we cannot monitor all campaign boards – Police
Samson Folarin
The governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in Lagos State, Mr. Jimi Agbaje , has petitioned the state Commissioner of Police , Edgal Imohimi, over his torn campaign billboards .
Agbaje had posted a video of the torn billboards on social media on Saturday , lamenting lack of a level playing ground for candidates in the state .
He was said to have also petitioned the police over the matter.
The police spokesperson , CSP Chike Oti, who confirmed the PDP candidate’ s petition, said there was no way the command could deploy policemen to monitor all campaign materials in the state .

He noted that the command would rather adopt the ‘ Aberdeen System .’
Oti, who released a statement on the incident, said the CP had decided to invite the Independent National Electoral Commission, party candidates and chairmen for a meeting .
He said , “The Commissioner of Police , Lagos State, CP Edgal Imohimi, this December 1 , 2018, around 9 : 15am , received a complaint from the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in Lagos, Mr. Jimi Agbaje , to the effect that his campaign boards were vandalised and removed by unknown persons. The complainant went further to post his concern on the social media alleging the vandalisation and removal of the aforementioned items.
“To this end , the CP directed the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department, Panti , Yaba, to set up a monitoring team comprising the command ’ s Riders Unit , to daily monitor and arrest anybody seen vandalising or defacing campaign posters or boards .
“In addition , the Commissioner of Police has directed that invitation letters be sent to state chairmen of all political parties in the state , their candidates, the INEC and other stakeholders for a meeting scheduled to hold on Wednesday, December 5 , 2018, at 11 am, at the Police Officers ’ Mess, GRA , Ikeja.
“This is to further drive home the fact that there is no alternative to peace and the need for all political parties , their candidates and supporters to shun acts capable of breaching public peace.
He said , “constrained by limited manpower , there is no way the command could post policemen to cover all campaign posters in the state but the much it can do , is to adopt the Aberdeen System in protecting campaign adverts and to solicit the cooperation of all and sundry in ensuring the maintenance of law and order .’

Politics / APGA Faction Asks Obiano To Resign For Endorsing Buhari by Agritech(m): 9:20am On Dec 01, 2018
A faction of the All Progressive Grand Alliance on Friday emerged in Abuja with a call on the Anambra State Governor, Willie Obiano, to resign for single-handedly endorsing President Muhhamadu Buhari for the 2019 elections.

The governor had in a video, which went viral, reportedly endorsed the President during the public presentation of a book to commemorate the 80th birthday of a former governor of Akwa Ibom State, Obong Victor Attah, despite having Gen. John Gbor (retd).as its presidential candidate for the 2019 presidential poll.

Speaking with journalists in Abuja, chairman of the new group under the aegis of Authentic APGA, Chief Jerry Obasi, said the governor had brought APGA to ridicule, odium and made it a laughing stock in the eyes of reasonable Nigerians.

He accused Obiano of anti-party activities and breach of Article 22(2D) of the party’s constitution.

Obasi said his members must have to decide whether to continue on the “evil trajectory of impunity and political villainy or adopt a strategic template to guarantee the revival of the fundamental ideas that propelled the formation of APGA.”

According to him, the original and foundational ideology of APGA was that it should be inclusive and guarantee the rights of members to express themselves in line with democratic principles.

He, however, said that it was obvious from prevailing circumstances that the party had derailed and lost the moral compass that endeared it to marginalised Nigerians.

Obasi said, “There is urgent need, therefore, for loyal and genuine members of the party to embark on a programme that would bring back the party to the original ideas. This programme would involve the reconciliation and unification of all those that fought through thick and thin to ensure that APGA serves the purpose of political emancipation of all oppressed people.”

Politics / 2019: APC Northeast Governors, Legislators Strategise On How To Defeat Atiku by Agritech(m): 5:53pm On Nov 25, 2018
Leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the six North-east states, led by their state governors and National Assembly members, met in Bauchi on Saturday to strategise for what they called a total victory for their presidential candidate in the 2019 general elections, Muhammadu Buhari.
APC governs four of the six states in the geo-political zone where Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Mr Buhari’s top challenger comes from. APC governs Adamawa, Bauchi. Borno and Yobe while Gombe and Taraba states are run by the PDP.
The APC leaders said defeating Mr Abubakar has become a task they must accomplish. Mr. Abubakar is from Adamawa, one of the six states in the zone.
Mr Abubakar, one of the richest politicians in northern Nigeria, was never known to have made any serious mileage in most of his political outings since 1999 when he won the Adamawa State governorship, before he was later picked as running mate to former President Olusegun Obasanjo.
The political fortunes of Mr. Abubakar, who now holds the traditional title of Waziri (vizier) of Adamawa, since 2011 continued to nose dive until 2018.
For the first time in his political career, he has a chance to contest the presidential election on the platform of the PDP.
The former vice president, who vied for the APC ticket in 2015 but lost to President Buhari, will now be slogging it out with an incumbent he partly assisted to power.
Despite the labrynths of uncleared corruption charges against him, many Nigerians still see his candidacy as a big threat to President Buhari’s second term bid.
Speaking at the APC zonal stakeholders’ meeting in Bauchi, the Borno State Governor, Kashim Shettima, said Mr Abubakar’s candidature will not deny Mr Buhari his most deserved popular votes in the Northeast.
“The Northeast is a Buhari territory; and he is the single kinetic entity in the Northeast political firmament, and by God’s will his reelection is almost a forgone conclusion.

“We wish the PDP candidate well, but we must not forget the fact that politics is local and is driven by local issues and President Buhari has mostly been responding to our local needs more than anyone else.
“And believe me, Buhari will again ride on another victory horse coming from the Northeast.”
The governor said his confidence in Mr Buhari’s victory was driven by historical facts.
“We must remember that in Borno State back in 2015, we gave Buhari, as the APC candidate, 97.3 percent of the total votes cast in the state.
“And certainly we are going to repeat the feat insha Allah. And so also are other states of the zone.
“It is not a subject of dispute but a question of time that Buhari will be resoundingly reelected insha Allah.
“As far as Nigerians are concerned, Buhari has done extremely well. Look at the Mambila hydro power project. He met the country in a mess and he came to fix it. Even in the security arena, though there are some challenges; but we must be fair to him. When you juxtapose the state of affairs four years ago and what is obtained now we have to give it to Buhari. Some years ago, about 22 local government areas were under the control of Boko Haram. But today the challenges have subsided.”
A senator, Muhammed Ndume, who also spoke to PREMIUM TIMES, said Mr Buhari and the APC were confident of victory come 2019 even though he quickly added that “we are mindful of the fact that you don’t take even your weakest opponent for granted.”

said as a way forward for the APC, the party had during the stakeholders meeting constituted a reconciliation committee to address grievances that arose from the party’s primaries across the country.

“That’s why we are doing everything to ensure that we resolve our internal scuffles on time so that we can face the bigger fight ahead 2019.

“We all know that the PDP presidential candidate is an aggressive politician, and in recent times we can say he is also a desperate politician. So we don’t want to take anything for granted,” he said.

The Adamawa State Governor, Jibrilla Bindow, told the APC gathering in Bauchi that the zone must do everything in its powers to ensure his kinsman is defeated.

“We cannot pretend not to know the capacity of Atiku Abubakar as a crafty politician who can go extra mile to achieve his goals,” he said.

He said the first step towards defeating the former vice president is to unite the APC and reconcile all the grievances.

The APC leader at the Senate, Ahmed Lawan, said Mr Buhari’s three and a half years rule has not only transformed Nigeria but also won new converts into having interest in party politics.

“I want to tell you that there are so many people who, before this time, did not believe in any political party. But after seeing what President Muhammadu Buhari has done, with the little resources at his disposal across country, have now decided to give their support for President Buhari even when they don’t believe in a political party.

“So many have also told themselves that they now believe that APC is ready to bring positive change to Nigeria.”

He said APC will be selling character and integrity to Nigerians come 2019.

“I want to say that the 2019 general elections will be determined by integrity; the 2019 general elections will be determined by the history of candidates.

“We know what other candidates of the other parties were before; we know what they didn’t do for us; we know what they did to Nigeria, in the area of destroyng Nigeria. They privatised our common patrimony; they sold everything that was government to themselves; and they also intend, if they come back, God forbids, to sell the remaining things to themselves.

“We are not going to accept this; President Muhammadu Buhari never desires or intends to do anything like that. What ever he does is for the interest of Nigeria; whatever he does is for the future of Nigeria.

“And we believe that Nigerians know this facts and therefore we don’t have to do so much in the area of campaign.”

The host governor, Muhammed Abubakar of Bauchi, said Bauchi in particular and the North-east in general is the political and electoral home of President Buahari. But he sent out a word of warning for the party not to underestimate the “cunny” ways of the former vice president.

“We all know him very well and we must not take him for granted”, he said.

Politics / Why The Fulani Do Not Trust Igbo – General Gbor, APGA Presidential Candidate by Agritech(m): 9:06am On Nov 25, 2018
Major-General John Gbor, a former Commandant of the Nigeria Army Education Corps, is the presidential candidate of the All Progressive Grand Alliance, APGA. In this interview, Gbor says President Muhammadu Buhari has failed to fix Nigeria as he promised, asking Nigerians to reject him and the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Atiku Abubakar, at the polls in 2019 and vote for him.
What informed your decision to contest for President?
I have chosen to contest for President because Nigeria is at the crossroads. We are in critical times and critical times require critical leadership. If things were going on well and if there were no crises, if fellow Nigerians were not being killed all over the country by kidnappers, herdsmen, farmers and all kinds of crooked people; if the youths, over 20 million graduates, were employed; if our women in the rural areas and in the cities were cared for by government and if our schools were running well to provide qualitative education to Nigerian children, in primary and secondary schools, and our university students were without educational crisis, probably I would not have come but none of these things is happening.
There is serious security challenge in the country, people are being killed all over Nigeria and it looks as if government is helpless even though we have a retired general of the Nigerian Army as President; he is helpless and this is necessary for General Gbor to come in now to save Nigeria. We had a situation like this in the 60s and someone came from the North Central, the Middle Belt called General Gowon; he saved the nation from disintegration. General Gbor is coming also from the Middle Belt, the North Central to unite this country. There will be no nonsense and when I come in, there will be unity. Besides, this country came as a result of British activities on the African soil but this country has been formed by Nigeria using the British imperialists.
When this country started in the 1920s and 1930s, it was the hope of not only Nigerians but also that of the entire black world that Nigeria will lead the entire third world countries. We eventually became an independent nation in 1960. But because we were loosely put together by the British, we ended up in political crisis that led us into civil war and, after the civil war, we have not done much to integrate the Nigerian people. We are still the people of the East, the West and the North. Under President Buhari, Nigeria is divided more than it has ever been.
It has become necessary for General Gbor to come in as President on the ticket of the party that had its origin before the East, the North and the West were created. APGA is an offshoot of the National Council of Nigeria and Cameroon (NCNC) which was formed in 1944 at the instance of the Nigerian youths. Nigerian youths are suffering today simply because what the youths started in 1944 before the East, the North and the West were created, they abandoned it; it was the youth that started the NCNC, not Dr Nnamdi Azikiwe or Herbert Macaulay; it was the ex-students of King’s College, Lagos who rose from a meeting and went to the house of Azikiwe and told him Nigerians didn’t know themselves since amalgamation in 1914 and neither had a common council to speak for them. In essence, they needed a council that will speak for all Nigerians.
Zik said he was happy to listen to them and then motivated the youths to call for a national conference, he allowed them to use his newspapers to mobilise for the conference that was held on August 26,1944; and it was on that occasion that they established the National Council of Nigeria. Some Cameroonian groups came as observers and, when they saw that Nigerians had decided to come together as a unit, they also requested that if Nigeria wouldn’t mind, they should include them. That same day, they changed the name from the National Council of Nigeria to the National Council of Nigeria and Cameroon. The aim of the council was to weld together all the ethnic groups of Nigeria and work for the prosperity and well-being of each Nigerian and Herbert Macaulay was elected the Chairman and Azikiwe the Secretary General. It was the youths that gave out the cock as the group’s symbol and the cock is still crowing and that is why General Gbor has come to this cock given to Nigeria by youths in 1944 so that Nigeria will wake up.
With the challenges facing this country, how have you outlined your programmes to tackle them and realise the country of your dream? What are you bringing to the table?
As President, the first thing I am going to do is to seek ways of uniting Nigerians. Let me tell you frankly, the Hausa man/the Fulani man does not trust the Igbo man, the Igbo man does not trust the Yoruba man, the Yoruba man does not trust the Hausa man, we don’t trust ourselves. How can live without trusting each other? We are afraid of each other; we use derogatory languages and names on each other. We may come together to share the resources of the nation but we do not love ourselves and trust ourselves. When I come in as President, the first thing I would do is to get a committee of traditional rulers, academicians, renowned people like Prof. Wole Soyinka, patriots like the Emir of Kano Lamido Sanusi, intellectuals, men and women to find out what our problems are.
Why is it that as a Tiv man, I cannot trust my neighbour the Idoma man; why is it that the Yoruba man cannot trust the Igbo man, what is the problem, where did it start from? Let us get to the root. Did the Igbo even offend the Yoruba people as a group or as individuals? Did the Yoruba offend Igbo people? What are all these talks that amount to nothing? Did the Igbo offend the Fulani people? Did the Fulani offend the Igbo people? Let us put everything on the table, remove the fear and when we remove the fear, we find out how to remove the hurdle of this fear. How can the Fulani, the Hausa, the Yoruba, the Igbo can now come together to start building this nation, what Zik wanted us to do in 1958, 1959 before independence?
Now, we are still suffering even though Generals Ironsi and Gowon came and dismantled the regions, which were created by the British to fuel division among Nigerians and which led us to civil war. As soldiers, they saw it far away. The first thing the British did to truncate Nigeria’s nationalism was to give us regions so that nobody will be fighting for Nigeria, making people from each region to be fighting for themselves and not the nation called Nigeria and that led us into serious political crisis. So when Ironsi came, he pulled down the regions and brought provinces. But Nigerians did not understand him. In the North, they felt he was trying to level down everything so that he will bring his Igbo brothers to take over the nation because the North was not educated. He was called all kinds of names. The issue was that he didn’t consult well, he didn’t do his home work properly and therefore Nigerians did not understand him but that was the right thing to do.
Are you going to replicate that, are you going to return that system?
When Gowon came after Ironsi, he knew that was the problem. He consulted and created 12 states. Ironsi gave us 24 states by that group of provinces; 6 in the East, 6 in the West and 12 in the North but Gowon gave us 12 states, half of what Ironsi gave us; today we have 36 states and we still condemn Ironsi. He was doing the right thing but we didn’t know, the simple reason was that he didn’t consult and explain the historical background of his action. So, when I come in, I am going to restructure Nigeria but my own restructuring is not going back to the regions as some people are agitating. Regions are here to divide us. States are good. But my own restructuring focuses on the emergence of economic entities that are viable and sustainable and competitive so that, if a state has oil, manage your oil, take care of your youths, women and the aged. Certain percentage as agreed upon as a nation will go to the centre. If you have gold, mine it. If you are into palm oil, it is your property; what you produce, give a percentage to the federal government. I have five-point agenda and restructuring is the first one.
We want to restructure Nigeria. The British gave us regions because Nigerian nationalism was becoming too powerful, it was going to send the British packing, so they gave us regions, so that instead of fighting for national nationalism, Nigeria will decentralize into fighting for regional nationalism; Igbo fighting for Igbo, Hausa fighting for Hausa and Yoruba fighting for Yoruba, nobody was fighting for Nigeria apart from the army. So, if we go back to the regions, we will go back to what the British created us to be so that whatever we do here, we will remain divided; we steal money here and send to the British bank, and when you tap palm oil, you sell it for the interest of the British government to educate their children while your own children are suffering here. I will not let that happen if Nigeria will listen to me. States are good; we will develop as we are.
The philosophy of my administration is that nobody will be left behind, no place will be left behind, everybody will be developed, every human being will be affected positively, and every place will be affected positively. I am going to decentralize the police so that each federating unit will look after its own security, will tap its own resources and if you are tapping your own resources, you need security to protect your resources and to protect the citizens of your state. We will still have Mobile Police at the national level; a state that is in crisis and needs the assistance of the Federal Government, the Mobile Police will go there to assist to put down the crisis but each state will maintain its own security. In the judiciary, there are a lot of cases all over Nigeria up to the federal level and this is delaying justice. I am going to decentralize the judiciary but they will be consulted and I am going to take the judiciary very seriously. Some aspects of the judiciary will be decentralized. For instance, the Court of Appeal will operate at the state level so that cases will be dispensed off quickly because we have been delaying justice too much in this country. Also the cost of running government is too high.
We borrow money from international agencies to develop Nigeria and the chunk of it goes to service the National Assembly, pay the ministers, the governors and the people for whom you borrow the money to develop, to help provide education, roads, hospitals, they hardly get these things. A small percentage of the population will borrow money and share it, this will not happen. We are going to cut down the cost of governance and the excess from this will be used to take care of the poor. The youth and women are also on my agenda. A country that ignores its youth, that country has shot itself on the foot, it cannot progress. Nigeria has systematically ignored the youths from 1960 to date.
When people contest for political positions in this country, nobody talks about the youth and when they come to power, the youths will just follow them blindly, they don’t know that this country belongs to them more than these ones contesting for political positions. In another 30 years, by 2050, our population, which is 180million now, is going to be over 400million and the youth that can’t oversee Nigeria now will be managing the Nigeria of over 400million people. So if we ignore these youths today, when the country population gets to over 400million, how can they manage the country? If people like Buhari, a general, cannot manage Nigeria and people are being killed over the place, with his military background, how do you expect these youths to manage Nigeria when the population is over 400million? Where will they be getting food when we are not planning? This is not to say there will be no food but if we don’t plan and have a culture of how food can be produced and distributed, human beings will be eating human beings at that time.
You talked about President Buhari being a military person and being incapable of curtailing the security challenges we are currently faced with. You are also a military person; what would you say has made it difficult for President Buhari to perform?
In the military, we have generals, we have a commander-in-chief but we also have service chiefs. If we are fighting a war, of course the commander-in-chief is the overall person in charge. A general is appointed to oversee that war. All generals are trained but they are not the same. When a general is not doing well in a war situation, the commander-in-chief replaces him with another general. If Buhari is not doing well who is our commander-in-chief, the electorate should remove him and put me there to make sure that things work, generals are never the same.
There is this widespread belief that the military created the current problem of structure that we have, that the unitary system that we are practicing today was caused by the military. Do you think those who have this impression are fair to the military?
The issue here is not a question of being fair to the military or not, the issue is how do we handle Nigeria now that we are at the crossroads? It is not the issue of who caused Nigeria’s problem, the British caused Nigeria’s problem by giving us regions. When Nigeria came together, the people now refer to themselves as Yoruba, Hausa and Igbo.
You said President Buhari has failed to curtail the killings all over the nation; if you become the President of Nigeria, how would you solve the problems of insurgency and insecurity, Boko Haram?
The Nigerian Army is renowned all over the world as the best peace keeping army and I personally came out with two books on that. Anywhere there is a problem in the world, the UN will insist that Nigeria should be part of the peace keeping mission, so why can’t we keep peace in our own country? You have a commander-in-chief who is not able to wield, give the right command to his service chiefs, sit back and expect results, you will get it. If they have training problem, they will tell you. As commander-in-chief, I will make sure they are trained in the area they need, even if it means bringing people from overseas or sending the team overseas for training, I will do that. If it is equipment, if they come to me, they will get it. But why do we have insurgency? It is not always to use weapons each time this thing happens. Of course the first thing you do is to protect lives and property in the areas where there is insurgency. If people are saying ‘we are Biafra and we want to go’, is that want they are saying? No. They are saying ‘we are angry. We graduated from the university 10 years ago, 20 years ago, no jobs and the number keeps increasing each year and you, as a government, doesn’t care’. You are appointing the same people who were ministers in 1960 as ministers again and you are ignoring these youths and when these people who were ministers in 1960 come as ministers again, they don’t even think of the youths in their localities, so what do you expect?

Politics / PDP Made Southeast Land Of Abandoned Projects, UPP Chairman Alleges by Agritech(m): 8:22am On Nov 24, 2018
The National Chairman of the United Progressives Party (UPP), Chief Chekwas Okorie, yesterday accused the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) of not having anything to show in the South east for the support the people gave the administration for 16 years.

Rather, he alleged that the PDP-led Federal Government ensured that the entire southeast zone became one large area of abandoned construction works.

At a press conference in Enugu, after leading a pan-Igbo organization, the Igboezue Cultural Advancement Initiative (ICAI), which he founded, to adopt President Muhammadu Buhari as their candidate in the 2019 presidential election, Okorie alleged that PDP deliberately kept southeast out of the scheme of things.

“If this is not deliberate, then what will be the explanation for the very painful fact that in 16 years, there is no project that was started and completed by the PDP government in any part of the southeast geo political zone? We are aware that the PDP has an unwritten policy that no Igbo person will ever be the president of Nigeria until 150 years after the Nigeria-Biafra war.

“The manner in which the military junta of Abdulsalam Abubakar presided over the massive deceit of the entire Igbo people by the PDP in the short-changing of the late Dr. Alex Ekwueme in his bid to become the party’s presidential candidate in 1999 is an unprecedented and biggest political 419 ever perpetrated against any race in Nigeria by a political party and its military sponsors,” he said.

Okorie spoke as the Director General of the Voice of Nigeria (VON), Mr. Osita Okechukwu commended Southeast governors for what he described as their wisdom and pragmatism, as evidenced in the meeting they held with President Buhari on Wednesday night.

In a statement in Enugu yesterday, Okechukwu also thanked the Secretary to Government of the Federation (SGF), Boss Mustapha for reminding Ndigbo at the occasion for the second time that Buhari’s victory presents the quickest route to Nigeria president of Igbo extraction in 2023.

Before the 2015 elections, Barack Obama, former US president, released a video admonishing the Nigerian government to create a conducive atmosphere for the peaceful conduct of the poll.

Goodluck Jonathan, the then incumbent president, has said the tone of Obama in the video affected his re-election bid.

Jonathan, who lost the presidential election to President Muhammadu Buhari, made the allegation in his new book, ‘My Transition Hours’.

The book, which was launched in Abuja on Tuesday, has drawn criticism from some of the persons mentioned in it.

A domestic Cook, in the Kaduna residence of Governor Ibrahim Dankwanbo of Gombe State, John Okon, 32, was allegedly tortured to death in a police cell in Kaduna over alleged theft of 4 television sets in the house.
Okon and his wife, Mrs Joy lived within the premises of Dankwanbo’s Private Residence located along Pola Road, off Swimming Pool Road, Kaduna.
Briefing Journalists on Thursday, Mr. Sunny Olorunmola, Solicitors to Mrs Okon said he has petitioned the Inspector General of Police over what he described as, “gruesome torture and murder of John Okon”.
Mr. Okon, was said to have died on 13th day of November, as a result of alleged multiple beatings and torture inflicted on him, while in the custody of men of the Nigerian Police (SARS).
But at the time of filing this report, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Kaduna Police Command, DSP Yakubu Sabo, did not pick several telephone calls put across to him.
According to Olorunmola’s petition, “We are Solicitor to Mrs. John Okon who formerly reside and lived together with her husband now (deceased) within Gombe State Governor, His Excellency, Ibrahim Dankwanbo’s Private Kaduna Residence located along Pola Road, Off Swimming Pool Road Kaduna.
“Mr. John Okon, died on the 13th day of November, 2018 as a result of gruesome serial multiple beatings and torture inflicted on him, white in the custody of men of the Nigerian Police (SARS) headed by one SP Jummai of Anti-Crime Department, Gabasawa, Police Headquarters Kaduna.
“Our Client, now late was employed as personal cook and housekeeper to the Gombe State Executive Governor, at his Kaduna residence as aforesaid, and has being serving the Governor in that capacity for about one and the half years before the aforesaid incidence. While at same time, lived in the Boys quarters of the Governor’s main private Residence, until, Thursday, 8th day of November, 2018 at about 7am when he woke up in the morning to attend to his daily domestic chore duties in the Governor’s Residence only to discovered that the house had been burgled, and (4) Four theatre TV Cinemas were made away, by the burglars.
“He immediately, rushed back to his living apartment in the boys quarter to inform his wife and in their shock and trembling, both Mr. and Mrs. John Okon, alerted all the security guards and gardener, who all slept in the Governor’s Residence together with them, viz: Two (2) Uniform Policemen and 2 other private security guards and the gardener. AU of them immediately carried out inspection of the house and wondered who must have broken into the Governor’s house unnoticed and without the usage of keys, moreso, nobody went out at night amongst all the occupants.
“While (4) Four TV Cinemas, stolen couldn’t have been taken away through from the main gates to the house unnoticed and unchallenged by the Security guards except through the Perimeter Fence of the Governor’s Private Residence.
“Our Client and all the security guards attached to the Governor’s Residence decided to report the incident to Kabala Coustain Police Station, where all of them were immediately arrested and another maintenance roofing worker the Governor’s House, who came to work on Wednesday 7th November, 2018 on the Governor’s Roof leakages, was called and arrested. They were thereafter alt transferred to the Kaduna State Police Headquarters, for further investigations on Friday, 9th November, 2018.
“We were reliably informed, the case was assigned to the Anti-Crime Department at Gabasawa, Police Station, Kaduna. The Crime Investigation Team was headed by one P Jummai and 3 others, who decided to single out our client, Mr. John Okon, now late for tortured, in order to extort by force confessions and viable evidence for their supposed investigation.
“He was so tortured that he could not use his Legs to walk neither was he strong enough to stand for 1 minutes after those series of torturing between Friday, 9th November, 2018 and Monday, 12th November, 2018, couple with the fact that he was consistently denied access to the food prepared and took to him by his wife, who was also arrested on Friday 9th November, 2018 at about 8.30pm and taken to the Anti-Crime Department for interrogation, whereas, her husband was repeatedly beaten in her presence asking him to confess to the crime and where he kept all the stolen TVs Cinemas, while Mr. John Okon pleaded to be sparred from dying apparently from Police repeated battering and torture, his wife, Mrs. John Okon, broke down in tears in the process despite her condition, as she was heavily pregnant, pleaded for her husband innocence and safety from the hands of his oppressors (Police).
“She was ordered later, to be released around 11:30pm by SP Jummai the team head, who participated in the torturing with (2) two other Sergeants and Inspectors.
“It should be noted that between Friday, 9th November to Saturday, 10th November, 2018 our client could not stand nor walk again with his feets, and had to be brought Literally by 2 Police men, about 3 times to the Governor’s Residence, under the guise that they wanted him to confess and lead the Police to where he was keeping the TV theatre Cinemas in the Governor’s Residence.
“It will interest you to note further sir, Mr. John Okon now late, was not allowed access to see any visitors, nor his wife, except on occasions, when he was literally taken to his apartment in the Governor’s House for search, that she had access to him; neither was he allowed legal representation nor taken to Court in accordance with the Kaduna State Administration of Criminal Justice Law as well as the Constitution of Nigeria after 24 hours of his arrest by the Police until he was tortured to death by the Police on 13th November, 2018.
“Our firm of Legal Practitioners only came into the case on Sunday, 11th day of November, 2018 at about 1pm and considering the time he had over spent with the Police, we met with the investigating Police Officer, who refused to disclose, his name, upon my introducing myself to him, but has 2 Tribal Marks; he only chose to relate Police own side of their investigation but refused me access to the accused person on the ground that came on Sunday, and by Police Rules and Regulation, no suspects must be allowed to be seen by anybody over the weekends, their lawyers inclusive.
“We were simply advised to report back on Monday 12th November, 2018 we left the Police Station at about 4.35pm without setting our eyes on Mr. John Okon.
“We reported back to the Police on Monday, at about 10:30am, only to be told that we needed the permission of the 2 I/C in charge of the team i.e. the team head before we could be allowed access to Mr. John Okon, and as that moment, she went for Police briefing with the Commissioner of Police; we observed on our way upstairs to meet with the investigation Police Officers that there was a kind of commotion, in their office with about 3 Police Officers, carrying a supposed suspect already in coma, fainted, being rushed out of the Police Station to a destination we did not know.
“The suspect eventually turned out to be our client Mr. John Okon, whom was confirmed to be dead in hospital, Barau Diko General Hospital and kept in the Mortuary at the moment.
“We strongly appeal to your esteemed office sir, not only to condemn this gruesome and barbaric acts of murder by your men, but to arrest, prosecute and bring them to book to face the wrath of the law.
“Incidentally and unfortunately sir, our client’s wife, had forced labour on Tuesday, 13th day of November, 2018 and delivered of her pregnancy, out of gruesome pains and depression she experienced from her husband’s ordeal.
“Neither the Police Commissioner nor the Governor of Gombe State have personally contacted the wife and family of the deceased as at moment 1 5th day of November, 2018, only to be told on phone, by same ASP Jummai, that our client died and his corpse is tying at Barau Diko General Hospital Mortuary, Kaduna.
“Sir, your swift intervention, investigation and prosecution of all culprits in the interest of justice in this murderous case is highly solicited for in the circumstance”.

Politics / Zainab Duke Abiola Calls Jonathan’s Book ‘Monumental Manipulation Of Facts’ by Agritech(m): 5:40pm On Nov 23, 2018
Zainab Duke-Abiola, wife of late Moshood Abiola, says the book written by ex-president Goodluck Jonathan is a “monumental manipulation of historical facts and figures”.

Jonathan on Tuesday launched his book, ‘My Transition Hours’, to mark his 61st birthday.

Ex-presidents Olusegun Obasanjo and John Mahama of Ghana were among those dignitaries who graced the event.

In a statement on Thursday, Duke-Abiola described the book as “a pseudologia fantastica”.

She said the claim by Jonathan that former US President Barack Obama and ex-UK Prime Minister David Cameron interfered with the country’s 2015 is “ludicrous”.

“The book is a monumental manipulation of historical facts and figures,” Duke-Abiola said.

“Though President Jonathan conceded defeat to President Muhammadu Buhari after he lost the elections, he remained fixated on the presidency and did not want to believe that Nigerian voters swept him out of power because of his gross incompetence and ineptitude.

“For the records, Jonathan lost the election because he made himself the sole candidate of the PDP despite his abysmal failure in governance. He directed the party to print only one presidential nomination Form 001, which I paid for, but because of his blind ambition, he confiscated my presidential nomination Form 001 and went into the political battlefield in borrowed robes, thereby meeting his political Waterloo accordingly.”

She said the ex-president plunged the country into an avoidable security and humanitarian crisis.

“I think the only option left for Jonathan is to plead with God and Nigerians for forgiveness and until we forgive him, he should remain in his purgatory of lethargy. No amount of write-up can erase the fact that he took this great nation for granted,” Duke-Abiola said.

“The indeprecabilis question for Jonathan to answer is What did he do with the power Nigerians entrusted him with? Did he ameliorate the sufferings of Nigerians or even the marginalized Niger Deltans? Did he even put drinking water in his own village? Are Jonathan’s village mansions accessible by road? Why does he charter helicopters to travel to his own village?

“Jonathan said corruption is not stealing and thereafter flagged off the looting spree of the treasury, which ultimately plunged Nigeria into recession when he left. Jonathan will go down in history as Nigeria’s worst political mistake."

Politics / The Only Thing PDP Is Good At Is ‘ Share The Money ’ – Oshiomhole by Agritech(m): 4:32pm On Nov 22, 2018
National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress ( APC) , Adams Oshiomhole , on Wednesday, took a swipe at the Peoples Democratic Party ( PDP), saying that the only integrity they have is the reputation of share the money .
Oshiomhole spoke when he inaugurated the 42- man National Peace and Reconciliation Committee at the party secretariat , in Abuja , emphasising that only Nigerians with short memories can compare the APC and the PDP.
The former governor of Edo State expressed surprise that the attack from certain aggrieved persons in the APC did not have the effect the opposition expected .
Extolling the committee members , Oshiomhole said , “ On behalf of the NWC , I want to appreciate each and every one of you who , despite your very crowded schedule as governors , senators, ministers, at short notice , honoured us by accepting your appointment to serve in this committee we set up your help us as a party find in - house solution to our problems by restoring peace , enduring internal unity and harmony within the APC family .
“We have gone through very crucial state in the processes leading to the next presidential, National Assembly, governorship and State Assembly elections . I think by my own record , of the 36 states and the FCT , we have done exceedingly well.
“It is impossible even for the most gifted child to score 100 per cent in every subject and the more questions you have to answer, the higher your chances of missing some of them .
“One thing I learnt early in life in trying to lead people of equal is that once you become the chairman of a logo association , you automatically become the logo dustbin to which everybody empties everything that is dirty.
“I have had my own unfair share of people , who in anger , chose to attack me as a person, but unfortunately it does not coincide with what the opposition , the PDP had always wanted.
“Bringing on board my past reputation was by itself a challenge to the PDP that has no reputation.
“If they had any, it is only the reputation of share the money . They shared it as recklessly as they could and these are no longer in the realm of speculation because they are the subject of litigation in the courts across the country.
“Four years ago , around this time , we were in opposition and the value of our tickets , if we have a political market where tickets are awaited, were certainly not near they are today.
“Only men of conviction and of vision can subscribe contesting election on our platform .
“I believe that our collective verdict under the leadership of President Muhammadu Buhari, who is our presidential candidate have all worked hard in the last four years.
“We have not solved all the problems of Nigeria but those who have good memories will have no difficulty in comparing the previous 16 years of the PDP rule with the three and half years of the APC.
“Our people voted for change because they want to change the way the country is managed , the way governance is approached, eliminate corruption in the process of governance and reconcile efforts with rewards and eliminate the trend where people who work hard earn very little while those who have no business address are the billionaires .
“We wanted to address the situation where a Nigerian is buying a private jet every other week even without any business address.

Don't you have conscience, how would you expect him to spend billions of dollars to win an election without acquiring NNPC to recoup his investment?
