PoliticsMore Reactions Trails Lai Mohammed’s Comment On Buhari’s WAEC Certificate by AgencyReport(op):
Nigerians are calling for the sack of President Muhammadu Buhari after a video of his minister begging them to forgive him (Buhari) over his controversial WAEC certificate, surfaced on the internet.

In the video sighted by Igbere TV on Friday, Lai Mohammed, Minister of Information and Culture, said the President doesn't know where he kept his credentials, technically admitting that Buhari had been parading a forged certificate.

According to him, it's been over 53 years since President Buhari finished his secondary education, therefore, it was not possible for him to still keep all his credentials complete till date.

But the explanation didn't go down well with Nigerians, as many took to Twitter to call on the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal (PEPT) to sack the nation's number one citizen, using the hash tag #SackBuhari.

This is even as fans of Alhaji Atiku Abubakar took the opportunity the situation presented, to call on the Presidential Tribunal and the judiciary to declare Atiku winner, using the hash tag #AtikuIsComing.

Igbere TV reports that Atiku, a former vice-president (1999-2007), was the candidate of main opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the February 23, 2019 presidential election.

He is currently challenging the declaration of President Buhari and the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) as the winner of the disputed presidential poll at the PEPT.

PoliticsRobert Mugabe: See What Atiku Said About Zimbabwe's Ex-President by AgencyReport(op):
Nigeria’s former vice-president, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar has reacted to the death of Robert Mugabe, Zimbabwe's ex-president, Igbere TV reports.

Igbere TV had previously reported that the former African leader passed away on Friday at 95 in Singapore, where he was undergoing treatment.

Incumbent President of Zimbabwe, Emmerson Mnangagwa, confirmed the death of the first post-independent president of the country.

“It is with the utmost sadness that I announce the passing on of Zimbabwe's founding father and former President, Cde Robert Mugabe”, Mnangagwa wrote on Twitter.

Reacting, the 2019 presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), described the late Mugabe as a “hero of the African liberation struggle”, even though he had his flaws.

While condoling with the people of Zimbabwe, Atiku called on African leaders to learn from the successes of the late Zimbabwean leader, even as they also learn from his “inevitable mistakes.”

“Robert Mugabe was a hero of the African liberation struggle. No man is perfect and he had his flaws, but nobody can take this fact away from him: That he loved his country and its people, and took practical and patriotic steps to improve their well being.

“Mr. Mugabe gave Zimbabwe freedom, which in itself is commendable. Yet, he gave them something greater than freedom. He gave them education. His razor like focus on investing in education resulted in Zimbabwe having the highest adult literacy rate in Africa.

“One can even say he emancipated the minds of Zimbabweans. Other African leaders can learn from him in this regard.

“As he passes away aged 95, Robert Mugabe lived a long life and cast an even longer shadow. His footsteps in the sands of times are indelible even as they are very far reaching.

“As African leaders, we have a lot to learn from his many successes, and even more to learn from his inevitable mistakes.

My condolences to the government and people of Zimbabwe. My heartfelt sympathies to his family. May his soul rest in peace and may God forgive his sins”, Atiku wrote on Twitter.

PoliticsXenophobia: Rwanda Speaks On Withdrawing From World Economic Forum by AgencyReport(op): 10:56am On Sep 04, 2019
Government of Rwanda has denied reports that it suspended its participation in this year’s World Economic Forum due to the ongoing xenophobic attacks on foreigners in South Africa, Igbere TV reports.

Reports had it on Tuesday that three countries, including Rwanda, had withdrawn from the annual meeting taking place today, Sept. 4, in Capetown, S’Africa due to the killings in the host country.

The World Economic Forum is the International Organization for Public-Private Cooperation. The Forum engages the foremost political, business and other leaders of society to shape global, regional and industry agendas.

But reacting, Mrs Clare Akamanzi, Chief Executive Officer, Rwanda Development Board (RDB), said the President not attending the event has nothing to do with what is going on in South Africa.

Mrs Akamanzi revealed that, even though the President was not attending the summit in person, a strong delegation (including herself), had been sent to the event to represent the country.

“President Kagame is unable to attend WEFA this year, but this has absolutely nothing to do with what you are insinuating in this totally misleading tweet”, she said.

“The Government of Rwanda has a strong delegation actively participating at @wef Africa. This includes the Minister of ICT @MusoniPaula, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs @onduhungirehe, Deputy DG of Rwanda Airports Company and myself”, Akamanzi added.

Igbere TV reports that the Rwanda Development Board (RDB) is charged with facilitating private sector led development through increased investments and exports.

PoliticsWhy We Closed Nigeria-Benin Border Without Prior Notice - FG by AgencyReport(op): 5:35pm On Aug 28, 2019
The Federal Government has attempted to explain the reason why the Nigeria-Benin border was shut down by its agents without prior notice, Igbere TV reports.

Igbere TV had reported the closing of the Nigeria-Benin Republic border, leaving many wanting to travel in and out of the country stranded (see video).

According to the Federal Government, the country’s border with Benin Republic was partially closed following the massive smuggling activities in the area.

This was disclosed by President Muhammadu Buhari during a meeting with his Beninois counterpart, Patrice Talon, on the margins of the Seventh Tokyo International Conference for African Development (TICAD7), in Yokohama, Japan on Wednesday.

A statement issued by Femi Adesina, Special Adviser to the President (Media & Publicity) on Wednesday, said President Muhammadu Buhari ordered the closure following the heavy smuggling of banned products especially of rice, taking place on that corridor.

He said the smuggling of rice threatened the self-sufficiency already attained due to his administration’s agricultural policies.

“Now that our people in the rural areas are going back to their farms, and the country has saved huge sums of money which would otherwise have been expended on importing rice using our scarce foreign reserves, we cannot allow smuggling of the product at such alarming proportions to continue,” he said.

He said the limited closure of the country’s western border was to allow Nigeria’s security forces develop a strategy on how to stem the dangerous trend and its wider ramifications.

Responding to the concerns raised by President Talon on the magnitude of suffering caused by the closure, President Buhari said he had taken note and would reconsider reopening in the not too distant future.

He, however, disclosed that a meeting with his counterparts from Benin and Niger Republics would soon be called to determine strict and comprehensive measures to curtail the level of smuggling across their borders.

Earlier, President Talon had said he called on the Nigerian President as a result of the severe impact the closure of the Nigerian border was having on his people.

President Buhari also received in audience, President Cyril Ramaphosa of South Africa during which issues of common bilateral relations especially, the killings of Nigerians in South Africa, were discussed.

“The matter will be further examined during the Nigerian leader’s official visit to Pretoria in October 2019”, the statement from the Presidency further revealed.

PoliticsBuhari In Japan: IPOB Members Fly Into Japan To Protest (More Photos) by AgencyReport(op): 10:18am On Aug 26, 2019
Igbere TV has obtained exclusive photos of members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) flying into Japan ahead of President Muhammadu Buhari’s arrival into the country.

We had reported that IPOB leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, gave an order for his members to attack the Nigerian leader who is participating in the 7th Tokyo International Conference on African Development.

Kanu in a letter obtained by Igbere TV, had written to his Imperial Majesty of the most esteemed and revered Throne of Chrysanthemum, Emperor Naruhito of Japan, informing him of the plan.

He said the IPOB will not only disgrace but arrest President Muhammadu Buhari who allegedly died long ago in January 2017 and buried in Saudi Arabia.

According to him, IPOB planned campaign of public arrest of the “impostor” in Tokyo is directed at Jubril Al-Sudani “the fake President of Nigeria”, not Buhari who he said died long ago in January 2017 and buried in Saudi Arabia.

“The Japanese authorities we know are best placed to unravel and confirm the true identity of Jubril”, Kanu stated.

Members of the IPOB are seen flying into Japan from different part of Asian countries, ahead of Buhari’s arrival, in exclusive photos obtained by Igbere TV on Monday.
