Chioma Ajunwa..
Greatest Nigerian athlete of all time? Not a bad one but i ultimately would have to disagree.

She is up there because of her achievement, and it was one of my proudest moments as a Nigerian but i don't think she had that sustained excellence to be the numero uno of all time..

I don replace Maradona with Messi sha

Wetin questionable about Robertson
His story is still being written. He is on the way there but if he retires today he would not be regarded as an all time great. But that is by the way.

Another question. Who is the greatest Nigerian sportsman of all time? And why?

Try this

------Pele Weah
Maradona--Zidane

--KDB---De-Rossi
--------------

-Robertson--Vidic--Koulibali Lahm

------------Yashin
Comman see o. They said you didn't pass your own exam. Koulibaly n Maradona. Not to talk of the questionable Robertson inclusion. Lol

I was going to quote him until I saw your post. Zidane won that final with his headers but thuram, desaily and the parapo defence really neutralized choked Brazil's attack.
That is one of the best World Cup defences ever. Blanc and Desailly at the end of their peaks, Thuram and Lizarazu at the start of theirs.
Only thing that spoiled it was Blanc missing the final, but Leboeuf stepped in seamlessly.

Let me just add this here.

Baresi 1990 and 1994 final. In the 1990 clip you will see excellent defending, midfield, and even wing play from Don Franco.

Really? I never knew oo, i thought it was Zidane, because he (Zidane) later won both the ballon dor and FiFa world best player that year.
Honestly Ronaldo in 1998 was unplayable, even though he was just 21 at that time, One of the players in history to dominate 2 consecutive world cups. The reason I was offended at the name "Fat Ronaldo" lol
I always say the greatest teenage players ever are Pele and R9. Until his body and those Italian killers betrayed him he was on a mad trajectory.

Ronaldo was a better player in 1998, But he absolutely dominated the 2002 tournament. The only match he did not score in was versus England in the 1/4 finals, he was head and shoulders above every attacking player in that tournament(Rivaldo has a case though) and Hassan sas of Turkey.
In 1998, for me, he was also the best player in that tournament, he was allegedly poisoned and suffered concoction before the final, but there was also Dennis Bergkamp, Zidane and Davor Suker. Zidane won the best player though.
Common misconception. Ronaldo won the best player award.

Can't argue against your choice of Keepers.

Baresi was missed most of the Matches in 94. Sandro Nesta good one.
Yeah Baresi 1990 not 1994 tournament as a whole, but his 1994 final performance is the best I have ever seen. VVD’s 1 month output of tackles, interceptions, clearances in 120 minutes.

Let me throw this out there. We all can name several Attack minded players that dominated a tournament or another. Now what If I asked you to name a Defender or a Goalkeeper that either dominated a Tournament or came closest to doing so, who would you pick? One of each preferably.
Baresi 1990 World Cup
Sammer Euro 1996
Cannavaro 2006 World Cup

The 200m is just to scare clubs (like arsenal cheesy cheesy) away,.. Levy also quoted high price for Berbatov back then,.....Ferguson still got his man on the last day of transfer (dont forget we hv Ronaldo, Rooney,Tevez,Manucho, Macheda,Welbeck that same year)..........

On a normal sense if Eden Hazard is worth 150m (this range) at 28/29 years old, Kane should/can be 200m at 26 years.

Tottenham are finding it hard to pay their staffs because of covid -19, we can negotiate something,Kane also want to leave.

Alex Ferguson would hv signed him since self,he doesnt joke with the capture of top strikers,..... Kane still got at least 7 good years in him.
The 200m reported is in pounds. Hazard was sold for 100m euro (89m pounds).

Ronaldinho was an absolute artist and you could see that he was doing it with such fun and happiness. Bad thing he was finished at 29.
The man was finished by 27 at the latest.
The last season at Barca and the whole Milan experience was executed by the carcass of Ronaldinho.

Despite being an all time great he has to be in the running for greatest waste of talent ever.

If that is the going rate then you have to pay it. Kane is a tested EPL striker and can deliver

Chelsea for example spent 130M on Morata Batsuayi and Giroud while having no striker right now

Kane is one of the few reliable strikers available, You will struggle to name 3 strikers under 30 better than him.

A 29yr old Hazard with 1 yr left on his contract went for over 100M,
How much will Kane from a rival, multiple years on the contract, younger and a more reliable player than Hazard go for. Given his circumstance
200m pounds is not the going rate, especially not in a deflated COVID-19 market. Nobody is going for that much this summer.

Can you list the people who have EVER been sold for 200m pounds? Then we can determine if it is the going rate.

Probably Zidane. Then maybe Giggs.

Most definitely. We used the common room as the stadium with its polished floor as the pitch.

We had seeding based on past performances and qualification from different groups into the knockout stages.

They were held in each hostel in the few days between end of exams and us going home.

Often a super tournament was then held between the champions from each hostel.

Mine will be the Netherlands team of the late 80's/ early 90's with Van Basten, Rijkaard, Koeman, Gullit and A. Winter.
It’s hard to say they were underrated.

Analysts rate them highly. They underachieved though.

It isn't that clearcut even among Milan fans

This is a Milan forum dating back to 2003, when Maldini still had like 5yrs to retire and they were split down the middle on who was better, I am sure chic2pimp or Roland17 who identify with Milan will also have that struggle

I watched more Maldini than Baresi and I think Paolo was marginally better

http://forum.acmilan-online.com/showthread.php?t=1991
Rather than faceless fans many of whom probably didn’t watch peak Baresi I would go with the registered club fans and Serie A footballers association members who voted Baresi as AC Milan Player of the Century and Serie A Player of the Century respectively.

He had the higher peak although Maldini had the longer career.

When we were kids playing football, and we used to give ourselves the names of famous footballers, Baresi was usually the only defender whose name boys chose. In the midst of Rummenigges, Platinis, Van Bastens, Gullits, and Maradonas.

Emenalo played as a left back in the world cup. So he obviously didn't obstruct Ugbade's chance of getting selected. Emeka Ezeugo had a physical presence Ugbade didn't have. Oliseh and Ugbade were both in nations cup as two midfielders who didn't play the world cup qualifying matches. Ugbade was a flop and kept exposing us. I was pained he was not allowed to make the world cup team to enable him male history. But the decision was the best. Some people wanted Ikpeba to be dropped because he was a new invitee who whose chance of getting a game was 1/20
It was definitely the right decision. He was not fit throughout that 1994 but kept hiding it in order to try and make history. That was the era when players used to hide their injuries in order to play for their country.

Ikpeba hired limousine to take himself to the airport after Italy beat us(while others used the team bus). He was angry that he didn’t get any opportunity to shine in the tournament.

Ugbade believed he would have gone as reserve LB because he had played that position several times as well. Emenalo coming in blocked that possibility.
There was no place for him in that loaded midfield.

Ugbade has no excuse. He was poor in Tunisia 94. He also did not take part in the qualification to USA 1994. If out all, it should be scantily. It was Thompason Oliha, JJ Okocha, Isaac Semitoje that were in our midfield. Then Adepoju was also used.

Even Oliseh came after we had qualified for the world cup. But he was an instant hit in the final match of the Nations cup qualifier.
Ugbade believed it was spiritual. Lol

First of all he suddenly started battling niggling injuries from late 1993, which he believes led to his poor 1994 form.

Secondly, out of nowhere Keshi brought Emenalo to the camp, meaning Ugbade’s possible place even as a bencher was in jeopardy.

Then the Nollywood part. The night before the list came out Ugbade said he had a terrible dream in which he had a life and death struggle with someone whose face he could not see.
They struggled all night and in the early hours of the morning at the point the person became victorious he was woken up by a knock on the door.
It was one of the coaches, to tell him that he had not made the final World Cup list and had to leave camp.

The poor man connected the dots. He also never really recovered from the injuries.
