A lot of these people from Peter Obi’s camp actually do him more harm than good and they also exhibit a lot of low IQ.

Even if what the previous writer put forward about Peter Obi was false, this so-called defence does him more harm than good.

If someone invested that huge amount around 10 years ago and it has only appreciated in value by #240m then it is shameful. It is very terrible business.

Consideration inflationary trends, what N20m could buy 10 years ago cannot be afforded by #240m today.

For a state that was behind in basic amenities, what that #1.96bn could afford in 2012, #5bn cannot buy it today.

This is such simple economics but those who are blinded by cheap talk can’t see the light.

Check dollar to naira rate from 2008 to 2014 then Check the rate which the dollar gained from 2014 to 2022 you will start having sense ...

Check the rate of obi's investment gain from 2014 to 2022 . The investment is doing so well but local currency keep inflating at a high rate .

So because of that dangote should close his investments and stop building refinery? Think about that for a moment
I have attached a spreadsheet from CBN website for him

You obviously are not that literate and those 'praising this post sha are prime examples of why this country is not moving forward... people focus on irrelevant things.

The post i read earlier countered a purported story that Peter Obi stated during an interview on Arise TV in 2018 that a $20m investment in the referenced brewery is now worth $100m.

Even I was wondering how an investment could have such meteoritical rise in value over 4 years considering the economic climate during the period. If indeed that story that PO stated this is true then he needs to provide further clarity doesn't he?

And other state governments routinely invest in projects and strategic businesses. Government's also provide counterpart funding in projects - even this government- so nothing special about what Mr. Obi is saying.

What was special was the thought of an investment return of $80m - but alas true to the saying... if it sounds too good to be true ...it usually is.

Anyway good luck to you lots focusing on the past and not the present and future.
I know! That is why I am still learning.

Now can you consider this?
Freethinker87:
No, it's true. That interview was from 2018 and INTBREW shares were trading at N58.69 per share, 11X what it is worth today and Anambra's stake was valued at over $98M at N300/$ exchange rate.

It's not Obi's fault that Buharinomics destroyed the economy.

bro, all of this should be put into consideration when investing, Nigeria economy as always been poor, was there a time we had good economy? the economy has been backward before buhari became president, you need to be very careful in what you invest in, consider the economic effect on the investment in the nearest future which obi did not do, he should hv known nigeria economy is not good and take it into consideration before investing.
There is what you call NPV and IRR you look at when investing. Those are more predictive. And like I said, the investment has not done badly. If that company wasn't string, Buhari would have swallowed it like he swallowed many. Do you know how many foreign companies that closed shop or left the country under Buhari? The same happened in 1984.

Apc/ buhari government killed the local currency causing "inflation". If only you can bend down and read what @op pointed out maybe you might have little understanding how economics works .

But no you people only jump to figures and read headlines.

Us dollar is steady ....naira should be if not the bad mismanagement of the government. Reverse the naira to dollar as at 2014 then redo your math again....obi's should worth $100m he said

But you have to remember Obi invested Anambra's money in the companies he has interests or share in,
He invested in Fidelity where he was the chairman, invested in NEXT where he has interest.
All the investments is because he has share in them, another fraudulent way to milk you lots
At least we can account for the money invested. none is going into Peter's account.

From EkelediriBuhari
Read the article below, Tinubu as Governor facilitated the purchase in 2008 bu Lagos state government. However, in 2009 LASG sold all its shares via an unknown broker - African Development Fund Inc. That was from a quote in an interview by Peter Obi in 2018. The market price was around 20 - 30 naira per share I think, dollar rate was low too then. The claim was actually correct as at that moment. Some people are just trying to be clever and manipulative with this by trending an old quote, then debunk the claims and make his campaign look stupid.
You are correct. This is what freethinkers said which I believe

I think you've actually bent too far backwards here in your attempt to be "fair" to the Obi worshippers, by letting this empty shell of a "debunking" reach the first page. The OP's write-up in no way "debunks" the original claim by Obi, which is that a USD $5 million investment of public money he made was now worth USD $100 million - a claim in which the exchange value of the Naira plays absolutely no role whatsoever.

It would be one thing if Obi hadn't said anything in the first place, and people just started attacking him out of the blue, but that isn't what happened: he chose to make the claim about turning USD $5 million into USD $100 million, a claim he must have known to be a lie. Obi made the claim anyway, safe in the knowledge that his uncritical followers would magnify it ad nauseum on social media, without once stopping to ask themselves what the evidence behind it was. Peter Obi is a liar and (at best) a tax-dodging law-breaker who was exposed by the Pandora Papers investigation, and no amount of noise-making or threats by those pushing lies on his behalf online will succeed in repacking this politician without core principles or even a policy platform close to smelling Aso Rock.
Let me quote my friend freethinkers

Anambra Invested N1,955,535,247.00 for a 10% stake in SABMiller in 2012. SABMiller is a subsidiary of AB Inbev. In 2017, AB Invec decided to consolidate its stake by merging SABMiller, Intafact Beverages Limited and Pabod Breweries to create a new subsidiary in Nigeria called International Breweries PLC. This merger increased the value of INTBREW greatly, however, diluted Anambra's shares to 4.7% making her the 2nd largest single investor in INTBREW. Anambra was 1st largest single investor in SABMiller.

As of this moment, the market cap of INTBREW is N151.771B.

N151.771B x 0.047 = N7.32B

I challenge anyone to prove otherwise.
This implies that the finance commissioner lied or does not understand his onion? I did not do due diligence though because I took it that the government knows exactly what is current. We may have to come up with a query for the finance commissioner.

I strongly believe that it is a great investment. A stride above embezzled funds. He endeavored in a volatile market and that is better than looting. It is called investment and every success story can resonate with that. Tinubu looted the national coffer in broad daylight with hundred of onlookers witnessing the history bullion vans moving the national (every single Nigerian's) money into his PRIVATE residence. The impunity. There is no theft bigger than that recorded by a non-elected civilian.
Anything away from this chain of unscrupulous grandees is welcome. The people are revolting already. They need a fresh face and something away from the corrupt system.

I see no reason why a sane human being would support Tinubu if not for either selfish or tribal reasons. A man with a throng of villainous mobs on his pay list. What can he every achieve? He believes in the same old autocratic godfatherism system. Enough! That system is hurting. The entire country is sinking already.
