the market days are 4, the suffix of Ukwu and Nta are not counted as days just like ordinary eke and afo.
In the Gregorian calender we have eke ukwu after every 2 weeks.

All the same jisi ike, but don't corner any of them gyls. You are warned grin grin grin grin

make i watch ManU eat Juve raw.
Onye aruru ala
But we still have two kinds of weeks in Igbo tradition - the 8 day and 4 day.

the average Nigerian needs to wake up, smell the coffee and know where its at.

the leaders are a reflection of the people.

True change starts from the individual attitude.

AAs who complain all the time about white discrimniation, tend to remain in the ghetto.

Not to say there's no color discrimination, but constant complaining while refusing to accept your own faults, keeps you down.

Took the words right out of my mouth. I mean when i think about all the stupid things i wanted to prove, i just start to laugh. It was so ridiculous. I mean i was just being childish. I guess i wanted to prove that i was a strong woman. That i don't need a man to provide for me, take of me because i can do it myself. So he just left. He said that if i want to be independent, then be independent.
So you have already experienced the result of wanting to be independent. You were only forming?  . . hehehe

It is not even race card here
I am talking about bad name.

Why not say he picked it in their african trip? No it is easier to hang it on Nigeria. i never mentioned race and i am not refering to that.

For there is no difference between racism and tribalism save for international dimension

Oh my!1 I've been so stupid!! did not see the big picture!!

4 days are prefixes for the 8th days. Makes things a lot easier to rem.
many igbo's do not know these esp this present generation.

You may not need to border much cos even the old woman in the village talks about Monday and tuesday

And if I stand correct, from my observations,

Is BIG= ukwu

SMALL= nta?
You are correct

EKE ukwu, orie nta, afo-ukwu, Nkwo-nta, Eke-nta, Orie-ukwu, afo-nta, Nkwo-ukwu

But in a four-day week it is Eke, Orie, Afo , Nkwo

Yes, you mentioned it.

Anyway you can translate the 8 day market day to english? I'm having a hard time understanding what the 8th day could possibly stand for. smiley

Wait, you saying that the 4 days is like the 8th days market days, except the 4 days week is repeated to make it 8th day market day?
Like on the fourth day, do you repeat it again?
Yea They are repeated into BIG EKE (eke-ukwu) and SMALL EKE (|eke-nta)
You have problem cos you are comparing it with the western 7-day week

I'm sorry, oga Agaba, but are this days in order?

If you don't mind me asking, what do this market day represent? A regular week day, a festival week day, or what?
yes they are in order.

They represent a regular Igbo week day. The 4-day week is mostly used.

the week days are only translated directly from english.
Okwu mbibi. Monday = monde etc

However we have our own week called the 'Izu'

Made up of 4 or 8 market days

The four day week comprises EKE, Orie, Afo, Nkwo while
the 8 day week is made up of Afo-ukwu, Afo-nta, Eke-ukwu, Eke-nta, Orie-ukwu, Orie-nta, Nkwo-ukwu na Nkwo nta.
Don't worry about this though.

They were not screaming. they made use of aircraft communication system adapted for that purpose.
