In 1959 they held it only 7 teams went. CONMEBOL vexed and organised it a 2nd time in the same year, this time only 5 teams went In 1963 only 7 teams went. CONMEBOL said okay let’s make it a rare event and pushed it back to 1967 only for 6 teams to attend. CONMEBOL kuku scatter everything and didn’t hold another competition for 8 solid gbako years. Bear in mind that even the few teams that were attending usually sent 2nd rate teams because players didn’t want to attend the Copa CarabaoAmerica. |

Abi na.. He told them to conserve their strength and skills for the next world cup Exactly. Pele was busy winning 3 World Cups in 4 attempts and refused to attend future CopaCarabaoAmerica and Brazil had to send the equivalent of Kogi state team to one of the tournaments. Messi 0 World cups in 4 attempts Pele 3 World Cups in 4 attempts Messi 1 CopaCarabaoAmerica in 25.618 attempts Pele 0 Copa but 25.618 phucks not given |

Tournament that they called Pele to attend after that he told them no he was busy winning world cups. Messi 0 World Cup Pele 3 World Cups Messi 1 Copa CarabaoAmerica Pele 25,952.7 phucks not given |

Havertz10: I don't understand schurley
All these cohbansexual people wouldn't kill me with laugh
We have academy players, that are constantly watched, if any is good enough, the manager is informed and he brings him to the first team
There he is scrutinized and measured for value
Other players that are bought, were bought because they were better than what we have, haaland is better than all the strikers in our academy, if he needs time to settle in, we would understand, academy players wouldn't get such leeway because they haven't proven themselves to be good enough for such patience
How can you compare buying the finest player available in the market to players from our academy, I don't even understand the arrogance from Chelsea fans about cobham, only Terry can be labeled a success, mount is proving to be another overhyped cleverley, how many Ballon d'Or winners are from our academy, they win most youth cups because they are mixed with other expensive good players that were gotten from other youth teams, our academy is no different from others, make una dey calm down with the hype, besides a good player is a good player, if we see one, nobody argues about it, that's how solanke was hyped, people were wailing when he went to liverpool, where is solanke today?
Is he conquering the world? Hmmm Oro pesi je Very true. How many Ballon d’Or winners or even podium finishes. |

Ronaldo is really unfortunate to have entered the international stage when he did.

Before 1984 only amateur footballers could play in the Olympics. For 1984 and 1988 only Europeans and South Americans who had never played in the World Cup could play in the Olympics. From 1992 only under-23 players could play (with 3 exceptions). Is there any better definition of a watered down competition? |

Messi has dealt with Manchester United twice in the UCL final so, I don't expect that line that his abilities diminishes in knock stage to come from you...
If you fault the Glazers as the number one reason for Manchester United woes then, you should take a closer look at Barcelona's board and some of their decisions prior to Laporta returning to see how useless a Board can be so much so that you'd reserve special praise for the Glazers...From Puyol to Mascherano to Lenglet...
From Zambrotta to Alves to Sergi Roberto...
From Ronaldinho to Henry to Villa to Neymar to Dembele...
From Deco to Iniesta to Coutinho...
I was secretly wishing Messi joins City but he has opted to remain at Barcelona... These are good EXCUSES |

We are talking about a players individual ability and how he has been able to apply them on the field of play, and that for me should form the basis when discussing who is the best and not team trophies... His level has often dropped for country compared to club and this ability to apply said ability seems to diminish in the World Cup. His ability also diminishes from group stage to knock out stage of UCL. You can check the records. |

If one GOAT candidate keeps underperforming at the apex competition the World Cup while the other (or others) dominates then his claim is questionable. |

patrickmuf: When Messi was asked to first win an international competition before he could lay claim to the title of G.O.A.T., what international competition was been referred to? The only ones he can participate in away from the World cup is the Copa which for some weird reason is now trash...The others are of the junior category which he played and won (U-20 and Olympics)...
Since you are saying Brazil doesn't give a damn about the Copa, can we then start rating the Olympics because prior to when Neymar led them to their first and only Olympic title, they have always assembled their best available team for the Olympics...
Even in Nigeria, the mention of Atlanta 96 comes with some form of nostalgic feeling...
I am certain if Portugal wins the Olympics with Ronaldo starring, we won't hear the last of it for days running to weeks and months... Messi was asked to win the World Cup. Nobody rates G.O.A.Ts by continental titles especially COPA which is the one with the most dubious and ridiculous history. |

Jodera: But your last discourse and this only talked about Brazil only and no other country. One thing I know is that Brazil is not the only top nation in South America.
If only Brazil does not regard it highly but others (like Argentina and Uruguay and Colombia) regard it then all the best for Brazil then.
If today France or Germany decides to only send small or inferior players to euros, that won't still diminish Euros quality if other top European countries takes it serious.
All the best for Brazil then na I made an example of Brazil as the best footballing nation with a well documented and easily verifiable history. You didn’t respond to the part where they are holding TWO tournaments in ONE year then next thing nobody accepts to host for several years. Or the part where countries are sending 2nd tier teams or being begged to send teams. Explain the part where a serious international competition is held twice in a year first |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by afrodoc2: 11:37am On Jul 17, 2021 |
Jodera: Well... This is another discourse entirely cos the person I'm refuting is claiming that 1... It has never been held annually 2... That it was staged every year cos of messi, thus it shouldn't be taken serious. So I tried to dispute those two facts.
While I might not know the reasons why they did such, I'll need to dig deep and research to know why before entering your discourse , cos I'll need to know the reasons behind it, esp that of pele Don’t worry yourself too much. I already researched for you. Dem no too rate am for Brazil. Disorganised competition from time. No regularity. 2 times in one year then next thing no competition for 6 years. Other times not enough countries are interested so they beg them to just send some players ANYHOW ANYHOW. Other times to complete quorum they invite countries from other continents. |

What about 1945-1947 were it was held annually again? I guess that's WW20.
Guy, I've already disproved you that that Annual ish have started years before messi was born so you can't pin it on messi that it was favored cos of him or blame them for doing something they originally started Just shows how wretched the competition has always been. Brazil the top footballing country in the world does not regard it. There were times Brazil refused to send teams and other times they did mini mini mani mo to pick from the registered footballers in Brazil to go there. |

Brazil repeatedly sent inferior teams to Copa. Pele’s time that he went to 4 World Cups he went to only 1 Copa. As recently as the 2000s Brazil sent an inferior team that I believe was captained by Fenerbahce Alex, a man that was struggling to make the 1st choice Brazil team. There was a time Brazil sent a team from a Brazilian state to represent them. It is like Nigeria sending a team from Taraba state to AFCON. |

Thunder will fire Arteta 5times if he treats him like an ordinary player, and 10times if he treats him like an academy player. Saka has potential. Playing him as wingback today, RW tomorrow, LW next week will eventually stunt his growth. |

Roland17: Saka is one of the primary reasons Arteta still has a job! He has to be the first name on the team sheet for the wide men. Pepe, Willian and the rest have to fight for shirt after him. Adete should stop using him as a utility player or a rotation player. Start the boy on one wing and leave him there to develop. If Martinelli is able to maintain his fitness he should also get a run of games as either 1st or 2nd choice in a particular position. Wasting time on experienced players with no improvement left in them or with lower ceilings is just that…..wasting time. |
