MIAMI - Ahead of this weekend's Leagues Cup final, soccer superstar Lionel Messi will be holding his first-ever press conference since joining Inter Miami CF.CBS News Miami will be streaming the press conferences live at 4 p.m. Click here to watch it. Messi, 36, joined Miami less than a month ago and is now 90 minutes away from adding the Leagues Cup trophy to his already huge collection. Inter Miami faces Nashville in the final of the summer tournament on Saturday. The seven-time Ballon d'Or winner and the greatest footballer of all time, has scored nine goals in six matches with his new team. Highlights:*Lionel Messi- "Going from Barcelona to Paris was complicated. This (the move to Miami) was totally different.*Leo Messi on the 8th Ballon d’Or- “It is a beautiful award, but I never gave the Ballon d’Or much ‘importance.’ For me the collective trophies were much more important. Like the World Cup, which was my greatest achievement. So I don’t think about it, if it comes that’s great, if not I don’t worry.” *Leo Messi: - “I came here(Inter MiamiFC) to enjoy football and I can tell you that I am very happy with my decision.”*Leo Messi - “I made the decision to come here to keep enjoying football.” “Coming here was a family decision, I just want to play football. That's why I chose this place and I'm very happy with my decision. Not only for sports, but also for the day-to-day here in Miami.”*Leo Messi- “I’ve achieved everything in football. The only thing I was missing was the World Cup with my country, that was my biggest dream.“*Leo Messi- “My move to PSG was not something that was desired by me, I never wanted to leave Barcelona. “It was from one day to the next. I had to quickly get used to a new place after so many years in Barcelona. It became difficult, but luckily it is very different from what is happening to me now in Miami.”*Leo Messi- “I’ve already won and achieved everything in football and now I’m just enjoying the moment.”I’m watching the live conference. Owner of rebranded Twitter says Giorgia Meloni and Italy’s culture minister have ‘agreed on an epic location’.
The much-hyped cage fight between the two giants of the tech world, Elon Musk and Mark Zuckerberg, appears to be on after the Italian government said it had agreed to host “a big event” at an ancient Roman location in Italy.
The Italian culture ministry said it was planning to hold a large event in a historical setting involving the two rival billionaires.
It would not be held in the Colosseum, as had been mooted before, but in another location somewhere in Italy, a ministry spokesman told The Telegraph.
He would not be drawn on speculation that the venue could be an ancient Roman site such as Pompeii, Herculaneum or the ancient amphitheatre in Verona in northern Italy.
Earlier, Mr Musk had written on his social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, that he had met the culture minister as well as Giorgia Meloni, Italy’s prime minister, and that they had “agreed on an epic location”.
He tweeted the word “Gladiator” with two icons representing crossed swords before tweeting:
Mr Musk wrote. “Everything done will pay respect to the past and present of Italy.”
Mr Musk also tweeted, cryptically: “Dulce est desipere in loco” which translates as “It is delightful to play the fool occasionally.”
It was not clear if the event would be some sort of fight between the two tech giants or another kind of encounter.
In a statement, Italy’s culture minister said he had had a “long and friendly conversation” with Mr Musk in which they had discussed “our common passion for the history of ancient Rome”.
Gennaro Sangiuliano said he was discussing with Mr Musk “how to organise a big charity event” of a historical nature.
“It won’t be held in Rome,” he said. But it would raise “many millions of euros” which will be donated to children’s hospitals and the fight against paediatric illnesses in Italy.
“It will be an occasion to promote, on a world scale, our history and our archaeological, artistic and cultural heritage,” the minister said.
Earlier this week Mr Zuckerberg said he was “not holding his breath” over the proposed cage fight happening.
In a post on the new social media app Threads, Mr Zuckerberg said he had proposed August 26 for the showdown.
Following a post on X in which Mr Musk claimed he was training “throughout the day”, Mr Zuckerberg wrote: “I’m ready today... but he hasn’t confirmed.”
Talk of a fight began back in June when Mr Musk posted a message on Twitter claiming he was “up for a cage fight”.
Mr Zuckerberg then posted a screenshot of that tweet with the caption “send me location”.
Mr Musk responded with: “Vegas Octagon” and later suggested, at the end of June, that it could take place at the Colosseum.
In response, Italian officials denied they had given permission for a fight to be staged in the ancient arena.
They suggested that instead of a bloody physical brawl, the two men should instead consider engaging in a “certamen” – an ancient contest in which contestants have to answer questions about classical history and mythology.
To make the challenge more interesting, the verbal dual would be in Latin, officials said. SOURCE

Sports › Bayern Munich 'reach Agreement With Tottenham For Harry Kane' With Fee Accepted by AImiron(op): 11:07am On Aug 10, 2023 |
Tottenham have agreed to sell Harry Kane to Bayern Munich, according to The Athletic. The Premier League club have accepted a bid of £86.4million for the 30-year-old striker, which was submitted on Wednesday. It's now up to Kane, who has reportedly been offered a five-year deal by the Bundesliga giants, to decide whether or not to make the move.Tottenham, Bayern and Kane all wanted the situation resolved before the start of the new season, and it looks as if they're going to get their wish. Kane is entering the final year of his contract and Tottenham want to avoid losing him for free next summer, having failed to convince him to sign a new deal. The England captain was understood to be enjoying life under new manager Ange Postecoglou and has considered staying put, but a determination to win trophies before he retires has forced him to the brink of quitting his boyhood club. Bayern have been after Kane all summer, with Thomas Tuchel urging his bosses to seal a deal for the forward, who has scored 280 goals in 435 appearances for Tottenham. Kingluqman: What do you even know about Football Leagues? If you know football leagues that much, you will understand that MLS is less competitive compared to the Saudi Pro League now. MLS that no team relegate. It the the time of Saudi Pro Leagues to reign, thanks to the influence of Ronaldo. Before it was China, later MLS and now Saudi Pro League. Hopefully, Messi would influence more top players into the league in few months as well, but the league was already dying before Messi came to rescue just like Ronaldo did in Saudi. We are talking about the two Greatest player of all time. Their influence is top notch and I wouldn't rate one below another. But right now, Saudi league is much more competitive than MLS. There are still many young players in their prime, playing in Saudi, what will you say about Reuben Neves?
Just leave the comparison for another time when Messi grow MLS as well .

I have zero interests in the inconsequential Arab cup.
Point of correction Mane carried the team, pendu only do what he’s known for. Pristiano Penado’s penalty isn’t scripted, but Messi’s free kick was scripted.
I can see one penadog up there already screaming my moniker, that’s why I show face, common have some shame, where was he during the last World Cup when his country needed him when it mattered most, not even tapin or penalty 😂😂
What is the heck is Arab Cup?
Fun facts: If nah Penado dey inter Miami he’d have zero impact on the team, cos he’s no playmaker, their woes 4 continue, and if Messi was in that Nasiru team he will obviously make em better team, dem go feel his impact asap, cos if he’s unable to score he will create chances or create chances wey go lead to goal, that’s the difference between Leo and the desert fraud.
Anyone wey compare MLS to the Desert league needs to be sectioned.
As usual y’all penadogs can cry in mentions. I won’t read nor reply.
