Xda59: This is what the building design code should look like in such areas prone to to flooding but our ignorance and backwardness won't let us. You don't want people to build houses again, and the area in focus it is not rivers overflowing their banks, but people building houses across natural drainage ways, thereby trapping the rain waters. If you go to civilized countries nobody build across natural water channels, even when such occurs they have a well defined drainage system. Yenagoa is surrounded by rivers which hardly overflow their banks, except for the devastating flood of 2012. |

transient123: Ecological funds nko, stolen by most governors. This has nothing to do with ecological funds. Most Nigerians are not civilized in the real sense of the word. You see educated people, graduates building houses without leaving space for drainage. Some even build across natural flood water paths. |

Lots of people are depressed... Been reading, but today I saw first hand the pains in the society. I could not cry, I could only wonder. WHAT IS HAPPENING

walley21: It's as if Nigeria just plunged into this Chaos 2years ago.The dishonesty in the heads of Nigerians to themselves and the Nation is unbelievable. How can Jonathan be blameless when he looted the national treasury and allowed looting without prosecuting anyone? How Can he be blameless when Boko haram went from carrying matchette to the use of armoured tanks and bombs? How can he be blameless when power sector crippled totally in his 6yrs in office. People are unbelievable. Someone spent $25B on power, and others, all blame is Jonathan. I hope blaming Jonathan will improve your life, provide food, amenities, etc. |

shapman: electricity is the bedrock of innovation for technological advancement, as long as we lack that factor in Nigeria then we will be at a stand still. it is that simple. fact Nigerians just echo what ever one person says "buy 9ja to grow 9ja." The question is how many mainstream tech products are manufactured in Nigeria? practically none. It is a well know fact that builders prefer Nigerian electrical cables to import cables. People still purchase them even as they are more expensive. The same applies to the current ceiling material - PVC. People prefer to buy Nigerian made which is more expensive than the Chinese product. When you have quality products people will buy, but when you quality is not up to the imported and you are selling at same price, nobody will buy. |

12inches1: And the people with the ideas came with it from heaven right? The gunpowder used by Europeans was it not idea stolen from Chinese? My brother you are correct. It is not far fetched, just look at all the cars, jeeps and buses almost all similar designs. It is only Iphone that have been suing others for copying their designs. I wonder how many such design cases can be resolve for cars. |

LaRochelle: I look forward to the century that Nigeria would restrict social media sites and create her own.
By the way, do you know why China would continue growing? Because they usually consume Made in China goods and services, among other things...but my poor Nigeria . Some times we just talk because we hear others and follow follow to echo the same. Where are the made in Nigeria goods? Can we mention Nigerian manufactured technologies, e.g. electronics alternatives, cars, etc. which are available and Nigerians preferred foreign imports. Also from the examples given all the time, the chinese copies of brand name products are sometimes three times less than the original product. Please can you mention any untested Nigerian product that its price is ridiculously less than the foreign one. |

9jakohai: And where do you expect the DISCOS to get money to make things better?
When banks won't loan them money, and the government is no longer funding power like it used to?
Money does not grow on trees. The money to fund power is going to come from our pockets....just like it does elsewhere. Oga oya go pay Iya Bose money, so that she fit get money go market buy rice, come cook and sell so you fit see food to buy chop. And people still wonder why the black race is not progressing. Imagine and enlightened educated man saying people should pay for darkness, so that the disco's can have money to invest to make profit from the same people. This country is really a zoo. |

funmisticqueen: Everyone has a past, some not too pretty especially where love and romance is concerned. Below are my tips on how to spot 'the one' so that he can walk you down the aisle. 1. He loves you and is not afraid to say or show it; it is not just in words but in actions too, he may be a gentleman or a ruffian but becomes the sweetest angel when you are around. 2. He respects you and treats you with dignity: whether you are a hoe or not he treats you like a proper lady alone and in public. 3. You are both free with each other: both of you must fart, burp, belch, speak varnacular and pidgin to each other, you know those little sweet nothings that spice everything up. 4.He must have a source of income enough to take care of three:him, you and his mum or the baby. Love is not for broke niggas. He must be hardworking and ready to put food on the table. 5. His eyes may wander whenever he sees a babe with better assets but they must always return home to you. 6. He must have a belief system, christain, muslim, buddhist, sango worshipper, he must have one that is compactible with yours and stick to it. Not that he would meet the pastor, alfa, babalawo and woli just to solve one problem. 7. He must treat other people especially his relative with love and respect: what he doesn't have, he won't give. 8. He must defend you and be loyal to you: especially in front of outsiders, need i say more. 9. He has control of his temper: if not wifebeater loading, you will just download punches like swift 4G data bundle. If you argue and he ever raises his hand, run sister run, dont look back and dump him like yesterday's garbage. 10. He can keep his joystick under control: We know say konji na bastard but he must always use his head, not balls. If he starts rubing your thighs after the first date, tell him goodnight and shut the door. 11. He must be ambitous: this is what babes mean when they tell other babes that he has prospects. 12. He keeps you in the loop: everybody is entitled to secrets but at least he carries you along. Hope this helps, nothing here is set in stone but it's a good starting point. UNILAG alert!!!! |
