How can the Govt create scarcity when they don't control the production of guns and it's distribution. Most Gun production companies if not all are privately owned. Mexico banned the ownership of guns totally by individuals but gun is still every where in that country. No amount of policy will stop criminals,gangs and cults from getting access to guns. It's not just possible in my opinion. Uk might be the exception not the rule cus I learnt even their police don't carry firearms.

Gun control in the rest of the Western World (apart from the USA) has led to very low rates of gun violence and gun related deaths compared to the USA.

The more doctors, lawyers, and engineers and the fewer career criminals, gangsters, junkies Black America produces the more difficult it is for racism to be justified in the thoughts, words, and actions of those racists.

And that post was actually about racism generally, not police brutality. They are similar but not identical topics.

I was talking about the systemic racism that is ingrained in many societies and about the millions of racists that are not cops and would never beat up or kill a black man.

Cos the truth is that those silent but powerful private citizen racists are the foundation that the racist killer cops rest on.

Racism does exist everywhere to different levels, but i don't think it is pervasive here. Most formal work settings have systems in place to combat racism, bullying e.t.c which is why when it happens it might be so subtle that you the target/victim might not even notice. Cases of overt racism usually end with the perpetrator getting reprimanded (in some cases severely).


While it is important to stand up for your rights and be vocal if you believe you are being targeted because of your skin colour, in my experience the most effective cure for racism is to be very good at whatever you do.
I have worked with a couple of exceptional African doctors (Zimbabwean Intensivist and Nigerian Prof of Medicine) and they were treated like small gods in the hospital, and just from their excellence were able to lift the profile and respect accorded Africans there.

It is important not to focus on looking for racism but to focus on being the best kind of professional you can be and representing yourself, your family, and your people in the best possible light.
Sometimes people are initially reluctant to engage an individual because of his skin colour but if you prove yourself you can break down those barriers easily.

My profession is a bit different because of the preponderance of foreign doctors. The average white guy here who is racist to the point of not wanting to be attended to by a foreign doctor or uses rude or offensive language to a foreign doctor might just be shortchanging himself.

While i agree with you that economic empowerment like you alluded to is an avenue to stopping the madness, i don’t think you are making a fair comparison when it comes to Jews.

The Jews have had a head start of several hundred years over Blacks when it comes to the western world.
You underestimate the financial might of Jews if you think African Americans already have the financial resources to make the power plays you alluded to in your previous post.
It is important to appreciate the position of Jews in America pre and post World War 2 to understand how they were able to exert significant influence on government policy.

1) About 10 yrs ago when there was only 1 Black in the Top 400 richest Americans there were 30 Jews in the Top 100.

2) Currently there are 6 Jews in the top 10 richest Americans.

3) Jews make up 2 percent of the population and have about a third of the wealth.

4) They have dominated the banking industry and the movie industry in the USA right from the times Blacks were legally barred from most schools and disenfranchised by Jim Crow laws, and whites had to portray black characters because most blacks were not allowed to have those roles.

5) They had the advantage of wealth accumulation across several generations and came willingly to America as traders and bankers with funds and assets, unlike the Blacks who were kidnapped from their homeland, subjected to 300yrs of slavery, and 100 more years of Jim Crow.

The Blacks do not have, and will not soon have the financial resources to make the power plays of the scale of the Jews, and you can’t expect Blacks in 60yrs to build the kind of economic base the Jews built over hundreds of years.

It is also important to note that most of the land mark occasions in this fight right from abolishment of slave trade, abolishment of slavery, Brown vs Board of Education, to the Civil Rights Act all came about through varying forms of public advocacy (and a bloody Civil War) and not just through black economic empowerment.

TBH, the bar on joining the Police is too low. I remember my friend Omar in college. He always stressed that he doesn't need to pass cos he is aiming to join Police and he was dumb as a dodo. So what stops any dumb racist from joining the Police force. Infact if I was a racist and not very bright intellectually, the Police is the first place I'd apply because they pay better than other unskilled labour and I can get satisfaction from having power over blacks in that position.

On an aside, my old friend Omar caused a media storm in UK, 4 years after we finished A Levels by refusing to guard Israeli embassy cos Israel was fighting war with Lebanon at the time, and his wife was Lebanese while he was Syrian. Police force later got their lawyers to clear up the controversy by giving excuse that he was scared of reprisals from Muslim extremists. Anyway, I gathered from the media reports that he had gone high up in the Police in the intervening cos he was special forces, handling heavy weaponry. I thought if this dumb guy can go this far in Police in 4 years, that means I should always see any Policeman I come across as some dropout who is only doing this job cos they don't have brain to succeed elsewhere.
