Car TalkRe: NADDC Director Jelani Aliyu Challenges Mechanics To Embrace Technology by agitator:
Sorry for late response, I saw your post at 8:30am but was too busy.

Yes, it is done in most countries.

Innoson you mentioned cannot sell his cars in Europe and America except it passes their safety tests. The same applies to North America.

European cars need to meet American Standards, same applies to American cars being shipped to Europe.

Crash test are done, to see how the vehicle can withstand impact at various speeds. Note the manufacturers provide the vehicles which are used for the tests. So, before a manufacturer presents his vehicle for such tests, he is sure of the product.

But in Nigeria anything can be shipped into Nigeria. Who tested Innoson vehicles? Where are the crash reports. huh huh huh

On the partnership, it is a welcome development. I am aware DICON do a lot of fabrication, R & D , etc. because they have the facilities. Innoson can leverage DICON's fabrication experience to build purely Nigerian designed engines. This will then make it possible for them to manufacture vehicles with 80% Nigerian components. Forex being used to import those components will be saved.

However, It will also be good to hear that corporate organisations are partnering with Institutions of learning, like Universities and Polytechnics, to do research as is done in the advanced countries.

The new materials used for phones, vehicles etc are as a result of such research.

Most of the recent technological breakthroughs we have been enjoying is through such partnerships.

The appointment like I mentioned before is useless, because the Nigerian government just brought a designer to do bureaucratic work unrelated to his field or passion.

Now you mentioned it, he should have been brought to work with DICON who are into fabrication which would have benefited this partnership. wink wink wink

Nairaland GeneralSri Lanka Saves Pod Of Stranded Whales by agitator(op):
Some 20 pilot whales were pushed back into the sea by sailors and locals after becoming stranded off the north-eastern coast of Sri Lanka.

Several members of the Sri Lankan navy and city residents rescued a pod of the sea mammals from the island's beach near the historic city of Trincomalee on Wednesday.

A Navy spokesman, Chaminda Walakuluge, said people joined together to push the whales back into deeper waters after they washed up on the Sampur coast near the port.

Ikpeazu said it was within people's right to do remembrance day.

I want to describe Mr Jelani's appointment as a round square in a round hole.

This is one of the accurate appointment this administration has made, just hope they will give him the decency of being independent and in control of the council.

NOTE; i am Igbo.
Please can you explain "a round square in a round hole" in common man language. thanks wink wink wink

I recall that OBJ brought a Nigerian Prof from a Japanese University to head NITDA. Let us keep watching. This will be a test case for future reference.
This your story is comparing apple and oranges. The prof was teaching, there is nothing wrong in bringing him to apply is knowledge into NITDA.

It won't be a problem if Nigeria is manufacturing cars and the guy is brought to coordinate the designing aspect. This body was just created to do nothing. What Nigeria needs is a national body that looks into safety of cars, set acceptable standards, etc as is done in other countries, or regions.

I am not against bringing in Nigerian experts in diaspora cool cool cool

Perhaps, to be relevant to the Nigerian environment where we repair and repair second-hand vehicles rather than buy brand new cars. undecided
So that is how other countries developed, by bringing back their intellectuals and using them to head boards. undecided undecided undecided

I was expecting the government to make some investment or encourage investors by giving them concessions if they can bring back Nigerian experts in diaspora to work in the companies. This would have ultimately translated to knowledge transfer for those at home. cool cool cool

Is it not demeaning for a designer to come back to head a board that has nothing to do with designing? The white experts will reject such jobs outright without a second thought, because it will kill their passion and career. wink wink wink

Can you imagine?
1. They were kidnapped on the day of physics paper. And they have that large number of only female student writting WAEC in chibok village, not state capital (Maiduguri) even in developed and populated states/city like Kano, Lagos, PH, Ibadan etc physics students (female) can't be that much for physics paper.

2. No specific number of kidnapped physics student from the media........though, they all report 200+

3. Report has it that they were all/ 95% Christian and all forced to be Muslim. Video was released within 2 weeks of kidnapped, and those girls were reciting Arabic fluently. It is not possible for a non-muslim to mimickly recite Arabic fluently within shortest time of the released video.

4. I believe there was a chibok girls student kidnap, but the story/report has k-leg from day one.
No single kidnap, just an APC movie being played out. undecided undecided undecided

You have migrated this your zombieism to a higher pedestal.

Chibok is a semi urban community and not a rural village. Even a higher primary school pupil from schools in those areas communicate in basic English language, talk less of an SS3 student writing WAEC, which is a regional exams set in English language only. Were they supposed to write or have written the ones they wrote in Hausa or Fulfude language? Were they taught Newton's law of gravity and other Physics theories in Hausa also, if so, show me one Physics textbook written in Hausa language.
I believe they wrote junior WAEC before they were promoted to SS classes, was that written in Hausa also?

So they forgot how to speak all the English they learnt in school during their 3yrs of 'captivity'? Even a baby will laugh at you ridiculously, do those girls look like people kept in isolation and are looking so healthy and well kept, do they not converse among themselves?

Guy I dey shame for you oo!!
