Nah I know that,

I was pointing out that the only place we saw the word was in Latin.

Africa as a word did not exist anywhere else. That's why I initially asked him in what language does Afri mean black man
Oh ok. The guy's theories are always clashing like color riot LOL. Africa as a word though is just a latinized version of an indigenous word likely of Berber origin, probably in use before the Romans got to Africa.

However i agree with you that the whole "named after a man in the 100 yr of homo sapiens history" theory is B.S.
Clear use of retrofitting here, not so different from how backronyms are used.

In whose language?

Cos the guy that beat Hannibal was called Scipio Africanus, and he was a white Roman.
His name was actually Publius Cornelius Scipio. He was given the name Africanus because of his exploits in Africa. So he was named after Africa, and not the other way round.

Not in any way saying our in house philosopher is right though. cheesy

This one is a bit tricky...
This is the easiest. Took me about 5 seconds. I immediately recognized Liverpool's 2005 UCL Final lineup so i didn't even have to look at the other team to know it was AC Milan.

How many teams have ever fielded a Finnish CB (Hyypia), an Australian Left sided attacking player (Kewell), and a Czech attacker (Baros).

The trick is to first identify the countries the clubs play in and then identify the players from the unusual countries.

Probably even easier.

1) Obviously a German club vs an English club

2) 2 Ivorien forwards so i am thinking Drogba and Kalou, Brazilian CB is Luiz and Portuguese FB is Bosingwa. Chelshit

3) Ukranian CB in a a German team is Tymoschuk until proven otherwise, Dutch/French wing combo is the legendary ROBBERY. Bayansh

Bayansh vs Chelshit 2012 UCL final.

Team on the right is Arsenal with Fabianski in goal, Armand Traore at left back and Senderos or Djorou centre-back with Ramsey and Rosicky midfield and RVP upfront.

Team on the left is Manure. This must be the 8-2.
Yeah it’s 8-2, but I believe Szczesny in goal rather than Flapianski.

Una no dey tire?!?! shocked shocked shocked

Guess the match below joor and the scoreline....
Man Utd-Arsenal 8-2.

1) Easy to see it was 2 England teams.

2) Easy to see one team was Arsenal with a Polish GK(in this case Szczesny, Swiss CB (Djourou), Czech,Russian, and Dutch attacking players (Rosicky, Arshavin, RVP).

3) Second team easily Man Utd with English majority but a Portuguese winger (Nani) and a Brazilian midfielder (Anderson).

Nice quiz. Give us another. I don tire for all these sermons

Na.. Siasia played alongside Oliseh in the midfield, he was the CM while Oliseh was the DM.
It was a 4-4-2 formation with Amuneke and Finidi playing from the wings While Yekini/ Amokachi played CF. Thing is Amokachi was also very fluid in his movement, case in point the game against Bulgaria where he switched roles with Finidi to create a hockey assist for our first goal.

Some of our wingers were thought dribble and cross from youth team.

Dimeji Lawal and Tony Emodofu also had strong wing game, even Tijani Pius Ikedia and Manga Mohamed though all these didn't last

Finidi was the one who brough European classic wing play, his delivery was always on point from his Sharks of Port Harcourt days
I remember Dimeji, that was why i said senior team. He showed flashes for the senior team but his best was for the youth teams. I remember one game in Lagos for the senior team, after which the fans ran unto the pitch and kept chanting his name. But injuries and whatever contract issues he had in Europe scuttled his career.

Elahor fondly called Elastic Elahor, his pullout was second to none from the left wing

There was a game we played Ghana he almost killed the Ghanaian right back
Best touchline game in Naija senior national team history. There was one NASA pullout he placed on Yekini's chest that i will never forget.
He had a good combination for a short time with Reuben Agboola.

That is why i didn't put him. He had quality but didn't play for long. On second thoughts i think the space beside Uche Okechukwu should go to Keshi, i totally forgot about him.

Did they achieve anything for NT?
I didn't watch odegbami but I heard he's skillful they called him mathematical sege, yekini too I was too young in 94
Lol.

Odegbami won our 1st nations cup. Scored twice in the final. 2nd top scorer all time (despite being a winger).

Yekini won our 2nd nations cup. Top scorer in 2 nations Cups. All time top scorer. Scored our 1st ever World Cup goal.

Yekini is undebatable.

I thought Aiyegbeni is our record goal scorer?
No. Yekini and Odegbami scored more.
And stats aside, nobody who watched Yekini would dare compare both.

Then starting a match with Yekini was like starting the game 1 goal up.

Tbh...I no fit put okocha inside anytime ahead of serious player like Amokachi. If na even right back remain I go put Amokachi first before I reason Okocha side grin
Lol i no fit fight you over that.
But I view Amokachi as a striker so he needs to move forward to go and struggle for shirt with Yekini them.

When I consider the longevity of Okocha’s career in the team I can’t bench him for someone who was really a striker.

In a 4-4-2 maybe Amokachi enters as the strike partner to Yekini, but I can’t put him in as a midfielder.

The only guarantee on this list would be Yekini. Almost every other position is debatable based on your age and style preferences.

My all time Super eagles 11:

——————-—-Enyeama——————-

—-Eguavoen—U. Okechukwu—West—Iroha——

——————-——-Oliseh————————-

———Finidi———Okocha———-Amuneke—-

————————-Kanu———————-

————————-Yekini———————
Very good list. Also the guys have dissected it well and made some good points.

Eguavoen made me sad in 1994. He was tall, quick, rugged but didn’t have the best decision making.
Yobo and Equavoen played the same 3 positions (RB,CB,DM). I go with Yobo.

Mine:

.........................,.......Rufai..........................
....Yobo......Okechukwu.....Taribo.....Babayaro..
................................Oliseh.........................
..................Odegbami .......Okocha.........
.....Finidi..................Yekini.........Amuneke.......

I know Odegbami was a RW but had to fit him in there somehow. That 1980 deserved a shoutout LOL. He was the best player in a Nations Cup winning team(our first), scoring 2 goals in the final against a team with Belloumi and Madjer.

The first half of Okocha was a showboater but the showboating reduced towards the later part of his career.
Oruma at his peak was probably a much better fit for the national team but he was criminally sidelined for Okocha, partly because of the fans.

How can he suddenly turn back now and say he wouldn't mind using the network; and that he was only concerning about gbé health risk. His first and recent videos are not reconciliable at all, but I doubt most members will see it that way sha.
