The boys are here! And we will be there to cheer them on. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TPi4_mGgSWM |
melodyogonna:There is no loss in loaning him out to see what he can before selling him off for peanuts. If he does not show significant improvement over the next 1-2 years we can then sell him. His contract expires in 4 years. Remember if we can get good squad players from the youth team it will enable us go all out for the superstar talents as starters. If the academy had given us a good rotation LB for instance we won't have wasted money on Telles. |
Itsrm:E for Effort. ![]() All those years on debating on Chelsea's thread have turned izzou into Amalinze the cat. ![]() |
GloriousGbola: ![]() Clutching at straws on steroids. |
izzou:At this point you guys are just throwing different accusations at the man looking for which one will stick. ![]() From 1) He failed by not stopping Boko Haram in its infancy (obviously impossible as he wasn't governor then but it was another She) to 2) He lobbied for amnesty for them (proven to be the other She) to 3) that other She is now supporting this She. It can't be for free. ![]() Scattergun attack. One must enter. ![]() |
izzou:I have already stated earlier that with Tinubu's health i don't want him to be the next President. So this is not pro-Tinubu. I was just giving my opinion on your statement about Shettima failing to stop Boko Haram somehow being an indictment on his competence. Only a President who somehow eliminated all the endemic socio-economic factors that were instrumental in allowing Boko Haram come into existence in the first place working with his intelligence chiefs and Army/Airforce chiefs utilizing the monies given to them appropriately while maintaining morale amongst soldiers could have stopped Boko Haram by 2012. |
izzou:His approach might have been wrong but by the time he became governor Boko Haram had passed what any governor could handle. I don't know the man so i am not holding brief for him specifically but trying to explain the nature of the beast. By 2012 onwards only the President and the Nigerian Chiefs of Staff (Army and Airforce especially) and the rest of the top security big wigs could have done anything about that organization. Lack of leadership at the national level and corruption by the generals was what led to all the failures. That is my view anyway. The time to stop Boko Haram at the local level was 2002-2006 during Ali Modu Sheriff's tenure when they were still fighting other sects and stoning the police not 2011 when they were bombing military barracks in Abuja and breaking 100 of their soldiers out of prison in Bauchi. |
Itsrm:Early stages when he was not yet governor? Boko Haram grew during Ali Modu Sheriff's tenure and were already carrying out bombings in Bauchi, Abuja, Jos and breaking dozens of their members out of jail BEFORE Shettima became governor. Unless early stages means another thing. |
izzou:You are comparing Boko Haram a major terrorist organization with serious links to global terrorism and multiple victories against the Nigerian Army in its CV BEFORE Shettima became governor to IPOB? ![]() |
melodyogonna:So who are the 6 players you want us to use for the front 3 this season? P.S They kept using Elanga on the right last season in order to play Sancho or Rashford on the left. Even in the Under-18 where he was a baller he was useless on the right. I said so several times. Playing a youth player in his weaker position in a dysfunctional team is a recipe for disaster. |
izzou:What do you think a governor could have done differently to prevent his state being overrun by Boko Haram. |
Oasis007:All the hype was about Shoretire and Mejbri but i kept noticing from around end of 2020 when Zidane came back from his year long injury that he was as intelligent as both of them with the ball. Mejbri was/is bigger and stronger with the ball , faster and the better dribbler. Shoretire is also stronger, faster and has the best final/through pass of the 3 of them which is why he is often the most decisive but Zidane is not far off. To summarize, those 2 had physical advantages over him but those advantages (especially size and strength) have reduced enough for his technical ability (which is at par with theirs) to start to get him noticed. |
Oasis007:You guys should be paying me money for scouting. Person wey we don scout tey tey. ![]() |
Telles and AWB no dey redeemable jare. They were the 2 who made life difficult for the team in the first 10-15 mins of the 2nd half. |
melodyogonna:Savage is probably the best long range passer in the team right now. That his left foot get radar. My only worry is that he is not that quick. But he is rugged and energetic like his father and does not shy away from tackling. |
Searchingvictor:You say what? |
Dalot still having rush of blood moments. To calm down and square the ball is anathema to him. |
patrickmuf:Medicine after death. Why closing the stable door after the horse has bolted? The 2 gang leaders are notoriously unforgiving on this thread. |
izzou:Both sides have a point. Personally i don't have a problem with a same religion ticket especially if it is a nominal Muslim like Tinubu, however i see how the optics would give cause for alarm. 1) The North would never accept a Christian-Christian ticket so why should the South accept theirs. Goose and gander things. 2) A Muslim-Muslim ticket in these perilous times will grant the more obnoxious and extremist factions in Islam the confidence to carry out even more dastardly and audacious acts. They will assume the ticket gives them carte blanche to do what they will with Christians, similar to how the Trump presidency emboldened those who invaded the US Capitol building. |

Gambit001:MUTV. |
Oasis007:1-0 to Bruno. VDB lagging behind for now but it is only pre-season. |
patrickmuf:Garnacho is still a fair distance off in my opinion. He needs to play the full Reserve this season and maybe the odd Europa league appearance. Chong's time is almost up as i hear he is about to go back to Holland. Quite unfortunate cos he is one player who would have been well suited to ETH's style. He presses quite well and he has decent speed and technical ability. He just never had any good coaching right from the academy. i believe Garner will be a regular squad member this season. ETH will give him the opportunity to displace McFred. It is now up to him to seize the opportunity. I have noticed that as he has moved up into more senior football he has become less adventurous with his passing. Tuanzebe is at the age where only regular football is of any use. If he won't start we should sell him both for the club and for the player. |
hatakekakashi:A comfortably mid-table championship club that plays attacking football. Not those ones fighting relegation that will stick him on the bench cos they are afraid of him making mistakes. |
izzou:This religion is another major stumbling block in this country. The country's demographics as good as eliminates any Southern Muslim or Northern Christian from running for the presidency, no matter their individual qualities. |
hatakekakashi:Shoretire is about a year younger than those 2 so it is not too surprising if he is a bit behind in development. I also read somewhere that a loan move is being discussed for him. ETH probably believes getting regular minutes is more important at this stage of his development and i think at this point a firm decision should be made about his main position (AM for me). Some are reporting that Iqbal impressed and surprised ETH the most during the first week of training. With Mejbri joining the camp later i won't be surprised if it comes down to a straight tussle between them for who will be the squad rotation player with the loser going away on loan. If Laird stays fit i believe he can compete with anybody presently in the squad for the RB position in ETH's system. He is probably better than Dalot going forward but neither of them is as good as AWB in defending. |
Looking forward to see what ETH does with the academy players this season. I suspect 1 out of Laird, Mejbri, Iqbal will become a regular rotation player. |
izzou:BOOKMARKED! |
Roland17:I am pretty certain that SAP involved REMOVING the administrative pegging of exchange rates leading to devaluation of the naira NOT imposition of restriction or overvaluing the naira. SAP also loosened the restrictions on prices, interests rates, and imports. I think it is the austerity measures of the Shagari and Buhari/Idiagbon regimes that you are referring to. They were the ones who restricted imports and imposed controls on interest rates and the exchange rate (artificially overvaluing the Naira). |
Khanben:They don't call him Dame Dolla for nothing. ![]() |
