Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko on Saturday that he had arranged a deal whereby Wagner Group leader Evgeny Prigozhin will abandon his mutiny in exchange for “security guarantees” for his fighters.

“Evgeny Prigozhin accepted the proposal of President Alexander Lukashenko to stop the movement of armed men of Wagner in Russia and take further steps to de-escalate tension,” read a statement from Lukashenko's office.

This morning, Russian President Vladimir Putin briefed his Belarusian counterpart on the situation in southern Russia with the private military company Wagner. The heads of state agreed on joint actions.

As a follow-up to the agreements, the President of Belarus, having additionally specified the situation through his own channels, and in agreement with the President of Russia, held talks with the head of Wagner PMC Yevgeny Prigozhin.

Negotiations continued throughout the day. As a result, they came to agreements on the inadmissibility of unleashing a bloody massacre on the territory of Russia. Yevgeny Prigozhin accepted the proposal of the President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko to stop the movement of armed persons of the Wagner company on the territory of Russia and take further steps to de-escalate tensions.

At the moment, on the table is an absolutely profitable and acceptable option for solving the situation, with security guarantees for the Wagner PMC fighters.

As previously reported, also during today, the President of Belarus held two meetings with the power bloc of the country on this situation.

Prigozhin confirms fighters are returning to bases to 'avoid bloodshed'

As we told you in our previous post, Belarus announced that the head of the Wagner group had agreed to de-escalate the situation in Russia.

Now, Yevgeny Prigozhin has issued an audio message confirming his fighters are returning to their bases to "avoid bloodshed".


He says he "gave the order to turn back because of the risk of blood being spilled".

The move comes after a convoy of his fighters entered the Russian city of Rostov-on-Don in the early hours of this morning, where UK defence intelligence says the city's military headquarters was very likely captured.

From there, the group moved to Voronzeh and reportedly took control of all the military facilities in the city.

Reports suggested the fighters had been continuing up the M4 highway, with officials in Lipetsk - the next city north of Voronezh en route to Moscow - urging citizens to stay indoors.

We left on June 23 for the march of justice," Prigozhin adds in his audio messaged.

"In a day we travelled, not reaching 200 km, to Moscow.

"During this time, we have not shed a single drop of the blood of our fighters.

"Now the moment has come when blood could be shed, therefore, realizing all the responsibility for the fact that Russian blood will be shed on one of the sides, we turn our columns around and return in the opposite direction to the field camps, according to the plan."

An investor and billionaire said he was offered cut-price tickets for Titan's deep-sea trek to the Titanic but turned them down over a scheduling issue.

In a post to Facebook, tycoon Jay Bloom shared texts between himself and OceanGate chief executive Stockton Rush, who insisted the voyage would be "safer than scuba diving".

Mr Bloom said he turned down the tickets offered to him and his son at the discounted price of $150,000 per person because of scheduling.

His son had also raised safety concerns, he said.

One of the texts from Mr Rush - who was killed when Titan imploded on its trip to the shipwreck - said: "While there's obviously risk it's way safer than flying in a helicopter or even scuba diving. There hasn't been even an injury in 35 years in a non-military subs."


Mr Bloom said he is "sure he really believed what he was saying, but he was very wrong".

He said he last saw the OceanGate chief in March, when Mr Rush was "absolutely convinced" the dive would be "safer than crossing the street".

"I told him that due to scheduling we couldn't go until next year," Mr Bloom said.

"Tomorrow is never promised. Make the most of today."

In an earlier post - before the debris was found - he had said: "So this is crazy… I got invited to go on this dive. If I accepted, I would've been one of the five onboard right now."

He was also in the crowd to witness UFC Vegas 61 last year. Some rumors even floated around claiming he rented out the establishment, but UFC President Dana White says that's a lie.

Time will tell if this exchange is simply for show or if the two highly successful businessmen can actually come to terms and make this fight a reality.
