How can everybody on that twitter thread be PDP? You think we are all madd in this country?

And you are likley a youth o. Unlike Remi who at least have made something of her life, you are just starting out and yet been this unfortunate.

Am so ffucking angry. And i have always said that the persons that still support these politicians are worse than the politicians, cos they are the ones that still enable these political elites to keep at what they are doing. Otherwise, the political elites are very vulnerable.

You can't try that in Nigeria and get away with it. Point is, Ghanaians aren't saints compared to Nigerians, as many of you would like to paint. There are Ghanaian criminals in Nigeria as well, who are involved in oil bunkering in the Niger-Delta, but Nigerians don't take it out on other Ghanaians living in Nigeria, or do they? There have been many instances where their citizens even claim to be Nigerians when apprehended for committing crimes abroad.

I don't think he will do that this time around. Remember that Wike just proved that PDP is as blood thirst as APC just that they lack opportunity.

That alone sealed off his friendship with FFK and Abaribe(To an Extent). He won't support the election no matter if Anambra adhere or not, but he will use the outcome to prove to the remaining SE states the reason why he opposed to the election with a Justifiable point. And here, people will call him a prophet or master strategic and then adhere 80 percent in 2023.
Let's wait and see. The Anambra governorship election date is drawing closer.

If Nnmadi Kanu can succeed in getting Anambrarians to boycott the election of a new governor in the upcoming election, then he would have proved to be the real MVP/Odogwu and sole lawgiver and executioner in igboland, considering Anambra's position as the foremost and most influential SE state. But I'm not holding my breath about it happening because it would be an invitation to anarchy. Kanu will likely support an election holding at the last minutes just to save face.
PoliticsRivers Teachers Protest Non-payment Of 5 Years Salaries, Block Govt House by afroniger(op): 9:41am On Apr 22, 2021
Some government primary and secondary school teachers in Rivers State, yesterday, protested non-payment of their five years salaries by the state government.

The protesters, who took over the entrance of the Rivers State Government House with placards bearing different inscriptions such as “Government is not a personal thing”, “Our teachers deserve better treatment, pay them their salaries”, “God is against injustice, please pay our teachers’ salaries”, “Wike ease our pain and save our education sector,” were joined by their former students, family members and members of civil society organisations.

The teachers from Rivers State University International Demonstration Secondary School, Nkpolu-Oroworukwo in Port Harcourt; Ignatius Ajuru University of Education’s Staff Primary and Secondary School, Ndele and the Ken Saro-Wiwa Polytechnic’s Staff Primary and Secondary School, Bori, all in the state, said it was unfair for the government to continue to withhold their monies, especially after a court of competent jurisdiction had ordered payment of same.

Speaking, Chairman, Rivers State Civil Society Organisations, Enefea Georgewill expressed sadness over the action of the state government in withholding the teachers’ salaries for up to five years.

Georgewill appealed to the governor to come to the teachers’ aid who he said have been experiencing severe hardship and unable to cater for their families, reminding the governor that he was a beneficiary of teachers training.

He said: “We condemn in the strongest terms the attitude of the governor towards the teachers.

How can the governor, Nyesom Wike donated N500 million to the Sokoto State government over a fire incident that engulfed a market, whereas teachers in his state are being owed five-year arrears of salaries.

“It is unfortunate we are in a country where people don’t appreciate peace. Violators are those rather placed on payrolls, and pay them every month, while nobody cares about the law-abiding ones.

“More than 26 teachers have died so far, over non-payment of their salaries, the governor should comply with the court order and pay us.”

However, at press time, no official of government had addressed the protesting teachers.

ON APRIL 21, 2021 NEWS

Abia government has warned residents of Ngwa Road in Aba commercial city against attacks on contractors reconstructing Ngwa Road in the state or be punished.

The warning was contained in a press release signed by Abia Information Commissioner, Chief Okeiyi Kalu and made available to newsmen in Aba on Wednesday.

The warning came after some contractors were reportedly attacked and chased out of a construction site on Ngwa Road which is close to Ngwa Road Market.

“Our attention has been drawn to the disruption of ongoing reconstruction of Ngwa Road, Aba, by sundry persons suspected to be traders and other community actors who attacked the contractors.

“Gov. Okezie Ikpeazu has directed the leadership of Ngwa Road Market Traders Association (NGWAMATA) and the Traditional Ruler of the area, to ensure that the attacks and harassment on contractors ceases forthwith,” he said.

The commissioner said that government would sanction those involved including closure of the market till completion of work on the road.

Kalu urged the contractor, Heartland Construction company, to deploy fully to the site to meet agreed timeline with the government before the full onset of rains.

The government said that steps have been taken to ensure the safety and security of the contractors on the road.

PoliticsEx-Militants Threaten To Return To Creeks, Demand Entitlements by afroniger(op): 4:16pm On Apr 16, 2021
A coalition of nine militant groups in the Niger Delta has threatened to dump the ceasefire reached with the Federal Government and resume armed agitation over the alleged refusal of the government to stop paying 13 per cent derivation to the governors of the region.

The coalition, under the aegis of Reformed Niger Delta Avengers (RNDA), accused Governors of the region of allegedly diverting the money accruing from the 13 per cent derivation to personal pockets without recourse to the infrastructural development of the oil-producing communities.

The RNDA, in an electronic statement on Friday by its Coordinator, self-styled ‘Major General’ Johnmark Ezonebi, urged President Muhammadu Buhari to pay the derivation directly to oil producing communities since the governors had allegedly failed the people of the region.

The coalition lamented despite the series of complaints and petitions against the state governors concerning the underdevelopment of the Niger Delta, the Federal Government had not deemed it necessary to stop paying the derivation to them.

The RNDA threatened the alleged decision by Buhari to side with the state governors by refusing to the stop the derivation payment to them would not be tolerated any longer and it might lead to resumption of hostilities in the region.

The coalition said: “We frown at the payment of 13 per cent derivation funds to state governors in the Niger Delta despite protests and suggestions that it be paid to the oil-producing communities in the region in order to improve the direct welfare and infrastructural needs of the oil communities.

“We agreed after our emergency meeting in the creeks of the Niger Delta that we will soon collapse the cease-fire agreement entered with the Federal Government since on the 21st of August 2016, if the payment of 13 per cent derivation fund to the governors continues.

“And that it will be bloody in the creeks if our demands are not met because we will not fold our arms and continue to tolerate the deliberate perpetual injury occasioned by the governors of the oil-producing states to the people who are from the oil-producing communities in the creeks.

“There is serious deliberate neglect by the governors of the region despite receiving such huge amount of money monthly while the people in the communities are abandoned and left to suffer.

“The Governors live flamboyantly without having any human feelings for their fellow kinsmen who suffer most hazards from the exploitation and exploration activities from crude oil production from the communities.

“Our people are left with no single meaningful development and human empowerment despite the billions and trillions of naira being collected by these Governors on behalf of the oil-producing communities.

“The level of deliberate abandonment and neglect by the governors of the South south states who are receiving over N180 billion yearly from the Federation Account as payment of 13 per cent derivation from the Federal Government on behalf of the oil producing communities is nothing to write home about.”

PoliticsPresidential Poll: Rivers Is As Important As Lagos, Kano, Says Wike by afroniger(op): 8:35am On Apr 16, 2021
April 16, 2021

By Mike Odiegwu, Port Harcourt

Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike has said anybody jostling to be president of Nigeria will need to secure votes in Rivers to combine with either Kano or Lagos to win.

He said such a pivotal position established the importance of Rivers in the political scheme of the country, and nobody would be allowed to undermine it.

Wike, in a statement by his Special Assistant, Media, Kelvin Ebiri, spoke at the grand finale of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) local government election campaign at Ulakwo in Etche Local Government Area yesterday.

He said: “I keep telling the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), that no state has given more votes to the party than Rivers.

“And it is only in Rivers, in the whole of Southsouth, that the All Progressives Congress (APC) didn’t get 25 per cent votes in 2019 General Elections. We taught them a lesson.

“In Nigeria, nobody wins presidency if you didn’t win either Rivers and Lagos or Kano and Lagos together. Rivers is not a state anybody can joke with. Some states went to negotiate with them. Rivers didn’t do it.”

Wike criticised Senator Andrew Uchendu for his alleged uncanny comments in the media and wondered what courage he had to talk against the PDP administration that was ending the suffering he inflicted on his people.

He said: “I was watching Arise Television the other day, and I heard Senator Andrew Uchendu and the Chief Medical Director of University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital. The CMD said I asked him to indict the former governor. I don’t know that he has such judicial power. I don’t also know his basis.

“He (CMD) set up a target. The man was lobbying to be a commissioner where our former party chairman comes from without even doing due consultation. Because I didn’t give him commissioner, he ran and started to abuse me.”

The governor said it was regrettable that Uchendu spent many years in the National Assembly and was close to the former administration in the state but could not fix the road leading to his village.

He said: “I am going there to flag off the road and to tell his (Uchendu) community, see what your son couldn’t give you. He (Uchendu) has collected the contract from NDDC every year, he abandoned it. I am going to shame him by doing that road.”

Wike said the fortunes of Etche people improved under the PDP-led administration in the state.

According to him, under his administration, Etche sons have been appointed as Vice-Chancellor of the Ignatius Ajuru University of Education and also as a judge.

He said his administration established a campus of the River State University in Etche and awarded contracts for the Igbo-Etche -Rumuokwurushi Road, Olakwor-Nihi Road, and the Chokocho-Ozuzu Road that was abandoned by Ogbonna Nwuke, despite being paid for the project.

Wike said Etche would continue to be relevant in the political scheme of the State and be part of the process of discussion among stakeholders in deciding the next governor of the state.

“If I say I will do something, I will do it. Ordinarily, if Nigeria is a place of true democracy where votes count, no party can campaign in this state. Their hope is to use security?

“Have you seen second tenure governor working as we are doing? It is because of the love we have for this state. We all own this state together. All those threats of what they’ll do in 2023 are all foul talks,” he said.

The governor urged the people of Etche to continue to work in unison ahead of 2023.

PoliticsSecession Agitators Plotting Violence In South West – YAF by afroniger(op): 12:38pm On Apr 09, 2021
A group, Yoruba Appraisal Forum, has raised the alarm about an alleged plot by some elements in Yorubaland posing as agitators for Yoruba freedom, secession and self-determination to cause fresh violence and chaos in the South-West.

YAF alleged the plot by these individuals and groups to cause violence and chaos in Yorubaland was aimed at instigating bloodshed to achieve their evil plans of secession of the South-West to hasten the disintegration of the Nigeria.

It further accused the agitators of mobilising youths in the region for more violent protests and bloody confrontation with governmental authorities and security agencies.

YAF National Coordinator, Adesina Animashaun, stated these at a briefing on Thursday in Ibadan, Oyo State.

According to YAF, the group has learnt the masterminds of the recent spate of violence in some parts of South-West, particularly in Igagan and the whole of Ibarapaland, Oyo State and Shasha market in Ibadan, the state capital, are part of the plans by these nefarious elements to throw Yorubaland and Nigeria into total chaos.

The forum accused the individuals and groups claiming to be fighting for Yoruba independence of “planning to take advantage of the current security challenges in the country to wreak further havoc, starting with the South-West and expecting to instigate reprisals against Southerners in the North with the ultimate objective of destabilising the country.

“We want to warn again that the recent violence arising from the activities of these self-styled Yoruba freedom fighters, especially the rash of threats to some other Nigerians residing in Yorubaland by certain individuals, was just the onset of the large scale and widespread violence already scheduled by those planning the eventual disintegration and dismemberment of the Nigerian nation, with the South-West as their launch pad. For them, that was just the beginning!”

It also condemned the alleged current ethnic profiling of Northerners and campaigns of calumny against Nigerians of the Fulani ethnic stock, saying these were aimed at achieving their evil plans of instigating disintegration and ultimately dismembering Nigeria.

YAF called on the police authorities and security agencies to take appropriate and urgent steps to deal decisively with these elements bent on fomenting trouble in the South-West, saying they should not allow themselves to be swayed or deceived by the “disguised antics and plans of these shameless and unpatriotic self-styled freedom fighters,” in order to nip their evil plans in the bud.

The forum “sternly warned” the Yoruba youths masquerading as freedom fighters and self-determination agitators that it would vehemently oppose any group or individuals attempting to turn the South-West into a theatre of war.

“Any Yoruba who has collected money from both local and foreign forces to destabilise the South-West should retrace their steps to avoid the doom awaiting them.

“Those self-styled Yoruba freedom fighters creating tension by engaging in ethnic profiling and evil propaganda against Nigerians of other ethnic stock living in the South-West should desist.”

We are already aware of their sinister plans and we have already communicated same to the relevant security agencies for appropriate action in order to save Yorubaland from unnecessary and avoidable violence and chaos,” YAF warned.

“The 2023 general elections are just two years away and Nigerians will once again have the opportunity to exercise their franchise to vote in those they want in government and vote out those they are no longer comfortable with. All citizens should be patient and wait peacefully till that time to exercise their voting rights,” it said.

ON APRIL 7, 2021 POLITICS

Former President Goodluck Jonathan says it is difficult to find an ally after leaving seat of power.

Jonathan made this known in Bauchi, while inaugurating the 6.25Km Sabon Kaura-Jos by-pass road constructed by the Bauchi state government.

”There are people who act like they can’t eat without you when you’re in a position of power. But once you’re no longer in that position, they move on and act like you no longer exist.

”It is a very big day for me and you know why? Because it’s not easy for somebody to work with you in Nigeria then after leaving office, that person still continues with that kind of strong fraternal relationship with you.

”I have been in government for a reasonable time and I’ve served at quite a number of levels starting from deputy governor.

“Most of my experience is that after leaving office, some people just forget that you even exists.

”However, Gov. Bala Mohammed of Bauchi is a good brother and I’m quite pleased that he invited me to commission the first major project that he has completed, that’s a big honour,” he said.

He appreciated the people of Bauchi state for voting Mohammed as their governor and commended his good strides and total commitment in changing the face of the state.

Earlier, Mohammed said that the project was among the first set of legacy projects embarked upon within his first 100 days in office.

He aid that the project was awarded to an indigenous company, Habib Engineering Limited at the cost of N2.2billion and was completed within six months.

”We embraced good governance as a deliberate policy for the development of the state and in order to create the desired positive impact on the lives of the people of Bauchi state.

“Your excellency, you know very well, I did not know this culture, you taught me how to do this in your cabinet,” he said.

Mohammed, who revealed that the state government had constructed over 100kms of both urban and district roads across the Geo-political spread of the state, named the commissioned road after the former President Jonathan.

“Ladies and gentlemen, the road we are about to commission today is an example of a road in need and a road indeed and I’m glad that no one else but you, your excellency, would perform the first commissioning ceremony since I assumed office as a governor.

“Furthermore sir, I humbly seek your kind consent to recognise your indelible contribution to the progress and development of our dear nation, Bauchi state and indeed myself, to name this very road after your good name as Dr Goodluck Ebele Jonathan drive,” he said. (NAN)

PoliticsRe: Tinubu: I Chose Kano To Prove That Yoruba And Fulani Are One by afroniger: 10:28pm On Mar 29, 2021
oluwaahmed:
WRONG! OBJ was president because he served the fulani very well just as how tinubu is trying to do. Have u forgotten that OBJ rigged sheu sagari into power at the expense of his brother Awolowo(being a typical yoruba that he is)... this ensured awolowo slept into depression and the rest is history. That is why after he's 2nd presidency, he handed over to another fulani. The unfortunate thing about jagaban is that majority of the youths are woke and don't want him because we know hes solely responsible for the carnage that has befallen Nigeria. Watch how KARMA will deal decisively with him. Just watch.
I know you are not a Yoruba person in spite of your moniker. Obasanjo was smart not to have handed over to Awo because two things would have happened if he had handed over to Awolowo. (1) The rest of the country would have delegitimized that election (including you igbos) and still accused him (OBJ) of deliberately rigging his kinsman in. (2) A coup would have inevitably toppled Awolowo's government anyway, the same way Buhari later toppled his Fulani kinsman (Shagari).

If igbos cared so much about an Awolowo Presidency, why didn't they vote for him in spite of him picking an igboman (Philip Umeadi) as his VP against Shagari, and even begging Zik for a southern alliance that was rejected in 1979?

As for the youths not voting for Tinubu, that's entirely up to them. They should front their own candidate or vote for Atiku or whoever else they wish, but that's not the point of my comment that you mentioned. I was just making it clear that Tinubu's statement in Kano is not out of place for a politician that intends to court that region for votes. I repeat, no politician can become president by abusing other tribes. If you think I am wrong, ask your preferred candidate to go about abusing other tribes and see if he will go far politically.
PoliticsRe: Tinubu: I Chose Kano To Prove That Yoruba And Fulani Are One by afroniger:
I don't get why some people are criticizing Tinubu's comments in kano. He would have said Yorubas and igbos are also one if it was in igboland that he was delivering his speech. Listen, Tinubu is not a secessionist, therefore any yoruba person expecting him to be abusing other tribes is not a serious person. You can't become president of Nigeria by being overtly clannish or ethnocentric. You must embrace all tribes and make them feel as if they will have a sense of belonging under your administration. That was the persona that Obasanjo projected and made him president on three occasions.

There will be no Nigeria if Igbo are denied presidential ticket in 2023 – Ohanaeze warns

The youth wing of the apex Igbo socio-cultural body, the Ohanaeze Ndigbo has carpeted the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media, Garba Shehu, over his comments that President Muhammadu Buhari is very passionate about Nigeria’s unity.

Ohanaeze Youth Council, OYC rather maintained that Buhari’s actions and inactions pose threat to the unity of Nigeria.

The National President of OYC, Igboayaka. O Igboayaka, in a press release, described President Buhari as “a direct opposite of Nigeria’s unity”.

Dismissing as false, a statement credited to Garba that “Buhari is so passionate about Nigeria’s unity”, Igboayaka alleged that “Shehu is on a pay job, and one of the aides that is endangering the unity of Nigeria through his sycophantic service to the president.”

According to him, “Buhari has divided Nigeria more than any other president in the history of Nigeria”, describing him as “the most tribalistic President Nigeria has ever produced”.

The statement read: ” President Buhari and his cabal have violated the federal character principle with reckless abandon, leading Nigeria into the path of disintegration

“His high-handedness with tribal impunity contributed to the present ethnic crisis ravaging Nigeria.

“President Buhari has literally done everything possible to foster Nigeria’s disunity.

“What remains is the explosion of Nigeria into many countries which shall happen soon if APC and PDP deny Ndigbo an opportunity to fly their flags during 2023 presidential election.

“With the rate of insecurity and mayhem perpetrated by Buhari’s kinsmen, activities of bandits, kidnappers and Fulani killer herdsmen that are sucking the blood of innocent Nigerians on daily basis, Buhari lacks the moral justification to claim that he is passionate about Nigeria’s unity.

“In all ramifications, there will be no Nigeria if APC and PDP fail to field an Igbo person as their presidential candidate in 2023”.
