Like I said earlier, the formation will have to be tweaked to accommodate this.

It’s a very possible reality.

Only Elanga can deputize as a winger. It’s better to tweak formation and add more midfielders than playing Amad, Pellistri or Garnacho on the wings.

Which decent job did Bruno do on the wings?

It is one thing to play in a position and say you are deputising but it is another thing to do it well.
If we start depending on players with zero pace like Bruno and VDB on wings we will miss out on Top 4 this season.

They can’t deputise there and should not if we have good ambitions. We have not reached the level of synchronised movement and passing that City reached whereby we can play slow men on the wings.

Na all this square peg in round hole things contribute to our problems. We should buy wingers to play in the wings not convert old midfielders to wingers.

You're thinking of these games in black and white. Imagining we'll be dominating teams outside of Liverpool and City. Thinking a team like even Leicester won't have us dropping deep in pockets of the game. You're wrong.

We'll play a lot of ETH's football next season. But we'll drop deep to defend in a lot of games next season. Don't let this preseason games deceive you.

1) Timber is only 5ft 10 himself while Martinez is 5ft 9.

2) Martinez is way better than Timber in aerial ability so if you are this worried about Martinez then Timber would have been even worse.

3) We were linked with him since April/May as an alternative to Timber who was indeed no1. Immediately Timber's deal was wrecked by LVG it became a choice between Martinez who was preferred by ETH and Torres who was preferred by the scouts. Arsenal came into the picture later but they moved fast which then triggered us to accelerate talks.

Will need some tweaking tho. We still need a few players, despite having Elanga to deputize.

VDB can't deputize on the wing and neither can Bruno. At least not the way Sancho and Rashford can stretch defences. We should not be going into a season with midfielders being the first alternative options to wingers.

Hannibal is fast for a midfielder. That is why he was sometimes used on the wings for the Under-23s. If Zidane Iqbal played with a little less composure but was bigger, stronger, faster he would be Hannibal Mejbri.

Funny thing is in the Under-18s because Zidane was so small he was the one usually played in the advanced position usually CAM while Hannibal played CM cos he could compete physically in midfield. However in the Under-23s after Zidane caught up in size he was moved back into CM due to his calmness on the ball while Hannibal because of his physical advantages was moved into more advanced positions playing CAM,LW, False 9 but also CM.

Elanga, Amad, Pellistri and Garnacho cannot be our attacking options this season. We need to sign another wide attacker and those boys need good loan spells.

Garnacho is not even ready for loan in my opinion. He needs to start the season with the Reserves. Come January they can review his progress.
If we sign just 1 wide attacker we will still be light up front and so we need to retain 1 out of Elanga, Pellistri, Amad. Right now we have only 3 senior players (Martial, Rashford, Sancho). We can't go into the season with that.

There is no football skill that AWB can learn this 1 month preseason that he couldn’t have learnt in his nearly 15 years of playing organised football…….if he had the capacity to learn it.

He is good at the back but useless going forward. Before we bought him I said he was not the right full back for a top team but people said he would learn. We are still waiting.

The stadium is 95k seater and there were about 90k people in the stadium. With all the nonsense the club/players have been doing for the last decade this club still pulls crowd like wetin.

I think the best time to bring Martinez in would have been the 2nd year into ETH's reign. When we have mastered the act of controlling the game, pressing as a team, tactical fouls from up front and so many things.

Cuz we'll see a lot of last season's uselessness from this team this coming season. And the trolling and hate that comes with underperforming in this team ehhn. Can literally set the tone of a player's career in the team.

We can’t master controlling the game and pressing high as a team if we have slow players like Maguire and Lindelof at CB though.

In order to start pressing high and controlling the game you have to bring in the players that you believe can do it. No manager can turn water into wine.

If ETH fumbles there might not be a 2nd year of his reign.
