to go after them in such an aggressive way that they do not enjoy the proceeds of their crimes or know any peace. Go after their families. Go after their property. Go after their businesses and investments. Make being a kidnapper unconducive for a peaceful like. That is what the authorities should be doing first before just lazily bombing both perpetrator and victim.

Do you think we need a new coach?

If yes, who are your suggestions?
Unless something changes drastically in the way we play before the end of the season, yes.

Apart from Nagelsmann who I have always liked I don’t have any good suggestions.

De Zerbi and Amorim might not be ready. Xabi Alonso will never happen and he is probably not ready anyways.

Ancelotti is getting on in years, and why would he leave Madrid.

Finally, we get a CEO who knows a thing or two about football...Early days but still, it's a good move.
A decent first step but there is still more work to be done, and yes i like how it was handled in secrecy.
