It's usually a case of both, from the situations I have seen.

So, there are certain kids who genuinely want to help but lack the means.

There's another set who have the means but are unwilling and too selfish to be bothered with their parents' needs.

Meanwhile, the kids in scenario 1 & 2 may all be siblings, so the parents end up suffering real bad.

It's a heart breaking something.

I no longer believe in religion or going to church, this development is quite surprising due to my upbringing in a staunch Deeper life Christian home.

I find myself laughing sometimes unconsciously when someone mentions prayers as a solution to a problem.
Maybe this is due to the fact that I've prayed and fasted for years for a financial breakthrough but all to no avail.

When I see people that are less religious or morally corrupted doing well and presiding over the overly religious people, I feel bad the more.

There are other places you can add to your visit list which includes; Tinapa and Obudu (not in Calabar though) resort. You can also plan to visit during the Calabar Carnival in December, it is an awesome experience, though I didn’t experience it.
