Spokesperson of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Olisa Metuh, has Thursday said that he is ready to return the N400 million received from the office of the National Security Advider during the Jonathan’s administration. This was made available in a statement by his lawyer, Onyechi Ikpeazu (SAN), on Thursday. Recall that the PDP spokesperson is being tried for allegedly receiving N400 million of government arms money. Metuh who said that dialogue has been on ground at getting his neck off the anti-graft noose also said that talks with the ministry of Justice, the EFCC and other relevant anti-graft bodies are in place. Stating the decision of the spokesperson, Ikpeazu said, “In the light of the circumstances regarding the case of our client, Chief Olisa Metuh with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), we want to explain the reasons for our client’s proposal to refund the N400 million released to him by former President Goodluck Jonathan, and which was expended on a project approved by the ex-president on national issues relating to his presidency and the federal government at that time,” the statement read. “We want to restate that at the time the money was released to him after his presentation to the ex-president, our client had no knowledge of the source, a fact that is now obvious from the evidence of the prosecution and defence witnesses. Our client had every cause to believe that the money was from the ex-president to whom he made presentation, received directives and rendered report and accounts accordingly. “When the matter first came up and Chief Metuh was invited to the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA) in December 2015, he requested to know the source of the money and expressed his readiness to make refunds if it was from government coffers, not minding that the money had been expended as directed by the former President. Officials at ONSA never got back to him as they promised, until his arrest by the EFCC in January 2016. “It was however while in court that a document was brought regarding the source of the money and since then, our client has made manifest his willingness to refund the money and has indeed approached his family, friends and associates to mobilise funds to refund the entire N400 million to the government regardless of the fact that the money had been expended based on the directives of the former president and that part of the money had been recovered from one of the prosecution witnesses.” “Our client occupied no government office. His commitment and dedication to his official duties have been confirmed by even prosecution witnesses. In this whole saga, he has been an unfortunate victim of circumstances. His refunding the money therefore goes to show his support for the anti-corruption war as well as serve as a testament to his sincerity, integrity and honesty in this matter,” read the statement. “There is no doubt that the prosecution has considerably embarked on some expenses in the course of this case. It is hoped that by not discounting the sum already recovered, whatever cost so far incurred would have been defrayed. By this, a critical objective of recovery of funds would no doubt be achieved. “It is pertinent to restate our client’s continued support for the anti-corruption campaign, which is necessary to ensure probity in the affairs of Nigeria to the extent that it is conducted within the rule of law.” https://www.vanguardngr.com/2016/06/metuh-offers-return-n400m-support-buharis-anti-corruption-war/ CC: LALASTICLALA CC: SEUN |

When Olamide’s "Science Student" was released early this year, it was heavily criticised for endorsing and celebrating an already worrisome drug culture » among Nigeria’s youth. His defence, and that of many who spoke in his favour was that he was only highlighting the problem and calling the attention of those at the core of it to do better and take charge of their lives. Now that we are seeing photos of methylated spirit and Coke, we are inclined to believe Olamide was right. You may think you’ve seen it all but apparently, there’s a new trend among those craving the euphoria of a momentary high. Apparently, young men are mixing medical-grade methylated spirit with the popular soft drink, Coca-Cola to create a cocktail that gets them high. Why would anyone drink methylated spirit? This unholy mixture is yet to have a name but from all indications, it is catching on fast. In recent months, the drug culture among Nigerian youth has drawn increased attention. Young people across the country are turning to an assortment of drugs, herbal and pharmaceutical, in a bid to fight what has been described as a deathly wave of depression. That and a wave of disillusionment at the lack of opportunities have been blamed for a culture of abuse that stretches from Lagos to slums in Kano where codeine can cost the same as a plate of food » . But this new drift towards mixing and creating new substances is even more troubling and defies simple explanation. The term “Science Student” from Olamide’s song of the same title refers to young persons who mix intoxicating substances of various kinds to achieve an intense high that they can vary to suit their desires. Coca-Cola is a beverage that nearly everyone is familiar with but we can’t say the same for the other guy. Methylated Spirit is basically alcohol made for general medical and pharmaceutical use that has been made unfit for drinking by the addition of about 10 percent methanol and typically also some pyridine and a violet dye. A drug epidemic These additives make it taste bad and more importantly, poisonous. Mixing this spirit with coke might douse the bad taste but it doesn’t change the fact that in a bid to get high, young people are slowly doing irreparable damage to their own bodies. Drug abuse has now become a hydra-headed monster. As appealing as the idea of placing stringent rules on the sale of drugs may seem, it is too obvious that it does nothing to solve the problem. A good place to start would be tackling the causes of the issue and giving young people a chance in a country that tells them one too many times that they do not matter. Most of these cocktails are made by young men who do not know better. It would go a long way if agencies and schools could teach the perils of drug abuse beyond a page or two in social studies and the weekly sermon that promises hell for all sinners. As it stands, we’re headed for an epidemic of epic proportions. Right now, our conversations are mostly about the economy and government and the depth of our untapped potential. But if we ignore this problem, we may lose a large chunk of the youth we seem so proud of yet so eager to ignore. http://opera.pulse.ng/gist/pop-culture/young-people-are-mixing-methylated-spirit-and-coke-to-get-high-id7958884.html?link_time=1518168979#utm_term=Autofeed&utm_campaign=Echobox&utm_medium=Social&utm_source=Facebook

Following the announcement on September 24, 2014, by the Nigerian Army that Leader of the Boko Haram sect, Abubakar Shekau has been killed, a video was released by the sect debunking the claims. In the video, Shekau described the Military’s claim as a “propaganda,” adding that he was alive and nothing will kill him until his days are over. On many occasions, the Nigerian forces had made claims of either killing him or leaving him ‘fatally wounded’ after ‘successful’ operations. Months or weeks after such claims, the Boko Haram leader usually re-emerges, sometimes in a video to prove he had not been killed, thus creating doubts about the alleged successes in the fight against Boko Haram. In August 2016, the Army said its “most unprecedented and spectacular air raid” has “fatally wounded” the leader of Boko Haram, Abubakar Shekau, on his shoulders, while confirming that Boko Haram commanders like Abubakar Mubi, Malam Nuhu and Malam Hamman, amongst others, were confirmed dead. Major General Lucky Irabor, Commander of Operation Lafiya Dole, Nigeria’s military operation set up to quash Boko Haram, in September 2016, insisted that Boko Haram leader Abubakar Shekau is dead. Where lays the contradiction, the Army or the media? Despite the claims and counter-claims on the death of Shekau, could the Army be making unclarified statements or are they being quoted out of context? In August 2017, Major General and Defence spokesperson, John Enenche, said, that they have evidence to prove that Boko Haram leader, Abubakar Shekau, has been killed, but admitted there are many Shekaus. However, both International and local media often interpret the Army’s statement differently. For instance, when the Army said Shekau was “fatally injured” a Voice of America title reads “Nigeria Claims Boko Haram Leader Killed in Airstrike” while Daily Mail’s title read, “Boko Haram leader Abubakar Shekau ‘killed in air strike by Nigerian fighter jets along with other senior militants. ” “Boko Haram leader killed in air strike,” The Independent of the UK also had as its headline. The Nigerian media reported the news a bit differently. “Nigerian military says Boko Haram leader, Shekau, wounded in deadly air strike, ” Premium Times, while Vanguard reads “Abubakar Shekau Wounded In NAF’s Sambia Raid”. Business Day simply tweeted: “Nigeria’s military says it has seriously injured Boko Haram’s leader Abubakar Shekau and killed other commanders in an air strike.” The confusion between what the International and Nigerian media reported is caused by the word ‘fatally’ used to describe the injuries Shekau sustained in the air strike, when used in relation to injuries, fatally usually denotes death. However, with statements made by the Army, it remains quite unclear if the Shekau that keeps resurfacing is the real one or just a bunch of imposters. “I can confirm to you that the original Shekau was killed, the second Shekau was killed, and the man presenting himself as Shekau, I can also confirm to you that few days ago, he was wounded. We are yet to confirm whether he is dead or not”. “Anything can be uploaded; there is no forensic evidence that can say this. There are many Shekaus, there are various Shekaus, which is my strong belief. “A Shekau is still alive, people keep posing as Shekaus, but who knows the real Shekau? Only the indigenes and the people that are there, and people like carrying big names, that is why we keep knocking out any Shekau that comes up,” https://www.etn24.com/news/shekau-nine-lives-army-contradicting/

Jodesky:This is the country that USA has been planning to destroy them decades. Do you want them to allow foreigners to be taking pictures any how? could these pictures not be used to know the exact situation on ground when they want to attack? The secrecy of north Korea is one of the reasons they are able to surprise even the US intelligence. If these are the pictures they don't want us to see, I can only imagine how beautiful will be the once they want us to see. |

The majority of women in the UK don’t bathe or take a shower each day because they are too tired, new research has revealed. The survey also showed that as many as one in three women admitted that they had gone as long as three days without washing or wiping their face or body at all. Some 57 per cent of women acknowledged the importance of hygiene, but said that they didn't have the time to shower or bathe before bed, and instead opted to freshen up with wipes. The survey of over 2,000 females by skin care range Flint + Flint also showed that over 60 per cent of women did not remove their makeup before bed after a night out, with 35 per cent of those saying they were worried about getting enough sleep. Asked whether they washed in the morning, only a fifth of women said they took a shower or bath every day, with over 30 percent revealing they did not wash for three days at time. http://www.independent.co.uk/life-style/health-and-families/health-news/majority-of-uk-women-dont-bath-or-shower-10065854.html?utm_campaign=Echobox&utm_medium=Social&utm_source=Facebook

OP divorce her, your children would survive. The cause of this is that many women don't get to marry the men they love. They settle for the one they don't love because he got cash or he is ready for marriage immediately. It not always the ex boyfriend's fault. In most cases, it is the married woman that leads him on. Speaking from personal experience an ex chatted with me during the first week of her marriage that we should remain close. I told her we can't. |
bounty007:If Nigerian wins the world cup, yours would be the prophesy of the decade. |
Let's join the pastors in predicting the future. These are my prophesies. 1. Nigeria reserve would keep rising. 2. The federal government would construct lots of road so as to become very popular before the 2019. 3. North Korea would carry a missile test. 4. More countries would take their embassies to Jerusalem. 5. Atiku would not win the PDP presidential primary. 6. There would be disagreements between China and the US. 7. There would be lots of decamping to PDP and APC. 8. There would be a plan crash in the world. 9. A country would have a popular uprising. 10. 2018 would be better than 2017 for most Nigerians. Drop yours. |

SouthEastFacts:Nigeria policy has never been on neutrality, it has always been on a two state solution. That's the same policy of most members of the UN, even the policy of the US before Trump. Even the Pope spoke in favour of a two state solution yesterday. "We see Jesus in the children of the Middle East who continue to suffer because of growing tensions between Israelis and Palestinians," he said. "Let us pray that the will to resume dialogue may prevail between the parties and that a negotiated solution can finally be reached, one that would allow the peaceful coexistence of two states within mutually agreed and internationally recognized borders." https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/world/2017/12/25/pope-francis-calls-two-state-solution-israelis-and-palestinians/980552001/ |
