Nairaland / General / Jakande Estate Residents Decry Epileptic Power Supply by Agebab: 7:04pm On Apr 22
Jakande Estate residents decry epileptic power supply

Residents of Jakande Estate in Oke-Afa, Isolo, Lagos, have decried constant epileptic power supply in the neighbourhood.

Mr Yusuf Adeyemi, Chairman of the Estate Youths Parliament (EYP), said this in a meeting with the residents on Monday in Lagos.

Adeyemi lamented the poor power supply the residents were experiencing for the past one year.

He said that EYP had been engaging the management of Ikeja Electric Distribution Company (IKEDC) on the state of its power supply to the estate and they kept saying that transmission was not supplying to them.

He said that IKEDC kept disrupting the supply the Estate got in spite being on Band B, even as the estate wasn’t still getting up to the minimum hours of light it was supposed to get in a day.

“Everybody in the estate is not happy with the erratic power supply.

“Considering the heat in the estate at this point in time, the night is usually not cozy,” he said.

He, therefore, appealed to IKEDC to up their game by increasing the number of hours that power is supplied the estate.

Mr Kayode Adeshina, 1st Vice-President of the Estate, said that the landlord association in conjunction with EYP, was trying the best it could to engage IKEDC on the number of hours of light supply.

He appealed that the estate should be placed on a band where there would be constant supply.

Mr Gbajumo Ibrahim, another resident, said that the light supply to the estate was not encouraging at all.

He said that one or two hours a day of light supply was not encouraging.

Mrs Funmilayo Olatona, also a resident of the estate, lamented that the mode of supply of light in the estate had affected residents more negatively than positively.

Olatona said that some residents depended on light to meet their daily bread but that these residents were always idle whenever there was no light, and that the cost of fuel was on the high side.

The residents appealed to IKEDC to increase the hours of supply to make up for the band slated for the estate.

An entrepreneur, Mr Hammed Rauf, has trained 30 youths on glass recycling in Lagos.

Rauf, the Chief Executive Director, Hamruf Global Limited, disclose this in Lagos on Monday.

He said that the trainees were selected from the 114 youths who registered for the training.

He said that the six-week training featured two weeks of virtual training during which the
youth were trained on safety in glass, record keeping, marketing and business set-up, among others.

“The four-week physical training took place at the Hamruf Global Limited workshop where they were taught how to turn glass bottles to cups and waste glasses to products.

“They were taught how to cut glass and file the edge source for waste and so on,” he said
.
Rauf said that Hamruf Global was partnered on the project by American Corner, Ikeja, YALI RLC, Accra, Ghana, Rotary Club of Mushin Golden, Code Campus Nigeria and Crown Spring.

“My view about glass recycling and what motivated me in turning waste glasses into wealth was about my community and country at large.

“Why will there be waste when we know it is not wasted, when I know I can turn those broken bottles and waste glasses into money instead of dumping them into drainage or dumping sites and causing damage to people’s health?

“My happiness is also to make an impact by training youths to create wealth through recycling of waste glasses and let the world know that waste is not wasted,” he said.

Rauf, who said that he hoped to train 3000 youths in the next five years across the country, however, advised people to always appreciate locally-made products.

According to him, it is painful that people disregard locally-made products, no matter the quality, in preference for foreign ones.

NESG, ACF Convene Stakeholders to Address Nigeria's Energy Transition

The Nigerian Economic Summit Group (NESG) and the African Climate Foundation (ACF) have met to bring together public and private stakeholders in support of Nigeria's Energy Transition Plan.

Dr Tayo Aduloju, Chief Executive Officer, NESG, represented by the facilitator of the Sustainability Policy Commission of the NESG, Dr Eugene Itua, noted that the goal of the engagement was to move Nigeria towards cleaner energy sources, while promoting economic growth.

Dr Segun Adaju, facilitator of the Energy Policy Commission of the NESG, while presenting on the challenges of Nigerian Energy Transition Plan, noted that the plan aimed to lift 100 million Nigerians out of poverty.

He said that it would manage job losses in the oil sector, provide modern energy access to the entire population and establish Nigeria as a leader in Africa's fair energy transition.

Furthermore, he stated that some of the findings of the project revealed inadequate and high cost of financing, lack of political will and coordination among stakeholders, low Levels of Public Awareness and Enlightenment and absence of skilled Capacity.

He also noted that misalignment of public and private sector Interests, absence of holistic policy frameworks and unfavourable enabling environment and policies were some of the challenges of the Nigerian Energy Transition Project.

He restated that the incentives required from the government to the Private Sector included Favourable Monetary and Fiscal Policies, improved coordination among Stakeholders and Enabling Business Environment.

Mrs Dolapo Kukoyi, a Public-Private Stakeholder Specialist/Thematic Lead Climate Change and Green Economy of the NESG’s Sustainability Policy Commission, said that the project would ultimately bring about information sharing and policy reforms that would support interventions to drive energy transition and inclusive development.

This, she said, would unlock opportunities in the energy sector and carbon market, stimulate climate change resilience, and unlock private sector and employment opportunities, research, development, and economic growth.

She emphasized the importance of strengthening public-private engagement, whilst supporting interventions that would drive socio-economic improvement.

Dr Salisu Dahiru, Director-General, National Council on Climate Change, while presenting on the Status of Carbon Market Framework in Nigeria, highlighted the critical role of the private sector in driving the plan.

According to him, finance is the first pillar in mobilising necessary channels.

He emphasised the need for a clear leader to direct and coordinate efforts, saying that currently, there was a lack of coordination between the private and public sectors, with each trying to protect their interests.

He advocated a common narrative that would define what it would take to be a practitioner in this field, with a focus on real specialists.

Dahiru, who acknowledged that Nigeria had the capacity and policies to support the energy transition plan, expressed the full commitment of the NCCC to adopting ideas, practices, and projects that could facilitate carbon trading.

He also emphasised the importance of having a central organising body and a technical working group that would meet on a regular basis as well as representatives from all key players to support the Energy Transition Office.

Sanwo-Olu pledges infrastructure upliftment in Epe, describes Epe as little London

The Lagos State Governor, Mr Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu has reiterated his administration’s determination to harness Epe’s tourism and growth potentials through the provision of adequate infrastructure.

Mr Adeshina Odunuga, Director, Public Affairs, Lagos State Ministry of Works and Infrastructure, said this in a statement on Friday in Lagos.

Odunuga said this was disclosed by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Infrastructure Engineer Olufemi Daramola during an on-the-spot assessment of some projects that are critically significant to the administration’s THEMES+ Agenda in Epe.

"To further the administration’s commitment to take infrastructural development to all parts of the State, Mr Governor, Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu has reiterated his administration’s determination to harness Epe’s tourism and growth potentials through the provision of adequate infrastructure," Daramola said.

According to him, this is part of Sanwo-Olu's determination to extend infrastructure development to every part of the State.

He said that the Governor decided to prioritise the rehabilitation, reconstruction and provision of essential infrastructures in Epe, to promote economic development and improve the living conditions of the people.

According to him, a key quality of this administration is the policy of inclusiveness, not leaving any part of the State behind and that is why we have come to see for ourselves the road infrastructure and relocation projects that will boost and improve local socio-economic activities and complement the growth potential of Epe.

Daramola said, as a government, we are poised to touch every nook and cranny of the State and we are resolute in our determination to extend development to inner parts of the metropolis.

Some of the Projects visited are Marina – Obafemi Awolowo Road - Epe LGA Junction (Ita Marun) [Marina - Awolowo Road with a Dual carriageway and the relocation of the Marine Police Post at Epe Marina Road and the Eti-Osa/Lekki/Epe Expressway Phase 2b amongst others.

He said the construction of this road would improve road connectivity in Epe.

According to him, Marina – Obafemi Awolowo Road is a major strategic infrastructure for this administration in that it actualizes our desire to harness the tourism potential of Epe and indeed to stimulate the growth of other satellite settlements within the division.

"On a visit to the part of the Eti-Osa/Lekki/Epe Expressway Phase 2b road project, the Special Adviser agreed that commuting to Epe from Victoria Island had taken a new shape as work on the project was steadily progressing.

" Also, residents along the Lekki - Epe corridor have started to heave sighs of relief as the reconstruction of the world class Expressway nears completion.

"What is more, there has been an astronomic increase in the volume of economic transactions within the axis and the resultant pressure on the road, especially with the introduction of the dedicated lane for articulated vehicles has reduced

"With the commitment to deliver this project by the end of this year, the Eti-Osa/Lekki/Epe Expressway will reduce traffic gridlock, ease the stress of movement by motorists and commuters, improve public health and enhance socio-economic activities in Epe Division," he said.

INC condemns raid on Clark’s country home

The Ijaw National Congress (INC), has condemned the raid by the Nigerian Army on the country home of Ijaw leader, Chief Edwin Clark in Kiagbodo, Burutu Local Government Area of Delta.

This is contained in a statement by Prof Benjamin Okaba, President, INC in Abuja on Saturday.

Okaba said the raid by the military on the country home of 97 years old Clark, the leader of Pam-Niger Delta Forum (PANDEF), came to the INC as a rude shock.

He said this was because the elder statesman only lives a life of service to his community and country and wondered why he would be treated with such disrespect.

According to him, the raid, which Clark himself called an “invasion” occurred on the March, 23, as the said they were tracking the fleeing suspected in the recent murder of soldiers at Okuama, Delta.

“The search, which was conducted in the most arduous and harrowing manner, came with harassment and physical torture of relatives, aides and other occupants of the compound.

“The property was attacked from the air, land and water. So shocking, because not even Enscobar, Anini or the dreaded Oyenusi of old were treated in such gruesome manner”.

The INC president recalled that on Sept. 4, 2018, a similar raid was conducted on the home of Clark, former minister of Information, in Abuja.

He added that just like the current one, nothing incriminating was found, even then.

“The INC is at loss why a 97 years old man who had lived a life of service to his community and country would be treated with such ignominy, disrespect and contempt.

“Pa EK Clark has never been a violent person. He is not known to own a catapult or a jackknife in all his life.

“He is rather a lawyer, crusader for justice, equity and fairness across Nigeria. He speaks for the voiceless and powerless. An incurable defender of the defenseless”, he said.

Okaba said it was therefore the position of the INC that the actions by the Nigerian establishment was not accidental or based on wrong intelligence as they want it to be.

According to him, to the INC, these are deliberate actions to silence, cow, intimidate, cajole one of the loudest and credible voices in the South/South and the Niger Delta Region.

“The INC came to the conclusion, after observing that not a single person in the other regions of Nigeria with such social standing and connections to their people like EK Clark have been subjected to such humiliating and tortuous treatment.

“Not even those that came out boldly to identify themselves as friends and ransom collectors for kidnappers and bandits.

“These actions by the Nigerian State are totally unacceptable. Nigeria belongs to all of us.

“Nobody should be treated as a second class citizen, not the least a man of honour like EK Clark, a revered and respected Izon icon”, he said.

While insisting that a public apology be rendered to Clark and the military/he said federal government should take responsibility for fixing all damage caused during the raid and cautioned against a repeat.

"Virtually,  all Discos are our partners, we  also supply meter to Liberia,  Sierra Leone and  others African countries, but the volume Nigeria needed supersedes any volume in Africa," he said

As the nation’s sole Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) in meter production, he said that MOMAS is poised to meet Nigeria’s metering needs while advocating for continued government patronage to support its investment in the country’s industrial development.

Over 100m Nigerians food insecure, NESG calls for national response

Lagos, March 23, 2024 (NAN) The Nigerian Economic Summit Group (NESG), a private-sector think tank, has called for a national food systems approach to address the current food crisis in Nigeria.

This is contained in a policy brief tilted, `` Status of Food Security: Dimensioning the Crisis, Policy Options, and Strategic Responses’’ and issued by the Acting Head, Strategic Communications and Advocacy, NESG, Mr Ayanyinka Ayanlowo, on Saturday in Lagos.

The document which outlines urgent measures to address the current food crisis in Nigeria, is aimed to develop a comprehensive approach to alleviate hunger and offer practical solutions.

Ayanlowo stressed that Nigeria was in a significant food security crisis, with over 100 million people classified as food insecure.

This, he said, was due to a combination of factors, including rising food prices, conflict and climate change.

``In January 2024, Nigeria's food inflation surged to 35.41 per cent from 33.9per cent in December 2023.

``The number of food-insecure Nigerians increased significantly, from 66.2 million in Q1 2023 to 100 million in Q1 2024 (WFP, 2024), with 18.6 million facing acute hunger and 43.7 million Nigerians showing crisis-level or above crisis-level hunger coping strategies as of March 2024.

``This unprecedented crisis demands immediate humanitarian, social protection, and food systems responses.

``Despite a contraction in the Nigerian Agriculture Sector in 2023, resulting in reduced productivity, the nation is fortunate to face no climatic risks of famine or drought, as no part of Nigeria is categorised as High Risk or Moderate Risk and Deteriorating,’’ he said.

He said that a national food systems approach would address the crisis.

He said the approach to address the crisis includes measures to improve land security, soil security, seed security, mechanisation, harvest security, storage and post-harvest logistics security, and access to credit for smallholder farmers.

He also called for improved governance of the food security response to include strengthening the National Food Security Council and establishing a National Hunger Response.

Additionally, Ayanlowo emphasised the need for accountability in the food security response.

According to him, this includes establishing clear performance indicators for key institutions and holding risk owners accountable.

He therefore urged the Federal Government to adopt its recommendations and collaborate with stakeholders to address the food security crisis.

The leaders of De Renaissance Patriots Foundation, an indigenous group, have met in Lagos on its mission to lead a better state for indigenes.

Mr Bashir Adefaka, Media and Publicity Consultant, in a statement on Monday said that the leadership of De Renaissance Patriots Foundation was hosted by Chairman of their Board of Trustees, Prof. Adele Jinadu, on Sunday, March 17.

He said that the meeting was the first to happen after the indigenous group had made four successful media outings, wherein its mission to lead a better state for indigenes was stated.

“Retired Maj.-Gen. Tajudeen Olanrewaju, Alternate Chairman Board of Trustees, who led other trustees and members of the steering committee meeting, said the leadership provided by Prof. Jinadu had become inevitable.

“This is because the struggle for retrieval of Lagos State is one that will not be easy but a must-do”.

In his remarks, President of De Renaissance Patriots Foundation, Prince Adelani Adeniji-Adele, thanked Jinadu for receiving members of the steering committee and appreciated his keen interest in the affairs of indigenes of Lagos.

“Governance of Lagos State is less than stellar and only the passion of an indigene can do the right things.

“We enjoin you to avail the group your wealth of experience as a public servant, an academic, an administrator and as an indigene of note in order to succeed,” Adeniji-Adele said.

Another Trustee of the socio-cultural group, Mr Gbadebo Dallas, took 80-year-old Jinadu down memory lane of their youth days, where education, good environment, sterling leadership qualities were the order of the day.

Dallas regretted the dearth of these and hoped that with indigenes playing significant controlling roles in the state, a revival of the good old days was possible.

Responding, Jinadu said: “No one is too old for a cause like this because we are all affected by the marginalisation, deprivation and persecution to which the Lagos State indigenes have been subjected”.

SGBV cases still rampant in Lagos communities – NGO

Women’s Right and Health Project (WRAHP), a Non-governmental Organisation (NGO), has warned that cases of Social and Gender Based Violence (SGBV) are still rampant in Lagos communities.

Its Executive Director, Bose Ironsi, disclosed this in Lagos on Wednesday during a one-day stakeholders’ dialogue on SGBV for 60 traditional rulers and key influencers of opinion.

Ironsi said that WRAHP, in partnership with Canada Fund For Local Initiative, put on the Stakeholders’ dialogue to address SGBV in Alimosho Local Government Area (LGA).

She said girls and women are inappropriately affected by all forms of violence which include sexual assault and harassment, domestic, verbal, emotional and gender-based violence in homes and societies.

“Today, WHO estimated that globally about 1 in 3 (30%) of women have been subjected to either physical and/or sexual violence in their lifetime.

“Community risk is increased by lack of proper understanding of interventions for problems like SGBV.

Alimosho has the highest incidence of domestic violence in Lagos, especially sexual and gender-based violence.

“According to data made available by the Attorney General of Lagos State, the Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency (DSVA) received over 4,800 cases from September 2021 to July 2022 with Alimosho recording the highest number of cases for both adults and children.

He added, however, that 50 per cent of the reports were made after 10 years of the subsistence of the marriage,” she said.

Ironsi said that WRAHP, through her project, titled “Improving Gender Equality and Protection from SGBV for Women and Girls in Lagos State through capacity building, awareness-raising and psychosocial support services”, with support from Canada Fund For Local Initiatives (CFLI), is working to prevent SGBV among women and girls in Alimosho LGA.

She said that the NGO also wants to increase access for survivors to quality care and psychosocial support services.

The Executive Director said that WRAHP has successfully built the capacity of 30 Community ambassadors and champions from different community structures which include, but not limited to, Youth clubs, faith-based organisations, women’s and men’s associations to effectively report cases of SGBV in their communities.

She said that this dialogue was part of our effort to bring together 60 traditional rulers and key influencers of opinion in Alimosho LGA to have a better understanding of the Lagos State SGBV Law, prohibiting all forms of SGBV and to develop effective strategies to enforce the Lagos State law in each of the six LCDAs in Alimosho LGA.

She said that discussions surrounding stakeholders’ effort in addressing SGBV in Alimosho will also be discussed.

A traditional ruler, Oba Kolawole Ajani Egundupe, said that the NGO had enlightened him on various issues and topics surrounding SGBV.

Egundupe said that it now behoves on him to go and preach it in his kingdom.

He commented WRAHP for the bold steps it embarked upon to bring SGBV to the barest minimum.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that a legal expert had earlier enlightened the participants on how to strengthen the role of stakeholders, Lagos State SGBV laws and how to implement them.

NAN also reports that there was a panel session on stakeholders’ efforts in addressing SGBV in Alimosho and adoption of communique to protect women and girls against SGBV in Alimosho LGA.

Events / His Royal Highness Eze (engr) Cosmas Akanwa Onyejiji, Obodonweze 1 Of Aguneze Ah by Agebab: 4:56pm On Jan 30
HIS ROYAL HIGHNESS EZE (ENGR.) COSMAS AKANWA ONYEJIJI, OBODONWEZE 1 OF AGUNEZE AHIARA CONFERS NZE TITLE ON THREE SONS OF AGUNEZE AHIARA AUTONOMOUS COMMUNITY.
To mark the second year of his recognition by the Imo state Government of Nigeria, on the 27 of January 2024, HRH, Eze (Engr.) Cosmas Akanwa Onyejiji, Obodonweze 1 of Aguneze Ahiara conferred the ancient Nze title on three sons of Aguneze namely Sir Peter Akujobi Amaefule, Chief Callistus Okonkwo and Mr. Mathias Uzoaru.
Nze title is an ancient traditional title in Igbo land conferred only on men with honour and integrity. The word Nze is believed to have been derived from the word “Nzerem” which means one who abstains. One who abstains from evil deeds and wrong doings that would offend the gods of the land. One who avoids “imeruala or nso ala”. Imerula or nso ala literally means contamination of the land. In Igbo mythology and traditional religion, the land is considered sacred and all are expected to respect the sacredness of the land (Earth) which also includes ensuring justice, fairness, equity and good conscience. To ensure the sacredness of the land, there is “ omenala” which means the tradition and culture of the people. This embodies the way of life of the people, from language to food, birth rites, marriage rites, burial rites, justice system among others. Any act against these rites may be considered as imeru ala ( sacrilege) and there are restitutions to be made .
The Nze participates in ensuring the sacredness of the tradition and culture of the people along with the traditional ruler. The Nze title is not awarded, the people appoint their Nze who must be a man of integrity, honest and forthright. Upon appointment by the people, the person is presented to the Eze and his cabinet, who now screen the candidate to ensure he is a man of integrity and one with the ability to sustain the sacredness of the land through justice and fairness. The Nze represents the Eze among his people and is the representative of the people in the traditional cabinet. He ensures justice and fairness among his people. He also participates in the coronation of a new Eze. These underscores the importance of conferment of Nze title on three sons of Aguneze along with their wives who were conferred with the title of lolo by Ugo eze Catherine Onyejiji.
The event started with the blessing of the items for the conferment by the parish Priest of St Mathias Catholic Church Aguneze reverend father Honorius Jimanze, who prayed God to guide the new Nzes as they sustain the culture and tradition of the people in contemporary times. The traditional rulers of Lude Ahiara, HRH , Eze CY Uwaoma (PhD), Ude 11 of Lude and HRH Eze Remigius ihejieme, Emere1 of Nnemere Mpam Ekwerazu participated in the conferment of the titles.
HRH, Obodonweze 1 of Aguneze noted during the conferment that sir Peter Akujobi Amaefule who was conferred the title of nze akaraugo 1 od Aguneze , is a knight of the Catholic church and also a Jerusalem Pilgrim (JP). He reminded him that his Christian life is an assurance that he would join him in ensuring justice and fair play in the land. He further enjoined all the new nzes to always remember the high honour they are being bestowed with as they wear the insignia of their office and perform their duties. While the traditional ruler of Lude Ahiara HRH Eze CY Uwaoma PhD advised the newly conferred Nzes to ensure peace, justice and progress while rebuking evil in order to succeed as Nzes.
In their response, Sir Peter Akujobi Amaefule, nze Akara ugo 1 of Aguneze expressed gratitude to God , HRH, Obodonweze 1 and the community for finding them worthy as Nze. They promised to uphold the culture and tradition of the land while following the footsteps of the traditional ruler (Obodonweze 1) in being a true representative of the people, a man with fear and respect for almighty God.
Aguneze is one of the towns that make up Ahiara ofo iri and oral tradition has it that Aguneze is the first son of Ahiara. The first son holds significant leadership and traditional roles in Igbo Culture. The quality of Nze from Aguneze means a lot to the entire Ahiara people. Aguneze Ahiara is an autonomous community in the Ahiazu Mbaise local government area of Imo state Nigeria.

Crime / Opinion Who Will Save Rural Electrification Agency (rea)? by Agebab: 4:49pm On Jan 01
OPINION

WHO WILL SAVE RURAL ELECTRIFICATION AGENCY (REA)?

Report of many frauds Involving Ahmad Salihijo Ahmad at Rural Electrification Agency, REA

In the last four years of Ahmad Salihijo Ahmad's reign as the. Managing Director of Rural Electrification Agency, REA, the latter has suffered several losses, money wise to the light-fingered helmsman.

Salihijo through various underhand means appropriated to himself several monies belonging to REA, and a unit in the agency, Nigeria Electrification Project, NEP.

NEP is known to attract loans from development banks including World Bank and African Development Bank, and under Salihijo's watch to the tune of a billion dollar for power generation to disadvantaged Nigerian communities.

It's no news that electricity has remained elusive in nearly all those places.

What is news is that Salihijo has corruptly enriched himself with those loans by awarding contracts to unqualified cronies' companies and himself.

This claim is exampled by the N200m contract he is on the brink of awarding eN Consulting & Projects, a company he holds significant interest in, the report of which found its way to the media.

That is that. What is equally fraudulent is that SALIHIJO owns 37 bank accounts, all linked to his Biometric Verification Number, two of which are in his mother's name, a Director in National Board For Technical Education.

The said multiple accounts have many discrepancies in the account names and his date of birth, and are simply covers to conceal the proceeds of his corruption. Find enclosed details of those accounts.

What is also criminal is that only two of all those accounts Salihijo claims to have and filled in the Asset Declaration Form he last submitted with the Code of Conduct Bureau.

Crime which is Salihijo’s second nature is also exemplified by a N1.2bn fraud in REA he oversaw between March and June, 2023.

The money was siphoned off REA's accounts in tranches, first, through 8 staff in the agency's account department in a devious scheme involving the Director of Fund, Abubakar Sambo, and his Technical Service counterpart, Engr Barka Sajor.

During the period, various sums were paid into the personal bank accounts of the 8 staff, with the narrations for the payments bordering on project supervisions and others that fall outside the job roles of the temporary recipients.

The staff, namely: Asuni Adejoke Aminat, Musa Karaye, Ogunjobi Folorunsho, Okoli Henrietta, Pada Emmanuel Titus, Shehu Abdullahi Laure, Usman Kwakwa Ahmed, and Yekeen Bola Nurudeen were conduits of Ahmad, Sajor and Sambo through whose bank accounts the monies were laundered.

Proofs of Salihijo being behind the thievery from REA accounts is herewith attached as with print-out of Whatsapp messages he exchanged with Director of Fund in which he gave instructions on disbursement of the N1.2bn loot.

For clarity sake, the personal account of Sambo, the Director of Fund, with Zenith, account number: 2083588954, was in receipt of several payments from the said eight staff.

They also paid into that of their colleague’s, Usman Kwakwa Ahmed with Zenith ( 2083588954) and GTBank (1003477985).

Also found to have hands in the money trail are two persons not in the agency: Adudu Yusuf Mohammed and Dan mama Mohammed. Adudu's account with FCMB( 3221509018) and that of Mohammed's First Bank, also received some of the ill-gotten monies.

Same as that of Mr Olaniyi Netufo, an Executive Director in the organisation.

Mr Olaniyi Netufo actively participated in the fraud under reference by receiving the proceeds of the fraud both in his private account with following details: “Olaniyi Alaba Netufo” Zenith Bank with Account No. 1005738420 totalling a sum of N6,500,000 (Six Million, Five Hundred Thousand Naira) that was paid into his account by Usman Kwakwa Ahmed in tranches; and by proxy, into the First Bank Plc Account No. 2005602719 of NECOL (Nigeria) Ltd, a private limited liability company he maintains a majority shareholding of 40% in, despite his current status as a public officer. Copy of the shareholding of the said company .

In June of the same year, Salihijo also superintended N300m fraud.

The money was siphoned under the guise of a training programme that was not intended to take place until the fraud was exposed by the media.

In spite, the attempt to cover up by doing the training weeks after the scandal, the training contract awarded Braintask Value Resources Limited and Cess Assist Resources Limited is against procurement law on many grounds.

There is no Certificate of No Objection from the Bureau of Public Procurement in respect of the contract, while the contract sums, N139m each to Braintask Value Resources and Cess Assist Resources is beyond the threshold of contract sum the law allows the agency’s leadership to award, which is not more than N9m.

The N139m contract awarded each of the firms is even above what the procurement law permits Parastatal Tender Board(PTB) to award. PTB is only empowered to award contract below N99m and in that case, it is only the Ministerial Tender Board that is qualified to approve those contracts.

For other two recipients: Airan Construction & Supplies, and Tungsten Project Nigeria Limited, they were paid N24.4m and N6.1m respectively by REA for doing nothing.

In addition, both Airan Construction & Supplies, and Tungsten Project Nigeria Limited had no contract award.

It was all an intrigue to clean out all the remaining 2022 allocation in the agency’s coffer in June, 2023.

But for a private company, Donnington Nigeria Limited, who took him to court for alleged money laundering despite petitioned, many agencies and committees of the National Assembly in charge of fighting corruption have
refused to lift a finger against him.

Neither is he facing investigation much less prosecution.
