Nice one OP. But i think you should have included your source (who happens to be Omoigui), for those who don't know that the full and complete version is freely available online, to enable your audience to have a clearer picture of those events.

TonyeBarcanista:
IT WASN'T!

One of the reasons Major Isaac Adaka Boro and his militia struck the following month to seek secession is because it was felt that with the death of the Prime Minister, the agitations of the Niger Deltans(Ijaws) has suffered heavy setback, and marginalisation deepened. They assumed and rightly so that it was best to secede Ijaw from Nigeria. Unfortunately, the agitation was crushed just after 12 days after Boro surrendered.

I am yet to see where the middle belt, the Yoruba, Urhobo, and others hailed the coup.

It was indeed a huge setback!
I think some people hailed, some were indifferent, while some smelled foul play from the get go. But it wasn't long before reality dawned on most non-easterners that it was at best a selective justice. That set the stage for the follow-up by the Northerners.

Tonye as a student of history I believe you to be, can you honestly say the coup wasn't hailed as a success by all tribes?
I think initially some people hailed it until reality sunk in and other ethnicities put 2 and 2 together and smelled foul play.

Why are there more betting outlets in yolobaland than anywhere else in africa?

Why do yoloba youths like gambling?

Artisans alone in one line in Aba trump all the artisans yoloba can produce the living and the dead.

The entire world know Aba is the home of handiwork, so dont ever think of the informal sector.

Its not only Eastern youths that are gainfully employed but if you juxtapose it with West its like an elephant and an ant sitting on a seesaw.

Eastern youths run Eastern economy, Western Youths rule the gambling underworld in west
You are just throwing words around. Have you been all over AFrica to ascertain how many betting outlets are out there put together? I am sure you have sampled all the Western youths all over Nigeria to arrive at this re.t.a.rded conclusion of yours. Well, I am not surprised because that is the way you folks talk "we have the biggest dieks in Africa, we are the kingkongs of Africa", etc.

I imagine that you have probably never even travelled out of Nigeria going by the way you sound so unexposed. Eastern youths are obviously not doing well in whatever they are engaged in seeing how they are are all in a hurry to leave the region to other parts of Nigeria or becoming drugs mules and embarrassing the country all over the place, that is way worse than the betting you accusing SWestern youths of.

You need to realize that everybody can't sit in shops waiting for customers like SE youths do all over the country, or carry drugs. Yoruba youths don't have to become traders or rent shops like eboes to show that they are 'hard-working'. SW carpenters, tailors, printers, mechanics, plumbers, electricians, welders, e.t.c don't have to become sales-boys or traders that sit around in shops to prove any point to people like you.

One of the major things that interest me about youths in East and West is that

8;00 AM Eastern Youth are already in their businesses.

8;00 AM Yoloba Youths are already in beer palours.

Weekend.
5;00 PM Eastern Youths are in the joints drinking.

5;00 PM Yoloba youths are already in Bet9ja, Nairabet, Merrybet and WGB outlets waiting for final whistle.

Common contents in Eastern Youth wallets are business cards and written phone numbers.

Common sights in Yoloba youths wallets are betting coupons/tickets and randomly written numbers gotten from mad people grin grin grin grin grin
This is such a dumb comment. Are you saying Igbo youths are the only ones that are gainfully employed just because they rent shops and sit while they wait for customers? Clearly your youths aren't doing so well else they wouldn't be carrying hard-drugs all over the place. Such narrow-mindedness as that which you are displaying is nauseating to say the least. Yoruba have skilled artisans in all works of life so your statement lacks basis. Tailors, mechanics, welders, and other skilled artisans of Yoruba extraction are even more so gainfully employed than you lots, not to mention our graduate professionals. They may not be as loud and you folks but they're certainly handling their business.

The system was bound to crash at some point as there were inherent loop holes that greedy folks were taking advantage of/exploiting to rake in mad amounts of illegitimate money, thereby compromising the integrity of the whole system.
