The lifespan of one of the best-selling video game consoles of all time is coming to an end. Later this year the PS5 will release, and slowly but surely people will begin to forget about the PS4. The console will continue to get major releases for at least a couple of more years and find success in smaller, emerging markets as it gets cheaper, but it's almost PS5 time. That said, just because the PS5 is imminent doesn't mean the PS4 is going to cease to exist. During a recent interview with the one and only Geoff Keighley, head of marketing at PlayStation, Eric Lempel, reassured PS4 players that Sony still has a lot in store for the console. What exactly is in the pipeline isn't revealed, but the way Lempel talks about it suggests it's something for PS4 owners to look forward to; is a big part of everything we do, and it will continue to be a big part of everything we do,” said Lempel. “There’s a lot more to come for PS4. I think we’re seeing some of the greatest titles of this generation release in recent weeks, but that will continue. PS5 is the next generation product, but we’ve got a lot to come for people on PS4. There’s still a ton of life in that product.” Again, for now, it's unclear what exactly Lempel is getting at, but it could involve games. As you may know, Sony does have a bit of history of releasing major exclusive games on its older consoles. For example, it released God of War 2 on PS2 after PS3 was already available. However, this seems unlikely. While there is some history to Sony doing this, the way they've talked about the PS5 being a clean break for its first-party studios suggests it's unlikely this teases involves a major first-party release. Could there be some cross-gen games on the horizon? Maybe, but again, when you take into account Sony's verbiage about the PS5, this seems unlikely as well. It was the Chinese philosopher Sun Tzu, and not Al Pacino in The Godfather Part 2, who first said, “Keep your friends close, and your enemies closer.” Yin Weidong, the CEO of Chinese biotech firm SinoVac, seems to have taken that advice to heart. On the desk in his office in Beijing are two plastic models of a virus—each blue core surrounded by red protein spikes. From the time it started spreading in the central Chinese city of Wuhan in late December, containing that virus has occupied virtually every waking moment for the scientist. The pandemic we now know as COVID-19 is rampaging across every continent. On the dozens of daily infection charts, broken down by nation and pasted floor to ceiling on Yin’s office wall, the numbers tell a horrifying story: 16 million infections and 640,000 deaths worldwide, including 146,000 American lives lost as of Monday. But if the enemy is close, so is a possible new friend. Yin’s desk is now also home to several small glass vials of SinoVac’s COVID-19 vaccine—dubbed CoronaVac—that began phase 3 trials involving 9,000 volunteers in Brazil last week. (A phase 1 trial involves small groups of patients to check a vaccine for negative side effects, and a phase two trial usually tests for a combination of safety and efficacy, while a phase 3 trial is like a phase 2 but involving many more participants.) “Looking at the data collected, I think we have more than an 80% chance of success,” says Yin. Normally, getting from pathogen identification through phase 3 trials in about 10 years is considered quick. The mumps vaccine is generally considered the fastest ever developed at four years. But if all goes well, CoronaVac might be ready for regulatory approval early next year. Not that Yin is satisfied. “Do you really think this is fast? Compared with the spread of the virus, it’s not fast enough,” he says, holding his plastic nemesis aloft with grudging respect. “That is how we should measure our progress.” During the 2002 to 2003 SARS outbreak, which claimed over 774 lives worldwide, SinoVac was the only firm to go into phase 1 vaccine trials, but the pandemic suddenly disappeared. That meant that research was discontinued at a huge loss for the firm. It wasn’t entirely wasted, however. Now, 17 years later, SinoVac is able to build on that earlier work, given that COVID-19 is very similar to SARS. It and coronavirus are “like brothers,” says Yin. ... NEW DELHI - An Indian court has summoned Alibaba and its founder Jack Ma in a case in which a former employee in India says he was wrongfully fired after objecting to what he saw as censorship and fake news on company apps, documents seen by Reuters showed. The case comes weeks after India cited security concerns in banning Alibaba’s UC News, UC Browser and 57 other Chinese apps after a clash between the two countries’ forces on their border. Following the ban, which China has criticized, India sought written answers from all affected companies, including whether they censored content or acted for any foreign government. In court filings dated July 20 and previously not reported, the former employee of Alibaba’s UC Web, Pushpandra Singh Parmar, alleges the company used to censor content seen as unfavourable to China and its apps UC Browser and UC News showcased false news “to cause social and political turmoil”. Civil Judge Sonia Sheokand of a district court in Gurugram, a satellite city of India’s capital, New Delhi, has issued summons for Alibaba, Jack Ma and about a dozen individuals or company units, asking them to appear in court or through a lawyer on July 29, court documents showed. The judge has also sought written responses from the company and its executives within 30 days, according to the summons. UC India said in a statement it had been “unwavering in its commitment to the India market and the welfare of its local employees, and its policies are in compliance with local laws. We are unable to comment on ongoing litigation”. Alibaba representatives did not respond to requests for comment from the Chinese company or on behalf of Jack Ma... The COVID-19 pandemic has completely upended our normal way of doing business. Stay in place orders have caused stores to shut their doors in many states. Other companies find themselves unable to fulfill shipments due to supply chain disruptions. Even for companies that are remaining open, business is largely on the decline as more people try to stay home to mitigate the spread of COVID-19. In fact, Quartz reports that foot traffic at retail stores is down 97.6 percent compared to the same time last year. Needless to say, it is a time of turmoil, especially for small and midsize businesses (SMBs) that don’t have the cash reserves of larger corporations. Despite all the uncertainty going on during this time, however, there are still things you can do to keep your business afloat. 1. Keep your customers up to date. With so much uncertainty, your customers will be wondering what changes you are making in your day-to-day operations. You might have to close your brick-and-mortar store or reduce hours to give employees time to sanitize your facility. You could be experiencing delays in fulfilling online orders. Regardless of your operating changes, many people will be understandably worried about placing an order or coming into your store due to concerns about catching the coronavirus. This makes proactive communications regarding any changes or preventative measures you’re taking an absolute must. Most retailers have now added COVID-19 notifications at the top of their home page highlighting changes. Others are using email lists and social media profiles to spread the word. AdAge notes that brands ranging from Southwest Airlines to Quibi have increased social media ad spend, resulting in increases of up to 40 percent in daily impressions. Proactive communications can give customers peace of mind and help them remember your brand. 2. Consider new products to replace unavailable services. If you are no longer able to provide your traditional services to your customers, coming up with “replacement” products could prove key to maintaining a source of revenue. Online coaching, courses and tutorials, video series and ebooks are just a few of the digital products you could offer to keep in touch with customers and drive revenue if you are unable to sell your typical products or services. Think creatively. Such ideas won’t just keep you afloat now — they could continue to provide revenue once business returns to normal. 3. Shift as much of your focus online as possible. Even if you already offer products and services online, now is the time to be aware of how you can minimize in-person interactions to further slow the spread. Many companies have shifted to using Zoom and other video calling tools so meetings that were formerly held in-person can be conducted digitally. Small brick-and-mortar retailers that rely on foot traffic to shift products must consider digital workarounds — especially in areas where state mandates have closed their doors. Providing local delivery or curbside pickup will allow you to continue to make sales when revenue might otherwise completely disappear. Many grocers and major retailers like Best Buy and Dick’s Sporting Goods have drastically shifted their operations to emphasize curbside pickup. In fact, according to USA Today, curbside pickup sales have increased by 87 percent compared to last year. Such changes may present a logistical challenge, but they will keep customers and employees safe. 4. Be mindful of how you manage expenses. With revenue dropping for many SMBs, managing cash flow has never been more of a concern. While the small business loans made available through the stimulus package can certainly help, business owners should give increased attention to inventory and project management, re-evaluating their current financing options and auditing fixed and variable costs. In fact, an analysis from Deloitte recommends, “In times of uncertainty, it’s generally a good idea to swap fixed costs for variable costs wherever you can — preserving your core business while increasing your flexibility on the fringes. Selling assets and then leasing them back is one way to raise emergency cash. You might also want to consider expanding your use of practices such as contract manufacturing, transportation fleet leasing, and third-party warehousing.” Regardless of whether you are cutting variable expenses or taking out a loan, it is important to consider both the immediate and long-term impact these decisions will have on your finances. Getting through the next few months is crucial, but you don’t want to make a decision that will severely cripple your operations and cash flow later on. Navigating an uncertain future. Currently, there seems to be no telling how long the COVID-19 pandemic will disrupt our way of life, but the simple truth is that eventually, things will get better. Proactive businesses, adjusting to this “new normal,” will be the best equipped to ride out the storm and will be in a stronger position once the pandemic finally subsides. https://ioalert.com/2020/07/4-simple-things-you-can-do-to-stabilize.html

timifaithus:I already registered for the ID card since January 2020 so I have the nin and other necessary details in the NIMC portal. Just that our everly archaic system never keeps to promise so my due date for card collection wasn't kept to. Use this template, edit the names and numbers, change the photo and scan your signature then upload under your passport. Use the same details in your NIMC slip. Expiry date too. I used Corel draw so I could extract the background from the card and replace it on the original text, then retype mine. It isn't an Easy task, I spent 2+ hours, cuz I did front and back but Fiverr only asks for front.
